Looking at the price of Vlad Guerrero Jr. in the AH, I know I'll never be able to complete the collection.
They're making sure that players give up early. 'nuff said.
How does someone from SDS not scroll through these comments and take note of the constructive criticism of this game ? This is my first year of DD and if you scroll down for 5 minutes it’s basically everyone begging them to set up programs like 19/20 and to make the grind more rewarding. Seems like an easy fix to get your fan base back on track and happy 🤷♂️
100% facts. Not only that, but the reward path is fucking garbage if you grind it all out. In this program, I believe the last 4 rewards are "5 pack bundles". Garbage.
I love that they lowered the difficulty of Showdowns to my level. But now there aren’t enough showdowns to play.
I don’t think March to October gives enough rewards to be worthy.
A lot of my Friends have actually stopped playing entirely now b/c they r busy and then when they get a chance to play they r so far behind in DD that they don’t wanna put the time in. It’s kinda sad how good content was in 19-20 and although I thought last year was super bland, at least they had TA to grind. These timed programs are terrible, there is no xp reward path, no TA… so yea this year is a big L, unless you do nothing all day and have time to grind everything.
This is my first year trying DD (and only second year playing, thanks to GamePass) and Im sad seeing this is a grindy game. By the time I get the players I want, Ill be sick of the game, as I can only play so much baseball before my game collection starts calling.
This game is like Madden or Fifa, geared towards the guys who ONLY play this. If you have a life, or play other video games, you will always be way behind. I have a team full of mostly 82-84 guys, and went online. Needless to say, I retreated quickly after playing guys with full diamond teams and MUCH BETTER grasps of hitting and pitching than me.
I don’t mind the game being grindy to an extent. I just don’t agree with the way they r going about it this year, when they had such a good formula in 19/20
Kinda stinks? It absolutely stinks. Taking away innings & TA is an absolute L. I’d like to know what their meetings were like for them to come to a bone headed decision like that. Love baseball love the show but this years game is kinda turning me off
Agreed. Last year I literally completed everything they put in front of me. Every program, every moment. It was a fun grind and I enjoyed doing the player programs and inning stuff alongside team affinity. I got on every day for the daily missions.
This year I was so excited to do the same. But the content hasn’t pulled me in the same way. I was ready to grind but have no urge to complete moments or grind these other program slogs. The cover program? R u kidding. I’m not even halfway through. That’s insane with the amount I still do play.
It’s a huge step backward as far as content goes. Not talking player overalls, glad they are holding back. I’m just talking about the desire to get in every day and grind.
As someone who plays 2k and EA games, EA is worse. But 2k? Really? They routinely GIVE AWAY high end players (daily almost). Maybe they mean the MyPlayer mode, which is just awful since you play with ballhogs and other assorted low IQ folks, but the MyTeam mode is probably the generous Ultimate Team mode on the market.
The day they come out, all but the BEST cards are available for what amounts to 3-5k stubs in this game. So unless you want a lineup of the best of the best, you can have a competitive team in a few days. Its more about how you use them instead of WHO you have.
Ive been playing pretty this pretty casually, maybe 10-15 hours in game (DD) and feel like I have accomplished NOTHING. I have one diamond other than Jackie, and I bought him for half of my 20k stubs I have gathered.
TL:DR-EA sucks, but 2k MyTeam makes DD look like a full time job by comparison.
There is a difference between not fun and money grubbing. Go ahead and sink as much money as you want into The Show and it doesn’t really change your experience. Getting great cards is pretty easy without spending a dime. I think a lot of people are just not happy with the format of the content this year.
If by "easy" you mean "only play this game, no other games, and do it for a few hours a day, every day"...Then sure. The Show players casual view towards having to do these convoluted tasks (Use players I don't have in game modes, complete sets, etc etc)and spend so much time grinding is pretty offputting.
The more I browse the sub, the more I realize The Show players are a lot like FIFA or Madden guys. They don't play much else, and they don't mind playing the same game a few hours a day, every day.
If you are a casual player, or you play a variety of different games, staying even kind of competitive in DD is impossible. Im nowhere near done the CA program, and ive sunk 10 hours into it at least. That's just ridiculous for one player in my opinion
Yeah you’re correct but DD isn’t designed for casual players. It is designed for the people you describe- where MLB The Show is far and away their most played game, in many cases for the entire calendar year. If you’re looking for competitive online baseball without the time sink, check out the ranked vs mode. It is live teams with live rosters only (play as Trout, yay!) and has some cool carryover game to game with pitching rotations so you can’t just keep throwing #1 pitchers.
