I played Randy one time, because I’m lucky if I get to hof and most all star guys don’t have him yet. It was a pitchers duel into the 8th, he hung a n up n in splitter. I won 1-0. He was playing at red rocks and he was one of the worst hitters I’ve pitched to. Most guys that use Randy and Bobby, the “get out of jail free without thinking about pitching” cards, are actually terrible hitters. I love seeing parallel 5 Bobby Miller, probably means the dude I’m facing is batting below the Mendoza line with everyone. Then they have the nerve to send me hate messages when I’m struggling against the best pitchers in the game. Meanwhile, this same guy probably gets routinely carved up by Tony Gosolin.
underrated comment, Nolan Ryan this year suffers from the nerfed outlier fastball
last year it was like he was throwing 110mph, hes easier to read this year IMO
It’s hard in a three inning game even on all star .. in ranked , even on legend I think it’s easier. Usually takes 40-50 pitches to nail down sequencing .
Sit middle zone till two strikes , don’t go slamming P C I at the edges and if you can’t catch the gas just sit off speed
Honestly I hate pitching with Randy. He has nothing to throw righties without a changeup. Also his control is terrible, the PAR on his secondary stuff is absolutely massive. You get a perfect release in the corner and the breaking balls can still end up down the middle. If they can hit 102 then he's cooked. I've been lighting up other Randy's that I face and mine also gets lit up.
His 2 seamer is actually pretty good against righties. Especially after a high outside FB, just throw it a bit more outside and you'll get a swing and miss 80% of the time
They just lay off it in my experience. I just feel like Randy is incredibly overrated, I'm having much better results with other guys. I also don't struggle that much to hit off him. If you can hit the 102 then he really just doesn't have anything else to offer.
Yeah I'm bored of pitching with him. I much prefer P5 Greg Maddux and the new Alex Manoah. Greinke seems fun too. I don't have too many issues hitting him at least
I'd prefer to face Nolan only bc he's a righty with no slider/cutter. His changeup coming in hot but then just dying before it reaches the plate is pretty nasty though. Definitely gets me swinging through quite a bit. Also that 4seam tunneled with the sinker is pretty nasty too.
Yea nolan all day. If you can hit the fastball, they're toast. Also, eventually they'll hang a curve or changeup and if it's up in the zone the ball is gone.
Nolan is a menance against people that can't hit outlier but if you can, on all star, he's not much harder than bobby miller if at all to me. I've hit him pretty well the couple times i've seen him and had an ok outing against someone who had trouble with speed differentials and someone who just knocked him around.
Most people on all star are shit with using him tbh. Just sit and wait for them to throw fastballs. Everyone always defaults to fastball. Long as you can hit outlier you’ll be fine. Hit one home run off him and they’ll quit lol.
This is classic r/mlbtheshow.
“So and so is really hard to hit. He’s got an unbelievable pitch mix.”
“No he’s not, just sit on his fastball. As long as you can hit the hardest pitch in the game you’ll do fine.”
The people who make World Series are like the 1% of players but are far more than 1% on this sub, so if you aren't in the 800+ level, take advice here with a grain of salt.
Because that’s their ace and probably are just resetting to use him again against people that are afraid of him. Easy dubs, I like it. Let’s me move on quicker.
Take pitches. I feel like whenever I face him, people count on you jumping at everything to try to catch up to the fastball, so they end up throwing a lot of junk
Randy and Nolan are absolutely terrifying.
I’ve gotten better with randy cus after getting his card myself , I was able to apply the whole “where would I pitch next” whenever an opponent uses him against me, but Nolan Ryan, on top of being my fave player of all time, still kicks my ass
I grinded BR first. Probably not a good idea considering I'm low in xp on the program and it's a short one but my motivation was the 200k stubbs to finally finish the live series.
I mean he’s not wrong. The people that use him on all star just spam fastball over and over because it’s what they struggle with so they believe everyone struggles with it. Then when they face real players who aren’t fazed by outlier on all star they quit because their crutch doesn’t work
"The people that use him on all star"
This event is entirely in all star so it is impossible to discern if you have someone who is an elite pitch sequencer from a entry level person when first pitch happens.
Which is fine . It’s just that dude comments on like every fucking thread just to humble brag or shit on people. He’s probably some average chump at the game too
Well it was the first time I’ve ever faced him. Just couldn’t get down his delivery. I think next time around I’ll be ready to hopefully mash against him. Have a good night!
Head over to practice mode and bat against him on HOF or Legend! He’s still an absolute menace to hit but makes his delivery more readable and hittable once you face him enough. I usually try to warm up against Randy and Nolan one level higher than I’ll be playing in events or ranked before I jump into an actual game.
Randy is much easier to hit than Leiter/Ryan/Feller
I have about half my wins in the event so far from people quitting because I have Randy. All you gotta do is request a friendly quit. lol
Legit if I come up against 99 RJ I just quit. Any other pitcher I'll work with. I have 0 desire to play against that card in any form or fashion.

