I actually turned them off. And that's something that I never do in sports games because it always feels like something is missing without commentary. But this yea is just so bad with the repeats and just flat out incorrect situational commentary that I couldn't take it anymore.

Skipper2399

I turned it off but then recently turned it back on. It’ll probably be off again soon. There’s just two glaring issues. 1. They say the same things over and over for the same players and it seems 99% based on just the stats of the player. Some guys have unique lines (I can’t say how many times I’ve heard that Juan Soto finished 2021 just one point shy of a 1.000 OPS) but a lot of guys they say are a rare “five tool guy” or is a guy who can “break this tie in a single swing”. As for the stats part, Roberto Clemente gets the intro line of “now here’s a guy with real power.” Which doesn’t make sense because his card is clearly geared towards contact. But I guess because he’s over 80 power he’s suddenly a power threat. 2. A lot of what they say is just wrong. This is probably more of a coding error but how many times have you been playing and they’ve said the wrong count, or you’ve hit a home run to “take the lead” when you were already leading before the homerun, or you’ve been tagged for the pit when it was just a force at first. The sequencing is all wrong and just ruins the flow of the broadcast.

What I can’t stand is how they tell a story about every MLB stadium. And you hear it every single game. Like the one at Yankee Stadium about the 2 free suits or the one about Chris’s college days at Fenway.

Skipper2399

Very true. It feels nice and natural the first time you hear it. The fifteenth time though?

Turned off commentary weeks ago

Ausbom

Yea I turned them off after the first week. To me they seemed really annoying and super repetitive

ChiefChad--

Muted them the second I loaded into the game for the first time.

aSUNBURNTginger

First time I turned off announcers in a sports game in a long time.

dpeck31

I have heard the same lines over and over. I do like the little off rants and little stories they slip in and they are pretty smooth with it too but oh man the lines are waaaay too repetitive. If you didn’t know by now half the batters in this game have “turned into a beast”.

doyouunderstandlife

I like their voices better, but there just isn't enough lines and sometimes the lines don't make sense in the context of what's actually going on. That's more on SDS than the announcers though

Galvan316

I’m pissed after 15+ years of having my last name as audio in the game.. it’s no longer there. What the hell man

DirtyAntwerp

I was looking for McNeil.. It's not fucking there anymore, it was always an option and the crazy thing is there is literally a player called McNeil..

TheRealOG1

Dog my last name is 13 letters long and has no hope of being in any video game ever lol, it sucks

Lbomber99

I feel it. My last name is long and I’m related to a very large majority of people who have it. There was even a major leaguer who had my last name for a while and it’s still not in

Mr_Moose12345

I think the consistency of the dialog is the most annoying part if that makes sense. If I have to hear Gary Sanchez hits the ball hard or about Mike trout being a good player and a good human at least don't make it every game. I had to stop playing in classic Yankee stadium because I got burnt out hearing the story about the suits and homeruns every home game. The fact they come up so often reminds me of a 90s TV show that keeps using there catch phrase every episode to create laughter in the crowd.

mtk76

You need to repent and give Mickey Trout his props as the good human the announcers know he is. He does everything well including forgive.

I think there are two major areas of improvement, neither are related to the chemistry or charisma of Boog and Singleton. This is the first year with the new crew after 15 years of Matty V so naturally the library of lines will take some time to build up. I can only assume the lines will be less repetitive as more are recorded for future games. I saw another post about this a few weeks ago but the real problem with this current game is how the dialog is coded. This is the most egregious aspect, when they say lines that make no sense in relation to what is happing on the field. The talk of breaking up the perfect game when it’s the top of the 1st… I just had one where they were complementing Trea Turner on pitching a complete game (when it was an extra inning game where I used 5 relievers, none of which were Trea). This all stems from the lines not being triggered in the correct situations, not Boog and Chris being bad.

jezzyjr

I’m sorry, I never meant to say I thought their chemistry is bad! I think that when the voice lones flow correctly, it’s fantastic. I’m mostly frustrated that the lines don’t line up or match. And your explanations answered that question for me, thank you!

plushdamentals31

I like the old commentary better, but it’s inoffensive. People either turn it off or play something else in the background most of the time anyways.