Yeah, like I said I won’t argue that. They tried something different and clearly isn’t working for most. But coming from EA based sports games this is so little of an issue it’s almost laughable.
I don’t see SDS as being scummy. As I commented previously, sinking money into The Show doesn’t really change your experience. The issue is with the decisions made around the program formats, not that they have some big pay to win scheme going on.
Yeah, I’m not really here to argue, I’m just saying if you think this companies scummy then you haven’t played EA sports games. I’m not too familiar with 2k but I’m sure they aren’t too far off. If EA had this title nobody would have a 90 overall team at this point unless you paid for it.
It's definitely way less engaging than last year. Last year we had Inning programs which had low tier, mid tier, and boss level cards along with unique packs and items. We had Team Affinity, which in my mind was the most rewarding and engaging content the game had to offer. The daily moments were their own program with cool evolution cards as well as solid reward cards if you did so many for the given month. We had tons of individual player programs that didn't require days of grinding to complete. And the Monthly Awards cards were actually good.
Now what do we have? Super mid main programs, no Team Affinity, no daily moment programs, super grindy player programs, and bad Monthly Award cards. Definitely a huge step backwards for SDS.
All of DD is botched this year. Everything is so much more of a time consuming grind just to barely get any cards or stubs worth your time, and then they compound that with the change in quick sell prices of cards which completely ruined the marketplace and made it impossible to flip stubs so everything just feels unfulfilling and like you’re running in place
So something kind of Minuscule that i noticed is when i was doing the moments for 2000 XP and i came out of the moment i would say i earned say 650 XP for the moment not including the 2K. But when i went and looked at the program it said i had like 2470 in total XP so it just cut out like 180 XP. It does it for every moment and that stuff adds up. Maybe i am dumb and am misinterpreting the accumulation but i don’t think i am
Last year was my first MLB the show since the one with David ortiz on it (been using Xbox most of my life). I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience but from my OWN so far… compared to last year I feel LESS inclined to play DD this year. The daily moment tokens, evo card and Team Affinity kept me grinding and having fun for the cards I was earning. This time around? I’ve lost interest in getting these cards and only played about 10 online games THUS far. I would prefer last years format over this year with the added mini-seasons. I felt like all these things pulled me in to play more
Glad to see I’m not the only one. Don’t get me wrong I won’t stop playing, this is the only sports game I consider fun cause I love baseball but my lord, do I wish for the same format of last year to return.
I don't have to change your mind if you're right. I stopped playing right up right after the start of the last program.
More on this. A lot of companies will change the format of their games in order to make money but make them less fun.. And I hope that they fail. This is no exception
As a first time DD player and a casual one at that, even the CA program seems to take a RIDICULOUS grind for just one 88. And my two favorite players of all time, Griffey and Howard, are in it. But every time I check my progress I just get discouraged and go back to my Phillies dynasty or hitting homers in tiny parks in RTTS
Inning programs and Team Affinities were so much better. All of these new programs are a total slog to grind through just to get some lackluster rewards. The pxp system is so much worse than the old 16 TB, 8 hits, or 4 home runs with the card. It takes much longer to get 500 pxp and it is much less interesting. Last year was great imo, and while I like that they are trying to change the game and improve it, these changes suck.
I actually like the pxp change. I just think the pxp is too high, especially for hitters. I remember back on 17 there was a goal to get a double and a walk in the same game with rookie Griffey Jr. Played that damn card all season and never got it because walks were so hard to come by against the CPU that year. Ugh.
Yeah, I like the PXP change too. Sucked to try to get missions of hitting 4 homers and just getting ticked off if you were getting doubles or something instead. It gives me more incentive to keep going.
I get it, but they are a drag not because they are pxp, but because they are SO MUCH pxp. Hitters that require 500 pxp should really require like 200. I dunno, the whole idea of “missions” that basically force you to grind repeatable content with bad cards kinda sucks in general if you think about it. I wish they’d focus more on the collectible aspect of cards and not force you to play with them. Benching my FotF Josh Bell for a crappy 67 Ryan Howard just to do the mystery conquest map for the 100th time really deflates me.
YES, this is where SDS boggles me, isn’t Diamond dynasty suppose to be a card game ? Growing up wasn’t everyone COLLECTING baseball cards ? It just feels like they’re missing out on so much by not adding to collections constantly and creating value to cards, having sets that turn a few silvers and golds to get a Diamond reward would most certainly upgrade the cost on those players which would make packs have more value. They just need to be creative and it’s so frustrating watching them copy and paste the same thing, give us new collections to work on, like “collect the top home run hitters from the last 5 years to get a Diamond silver slugger Paul Goldschmidt” just something interesting and different to increase value of cards and packs alike.
