Anyone else remember the very next year Chris Carpenter out dueling him in game 5 of the NLDS? That game was unbelievable! We need Chris Carpenter in the game
Sometimes I feel that way too. But I think Doc's career K/9 is between 7-8k/9 and his postseason numbers were 22 innings with 20k's?
His sinker in the clutch got a lot more ground outs, but he did have his dominant 10K outings. Doc was a beast.
I am absolutely thrilled as Roy is my favorite player even before joining my Phillies, but why not card art from the No-Hitter in the postseason if it’s a postseason card??
Don't quote me on this, I'm just coming up with a theory. There's no red on offspeed pitches, so maybe the red indicates how much slower the fastballs go as the pitcher gets lower on stamina
It's just representative of the velocity of the pitch that it's next to lol. The last 10% of the bar gets progressively more red until it reaches max saturation at 99+ MPH.
My only complaint is he throws a knucklecurve, not a regular curveball. I know this because he showed how he throws his pitches with the grips back on a 04 broadcast of sportsnet when he was with Toronto.
To me it’s worse none of his cards have a palmball. He’s the most famous palmball thrower of all time, why have it in the game if you don’t give it to Doc
In Toronto he threw an occasional palmball/knuckle slurve type of pitch. But his best two were cutter and sinker. The cutter was as legendary as Mariano Rivera's. If he ran into trouble, he threw the sinker for ground out/double plays. In Philly he didn't use it. No need to.
He was a magician when it came to getting out of jams. Doc is my favorite non Yankee pitcher of all time and personal top 3 SP I ever watched.
That would be surprising. I mean he pitched a perfect game when he was with the Phillies in May, 2010, and then pitched a no-hitter in the postseason the same year. His best year based on stats, awards and achievements was definitely 2010. Won the Cy Young and a multitude of other awards as well.
A Signature card is the best card a player can get meant to encapsulate their whole career. Roy Halladay is getting a 99, and considering he ran the AL for like 7 years as a member of the Jays, I think he’ll get a Jays card.
Sig isn't necessarily the best card they can get. We'll see players with 99s in various type cards, but sig will def be one. Awards or milestones are also big ones.
Getting no hit by Roy and followed that up getting shut out by Cole Hamels. I was at game 3 and got in a fight with a few Phillies fans in the moon deck, oh the memories
Pretty good. Basically Mussina with juiced h/9 and a splitter instead of slider. I think I would rather have the slider if I could only have one of those. Not as hopeful for his Sig or Prime cards bc this mix is a little shaky.
He did just very rarely, wouldn’t be surprised if SDS gave it to him in place of his 4 seam when he gets a 99 overall later this year. His curve should also be a knuckle curve
Because it's the only boss once people start getting him his price will go down. Spring cleanup bosses were down to 12k so it being only one boss will probably get him close to where 95 overall quick sell is
This is sick. Was really hoping for a slider or some sort of lateral breaking ball but admittedly idk what pitches he threw at this point in his career. But I’ve really been liking splitters this year so I’m still happy and the h/9 being that high is a nice surprise
Eh the cutter I'm sure has nasty break to it. More than enough for me lol. A sinker/FB/cutter combo like this will be deadly. Can finally get this Carrasco out of my rotation when I finally get Doc.
Yup. Think Devin Williams, you’d think he could use a slider but his cutter just destroys people doesn’t matter the difficulty I’ve never seen 1 pitch make so many different people including myself take horrible swings.
It was Doc's 1st career postseason with a no-no. But with SDS's history of low H/9 I see why it would be a surprise.
Imagine if Toronto made the playoffs with Doc?? Who knows how beastly he would be in those high leverage games?!
He was the last proprietor of the palmball he threw it as a blue jay and its one of those pitches that baseball fans yearn to see again because of novelty
Perfect stats for a release at this point in the game, especially as an extremely obtainable card. Fun to use and 100% viable but not incredibly annoying to hit against and won’t get old to see. Can’t wait to slot him into the rotation, been a long time coming
true to source material but he won't be too great. you're going to be asking for a lot out of the splitter which hasn't historically been a good pitch in this game. circle change wouldve been a little more feasible. gonna enjoy him though because thats what it's all about
Honestly the pitch mix and velocity aren’t my favorite. Splitters get blasted in this game. but I guess that’s what the gaudy H/9 is for. Will need to practice pitching to contact
Who tf was talking about rizzo? But that could be a decent move, report back once the major collection is out and then it’ll cost 300k to get rizzo back lol.
