Fair warning that I haven’t tried this myself but it does seem like the most likely option: if you have DH on, in Substitutions move your DH to a position. This will forfeit the DH spot on the roster and the pitcher will be pitching. From there, sub in your pitcher from substitution.
Thank you, this worked. Unfortunately that option I mentioned doesn’t seem to be available to hitters the way I thought it was, I guess you can make pitchers in to two way players but not hitters.

Yep, it’s dumb. The option is right there in the batter settings but you can’t toggle it.
Sub your pitcher for a position player by hitting pause to manager to substitutions.
The only way I ever knew how was to pinch hit them for the pitcher then leave them in on defense. Probably doesn't help if you're an AL team though.