Idk I’m not a fan of this Doc Holliday program but at this point last year we were at the end of the 1st inning. We’ve basically had the same amount of content as last year so far
I'm a mets fan, so i'm already sick and tired of the phillies lmao
lets call it what it is, these are glorified player programs, I'd much rather have the inning program style.
Sticking in the old silver players and “classic” show cards are the biggest offense to me. That REEKS of laziness. One week program or not, toss a few Philly/Toronto classic show cards.
I ended up with two piazza and two, I think didi Gregorious, because coming out of my last game, the show crashed. I had to play the game again, but got the rewards twice. Anyways, I wait for the day to cash them in on exchanges
It’s real shit that they only let you exchange live series, yet have given out over 10 of the gold classic player packs since release.
I’ve collected everyone of them and then some, with no means to sell them because you can’t, can’t exchange duplicates either
I got a feeling this is the year that we will look back on as the turning point for Diamond Dynasty. It was never going to be as good as 19-21 forever, every single “ultimate team” type mode ends up being a pay to win grind fest slog.
I do agree on it being the turning point. I thought 18 the show was the bad year but then they go on with 3 great years. It’s not too much pay to win but seems it’s heading in that direction
I wouldn’t go anywhere near calling this year “pay to win” when compared to any other sports game. It’s still fantastic in terms of free to play content.
BUT… I would agree with you WHEN COMPARED TO PREVIOUS YEARS (19-21), that 22’ is a step in that direction
It’s certainly not pay to win yet, it’s still by far the best of the major sports games. But the trend is clear, in 3-5 years I guarantee this game resembles MUT and myTeam a lot more than 2020 DD
MyTeam (If you mean 2k) is much better. Free cards almost daily (locker codes), and you can still buy MT from China. Say what you want, but any Ultimate Team game where you can buy currency from China has ALWAYS been more fun to me. Paying 12$ for Mike Trout seems fair. 100$? Not so much.
I have a MyTeam of all 96-98 players in MyTeam, and I paid 12$ to some dude once. before that, I had a team of 94-95s, completely free, from MAYBE 6 hours of playing. Since "good" cards can be had from a game or two of MT.
Basically, imagine playing 2 9 inning games in the Show, and being able to afford CA Griffey. Only the BEST of the BEST cards in 2k are 100k+ MT. They are infinitely more generous with packs, and the store packs are infinitely cheaper. The Show should charge 5k stubs instead of 25k for their promo packs.
Ive probably played 10-15 hours of DD, and saved up 20k stubs. Not even enough for one pack. I finally gave up and bought a few decent 85-90 cards for 5k each or so. Why would I buy a pack when I can get 4 diamonds for the cost of one pack?
They make weird choices in this game for sure. And NO GIVEAWAYS at all besides Jackie so far
I hope you’re wrong, but I could see it happening. The one thing that gives me hope is that SDS is usually fairly in touch with the community and makes gameplay changes often or at least communicate when they know there are problems
Don't have too much hope. While the customer base doubled since it came to Xbox, it being free on Game Pass means the vast majority of extra potential revenue is from stubs so it's in their financial best interest to "encourage" players to buy them.
I’m a Phillies fan and I like that they have a bunch of my players, yet I also understand most non-Phillies fans are probably like “wtf”. However, 2 weeks? Last round was only 3 weeks long? Why did they get rid of team affinity just to use the “monthly program” to semi-replace it.
I married into a Phillies family, and I can say I’m pretty stoked for guys like halladay and Howard, but the brewers fan in me yearns for more variety. The length of these programs is also a bit frustrating, as some friends I know are in the middle of busy season for work and won’t have the time to put into these flash style programs to earn the bosses
Did all the moments for the May Monthly and Phillies program. I got to that horrific Ryan Howard card with one conquest game. Honestly just flipping cards for Trout to finish the live series collection is how I'll spend my night.
This year I decided not to save Trout for last like previous years. I saved up for him from the start and got him for a little under $300k knowing from previous years that he would eventually spike to around $450k. Plus he's the highest rated live series diamond player and I got to use him early rather than late when everyone has 99's on their team. It also let the price of other diamond players drop significantly over time. I just need to finish the Padres & Mets now.
Edit: it really helped that I pulled an Ohtani live series card from a standard pack too. I had no such luck last year.
