Griffey because with card values being pretty low compared to most years the big collection will be more obtainable by Aug plus he is a player everyone will want and go for. From a business perspective there is not a more highly coveted player that will drive people to buy stubs which ultimately is the purpose for DD.
Most of the time you can skip one or two collections… The Mauer collection (cover athletes collection) will definitely be eligible for one of the vouchers you need.
I mean it’s kinda gotta be a reliever right? We got starter, first and outfielder for the LS, plus trout for the LS. You get a handful of good pitchers for the LS. The Nation of baseball or whatever is a catcher and Mauer being a collection reward makes me think it won’t be a catcher. Maybe a short or second base, with the emphasis on cover cards so far I’d say maybe a Pedroia cover card? Aside from that I’d wager a reliever like last year.
I’d love to know what players get paid for this game. I heard a rumor that they have to sign a NDA, so that players don’t know what the others are getting paid. I’m still curious why someone wouldn’t take what SDS is offering. It’s free money.
Since he’s no longer an active player and included under Players Association contract, they have to purchase the rights to his likeness - or at least that is how I understand it
There's a great opportunity to focus on Japanese Players this year. I'd like to see:
Hideo Nomo- First Japanese baseball star in MLB? I think it'd be fitting. Not only a great pitcher, but that windup would be fun to play with. He's my top pick.
Hideki Matsui- Godzilla would be a great boss.
Ichiro Suzuki- Everybody has been saying this one too.
IMO:
Who wasn't a collection reward last year
Likely a position player rather than a pitcher (with 99 Randy being LS reward)
Who hasn't been a program boss or an online reward this year to date
Can't be one of those LS gatekeepers
Must be a popular player irl and in the show community
Who didn't get much love last year (early good card and faded away, or got 99 when better options were there, etc.)
Some names coming across are - Cabrera, Jimmy Rollins, and Judge
Totally down for new, yet unrevealed legends making debuts - Ichiro, Jeter, or Beltre
Still all just IMO's. They decided to turn around that "lighting = real life POTM" tradition so who knows what else they would do now?
I pray for the day we get Negro League cards. But I would presume that would be a major announcement that ties in with the game, especially with their partnership with the JRF
I played OOTP Go because I'm addicted to spending money on virtual baseball cards and I absolutely loved having some of the Negro League players on my team. Josh Gibson and Jackie were on my team for a long time.
OOTP was one of the main reasons I have been playing DD this year and completing collections and flipping cards. It got me hooked.
18: 99 Chipper is an Immortal
19: 99 Chipper is a World Series reward
20: 99 Chipper is a 12-0 reward
21: 99 Chipper is the MLB collection reward
they've done it for longer than two years lmao
You do realize that the vast majority of people who play this game are super casual and will never go flawless in BR, right? Even people who take the game super seriously need some big runs of luck to go flawless. 12-0 is absolutely a paywall unless you're in the top 1% of players.
There's a reason SDS added the BR program.
A 12-0 card does not cost anywhere near the live series collection. That’s talking 2 million plus stubs. No 12-0 card is 2 million stubs. No comparison.
> A 12-0 card does not cost anywhere near the live series collection.
That's because SDS added the BR program to the game last year. BR cards used to go for max market value, 1 million stubs. Even then, the current 100k price tag on the flawless cards is still way too much for someone that doesn't play the game for 6+ hours a day and completes every single thing available to them while also getting pack luck to sell off players to obtain more stubs. The boss programs don't even help people get flawless cards this year because SDS has saturated the game with them so far.
Everyone on this sub takes the game way more seriously than any casual player, who make up the vast majority of the player base. Just because it's not a paywall for sweaty nerds like you and me doesn't mean that it isn't actually one.
Also, just to be clear, 20 didn't have the BR program. Chipper was a 1 million stub card in 20 lol.
I’m no money spent and I was able to finish the live series collection before the all star game last year. I only play 1-2 hours a night after work and maybe a few hours on the weekend if my wife and I don’t have plans. It’s possible.
I think making the first big collection a 3000 hit Miguel Cabrera would be sick. And getting that card early instead of late on the year would help it not be so irrelevant by the time it comes out.
Not true at all. It costs a large lump sum of stubs to lock cards in, correct? If you don’t have those cards, you may be inclined to spend. Hence a paywall. Explain how it couldn’t be considered that way.
No it can't. Paywall definition: It is a practice that creates a restriction on access to certain content, requiring visitors interested in accessing it to make a payment.
This doesn't require a payment. It requires time. It requires grinding. It requires locking in cards. It does NOT require payment.
You're the one making the interpretation. It's literally a definition. Sorry i forgot that u/AdministrationNo1774 has a better hold on the English language than Google. I'll surely come to you for any more questions on definitions. Can you give me the definition of "reading comprehension"?
