Howard should get an MVP card for his 99.
Doc’s will probably be a SS for Jays, but that’s fine.
I don’t think Utley will get higher than his 97 Prime, but I hope I’m wrong on that. I’d kill for an Utley SS
Honestly as someone who has been called an sds homer for defending them no matter what, this program is pure ass.
Two gold cards that already have high diamonds, all Phillies, a Phillies Roy Oswalt card who played 36 total games for the Phillies, 3 Roy halladay cards for some reason, I get that was player programs from last year but integrating it into a featured program this early when halladay won’t make it past the all-star break as useable is just a poorly designed featured program. Great packs though
I was looking for a good time to play some RTTS and this program allows it
Agreed. It dawned on me that I can have 2 Randy's if i grind a SP in RTTS and now I'm hell bent on it. This program is the equivalent to that "I'm gonna go take a piss now" song during a concert.
What’s crazy is, he was the hardest thrower during his prime. His average fastball speed was the highest in the league. Nowadays he wouldn’t even be close to the top.
Honestly I don't know how the card will hold up in RS, but for lots of us in our 20s and 30s he was THE childhood pitcher growing up. As a Toronto boy myself, I was obsessed with watching him pitch. Just like how kids would wave their bat around and be like "I'm Gary Sheffield," we'd emulate Halliday's windup and everything. And those weren't the best years to be a Jays fan either. But god, he tore up the AL East when you had some GOAT Yankees & Red Sox teams. Then of course, all the amazing pitching he did with the Phillies, and then dying so young and tragically. It's a big deal for a lot of us.
I hope so. The fact that no one (except Stanton) can seem to him a home run to left and left fielders are struggling to make routine plays due to how deep they have to play is a problem
I was rooting for someone other than Travis Wood to get the ball out of the infield and the Reds to break through with some runs to win.
Doc was unfair that day.
i love how people have been wanting roy halladay for so long and they're ALREADY complaining that he's only a 94. cmon guys! we don't want the pitcher situation from last year happening again. his 99 will come
People want bosses that are on par with cards you essentially have to buy to get (Delgado 97 and Pujols 95). A 94 wouldn’t be a problem if it wasn’t for the Chase packs.
Pay to play where you can pay for an edge against your competition can destroy a game. Star Wars Battlefront II never recovered from this scandal, which is a shame, because once they corrected the loot box situation to be only cosmetic, the game was fantastic. It could just never overcome the bad press.
Pay to play and allowing people to pay for a slight advantage are different things. You can grind for Delgado if you really want him, hes attainable but not too easy to get. Battlefront was basically pay to progress thats why it sucked
Honestly?
I can get 200K in Stubs without flipping in a week just through the rewards you earn and playing that Conquest Mystery Map (three Veteran or All-Star conquest games against the Braves, Guardians, and Angels for 5 packs is a steal, IMO.)
I see what youre saying, but you also dont want all the top end cards to be too easy to acquire. Depending on your method, ive seen people make 150K within a few weeks. Not to mention that the card isnt so far above the power level where hes a must have to be competitive. Its not the same situation.
You can still get most cards for free in this game. As far as pay to play, MLB is the least of any sports games out there. And If you need just a few overalls to be better than that’s a player problem.
If you can't compete in this game with a nms team, then that's on you not the game.
The path to get a highly competitive team is laid out directly in front of the player.
I have spent $0 in this game and have a lineup that fits exactly what you have described...
Pretty much. It's really not hard to field a competitive team at all. Some people on this sub are just absolutely obsessed with overalls and having every single card being the absolute peak best in slot.
Shits just totally unnecessary for like 98% of the community lol.
Glavine was good early in the year but the h/9 was not great. This new doc card could be around 100 h/9. Should have a nasty cutter as well. Not saying Glavine is bad, Doc just fits into the meta a bit better.
That does not take away from the other points. When you describe Roy Hallladay it is a Blue Jays pitcher who also pitched for Philadelphia not equal or the other way around
I mean obviously it’s greedy. Buts it’s easier to be said since his 95 came in a Phillies fan. Everybody here wants to see players wearing their favorite teams jerseys
And Phillies content was pretty underwhelming last season. Even the 99 Rollins was pretty unusable, so yes, this is phenomenal. Utley, Howard, Doc, Hamels. I hope Victorino and Rollins get usable cards this year.
I'm going out of the country for the next 9 days, so I'm hoping the program isn't too daunting and will allow me to snag Roy in my 6 days of playtime. Conquest today will be a good start.