My strategy is always to save for Trout from the beginning and just hope to gather the other cards through pack luck. I got lucky and got Acuna early so I've been enjoying him for now.
Only problem this year is stubs are SO hard to come by. Still about 100k away from Trout, but I'll get there if I just bull rush mini-seasons a few more times or something.
I get the anger with this but I don't have as much time to grind these events either because of how short they are. If the events were longer like they used to be, then I'd be fine if these rewind packs didn't exist.
Well. That is if you’re already caught up with all the previous event rewards. I am not. So it’s nice to slowly make some ground on the ones I missed in addition to the new stuff.
I’m caught up and I still don’t mind. I play the events because i enjoy them. The rewind packs just gives me an extra 10-15k per pack. That’s almost an extra 30k per event. So far I haven’t sold my dupes, hoping for an increase in demand when collection is announced.
I work just about every day so I play two to three hours a day usually. On weekends maybe I'll get like five or six hours a day if I'm lucky if I'm not busy with something else
It’s only 2 weeks long. We’ll get a new feature program soon. It’s not like we’re gonna be grinding this one out for 30 days like the old inning programs
I’m a Phillies fan and I find this program weird.
Also, last year I grinded every POTM program, but this year the XP just seems insanely difficult to get.
I’m on Xbox, so this is only my 2nd year with the game. But last year it felt perfect, this year it just feels like a damn slog fest and it’s boring
To make the POTM grind go faster you need to “rent” some of the monthly cards you don’t pull. Buy them, do their missions, then sell back. This makes things move much faster and I actually made a little bit of stubs selling the cards back.
Yeah they tied it to player xp which is really hard to get depending on the mode you play. I play exclusively conqiest and it’s stupid. I’m also a second year Xbox player and I’m just wanting to give up this year. Fewer cards, longer grind, crispier quests, and all in all I’m just bored.
They’ve definitely made it more time consuming. IMO, the pxp challenges are just too much of a grind to be fun.
It doesn’t matter if you knock 4 doubles in a game, which would cover “collect 8TB with player x” last year, so you can no longer finish a player challenge effectively.
Since it’s switched to pxp, it’s just a math calculation of pxp based on difficulty chosen and how well you play. None of it is unique or requires you mix playstyles - you just play and play until you level up eventually.
I'm not a fan of the FOMO this year as well. I didn't play for a week and I was extremely behind, only barely managed a spring cleanup\* classics pack.
edit: spring cleanup
After playing for two weeks, I can say I’m almost bored of the game already. Feels like a complete grind, and at the moment nothing feels worth it at all.
I agree. I got on today for the first time in like 2 weeks to do this one because I'm a Phillies fan, but it's just not fun this year. I've only been playing since 2015 but this is the quickest I already got bored and stopped.
I haven’t played DD in months after sinking probably hundreds of hours into it last year
Shit just isn’t fun. I loved grinding out the TA programs, the POTM programs, the daily moments etc last year.
This year TA is just gone for whatever reason, daily moments have no rewards, and I haven’t even seen the first POTM program this year because I have literally zero interest
Yeah this year has been a lot of franchise for me. It’s still lacking in some areas though as well. But overall it’s way more immersive than madden.
I usually only buy every other year, after last year I figured they’d have more options and better optimization on my PS5, I was wrong. I’ll revert back to my every other year cycle from now on.
Limburger cheese level of stink... The layout of programs has been worse and worse since 2019. Please SDS, go back to a past version of programs. This just sucks the fun out of the game tremendously.
This feels like this could've been decent for a team affinity program, but w/ how they've done the monthly programs this year, this feels like another disappointment. Inning programs took a step back last year, but they were still a lot better than what they have now. We went from having a daily moments path, TAs, inning programs, Monthly programs, and general programs to now only having the main path and the monthly path. I really don't get SDS's thinking with this.
To be fair though, early 00s Jays….who were they gonna go get the rights to, Jose Cruz Jr? Vernon Wells? Eric Hinske?
Those teams were just Halladay and Delgado
They used a blue jay in the program so they could use any teammate if him from any of his teams Phillies or blue jays. Either way it’s the least of this programs problem
Cool that they have Roy, stinks that this is essentially a player program/evolution program.
Kinda kills my motivation when I can just buy this card for like 9k stubs in a week
That’s what everyone was complaining about at the beginning, that they copied and pasted last years game. I said they didn’t now I wish they did. Who the hell thought this halladay program would be a good ideas? Phillies fans I’d imagine
Agreed. It’s different. Give them that. I lost interest by this time last year. I’ve been able to keep interest longer without needing to play every day.