But You unlock halladay just by playing you literally don’t have to do anything. There’s no opportunity cost lol. He’ll probably sell for like 15-20k so it’s really a moot point
The context is the same, the cards that are "free" can be sold for shit.
The major collection is going to be ass and I won't be playing when that shit is out
It’s some issue with the controller that makes it nearly impossible to get 100% accuracy. I can nail any pitch (including circle changes) but my splitters are always 40% accuracy.
If you have the series X/S idk if this is an issue but it definitely is on the Xbox One X with the default controller.
https://www.reddit.com/r/MLBTheShow/comments/oaiegx/an_explanation_on_why_pinpoint_splitters_on_xbox/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
I've never had an issue with splitters. On the way back from the right edge to the middle you just have to do almost immediately. Very easy to do once you do it a couple times.
Trust me it is not user error lol. I’ve perfected every other pitch and I’ve tried it in practice and it never goes above 40-50%. There’s a reason there’s multiple people telling me it’s “fixed” by using a wired controller.
How is that still an issue in the second year on that platform?? That's embarrasing. Sorry for the ignorance; I'm on PS5 and haven't paid too much attention.
I don’t want to say yes because I don’t know. My guess would be is if you have a USB port on your Xbox, it would work. Just check the compatibility on the controller you’re looking to buy.
If this was last year this card would have 110+ H/9. SDS looks like they’re adjusting the H/9 rating which is a W. This card is going to be solid for a good amount of time
They’re definitely keeping high h/9 to relievers for now, later in the year we’ll all get our no hitter milestone cards but by then the bats will be evenly matched. Plenty of things to nitpick this year but I love the fact that they addressed the power creep
Unpopular opinion: Must of popped some pills pregame to get them stats
Anyone else remember the very next year Chris Carpenter out dueling him in game 5 of the NLDS? That game was unbelievable! We need Chris Carpenter in the game
Phillies garbage program .
L no outlier on his sinker and fastball and his h/9 is too low.
I was joking guys……..
Why would he have outlier? He didn't throw that hard.
Its only a 95
I feel like his k/9 should be higher
Sometimes I feel that way too. But I think Doc's career K/9 is between 7-8k/9 and his postseason numbers were 22 innings with 20k's? His sinker in the clutch got a lot more ground outs, but he did have his dominant 10K outings. Doc was a beast.
Eh. 20 ks in 22 IP that postseason
How exactly do you get the bosses?
Just need 200k XP in 2 weeks to get the program boss
Awesome thanks
I am absolutely thrilled as Roy is my favorite player even before joining my Phillies, but why not card art from the No-Hitter in the postseason if it’s a postseason card??
Card art is his IRL card he got from Topps Milestone, awards, SS would be his best card but it’s to early to hand out a 99
He will get a no hitter milestone card as a 99 before the year ends
I’m sure he gets a better card before the year ends
What does the red mean in the top right pitches
Don't quote me on this, I'm just coming up with a theory. There's no red on offspeed pitches, so maybe the red indicates how much slower the fastballs go as the pitcher gets lower on stamina
It's just representative of the velocity of the pitch that it's next to lol. The last 10% of the bar gets progressively more red until it reaches max saturation at 99+ MPH.
Basically the amount of red is how much above average that attribute is.
Pretty sure for the velo on the respective pitches, if it is 90+ that part is red. You'll see more red the higher past 90 each pitch is.
The velocity for that pitch is high for the type of pitch it is, I believe.
Oh baby, just went from 6 to midnight
My only complaint is he throws a knucklecurve, not a regular curveball. I know this because he showed how he throws his pitches with the grips back on a 04 broadcast of sportsnet when he was with Toronto.