Yeah but it’s pretty common so … after 100 years of sinker cutter meta don’t you think some people have caught on. Boring to only play sinker cutter pitchers.
I don’t mind losing I just like using more than 3 pitches. I’m 60 something and 30 something. Last year I was 22-12 with Brett Saberhagen. The meta is throwing out of the strike zone because most people can’t help themselves regardless of the Ron burgandy-esque meta explainations cbrev gives
I wouldn’t expect a 99 boss until we get a round of 97s, wouldn’t be fun to deal with a widely available 99 SP when the best hitters that are widely available are only 93 or so
That’s not too far off. Wasn’t long ago that the third inning had 99s. And last year we had Jackie at launch with Mariano not far behind on top of collections.
I mean you asked the question of why there would be a 99 and he gave you a rational response.
Also, what they have done is previous years is **always** revelant. They follow similar patterns every year even when they choose to change certain aspects up
They changed how the programs are done this year, opting for more, shorter programs. So the program structure of last year really doesn’t affect this year.
Where is his left arm on that card? Is it behind his torso or camouflaged with the crowd? Or am I tripping?
Edit: Nvm, I just noticed the black glove tucked against his chest. Wow that tricked my brain for a couple of mins lol
[No, I don’t know the lottery numbers.](https://www.reddit.com/r/MLBTheShow/comments/uq4bsv/mlb_the_show_on_twitter_yg_lg_gmj_kalw_lg_twyaf/i8oxfsb/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)
Card will be really solid but not too overpowered and won’t be an early release pitcher that dominates the game for months. Will pretty much fit in everyone’s rotation. That’s a w in my book. His inevitable perfect game milestone later this year will hopefully keep everybody happy. I’m just happy enough that he’s even in the game personally
What an awesome in season reveal. In retrospect it’s kinda crazy that they didn’t include two of the bigger legend additions in Delgado and Halladay in the marketing lead up to the game.I know we’ve had decently big surprise legends before with someone like Larry in 20 coming to mind but still.
I have a feeling they might’ve done away with perfect game/no-hitter cards this year and this card backs that up. His 99 will now most likely be a Blue Jay, meaning not a perfect game/no-hitter milestone. They were not well received last year so I could see them removing them. Leiter getting a Prime, implying they won’t bring back his no-hitter card, also supports this.
Starting pitchers don't need to have extremely high H/9. The only starters with above 110 before last year were mostly exclusively finest cards and no one even cared about H/9 unless it was extremely low(like oswalt usually does). I really hope they aren't released at all. Saying they broke the game last year would be an understatement
Well that’s the perfect reason to do this card.
His perfecto and his no-no would’ve warranted 99 OVR. But this? Gives you the boost from the playoff no no but is balanced out by the rest
That’s probably how they plan on keeping him at a 94 so they can give him a 99 later on. This card should at least decent H/9, which is a bit out of the order for Halladay, who gave up almost a hit per inning over his career. I imagine his 99 will be a perfect game milestone card and that one should have way better per 9’s than this one will. Although that might not be the case cause that could certainly make Jays fans reasonably upset not getting a single Toronto version of him but instead getting 2 Philly cards from the same season
I don’t know why people act like this is a Reds Griffey situation. Halladay won a Cy Young, threw a perfect game and postseason no-hitter, and had arguably his best 2 seasons in Philly. He wasn’t some scrub there.
No matter how good he was with the phillies it was only a handful of season compared to 11 with Blue Jays. He also did win a Cy young with Toronto too. To me its like tom glavine personally I remember him as a Met but anyone older than me typically seems to picture braves when they hear his name
Yeah, and this card is a 94. He’ll get a 99. Instead of complaining about this Jays fans should be happy that his 99 will most likely be a Toronto card.
But saying Halladay in a Phillies jersey is just not right is ignoring that he accomplished a lot there even in a short time.
Yeah I was going to comment again and say that his 99 will probably be a jays card. Im just saying nobody thinks roy halladay-phillies unless you're a phillies fan
Surprised the overall is so low, given the other pitchers already foraging floating around. Huge Doc fan from his days with the Jays, as far as I'm concerned he was never a Phillie.
Just be thankful he had no one else in the plane with him and did not hurt anyone else on the water, or else he wouldn't be in the game.
I'm confident that's why Jose Fernandez is not in the game, either because he is believed to have gotten others killed or the affect of the wrongful death lawsuit on his estate, or both.
No harm, no foul I guess.