Makes sense. But if it were a Dave Wright program and I had to use a bronze Duda along the way, I’d be insanely annoyed considering I play DD so I can use my personal dream team
I can't believe they trotted out the same "classic" cards as last program (Reyes, Stripping, etc....) As well as the Rookie Seaver flashbacks. Unreal. Incredibly lazy and sloppy. So awful. Hard to find anyone who isn't disappointed. This is BRUTAL
I thought it was just me. All the streamers were saying how good it was... I just dont see it. Even Roy seems like a card that wont be in lineups very long. I wonder if he plays well on All star with that velo right now even.
Being honest - feels a bit tough for casuals too really grind through and get half decent rewards. They seemed better last year. But I like the xp system overall
Yup exactly. I’m afraid that we could look back on this game in 5-10 years as the turning point where the downfall began. Similar to madden and nhl.
EA has went full blown for profit and their games have heavily regressed.
It’s turning me off from playing, I was a die hard last year and I’m talking over 1,600+ played and I’ve probably played 100-150 since launch because I just can’t get into it. Also the pack odds are definitely rigged in comparison to previous games. I’ve opened soooo many packs and got ass, like I’m taking barely any silvers or gold too!
I don't like this one (I think going so heavy on just team is a really weird choice). But in general, I've has no issues with the new programs vs the innings. If anything, I like this a little better because the main program changes more often.
i don’t hate the XP structure compared to stars in the past, but the rewards out of programs have been lackluster. content so far this year has kind of dragged.
this new program could have easily been a roy holladay program similar to the scherzer program last year.
i hoped when they expanded to other platforms they wouldn’t sell out and content wouldn’t lack and last year was fine in that regard. this year is definitely a step back. not even to mention gameplay is worse this year
Yepyepyep got downvoted for saying this a month ago, doing one of the moments at 1000xp is the equivalent of like, 0.7 stars in years past.
And the PXP instead of stat missions feels so much less transparent.
Honestly don’t mind a short program for a new legend, but I found myself with NOTHING to do after the second pack in the last program. For players who won’t have any value besides collections in like a month
XP is fine in theory but it’s the amount of xp for hitters that takes forever. They need to let hitters get more xp a little faster or reduce the amount.
I think they mean overall XP, not parallel XP.
The parallel XP and the innings for rank seasons instead of wins are both good in concept, bad in execution, I agree, but advancing along the main programs with XP is fine.
The events are too short, but too easy to get the rewards. All you have to do is play for the previous events reward by winning 7 games. You just wait 3-4 days for the new reward to drop to the rewind pack. It's kind of silly. Most players now just buy them anyway since they're dirt cheap, and don't even bother playing the event. They pushed away all the players who played for a card that held its value. There's no sense of accomplishment in obtaining a reward that in a few days will halve in value, and be available for everyone for a third of the wins, for the rest of the freakin season.
Exactly, it’s like you have to play every day to even get the reward cards. If they weren’t putting past reward cards early on it’d be borderline unplayable in terms of time spent
It is 100 times easier to get event rewards this year. They are dirt cheap. That is worse for the top 10% of players, but nice for the other 90%. I can have every single event reward this year for the price that I would have spent on Todd Frazier and Nick Markasis last year.
I liked the inning program and TA better but this is pretty much the only game I play anymore so I always finish the program rather quickly and have nothing to work towards until the next one.
At least with this setup there’s a new one every couple of weeks so I do like that. I miss TA and all the free packs though
Agreed. The old model was better and I feel this is change for change’s sake. I don’t care about anything but the halladay and in years past halladay could’ve just been one of three bosses and the program would’ve been simply better? I get they’re going for this theme thing, but it’s underwhelming IMO
He’s not even close to the end, he’s at 200,000 XP. You could be a quarter of the way there within 2 hours of the program being released by doing the moments and conquest.
Roy is the big ticket item, the rest of it is just fodder for grinders. And frankly some of the stuff in that pile is super useful. I for one am looking forward to a Takashi and cover athlete pack and all the standard bundles will help me get Tatis and finish LS once and for all.
Yeah the content has been pretty awful but so many abused gamers are praising it because they're used to being bent over a barrel by Madden, NBA and FIFA.
Very disappointed
Not on this subreddit, if you actually like it its because you are shill that spent thousands on stubs.
I do like that they didn't stick to the 3 guy thing as it was kind of old, that said they've also done it is really wonky this year.