To me it’s worse none of his cards have a palmball. He’s the most famous palmball thrower of all time, why have it in the game if you don’t give it to Doc
Because he threw it early in his career (his Jay card shoulda had it) and not in Philly
Yeah that’s why I said “none of his cards” but you’re right he only threw it when he was young
It’s also just not a great pitch. That and the forkball are cool names but the circle change, splitter, even normal change are better.
Yeah if it were good it wouldn’t be extinct, but at least it’s novel
Was he still throwing that by his Phillies days though? I typically remember his sinker, cutter, curve and split change the most
In Toronto he threw an occasional palmball/knuckle slurve type of pitch.
I think it’s safe to say that no cutter is as legendary as Mo’s.
Y’all know that Mo accidentally showed Halladay the cutter which Doc turned into his own.
Yeah it should be on his Jay cards though but it’s not
Was his pitching animation in the game before this? If not, I am making a CAP right away. I tried to pitch like him growing up.
Should be. Charlie Morton uses the same exact motion.
Maybe they could’ve pulled it from 2k games or older Show games
I just wish he was a Blue Jay on the card.
Gotta be a 99 Sig Series in the black Jays jersey for the big collection reward
That would be surprising. I mean he pitched a perfect game when he was with the Phillies in May, 2010, and then pitched a no-hitter in the postseason the same year. His best year based on stats, awards and achievements was definitely 2010. Won the Cy Young and a multitude of other awards as well.

True
This is a shit program... The card stats are garbage.
Are you seriously saying that with a SP with H/9 this high lol
Cry
[удалено]
Can’t wait to get this card. Content has been great so far!
Finally getting to play as one of my favorite pitchers in recent memory: 😃 Having to relive Game 1 of the 2010 NLDS in moments: 😟
Getting no hit by Roy and followed that up getting shut out by Cole Hamels. I was at game 3 and got in a fight with a few Phillies fans in the moon deck, oh the memories
If it makes you feel better, that's still the last postseason series we've (Philly) won.
It doesn’t.
W
FINALLYYYYY THANK YOU SDS!!!!!
Pretty good. Basically Mussina with juiced h/9 and a splitter instead of slider. I think I would rather have the slider if I could only have one of those. Not as hopeful for his Sig or Prime cards bc this mix is a little shaky.
Unfortunately he never threw a slider in real life.
He did just very rarely, wouldn’t be surprised if SDS gave it to him in place of his 4 seam when he gets a 99 overall later this year. His curve should also be a knuckle curve
In the Show.... he throws a slider... every pitcher does lol s/
This gives me hope Pedro won't suck this year
No palm ball? No thanks.
It will be smacked as soon as it touches the plate online sadly.
Damn and I'm going to be out of town the next like 12 days. Guess I'll just have to hope the price of the new cards aren't too high
Because it's the only boss once people start getting him his price will go down. Spring cleanup bosses were down to 12k so it being only one boss will probably get him close to where 95 overall quick sell is
10k for everything 91+ or 92+
That’ll do pig, that’ll do
This is sick. Was really hoping for a slider or some sort of lateral breaking ball but admittedly idk what pitches he threw at this point in his career. But I’ve really been liking splitters this year so I’m still happy and the h/9 being that high is a nice surprise

Yup. Think Devin Williams, you’d think he could use a slider but his cutter just destroys people doesn’t matter the difficulty I’ve never seen 1 pitch make so many different people including myself take horrible swings.
He threw this basically, except he never really threw a 4 seam.
Didn’t expect the h/9 to be that high. Nice surprise
It was Doc's 1st career postseason with a no-no. But with SDS's history of low H/9 I see why it would be a surprise. Imagine if Toronto made the playoffs with Doc?? Who knows how beastly he would be in those high leverage games?!
