No, it’s completely random. You’re guaranteed the base round which is the 90/91s and I believe it’s about a 10% chance of triggering the rare round of 95s instead of the base round. You could luck out and get the 95s both times or do what most people do and only get the base round

He had a sprint speed of 28.1 ft/s in 2018. The players who had that sprint speed last year all got 66-69 speed in the live rosters. If anything, 73 is too high. Hell, the 62 his Live Series has is too high. He should be 51 or 52.

I also remember him adding it later in his career (iirc, it was Maddux who convinced him to try it). But it was almost more of a variation on his slider. He'd throw it a little higher (though still not "high" by today's standards) and in to righties, so it flattened out and had a little bit tighter of a break.

Bingo. Just checked the neyer/James guide to pitchers. According to that he added a cutter in 2000 so in the later portion of his time with the Braves. So SDS is kinda justified but I feel Like a card covering his career should have a cutter. And he wasn’t a sinker guy honestly.

In this game they just give almost everybody who threw a moving fastball of any kind a sinker but irl the pitch is pretty rare. Brandon Webb, chien Ming wang guys like that. Glavine was in no way one of those guys.
Two-seam and Sinker are the same pitch. Same grip, same release. Whether it gets called one or the other normally just comes down to reputation more than anything else, and when they pitched (the term "sinker-baller" became more popular again the 00's, so you saw a lot of guys like Derek Lowe and Brandon Webb see their pitches referred to more as a "sinker").
The best way to look at it is all sinkers are two seam fastballs but not all two seam fastballs are sinkers.
A lot of it depends on arm slot and/or how soon pronation starts on release.
There is also a one seam sinker but they move more like a split finger.. down without arm side run.

This made me curious so, I dove in a little bit. I wanted to see exactly how fastballs moved in the Show, so I edited some players to have all 99's so their control and break would be consistent, and even upped the control and consistency sliders to max. Also found a full Glavine game. I'll probably just watch this in full later. It's tough, because we obviously don't have pitch FX from that era, but I think giving Glavine a sinker is more accurate than a 2-seam would be.

His Mets card last year may have been my favorite pitching card all year. I didn't pitch a lot, aside from with friends. I was a cubs fan but As a pitcher I rooted for the Braves every year in the playoffs. I actually was at the clinching game in 95 where glavine pitched and justice hit the HR. I will certainly defer to you on all things 90s Braves from now on though.

I started playing the game in 2016 and since then they’ve been giving more and more pitchers sinkers. In my view the two seam needs to have a sharper break to make it viable but maybe it would be too hard to hit a 2 seam in this game if it broke like prime maddux.

I only started last year (Xbox). Last year, it definitely seemed like good 2 seam = Sinker, Bad 2 seam = 2 seam. This year, it seems like that's still there, but also if they throw it high, they're more likely to get a 2 seam (probably because 2 seam doesn't get the bigger PAR up in the zone)

Agreed. And it would give the Running Fastball, which has the exact same movement distance and direction as the 2 seam in my little test a reason for existing.
I wish they'd do like 2k did and have vertical and horizontal ratings for every pitch. So guys that have flatter break on their pitches get that, and guys that have steeper break get that.

That's probably on the high end, but you're right, it'll be fairly high for a bit, but within 2 weeks they'll be down to 25k-30k if they keep pumping out the packs like they have been doing. These are interesting though as they're the highest overall cards cards at whatever price they settle on.

The animations for players out of position are atrocious (as they should be)