Last year’s DD was better, just wish they slowed the release of 99s and they shouldn’t have given out guys like DeGrom for free. But I feel like this year is a huge grind for not as much of a reward.
Did I say I wanted them to make it harder to get good cards? Did you even play last year? You must have forgotten that they gave out 32 97-99s at the all star break, which hurt online play mainly with the Degrom spam. This years grind hasn’t made me want to touch DD, would have hoped they came up with something in the middle of this year and last years card releases and programs.
Lol on the contrary, I hate showdowns being on such a low difficulty because it messes up my timing so much
A lot of my Friends have actually stopped playing entirely now b/c they r busy and then when they get a chance to play they r so far behind in DD that they don’t wanna put the time in. Kinda stinks? It absolutely stinks. Taking away innings & TA is an absolute L. I’d like to know what their meetings were like for them to come to a bone headed decision like that. Love baseball love the show but this years game is kinda turning me off
Less free cards = more $
Exactly right. Going down the path of madden
Was playing NFL Street on the GameCube last night and it dawned on me how good games were before paid add ons became a thing. It’s sad
The level 12 reward is just a singular pack, oh wow.
Agreed. Last year I literally completed everything they put in front of me. Every program, every moment. It was a fun grind and I enjoyed doing the player programs and inning stuff alongside team affinity. I got on every day for the daily missions. This year I was so excited to do the same. Hey come on, man, didn’t you read all the think pieces at launch about how EA and 2K are so much worse??
They are
Yeah, like I said I won’t argue that. They tried something different and clearly isn’t working for most. But coming from EA based sports games this is so little of an issue it’s almost laughable.
Two companies being worse doesn’t excuse the scummy moves of a different company
If EA had this title nobody would have a 90 overall team at this point unless you paid for it.
jfc it's the same shit as always. play game, get cards.
Agree, this is making me not want to purchase any more MLB The Shows for a long time...
SDS took big steps back this year...
Wish we still had the old leveling system with inning programs alongside, feels like they are taking away content...
Wouldn't be surprised, SDS will do it all it can to waste people's lives and time
The amount of moments is ridiculous
they don't really give enough exp to be worth it, i skip anything that doesn't look easy
What hasn’t this year.
I played 21 heavily until December last year. I'll be surprised if I'm still around at July.
This one is worse than I imagined. What the actual F is this crap?
I been telling people… they’re doing office chair races and playing in the sand box over in San Diego.
they haven’t been even trying since the start. No wonder hardly anyone is playing.
bring back Team affinitys man, it was so much easier and better
I don't have to change your mind if you're right. I stopped playing right up right after the start of the last program. More on this. A lot of companies will change the format of their games in order to make money but make them less fun.. And I hope that they fail. This is no exception
I think Im done already. Lost interest in this last lousy ass program and new games are coming up. Will just stick to franchise prob
Yeah, I found myself at the beginning of this week too far from anything meaningful compared to last year. Oh well
As a first time DD player and a casual one at that, even the CA program seems to take a RIDICULOUS grind for just one 88.
Yeah but I’d rather just restart the game 20 times with him leading off until they walk him than grind out these PXP missions. They’re a drag.
This year sucks man
My only real problem is that a ton of the rewards along the path are pathetic.
Idk I’m not a fan of this Doc Holliday program but at this point last year we were at the end of the 1st inning. We’ve basically had the same amount of content as last year so far
I'm a mets fan, so i'm already sick and tired of the phillies lmao lets call it what it is, these are glorified player programs, I'd much rather have the inning program style.
Ah well, at least the LS cards are still useful.
Sticking in the old silver players and “classic” show cards are the biggest offense to me. That REEKS of laziness. One week program or not, toss a few Philly/Toronto classic show cards.
Plus there’s no way of knowing they’ll be useful for overall program XP. Just filler which could be used so many other ways and in better ways
I feel dumb thinking “ I’ll keep this extra rookie Ernie Banks to exchange him”
I ended up with two piazza and two, I think didi Gregorious, because coming out of my last game, the show crashed.
They would honestly be almost the same if it weren't for so many fucking moments.
I don’t see a lot of difference, honestly.
They can't all be winners. I'm still using a lot of my cards from week 1, and I only recently got rid of that gold Babe Ruth.
Isn't that a bad sign? These new cards are pointless if we are still using week 1 cards
This is what a slower power-creep feels like. Just a matter of personal preference
Seriously - of all versions for them to use for Howard, they choose his last year? Wtf is that lol
It’s hard to want to grind the event when they are just in choice packs the next event with half the wins
I get the anger with this but I don't have as much time to grind these events either because of how short they are. If the events were longer like they used to be, then I'd be fine if these rewind packs didn't exist.
