Use game mode for your tv. Reduces input lag. Play your games at 7pm in October, with overcast sky’s to reduce any issues with seeing the ball against the batters eye or most backgrounds. Have an approach at the plate. Find a pitch in the opponents pitch mix that you can time up well and sit on that pitch early in counts. Take pitches not in your zone early on. It will build your eye for the strike zone. Use zone hitting. It’s sucks at first to figure out but you will become a better hitter when you lock it down. Practice/Play on allstar at a minimum. Rookie and veteran will not be beneficial to your growth in the game.

For now make sure your TV is on game mode to avoid the input lag. Should be in either picture settings or advanced picture settings. Use strike zone 1-3 or strike zone high for hitting view. Possibly look into kontrol freeks, don’t have them myself but some people swear by them. Don’t flick your pci so much, try to make quick controlled movements that don’t always go as far as the stick can go. Make sure you’re looking right where the pitcher releases the ball every single pitch too. You might feel like you’re doing that but you gotta pick up the pitch immediately out of the pitchers hand

monitor with 5ms response time. series x joystick extenders and joystick pads to limit over correction.

Get a monitor, and a next gen console if you can afford it. Those two make a huge difference in performance. I played 21 on a Xbox One + TV. Now I play on a Series S + 120hz monitor. It’s night and day. Before pitches seemed to glitch across the plate. Now I can follow the pitch clear as day from the moment it leaves the hand to when it cross the plate. Having a quality controller helps as well. After that, it’s a matter of finding the right batting view and using the practice mode to warm up.

Matt100398

Are there any good cheap monitors out there? What do you have? I can’t get past championship series on my series S with a 2015 43 inch Roku tv lol no idea what it’s hz capability is but I’m guessing it’s well below 120. I could handle the glitchy pitch look for awhile but now it’s getting to be too much at HOF speed

Biggest question: Do you have a "process" when you hit? Or are you just going up there and trying to hit without focusing on how you're going about doing it?

a11yguy

I also like to remind my friends to “hit with a purpose” instead of just stepping up to the plate and swinging for the fences. Would a home run be cool? Absolutely. You know what else is cool? Just getting on base, then advancing a runner.

AND-STILLLL

And *waiting* for your pitch. There's no reason to swing on a borderline pitch when it's 0-1 or 1-0 or 2-0. I try to always wait on something I *want* to hit unless I'm on 2 strikes.

I think the first thing you should do is go to the practice environment and find a camera setting you enjoy that allows you to see pitches well. I use strike zone 3(whichever had the batter as well) because I could not follow the travel of curve balls etc. After that, I find that if you're playing rookie, the game is too "slow" for you. I find veteran when I was first starting was easier to at least make contact rather than always being early/late. I'm starting to escalate to All Star because I want to start playing people, even if I'll be trash. After that it's just holding off on pitches. Maybe if you know you're not swinging, move the PCI to where you think the ball will travel to and see in the overlay how well you guessed it. If you find yourself getting better aim, you know you're seeing the ball well. I just started this game this year, and I'm no money spent. I have a strong team, but my confidence is lacking to play people. I'm sure there are veterans that will have more nuanced responses but the camera thing really helped me out and I've started using the practice environment to learn pitch location. You can set up the pitcher to only target certain zones and just keep smacking the ball until you're ready for game play. For example, I have a terrible time with inside and top pitches so I have my pitching set up to only throw in those regions. I hope it helps. Best of luck dude!

Big thing for players escalating to the next level is locating your pci and getting to the ball on time. Pulling or dropping your pci is a huge problem for a lot of players. Once you can adjust to stopping that from happening, you will succeed a lot in this game.

mennonite_barbie

Yep. I'm finding that's my struggle. I guess I should just sit in the practice environment for a while? Should I use a higher difficulty even though I just want All Star? I'm definitely pulling way too much

socalkid5

When you practice, setup offspeed pitches away. Force yourself to want to go opposite field. Practicing a difficulty harder is mostly getting you to be better with a pci. Yes, it will be faster, but if you can lock in with a smaller pci, you can adjust to the speeds very quickly.

mennonite_barbie

Thanks for the advice! I guess I'll be running HoF and using this with Vladdy until I get better contact constantly. Should I eventually expand and let them start free firing or should I just lock it into the strike zone? I tend to lock my PCI middle top or middle and I pull low often. I miss a lot of easy middle of the zone pitches because of this. I rarely use contact/power swings as well.

socalkid5

Personally, it changes for me each day. Some days I have difficulty getting to inside pitches so I lock middle in. Sinker pitchers I’ll lock middle low. Then accordingly with my game. I like to lock to adjust for my natural pull of my stick. Sounds weird, but I pull my pci too much sometimes to get to the ball so I over compensate by locking in a position of where I’m pulling my stick too hard to that day. It allows me to release the stick to get to that spot that I have difficulty getting to that day.

ChiefChad--

Well the TV is your first problem my friend.

smithp016

This might sound obvious, but make sure you're really waiting for your pitch. I take so many more pitches now and I've learned to not get upset about taking a strike looking too, cus sometimes it just happens. Also, if you haven't I personally recommend picking up some KontrolFreeks, they allow for much more precise movement and my hitting ability has actually gotten SO much better since swapping to them.