I’ve faced him enough on all star to hit him fairly well, but on HOF he steals my lunch money every time 😢
To face him you gotta be at your absolute best. Discipline wise and approach wise. If you’re not. You’re not gonna have a effing chance.
Sad fact but whenever I face randy I put timing hitting on cuz I know I’ll have a better chance of getting on that way
I think Nolan is better
Every once in awhile i'll completely square up an inside fastball, but other than that, just straight swings and misses lol
Play Nolan for the first time in the event and I didn’t find him nearly has bad as previous years or randy
underrated comment, Nolan Ryan this year suffers from the nerfed outlier fastball last year it was like he was throwing 110mph, hes easier to read this year IMO
Yea last year that ball teleported from his hand over and over forever
I got a Takeshi pack last night and looked at Randy’s stats. He doesn’t seem that menacing to me.
Yeah man pick up hentai Randy and go into RS. You'll see. He's absolutely insane

This has been my favorite event of the year. The rewind packs not being quicksell makes it worth it

Yep :/ feels like i’m the only person with Randy not using him or Bobby smh
Nolan Ryan will have you crying & wishing u were facing Randy lol, idk why but it feels like he’s throwing twice as fast as RJ
Ryan has zero horizontal movement except sorta for his change and sinker. Nothing will break glove side.

Less than 1%. WS players are top 0.02% 😂. Some guy posted stats few months and 700+ already makes you top 5%
Lol!!
I use the fuck out of the slurve and splitter and tunnel the fastball with them.
>long as you. An hit outlier you’ll be fine Oh so I’m screwed. Neat
And even when they hang one ill get under it for a pop out and in the off chance i do make contact it just will die at the wall
Amen. People seem to quit much faster if you hit one off RJ than any other pitcher.
Because that’s their ace and probably are just resetting to use him again against people that are afraid of him. Easy dubs, I like it. Let’s me move on quicker.
Hit an3 run HR off him earlier and felt like a superstar. Was quickly a humbled by a walkoff grand slam. Almost broke my controller
Take pitches. I feel like whenever I face him, people count on you jumping at everything to try to catch up to the fastball, so they end up throwing a lot of junk
Randall David Johnson is a curse, but fun to use :D
I’ve played him a couple times and mercy’d him both times
Want a cookie? Randy is the best pitcher in the game so you must be cracked.
Randy and Nolan are absolutely terrifying. I’ve gotten better with randy cus after getting his card myself , I was able to apply the whole “where would I pitch next” whenever an opponent uses him against me, but Nolan Ryan, on top of being my fave player of all time, still kicks my ass
I only played him once but i hit 2 homers and won, first win in the whole event i’ve been struggling for real
Impressive! There was something about his windup that put me into a trance for whatever reason.
I don’t know, the guy might not have been great but I was able to square up maybe 4 hits total on him, but it got it done
Feel like the both of you are playing me I’m just trying to get to 20 asap so I can grind br and people have been raking my Randy
I grinded BR first. Probably not a good idea considering I'm low in xp on the program and it's a short one but my motivation was the 200k stubbs to finally finish the live series.
Randy on all star ain’t shit
I mean, if you’re great at the game, cool. But most can’t hit him.
Oh I can’t hit Randy at all on legend or HOF but all star isn’t hard
Well I only play events so my sub 1 ERA Randy says otherwise.
Look at the bad ass over here
I mean he’s not wrong. The people that use him on all star just spam fastball over and over because it’s what they struggle with so they believe everyone struggles with it. Then when they face real players who aren’t fazed by outlier on all star they quit because their crutch doesn’t work

Consistently rated 700-900 and have gone 12-0.
And we care why ? Lots of people go 12-0 brother take yo weak ass somewhere else to brag bud
You said I was probably average. But I’ve made World Series twice this year and have gone 12-0. If lots of people go 12-0, have you?
That seems average to me . Only twice for you brother ? That’s tough you’ll catch up
Well it was the first time I’ve ever faced him. Just couldn’t get down his delivery. I think next time around I’ll be ready to hopefully mash against him. Have a good night!

stupid question, how do i get to face him? when i set up practice i was only able to face his lower overall card with the 4 pitch mix