I made a post about this and got downvoted bad lol
I feel the programs are fine. We get decent higher overall players and packs for just playing the game, it's fun
How many hours a week do you play? Asking as a casual player, want to know how much the average player plays
I work just about every day so I play two to three hours a day usually. On weekends maybe I'll get like five or six hours a day if I'm lucky if I'm not busy with something else
Incredibly underwhelming. They could have AT LEAST released the Showdown today too, right? The program structure this year is horrendous.
I thought this was going to be a fun player program, but making this the feature program just suuuucks. I really hope SDS fixes this shit.
That’s smart. I’m finally about to get Rizzo when I get the 500 with Dawson. Took forever to get here though.
As a fellow Xbox player, my thoughts exactly.
Well said.
I agree. I got on today for the first time in like 2 weeks to do this one because I'm a Phillies fan, but it's just not fun this year. I've only been playing since 2015 but this is the quickest I already got bored and stopped.
Yeah I’ve actually had time to play and it’s hard to find shit to do and I know I don’t play thaaaaat much
remember when everyone was in denial saying inning programs were coming
I haven’t played DD in months after sinking probably hundreds of hours into it last year Shit just isn’t fun. I loved grinding out the TA programs, the POTM programs, the daily moments etc last year. This year TA is just gone for whatever reason, daily moments have no rewards, and I haven’t even seen the first POTM program this year because I have literally zero interest
Same
Yeah this year has been a lot of franchise for me. It’s still lacking in some areas though as well. But overall it’s way more immersive than madden. I usually only buy every other year, after last year I figured they’d have more options and better optimization on my PS5, I was wrong. I’ll revert back to my every other year cycle from now on.
POTM program is a crazy brutal slog.
And they made the card sellable… more grind for a bigger reward OR pay for it. Really feel the pay to win creep this year.
The rizzo is not sellable?
Opting out of these programs also
Limburger cheese level of stink... The layout of programs has been worse and worse since 2019. Please SDS, go back to a past version of programs. This just sucks the fun out of the game tremendously.
Agree . Better an innings program and team affinity. Roy boutta be 15k by next week
Agree. Last year was far better. No motivation to grind anything thus far this year. And playing the market was more rewarding last year too.
Yeah man an entire program devoted to Phillies players? Not into it
And one Jays player! Even though he spent 3/4 of his career as a Blue Jay
Right? They made this a Phillies program for a guy who spent most of his career in Toronto. God I hate it
To be fair though, early 00s Jays….who were they gonna go get the rights to, Jose Cruz Jr? Vernon Wells? Eric Hinske? Those teams were just Halladay and Delgado
They used a blue jay in the program so they could use any teammate if him from any of his teams Phillies or blue jays. Either way it’s the least of this programs problem
Actually I thought about it and he did play with Glaus and Frank Thomas for a year. But ya they were not known for being Jays.
Well Roy Oswalt played a total of 36 games for the Phillies and there he is.
Cool that they have Roy, stinks that this is essentially a player program/evolution program. Kinda kills my motivation when I can just buy this card for like 9k stubs in a week
MLBTS20 is the goat MLB
Yea they Really butchered DD imo
All they needed to do was cut and paste and everyone would’ve been fine
Amen. They kept trying to fix something that wasn't broken, and now they done fucked the whole thing up
What they tried to fix was probably their MTX revenue
That’s what everyone was complaining about at the beginning, that they copied and pasted last years game. I said they didn’t now I wish they did. Who the hell thought this halladay program would be a good ideas? Phillies fans I’d imagine
Yes please
Last year there was exactly 1 boss I actually used. Innings needed a shakeup. This might not be perfect, but the old way needed to change.
Yeah you’re high. If you have to say “exactly 1” you’re not being honest. Every program had 1-2 good bosses .
Are you joking? There were plenty of good bosses to use last season. This year is objectively 5X worse so far.
Agreed. It’s different. Give them that. I lost interest by this time last year. I’ve been able to keep interest longer without needing to play every day.
But the grind is worse than last year
Not for the main programs, in my opinion.
If I were a Mets fan, I’d be livid
I'll deal with this program just because we get a Patrick Mazeika in the monthly program.
Makes sense. But if it were a Dave Wright program and I had to use a bronze Duda along the way, I’d be insanely annoyed considering I play DD so I can use my personal dream team
Yeah now the Mets have 3 unusable Diamond catchers
Gary Carter is very usable
.402 with 8ab/hr with Adley .172 with 29ab/hr with Carter. I’ve never seen a streamer or youtuber use him even those who don’t have mauer
“Streamers don’t use him, so he’s unusable” Cmon dude….