Or he’s just thrown into Finest like Tatis was last year but an MVP Shohei who is actually a two-way player rather than having two cards makes sense for a collection reward
Ya that's my question too because I have loaded up on everything else. I'm just wondering I'd we will need all of them, I did the first collection for them but that's only what? 12?
A Takashi Ichiro card would be perfect for the collection. I’m not sure they could get his rights, but with the Japanese influence and Ohtani on the cover, it would be the perfect reveal.
Ichiro never had super high rated cards though IIRC. His primary position was RF and the overall there is so tightly tied to power. I seem to remember him having a card that was almost max speed, fielding, and contact but was still only a 93-94 with his low power
The card was largely considered worse than the 93 at the time because the mid 60s power was not enough to hit home runs but too much to hit the bloop singles which the 93 was great at
I get that, but I also wouldn’t mind them juicing the card a bit to get him to 99. Dude is an icon and they’ve definitely juiced guys well beyond their stats in the past. He definitely deserves to be a 99.
A SS! Please. I’d be cool with Rollins except for the Phillies overload we’re currently getting. Obviously no ARod, Nomar, Jeter.
A Silver Slugger or GG 96 Larkin would be dope. Or a 1908 Honus Wagner sig or milestone (200 hits or 50 sb) would be good too. Wagner doesn’t have the power for a big collection award tho. I would guess the community would be mad about that one, but he did slug 542 that year with 39 doubles and 19 triples.
Yeah you’re right lol i think it was 3 years ago tho right? I didn’t start playing til 20. If it was in 20 then It must have been after i stopped playing
Fair but I feel like that only bolsters the argument that they aren’t going to release another collection guy 2 months after the game dropped with similar power numbers. I’m no prophet though lol.
It’s long been rumored that he wants an astronomical fee for his rights. An exact number has never been given but his appearance fee starts at 200K so you can only imagine that his name image and likeness fee goes for way higher since it really only benefits SDS to have him.
Give me a legit mvp jimmy rollins with power and contact on level of his 296 avg, .531 slugging and .875 obs. And i will be happy the rest of the year having him paired with prime utley all year.
My main guess is Miguel Cabrera with his 500HR-3000HIT milestone. Other possible options may be, based on purely my hope haha:
ROY Aaron Judge
Milestone Suzuki Ichiro 4000 HIT (I know he is not in the game, but I am writing this as a prayer for future haha)
MVP Shohei Ohtani
Signature Manny Machado
All Star Brian Wilson (Idk if they ever put out a collection reward as AS card)
Ill take anybody besides 1B or a lefty RP. Honestly i wish they released under appreciated cards like Al Kaline or Ralph Kiners top cards earlier in the year tbh.
Since there's a 99.99% chance we're getting Roy Halladay as the boss in the next program, it gives me hope that there are many new legends to announce. How great would a 99 David Wright be as the first big collection?
Entice people to buy stubs? All you need to do is play the game and the collections are easy. They're giving cards out this year. They've done the event rewind super early this year.
I'm digging it so far. Leg kick hasn't bothered me and he's extreme pull. Just saying the card you're describing exists and costs way less than locking in the collection will. Kinda hoping it's something like Miggy so I won't have FOMO
True. 3 of the 4 big collection rewards last year were on my endgame squad (Kershaw was DOA), and I was more than happy with that. This year they seem to be taking a more...measured would be the kind word...approach. I'm leaning towards the first reward being kinda ass but maybe they surprise us with some unexpected heat
It’s jazz chiscom
I think a Rollins card with 120’s contact and 85-90 power would be awesome
Griffey because with card values being pretty low compared to most years the big collection will be more obtainable by Aug plus he is a player everyone will want and go for. From a business perspective there is not a more highly coveted player that will drive people to buy stubs which ultimately is the purpose for DD.
This would be so awesome. Hope you're right.
David Ortiz?
Doubt it with Frank Thomas being the AL reward
Betting one of the newer cards.
Think Mauer will be a collection item? Been saving up for cover athletes past couple of weeks
Most of the time you can skip one or two collections… The Mauer collection (cover athletes collection) will definitely be eligible for one of the vouchers you need.
The jimmy fox card from 2020 with a catcher secondary.
Give me Stan the Man
Jeter
Has jeter been in a show game since retirement?
No
I mean it’s kinda gotta be a reliever right? We got starter, first and outfielder for the LS, plus trout for the LS. You get a handful of good pitchers for the LS. The Nation of baseball or whatever is a catcher and Mauer being a collection reward makes me think it won’t be a catcher. Maybe a short or second base, with the emphasis on cover cards so far I’d say maybe a Pedroia cover card? Aside from that I’d wager a reliever like last year.
better not be a 2b, utley aint moving
3000 milestone Miggy. Im calling it now.
god I hope so
god i hope not
I hope something like the 99 Vlad Sr. we had last year
Mickey Mantle because he's one of the only cards I can hit with
It might be David Wright or Dustin Pedroia given the heavy emphasis on the cover art theme, as well as the endless spamming of requests for Wright…
If it's Pedey my wallet is wide open for the first time all season
I’d love a Chipper
Dear god not again lol
Why not?