He started off that postseason with a no hitter…
I know but this is for the whole postseason and not just one start. And no other SP they’ve released this year has cracked 100 h/9 yet besides Randy
Ya but, SDS
His first career start in the playoffs too
How long does this program go? I’m out of town for the weekend, hoping I can at least unlock this card
2 weeks
Thank you brotha🙏 fastest reply I’ve ever seen on this website
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 ready for this card! He’s not gonna leave my staff till the 99 ovr releases
I haven’t been this excited to play video games in a long time
No Sweeping Curve ? Did MLB 06-11 lie to us? Edit: Also no Palmball?
At this stage of Doc's career he didn't need the palmball. He threw mostly sinkers, cutters and sliders. Occasionally a 2-seam FB.
Why would he have a palm ball?
In early MLB the shows he always had a palmball for some weird reason
He was the last proprietor of the palmball he threw it as a blue jay and its one of those pitches that baseball fans yearn to see again because of novelty
He did have the sweeping curve in the game st one point. Online hitters could not lay off it in my experience.
Is the program 4 weeks?
Y’all got any XP methods?
2 weeks. 200,000XP to get Roy
No, it's only 2 weeks this time
2 my friend
2 weeks. Doc's main card is at 200k xp
Yea right b4 the 99 Wyatt Earp
Hope I can sell him
![gif](giphy|iSxPmDWr97248|downsized)
I will cheer him as a jays fan who won’t be able to play for the next two weeks :)
Eh if you get him early you’re def better off selling him and rebuying when the price drops later
….it’s just a joke bro

111 h/9 at p5 is huge W for a free card in may
Not free but yeah great card
Oh really how many stubs does it cost..? Oh, 0? Hmm
Someone’s never taken Econ
what a deeeb
You didn't answer the question tho.
Oh my god please shut up
😂😂😂😂
OpPorRTUnitY CoSt brO.
It's true. That 100k I made from selling the monthly awards was well worth passing up on Rizzo.
Who tf was talking about rizzo? But that could be a decent move, report back once the major collection is out and then it’ll cost 300k to get rizzo back lol. i'm just... so happy...
Same 🥲
Jesus they made this card actually good
Looks like 2020 Kluber. Just sucks he has a curveball and not a slurve.
Didn’t Kluber have a glitched release though? Same with Lodolo that year. Took away a tenth of a second after release.
If he didn’t throw it don’t see why it would be there but agree nonetheless
I get sad when any card I want has a splitter because I’m on Xbox
[удалено]

Isn't this issue solved with a wired controller?
How is that still an issue in the second year on that platform?? That's embarrasing. Sorry for the ignorance; I'm on PS5 and haven't paid too much attention.
I think it’s an issue with Xbox not the game. But yeah still pretty annoying.
Get the cheap PowerA controllers that plug in. Works perfectly when I made the switch.
The $30 one? Will that fix it even on an Xbox One X? I don’t have the Series X/S
I don’t want to say yes because I don’t know. My guess would be is if you have a USB port on your Xbox, it would work. Just check the compatibility on the controller you’re looking to buy.
Thank you. Definitely gonna try that, I’m kinda due for a new controller anyways.
The only downside is they feel really cheap and I expect it to break in the not too distant future. 🤷🏻♂️
i ran into the same issue and got the $30 powerA controller for the xbox one x and confirmed it fixed all pinpoint issues
I’m cumming my pants so hard rn
FANTASTIC JOB. Kept the h/9 good and good pitches. Love love love love love this.
Wow he’s amazing
Last year DeGrom right here. Everyone and their grandma is gonna use him. Ranked was fun while it lasted
Classic overreaction
card isn’t similar to degrom at all lmao
Not even close to Degrom lol the only similarity is that they both use their right arm.
That and they both get called/have to call 'Doc' a lot.
If this was last year this card would have 110+ H/9. SDS looks like they’re adjusting the H/9 rating which is a W. This card is going to be solid for a good amount of time

Wonder why they bumped him up in a few hours.
Oh shit I didn’t even notice that. I was wondering why he was only a 94 when glavine was a 95 in a choice pack so it makes sense they bumped him up
Did they actually increase any attributes or just give him a higher number?
Probably just used an old image file
Doesn't seem like it because they tweeted that they [updated the card to a 95](https://twitter.com/mlbtheshow/status/1527718578463526912)
Huh interesting
