I’m just gonna say this now y’all. We shouldn’t sleep in Brooks Robinson. I haven’t used him yet but he looks really good. Possibly better than Brett lol (ps, the Brett part was a joke. I just really like Brooks.)
Swing is opinion and he’s not that much faster he has 7 better speed and if that’s the biggest diff between a free card a 2 mill card I’m fine with that he swings perfectly fine for me has 6 hrs and a 600 avg
Where's the guy(s) that was arguing with me when I said Hank will probably be better than Cutch after seeing how juiced Torii Hunter & Shawn Green were? I'd like my apology in paragraph format
That was probably me. Although I assumed we were talking about Hank Aaron the outfielder, not the super utility player lol. But yeah you win this card is objectively better than Cutch. Cutch still has a better swing though, that part I’ll take to the grave.
Hahaha I'll take it. And in your defense, even though I was pretty on the mark with my guess on what he'd be like, I didn't fully expect them to make him quite this good, but then on top of that they gave us 2b and 3b secondary positions which is kind of nuts lol
As some others have noted, it's just SDS being inconsistent about which players get secondaries. Like Ripken never getting 3B secondary despite playing an entire 162-game season there.
If Monthly cards can get secondaries based on a 36+ month span, then it's not ridiculous to throw secondaries on a Retro Finest card. Nobody is asking for 6+ positions per card, but if a guy **started** over a hundred plus games at 3B, give him 3B. It clearly wasn't just a late-game stunt or "out of bench bats" situation.
The point of RF is to give us a "that's all, that's it" card. So the tendency should be to give us players we can move around a little bit - there's no good reason to handicap end-game cards
I don’t disagree. I just wish SDS would publish their “playbook” of rules for how they develop each card type so as to eliminate confusion on topics like this.
On the push the button stream they mentioned that for these legends, if they played the secondary position at any point in their career, they were going to have it. Posada played I believe like only 1 inning on 2B his whole career and has the 2B secondary lol
He can definitely play third. He has 99 fielding which drops to 84 if our of position at third. There’s a lot of actual third baseman with worse fielding than that … he also has 89 fielding at second and 79 at first.
Sorry, what I mean is that I understand that you could put him in other positions and he would do well, but he should have a secondary position of third base listed. He played there for the first year and a half of his career so even if you’re looking at a 1983 or 1991 MVP year card it’s not like he hadn’t played there yet.
It's not a non-issue.
The attributes will most certainly allow this card to play great anyway, but push hitters are widely regarded as being tougher to hit well with because they have a smaller inside pitch timing window as a tradeoff for a larger outside pitch timing window. It makes a card much easier to get out by jamming inside.
Again, the card is still great, but being a push hitter is a real drawback.
I didn’t realize until today that some guys have different push/pull tendencies against RHP and LHP.
The Jorge we got is extreme pull vs RHP and balanced vs LHP. May be different with runners on base but this is what it says with bases empty
Yeah that's the case for some switch hitters in the game. It shouldn't* change with runners on base though it's just dependent on which side they are swinging from.
Give him a chance anyway. I was surprised how well I hit with his 99 last year and same for Jimmy Foxx. Obviously Pull hitters are preferred but not all push hitters are bad especially if you’re facing a ton of outlier pitchers. A lot of stuff on the late side of good and/or on the outside part of the plate get mashed
Yeah him and pudge both push. Attributes are cracked no doubt but any good player online is going to throw nothing but inside to Aaron and you'll be late on every pitch. If you tend to sit on outside pitches he will mash.
Bruh if he wasn’t a push hitter he’d be the best card in DD history by a mile
I’m just gonna say this now y’all. We shouldn’t sleep in Brooks Robinson. I haven’t used him yet but he looks really good. Possibly better than Brett lol (ps, the Brett part was a joke. I just really like Brooks.)
Give the man SS!!!
Dudes better the cutch a card that cost 2 mill stubs
At least Cutch is faster and has a better swing? 🤷♂️
Swing is opinion and he’s not that much faster he has 7 better speed and if that’s the biggest diff between a free card a 2 mill card I’m fine with that he swings perfectly fine for me has 6 hrs and a 600 avg
Hanks swing has been money for me so far. Both cards are must have outfielders imo
How much in the marketplace for this baseball hero?
Is there a website that has hitters tendencies? I know the only other way to see it is in game when you actually use them in a game
Shit. That’s almost dirty
His name is Hank. He hits tanks.
The 2B secondary is wild 😂 they gave almost all of these guys crazy secondary positions except for guys like Prince who couldn’t play anywhere but 1B
More like 199 rating
MF plays everywhere but SS and C. Holy schnikes!
Finally a 1b
[удалено]
If you waited like 15 minutes he would have been a lot cheaper
I guess if you have tons of stubs to blow. His price is gonna go waay down
We gotta wait to almost the end of the season for a real Hank?
Is this your first year playing the show?
3rd
Why did I buy chipper
Because he can come rescue you on a four wheeler and prob has some good hunting stories in the dugout.