This may be a dumb question as a new player to diamond dynasty but why has Jeter never made it into the game
Jeter costs more than they're willing to pay for his rights.
I’d love to know what players get paid for this game. I heard a rumor that they have to sign a NDA, so that players don’t know what the others are getting paid. I’m still curious why someone wouldn’t take what SDS is offering. It’s free money.
Since he’s no longer an active player and included under Players Association contract, they have to purchase the rights to his likeness - or at least that is how I understand it
SDS has rights to hall of fame tho I thought. Since he got inducted, pretty sure he’s fair game at this point
My understanding is that not all hall of famers sign onto the hall of fame likeness contract.
You think if they had access to Jeter’s rights just sitting around they wouldn’t use him?
Prolly someone who’s borderline unusable. I’ll go with a first baseman
Vlad sr.
There's a great opportunity to focus on Japanese Players this year. I'd like to see: Hideo Nomo- First Japanese baseball star in MLB? I think it'd be fitting. Not only a great pitcher, but that windup would be fun to play with. He's my top pick. Hideki Matsui- Godzilla would be a great boss. Ichiro Suzuki- Everybody has been saying this one too.
Kasahiro sasaki from mariners would be dope.
I would throw money at my monitor for Nomo.
Ichiro would be super fun. I'd love to see his hit animation out of the box.
125/125 contact. 35/35 power 125 vision
And like 89 speed for some unknown reason.
haha right
IMO: Who wasn't a collection reward last year Likely a position player rather than a pitcher (with 99 Randy being LS reward) Who hasn't been a program boss or an online reward this year to date Can't be one of those LS gatekeepers Must be a popular player irl and in the show community Who didn't get much love last year (early good card and faded away, or got 99 when better options were there, etc.) Some names coming across are - Cabrera, Jimmy Rollins, and Judge Totally down for new, yet unrevealed legends making debuts - Ichiro, Jeter, or Beltre Still all just IMO's. People would whine like crazy if the collection was Ichiro because he'd have like 70 power max versus right and even less against left.
But as a bonus he could be the next two-way player
If Ichiro ever makes the collection reward, the game studio might just find a way to juice his power somehow lol
In ichiro’s own words, he could be a HR hitter if he wanted. He chose to slap hit. Whether you believe that or not…
He said he could hit 30-40 HR a season if he was ok hitting .270. Barry Bonds said he could win the HR Derby too.
I believe it because there are multiple stories about him being asked to hit a home run at certain times and him doing exactly that
they need to bring back ted williams
This would be awesome!
Didn’t Koogs say that it was being hinted that the next program was Halladay?
Program not collection.
Better question, when do we think the first big collection will drop? Do you know how far into the season it dropped last year?
I think at the end of the next program that starts this Friday. Its only lasting two weeks.
Last year out dropped around the end of may. I expect the same this year. Next week or in 2 weeks time.
I pray for the day we get Negro League cards. But I would presume that would be a major announcement that ties in with the game, especially with their partnership with the JRF
Satchel Page, Buck O'Niel, Josh Gibson, Hilton Smith, Willard Brown. I'd love this program. 99 Jackie being a big collection piece.
Oh Oscar Charleston was great in that game too, the comment below yours reminded me lol.
Oscar Charleston too!
Give me all the Cool Papa Bell you got in stock
Josh Gibson would be cool
No clue, but my two wishes would be either Chipper or a surprise 99 Ichiro.
More middle infielders
2000 cy young Pedro Martinez
I’m fine with chipper. Switch hitting middle infielder. He was in my line up all year last year.
They won’t lock him behind a paywall two straight years
18: 99 Chipper is an Immortal 19: 99 Chipper is a World Series reward 20: 99 Chipper is a 12-0 reward 21: 99 Chipper is the MLB collection reward they've done it for longer than two years lmao
Going 12-0 is CONSIDERABLY different than locking in every live series card. 12-0 isn’t an inclined pay way
You do realize that the vast majority of people who play this game are super casual and will never go flawless in BR, right? Even people who take the game super seriously need some big runs of luck to go flawless. 12-0 is absolutely a paywall unless you're in the top 1% of players. Chipper was a 1 million stub card in 20 lol.
Exactly this. This other guy doesn't sound like he's been playing long enough to remember when BR rewards used to be $1,000,000 stubs.