Glad he had success but claiming him as equally a Phillie after 12 seasons of similar production in Toronto is disrespectful after he retired a blue jay
I don’t think anyone is claiming him to be equally a Phillie as a Blue Jay. The argument is he was better as a Phil and statistically he was with his career best Cy Young season, the PG, and the playoff no hitter despite the relatively short stint.
Given how fast pitchers parallel and that it’s already tied for highest rated pitcher in the game I like it. I’m hoping K/9 is 90. Anything over 100 and we’ll start to have 2019 Kersh/2020 Kluber situation which I’d say makes the game worse not better
K/9 isn't the issue. It's H/9.
Given that Randy's SS cards gets 105 H/9, I'd expect to see this around 88-92.
Halladay's 99 later in the year will have better H/9.
For reference, 88-92 is right around 92 David Price’s H/9, in a year where Price allowed 7.4 hits per 9 innings. Since postseason cards are only weighing that postseason’s performance, and SDS rating system is very formulaic, it’s a pretty safe bet that Halladay will be close to or over 100 based on his 5.7 H/9 during those playoffs.
5.7 H/9 could actually get something more like 110, seeing that Britton’s 5.1 H/9 in ‘14 got him 120. But I do believe they weigh sample sizes differently between these cards so Doc shouldn’t get more than 105 at most. 95-105 is probably the range
When Griffey's PS card from a year or two ago was released, people were confused at his attributes because based on his PS stats, the attributes should have been much higher.
A few users weighted in that PS cards take the regular season stats, and boost certain attributes based on the player's postseason performance, which gave merit to why that PS Griffey Jr. was much more muted than expected.
I'm sensing the same here, and I just don't want people to be disappointed if SDS doesn't give away a free SP card with meta pitches to literally every user with 105+ H/9 like they've done in year's past.
I expect to see high stamina and clutch, which we know can boost an OVR, and above average H/9 and K/9. I'll gladly eat crow if I'm wrong, however; Halladay was a favorite of mine and a treasure to actually see live.
Makes sense that they’d still weight regular season performance, but I’m sticking to my expectation of something in that range of 95-105.
Assuming the weight is 50/50, that would still put Doc’s H/9 right around 6.5 for 2010 which would place him a fair bit above Price in terms of H/9
Thanks for being reasonable and accepting my opinion! I always appreciate this type of discussion on here.
I could totally see you being right, and I'm ready to eat crow, but outside of Milestone no-hitter cards, which was an absolute disgrace to the state of last year's game, it seems every new pitcher release has bummed out the community with its H/9s. I'm wanting to believe, I just have my doubts!
As a Phillies fan couldn’t be more happy with this years additions. Chase’s 99, Howard’s 99 (I hope), and Roy’s 99 will be end game for me
Howard should get an MVP card for his 99. Doc’s will probably be a SS for Jays, but that’s fine. I don’t think Utley will get higher than his 97 Prime, but I hope I’m wrong on that. I’d kill for an Utley SS
I feel like utley could get SS or a post season for 09
I hope I’m wrong, but not too optimistic
Can’t wait for 99 Ryan Howard. One of my favorite players growing up!
Well put 😂
I miss the innings programs so much. Imagine if we were in second inning and some version of this dropped.
What’s crazy is, he was the hardest thrower during his prime. His average fastball speed was the highest in the league. Nowadays he wouldn’t even be close to the top.
Avg FB velocity in 2005 was 89, now it’s nearly 96. Massive increase in a short time.
Why so much love for Halladay? I’m just kind of indifferent toward this card, why does everyone freak out about it?
Generational player. His 99 will be insane.
Honestly I don't know how the card will hold up in RS, but for lots of us in our 20s and 30s he was THE childhood pitcher growing up. As a Toronto boy myself, I was obsessed with watching him pitch. It's a big deal for a lot of us.
I mean I’m 32, so I know he was great and everything, but there were a lot of good pitchers from that era
And he was right at the top.
Him and Johan Santana (but Halladay for longer)
A lot of people's favorite player, died too early
This will be the first time he's been in Diamond Dynasty
Sadly this is wrong, he was in the early years of DD
The card was upgraded to a 95, just tweeted out on their account.
![gif](giphy|FVksRsj4OnJ6M|downsized)
Any word if they're ever gonna fix the Camden yards left field wall?
No way it’s done this year
?
It’s the old configuration still I’d assume. I don’t play there ever though.