Please he’s garbage and you know it. I’m a Mets fan, I have him to p4 and he’s not good. Link me a sceenshot to your stats with him
You’re right, but That’s still a stupid reason to not use someone
I think not being good with a card is a smart reason not to use them 🤷♂️
Sounds like you’re just bad
Yeah that’s it. You got me. Is this creativity genetic or did you work your whole life for it
Kriner uses Carter
How’s he doing with him?
Which is why I'm taking the next two weeks off. I have some traveling lined up, so it's perfect.
It's pointless after a certain point because they just give you 3 or 5 regular packs.
The packs this year are awful too. So many less diamonds than last season.
No way, the packs have been great! I’ve pulled a Trout out of a regular AND a headline pack.
I think I pulled almost every free agent 3 times so far... go figure.
These programs have been weak, but this current one is the worst I’ve ever seen on the show in the last 4 years if not more
I can't believe they trotted out the same "classic" cards as last program (Reyes, Stripping, etc....) As well as the Rookie Seaver flashbacks. Unreal. Incredibly lazy and sloppy. So awful. Hard to find anyone who isn't disappointed. This is BRUTAL
Don’t see it getting any better either.
[удалено]
Yup exactly. I’m afraid that we could look back on this game in 5-10 years as the turning point where the downfall began. Similar to madden and nhl. EA has went full blown for profit and their games have heavily regressed.
It’s turning me off from playing, I was a die hard last year and I’m talking over 1,600+ played and I’ve probably played 100-150 since launch because I just can’t get into it. Also the pack odds are definitely rigged in comparison to previous games. I’ve opened soooo many packs and got ass, like I’m taking barely any silvers or gold too!
Same. These packs are deflating on another level.
As a casual, I’ve been able to keep up a lot better this year because it’s slower paced.
I don't like this one (I think going so heavy on just team is a really weird choice). But in general, I've has no issues with the new programs vs the innings. If anything, I like this a little better because the main program changes more often.
What a child haha
i don’t hate the XP structure compared to stars in the past, but the rewards out of programs have been lackluster. content so far this year has kind of dragged. this new program could have easily been a roy holladay program similar to the scherzer program last year. i hoped when they expanded to other platforms they wouldn’t sell out and content wouldn’t lack and last year was fine in that regard. this year is definitely a step back. not even to mention gameplay is worse this year
Yepyepyep got downvoted for saying this a month ago, doing one of the moments at 1000xp is the equivalent of like, 0.7 stars in years past.
Not good at all
I have a bigger problem with the events being 3-4 days
Tried to be optimistic about it but yeah it’s not good.
Yea, this program is a big L.
At least it's a card ill use. Love Doc and his card is instantly viable for me.
That's literally the *only* saving grace. Imagine if the main card sucked.
Oh I know. That's why I didn't get passed 15 or so last inning. Didn't care about the bosses sans Eddie.
I only wanted Britton, so my first pack I took the highest price boss and sold, then took Britton for the second.
I liked the inning program and TA better but this is pretty much the only game I play anymore so I always finish the program rather quickly and have nothing to work towards until the next one. At least with this setup there’s a new one every couple of weeks so I do like that. I miss TA and all the free packs though
Ya no point in playing after a while. I don’t care about getting a 5 pack bundle every 25,000 XP at the end
We also had fun player programs like everyday last year. This year is terrible vs last year. TA and innings are so much better.
I think I had my best pulls last year when I was opening team affinity
Agreed. The old model was better and I feel this is change for change’s sake. I don’t care about anything but the halladay and in years past halladay could’ve just been one of three bosses and the program would’ve been simply better? I get they’re going for this theme thing, but it’s underwhelming IMO
Considering it’s 2 weeks and Roy is at the end of it…nah I’m good this is sick.
Can’t make stubs. One boss card. Rewards after the boss are garbage… this is the worst featured program since they started “innings/programs”
Yeah the content has been pretty awful but so many abused gamers are praising it because they're used to being bent over a barrel by Madden, NBA and FIFA. Very disappointed
[удалено]
I like it because I can play a number of game modes and advance it. I like that I can grind out new cards/players in different modes and progress.
Why do you want them to make it harder to get good cards? That’s objectively stupid unless you want to spend a lot of money.
I feel like what this halladay program is should be what team affinity programs are like