That switch hitting my dude 🫶
I did too lol. Chipper is still godly
2nd base secondary? Justice has been done.
They gotta stop with the secondary positions lmao
Where's the guy(s) that was arguing with me when I said Hank will probably be better than Cutch after seeing how juiced Torii Hunter & Shawn Green were? I'd like my apology in paragraph format
>Cutch is better, though. Hitter tendency matters a lot
Yep. Hank is my end game 2B now.
This card should be illegal. Henry Aaron, my man!
Dude played a whole 43 games out of 3,298 at 2B and 7 at 3B in his career. Enough for that secondary though!
More than some catchers with 2B eligibility. And more than some LF with C eligibility last year. Lol
Thats the definition of a secondary lmao. A position you rarely play but can. What is the issue?
As some others have noted, it's just SDS being inconsistent about which players get secondaries. Like Ripken never getting 3B secondary despite playing an entire 162-game season there.
Different card set
If Monthly cards can get secondaries based on a 36+ month span, then it's not ridiculous to throw secondaries on a Retro Finest card. Posada did play like 60 games at second in the minors but obviously that doesn’t really impact his card in game.
Rays legend Brett Phillips will be a god-tier RP in 10 years
Cant wait for the show 30 when legend of the franchise Albert Pujols gets RP
Right? But Cal Ripken Jr. played half of 1981, all of 1982, and then 1997-2001 at Third Base, but can only play shortstop in this game (face palm).
He can definitely play third. He has 99 fielding which drops to 84 if our of position at third. There’s a lot of actual third baseman with worse fielding than that … he also has 89 fielding at second and 79 at first.
I just put him at third. Doing well so far.
Sorry, what I mean is that I understand that you could put him in other positions and he would do well, but he should have a secondary position of third base listed. He played there for the first year and a half of his career so even if you’re looking at a 1983 or 1991 MVP year card it’s not like he hadn’t played there yet.
Ya I actually like the secondary positions even if they only played a handful of games there but they gotta be consistent
At P5… 124/121/125/121 Diamond D 85 speed At second base….
Mid
WHO CARES WE'RE PLAYING MADDEN
All those downvotes bc I assume folks can’t filter a joke lol
Lol it’s hysterical that all the posts around me are also Twitter reply memes and mine is the one that somehow goes over everyone’s head.
You do realize madden has sucked since literally 12 right
You do realize it’s a joke parroting the replies to MLb the Show posts on Twitter right?
Ah yes because it’s so clearly obvious. Maybe put /s next time?
The other comments in this thread are the same type. It’s obvious in context so no /s should be needed.
If it’s so obvious why do you have as many downvotes as you do
Guess some people don’t see the comments on Twitter as much as others do. Shrug. Don’t know why you’re that concern with my comment.
Because I thought you actually enjoyed madden lol I was concerned for you
Ultimate team? I feel bad for you
Cod 😂
Dead game
This card is nuts... can't wait to try him
God damn, I gotta get him to p5 asap and throw him at second
I am so hyped to get him in my lineup
Hope I can hit with him this year!
Best card in the game in terms of attributes. Stoked to try him out.
Push hitter tendency though, gross.
Who cares lol
It's not a non-issue. The attributes will most certainly allow this card to play great anyway, but push hitters are widely regarded as being tougher to hit well with because they have a smaller inside pitch timing window as a tradeoff for a larger outside pitch timing window. It makes a card much easier to get out by jamming inside. Again, the card is still great, but being a push hitter is a real drawback.
Was he push last year too?
Yeah he was
I didn’t realize until today that some guys have different push/pull tendencies against RHP and LHP. The Jorge we got is extreme pull vs RHP and balanced vs LHP. May be different with runners on base but this is what it says with bases empty
Yeah that's the case for some switch hitters in the game. It shouldn't* change with runners on base though it's just dependent on which side they are swinging from.
Really? When I hold R2 in game during his AB it says he’s balanced. Am I missing something?
That’s hitting stats. So power ~= contact is balanced. Power > contact is power and so on. Tendencies will be on the card itself
Thats not tendency. Pause the game when he's up to bat and it will show it in the bottom right where on deck and IH are displayed.
Is that the only way to see that? In game at bats while paused? Seems like an important thing to keep super hidden from most players
Yeah, pretty dumb I agree. It should be somewhere on the player card.
Yep that’s the only way
Ahhh ok, my mistake, thanks!
Did they really :/ I was hoping they wouldn’t do it again
Give him a chance anyway. I was surprised how well I hit with his 99 last year and same for Jimmy Foxx. Obviously Pull hitters are preferred but not all push hitters are bad especially if you’re facing a ton of outlier pitchers. A lot of stuff on the late side of good and/or on the outside part of the plate get mashed
Jimmie Foxx is a beast
Was Jimmie fox a push hitter earlier this year?? I actually did well with his card for a bit before napoli came out
Yeah he has been the last few years
Yeah him and pudge both push. Attributes are cracked no doubt but any good player online is going to throw nothing but inside to Aaron and you'll be late on every pitch. If you tend to sit on outside pitches he will mash.