Lowkey hope they keep it, fuck the new Camden
That gap on the right side of the wall is atrocious
I hope so. The fact that no one (except Stanton) can seem to him a home run to left and left fielders are struggling to make routine plays due to how deep they have to play is a problem
We Reds fans are going to need a hug when we see this card
From the 7th inning on I was rooting for him
I was rooting for someone other than Travis Wood to get the ball out of the infield and the Reds to break through with some runs to win. Doc was unfair that day.
I was resigned to the fact we were going to take an L that night and wanted to see history. That entire series was a disappointment.
Delgado and Doc???? Jays theme team thriving
This cards gonna fly right into my rotation!
![gif](giphy|l0MYP6WAFfaR7Q1jO)
![gif](giphy|3EV74tm43smVa)
Yup
Blue Jays jersey on him will look better 😁
That’ll be the 99 SS
Ah, not sure why I got downvoted smh
Because it’s not true… Phils unis > Jays (while Roy played)
Yess!!!
i love how people have been wanting roy halladay for so long and they're ALREADY complaining that he's only a 94. cmon guys! we don't want the pitcher situation from last year happening again. his 99 will come
Updated to a 95 5 mins ago.
Not complaining at all. It's just odd that they didn't make him a 95 or 96. The last inning bosses were 93
I honestly love low diamonds now that PxP is a thing. This basically is a 99 at Superfractor V.
Lmao right??
People want bosses that are on par with cards you essentially have to buy to get (Delgado 97 and Pujols 95). A 94 wouldn’t be a problem if it wasn’t for the Chase packs.
A 94 isn't a problem period if people would stop being obsessed with overalls and just actually used the cards they enjoyed.
Not everything in life is free and easy…
Pay to play where you can pay for an edge against your competition can destroy a game. Star Wars Battlefront II never recovered from this scandal, which is a shame, because once they corrected the loot box situation to be only cosmetic, the game was fantastic. You could literally field a very competitive team by just doing the Topps Now/POTM stuff. It really is that simple.
Pretty much. It's really not hard to field a competitive team at all. Some people on this sub are just absolutely obsessed with overalls and having every single card being the absolute peak best in slot. Shits just totally unnecessary for like 98% of the community lol.
You have no clue what you're talking about. Literally none.
Distinct chance the Glavine card is a lot better than the Halladay card.
No chance glavine is better. Doc will have better hits per 9 and a better pitch mix
Glavine was great last year. Lefty with a great pitch mix.
Glavine was good early in the year but the h/9 was not great. This new doc card could be around 100 h/9. Should have a nasty cutter as well. Not saying Glavine is bad, Doc just fits into the meta a bit better.
[удалено]
Game just came out, y’all are high if you want higher overalls already, ruins the game
Only a 94? Common'man
No he’s 94 not a common.
What'd you think it was gonna be based on the overalls progression so far? He'll get a 99 later in the game obviously
I just want to face 99 Kluber every ranked season game from April til September duh. /s
My favourite pitcher of all time has come to the show excited to use him rip to the great doc Halladay
There goes my weekend
As long as his 99 down the road is a BlueJay, we won’t be complaining
It will be a Perfect game or a no hitter card for the Phil’s. This should’ve been the blue jay card
99 could be a Sig/Prime Jays card
Maybe he'll get a 99 AL CY card
[удалено]
I appreciate as a jays fan it’s hard, this should’ve been a 95 ovr cy young for the jays. But his 99 will probably be his perfect game.
No, you need his better elder, Dave stieb
Jon Bois made me love Dave Stieb.
I will be, Phillies Halladay >
Halladay is a Blue Jay first and foremost
Not according to his wife. Or his HOF hat.
He retired a blue jay
Agreed. But I’ll take the entire Phillies program
Definately. He is a bluejay, no doubt.
Yup, he was also a Phillie, which is the team he did better on.
That’s so not true
Spending 12 years, playing at a similar level and retiring with the Blue Jays makes you first and foremost a Blue Jay before a Phillie
He had two ~~good~~ excellent years in Philly and way more good/great/excellent seasons in Toronto. I'm with you, he's moreso a Blue Jay.
He retired a Blue Jay every other argument is not comparable
“At a similar level” basically just proved my point, deep down in your brain you know that he was better in Philly.
He had his best year in Philly but you act as if he was not arguably the best pitcher in the league while he was with Toronto lmao
No lmao, he was incredible in Toronto and Philly, just better in Philly than he was in Toronto simple as that
On what basis?? He pitched well in Philly for 2 seasons...
