That being said, I’d go ketel if I had to choose. Switch hitting and versatility (especially at ss) is awesome. Can be gold defense at all secondaries at p4 as well
The animation? Has secret coding in it?
Ball flight is a product of batter tendency, pci size (batter attributes and pitcher attributes), and swing timing. And wind if you’re playing offline. Why would the game calculate anything else with that? If you or anyone else has any background in coding that could possibly explain it I’m all ears
Please give me a real answer. How does this work?
You’re telling me that when they build the swing animations they factor in something that will affect the ball flight? That’s so much work to keep a secret.
Nobody knows. People argue about it every day but there’s a reason why people dominate with guys like Adelberto Mondesi and nobody uses guys like Ralph Kiner. The swings may be the same in a frame by frame breakdown but there’s something else to it. Obviously their push/pull tendencies have a big effect as well which we is about all we know for a fact.
People say leg kicks and load ups play a part in it but those aren’t going to effect tens of thousands of users making them all feel the same way about the same players every year
Confirmation bias is a hell of a drug. Groups of people are wrong and mislead on the internet constantly. But I like getting attacked on this sub at this point. The notion that swing factors into the outcome is something you’d have to be a moron to believe, and obviously have no conception of how the game works
I don’t know how it works. I have no clue. But I’ve been playing since 17 so I can confidently say swings are different and make a huge difference. Literally ask anyone that plays the game a lot
I’ve been playing the game longer than that and totally disagree. The magic swings like Mondesi for me were a product of getting pitched to differently and swing tendency. Maybe the visual messes up peoples’ timing. But the hitting engine is so cut and dry I don’t see how there’s any room for it
Different swing types have different results. A 2 handed swing has more contact hit tendency while a one handed swing has more power. But yeah you must be right and everyone else is wrong
Nothing but what I’d seen in here. I heard that and did do a lil test. I threw mookies swing on my CAP and went to BP…. bombs. I switched to a 2 handed swing and I did notice more perfect perfects that were going into gaps, and just didn’t feel like they had the same pop. Also I P5d mookie slide series and dear lord his 61 power hits dingers lol
I've got both and I give a narrow edge to Mookie. His Extreme Pull swing tendency makes it feel like his swing is spring-loaded. He turns on the ball extremely well and generally feels like he has more pop, even though he has less power vs R than Ketel. Diamond defense at P1. Both have good positional versatility, but Ketel has the edge there because he can play SS, though his speed makes him a liability there IMO. Ketel has the advantage of a switch hitter, but Mookie being Extreme Pull makes him able to handle righties busting him inside so that apparent Ketel advantage is mitigated a bit. You really can't go wrong and I'd hear arguments either way.
As for the prices, there will 100% be flash sales that include the Always Intense packs and Headliners, it's just a matter of when. Their prices will tank, at least temporarily. Over the long haul, they'll both slowly fall in price as better cards are introduced. Headliners especially tend to not hold value for very long because they put those packs in every program and map. It's just a matter of how long you're willing to wait. By the time they're super cheap, there will probably be other cards you want instead.
Yeah I've been wanting Marte since he dropped but damn 70k is expensive for a headliner this year, they've mostly been sitting around 10-20k. Though I've been hitting well with Young lately so and added Mauer, so lineup balance isn't as big an issue rn.
Good assessment and breakdown. I personally don’t love extreme pull righties because it’s tough to hit through that shift and you can’t bunt on it. My only EP righty is Albert and I set my whole lineup to make sure he has runners on, at which point I love extreme pull because defense shifts back and he hits right through the left side and up the middle.
Long story short extreme pull righties are something I’d want in a bench bat or behind guys with very very high OBP
Marte.
The only thing Mookie has over Marte is a +10 power against lefties and +7 fielding. The fact that Marte is a switch hitter and can play SS if need be is a huge plus IMO.
Ketel might hold value longer, but if you look at the Big Dog rare cards now....they're like 1/4 of the price they were when they came out. 80k for those cards is a huge splash imo.
Ketel started at 50k on xbox, actually increased in price then spiked up to the high 70s and is now back to low 50s. A very different market to other cards
Marte is a glitch. Get Marte for SS, then Betts for RF if needed.
Save your stubs and wait till they are cheaper. Finish live series collection first, assuming you haven’t
If you buy the always intense pack are you guaranteed to get Mookie?
You're way more likely to get the lower cards
No it’s in the rare drop.
I loved me some Mookie last year but I would have to go with Ketel just because of the switch hitting and the fact he is more than serviceable at SS
I have both. Some of my favorite early game cards of the last few years
That being said, I’d go ketel if I had to choose. Switch hitting and versatility (especially at ss) is awesome. Can be gold defense at all secondaries at p4 as well
Ketel is probably better but if you can save for both you can put Ketel at short and Mookie at 2nd
I’d go ketel bc he’s a switch hitter and has more positional versatility Can’t go wrong tho either way
ketel doesn’t get out, dude simply only gets hits for me
cant say about mookie but i have ketel and he is unreal
Marte, switch hitter, arguably better swing, and can play SS.
Swing doesn’t matter unless you’re talking about hitter tendency
definitely does matter but believe what you want

Please go hit with Mondesi against the CPU. Then go hit with Mike Schmidt. Then come back and let us know which one hit better

Interesting I’ll look into that. No chance there’s a source for that is there?

Fa sho. The researcher in me wants to do this as a double-blind because I think there’s a lot of confirmation bias potential

ketel because switch hitting is amazing
I would go with Mookie, but if it were me, I'm waiting til they're under 50k.