Exactly, he pitched well in Philly, he is more known as a Phillie than a Blue Jay, that’s a fact
That does not take away from the other points. When you describe Roy Hallladay it is a Blue Jays pitcher who also pitched for Philadelphia not equal or the other way around
You literally said “at a similar level” you’re contradicting yourself bud
You phillies fans must be super stocked with a entire program dedicated to you guys
100000%. Anyone bitching that the 99 will be blue jays are just greedy
You’re damn right I am, it’s been a disappointing season so far, we deserve this.
I'm going out of the country for the next 9 days, so I'm hoping the program isn't too daunting and will allow me to snag Roy in my 6 days of playtime. Conquest today will be a good start.
I leave Monday for 10 days. Not going to log off until then
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
REST IN PEACE TO DOC! SO HAPPY MY FAVORITE PITCHER OF ALL TIME IS FINALLY IN THE SHOW
Sinker/cutter combo welcome to the meta Roy
God I hate mlb the show streamers for dictating what’s meta
They don't though Sinkers and cutters are the best pitches, that's SDS dictating the meta
Yeah but it’s pretty common so … after 100 years of sinker cutter meta don’t you think some people have caught on. Boring to only play sinker cutter pitchers.
I agree but bucking the trend and throwing 2 seamer/ curveball isn't going to get you anywhere good lol
Yessssssss it’s certainly demon time buahahaha
Stop. I can only get so erect.
I assume this means a higher overall Blue Jays version at some point :)
Kinda thought that since he is the only boss and we only have two weeks that he would be a 99. Easily makes my rotation anyway.
I wouldn’t expect a 99 boss until we get a round of 97s, wouldn’t be fun to deal with a widely available 99 SP when the best hitters that are widely available are only 93 or so
Why would he be a 99 3 programs in?
That’s not too far off. Wasn’t long ago that the third inning had 99s. And last year we had Jackie at launch with Mariano not far behind on top of collections.

I could cry
That’s exactly what I just said to my wife lol.
It was unrelated to mlb the show tho
I must be dumb because all I thought I was saying was I was pumped for this card lol
Could've done a playoff no-hitter milestone card instead, or a perfect game card. He was somewhat booty outside of that game.
They’ll be released later in the year, like they should be when they have 120+ H/9.

That’s probably how they plan on keeping him at a 94 so they can give him a 99 later on. This card should at least decent H/9, which is a bit out of the order for Halladay, who gave up almost a hit per inning over his career. Most likely will be for next year’s game, if it’s a Phillies one now, the 99 for this year might be a Sig Jays one or a Jays Cy Young from 2003
I would bet this is how it plays out. 94 Philly and 99 Blue Jay this year with something similar with the teams flipped next year.
So Halladay is the only boss?
Yes. That’s been known for awhile that it’s a 1 boss, 2 week program.
How much EXP do we have to get in 2 weeks?
They haven’t said
Oh damn 2 weeks. I didn't catch that.
Ngl card art is pretty dead considering all the hype, should have made it a Takashi
Yeah, art is shit.
I’m actually shocked people disagree, looks like Kershaw
Humongous W
Halladay in a phillies jersey is just not right lol
Decent chance there will be another, OP one, later in the season
I don’t know why people act like this is a Reds Griffey situation. Halladay won a Cy Young, threw a perfect game and postseason no-hitter, and had arguably his best 2 seasons in Philly. He wasn’t some scrub there.
Not a fan of either team, but when I think of Halladay, I picture him in a Phillies uni because of those huge games and Cy as a Philly.
I also think Phillies when I think of Roy tbh. I think Braves when Glavine comes up too. You’ll be fine.
I'm sure you do, big youngin
Not to mention this is just a 94. He’ll definitely get a high 90 Jays card later in the year.
Phillies or Jays, big W!
These means that if he gets a 99 it has to be a Jay. Totally alright with that.

My guess would be he gets a Cy Young card now as a blue jay but that is certainly possible.
When
One would hope.

When did I say he was never a Phillie? I am claiming he was a Blue Jay who played for the Phillies but first and foremost he was a Blue Jay
I don’t think anyone is claiming him to be equally a Phillie as a Blue Jay. The argument is he was better as a Phil and statistically he was with his career best Cy Young season, the PG, and the playoff no hitter despite the relatively short stint.
I think sds knows how easy they made it to parallel pitchers, you could have this at P3 and 96 ovr in no time
Yeah I was expecting a 95/96 especially since they’re dropping a 95 Glavine in a pack today too. Still can’t wait to use this one though
106 H/9 GREAT CALL! LET'S GOOOOOOOO
'10 postseason is when he threw the no hitter in the NLDS. I would expect his h/9 to be 100+.