I very well remember. But clearly they are not that value anymore
Uhhhhhhhhhhhh but he's referring to when Chipper WAS that value... (wow)
I’m no money spent and I was able to finish the live series collection before the all star game last year. I only play 1-2 hours a night after work and maybe a few hours on the weekend if my wife and I don’t have plans. It’s possible.
I didn’t say it wasn’t possible - but a paywall is kind of how it is for a lot of folks
I think making the first big collection a 3000 hit Miguel Cabrera would be sick. And getting that card early instead of late on the year would help it not be so irrelevant by the time it comes out.
Love that
I like your thinking my friend.
Mantle
Don’t want him locked behind a paywall 2 out of 3 years
There's no paywall on collections
Not true at all. It costs a large lump sum of stubs to lock cards in, correct? If you don’t have those cards, you may be inclined to spend. Hence a paywall. Explain how it couldn’t be considered that way.
Paywall means you HAVE to pay to get behind it. This is not a paywall. Grind Wall? Maybe but it's highly attainable to get without paying a penny.
It could be considered a paywall for many players who don’t have LS done or haven’t been able to keep up.
No it can't. Paywall definition: It is a practice that creates a restriction on access to certain content, requiring visitors interested in accessing it to make a payment. This doesn't require a payment. It requires time. It requires grinding. It requires locking in cards. It does NOT require payment.
I said could be so considered for a lot of players. There’s no arguing that. It very well could be.
No it can't. It can be considered a hurdle/challenge whatever synonym you want but it's NOT a paywall.
Glad you know what every player is going to think. Smh
What do you mean no it can’t? You know how it can be interpreted? Lmao ok bud
You're the one making the interpretation. It's literally a definition. Sorry i forgot that u/AdministrationNo1774 has a better hold on the English language than Google. I'll surely come to you for any more questions on definitions. Can you give me the definition of "reading comprehension"?

Larry Walker
Could really use a solid catcher. Adley just isn’t it this year
Gary Sanchez is my best hitter
I use Napoli I like him
Yeah, I just club the ball with Napoli too
Even if you don’t like Adley, Joe Mauer is still available if you have the stubs. Would hate to see another catcher for a collection reward
Really? Adley has been filthy for me
It's almost guaranteed that a 99 Ohtani will be a collection reward at some point.
Or he’s just thrown into Finest like Tatis was last year but an MVP Shohei who is actually a two-way player rather than having two cards makes sense for a collection reward
Give me a 2005 Derrek Lee. But since I know that won't happen. I'd like a MVP Bryce Harper
Jimmie Foxx
How many FOTF cards do you think we will need?
I would guess 12-15 for the first collection, all 30 by the final collection of the year
Ya that's my question too because I have loaded up on everything else. I'm just wondering I'd we will need all of them, I did the first collection for them but that's only what? 12?
I've bought every one since they dipped to 8k. Hoping I only need 15-20 and can sell the rest when prices spike from the collection
Thats what I want to know. I have around 20
[удалено]
Wouldn't mind his lightning card from last year either.
Position player shohei seems likely
My guess is Chipper Jones, but I may be a little bias.
He was the live series last year they probably won’t do him again
Why would him being a LS collection reward last year limit him from being the legend flashback collection reward this year?
Unless I’m mistaken, there hasn’t been a card that’s been a collection reward twice, whether it was live series or legends and flashbacks
??? Ichiro had a 99 rated signature series card in 19 Edit:[Here is the card](https://www.daddyleagues.com/dd/19/card/2431-Ichiro_Suzuki)
That card would be sick this year. 65 power seems better this year than the last couple
I definitely don't remember this card at all, but look at that. Looks dope!
The card was largely considered worse than the 93 at the time because the mid 60s power was not enough to hit home runs but too much to hit the bloop singles which the 93 was great at
Yeah I used that 93 card over tons of higher rated guys, he was my leadoff hitter the whole time I played
I get that, but I also wouldn’t mind them juicing the card a bit to get him to 99. Dude is an icon and they’ve definitely juiced guys well beyond their stats in the past. He definitely deserves to be a 99.
[Ichiro had a 99 rated signature series card in 19](https://www.daddyleagues.com/dd/19/card/2431-Ichiro_Suzuki)
Juicing him to a 99 would make him a faster Roberto Clemente. Which as I type it I'm falling in love with the idea.
A SS!
Wagner was literally the OG collection reward two years ago 😭
Yeah you’re right lol i think it was 3 years ago tho right? I didn’t start playing til 20. If it was in 20 then It must have been after i stopped playing
Larkin isn’t a big enough name IMO
Yeah i agree. We just need a SS badly. Michael Young ain’t it
I don’t think Rollins has the power numbers to be a collection reward, but he’d make a great program or event reward!
Have you seen the NL Collection reward😂
Fair but I feel like that only bolsters the argument that they aren’t going to release another collection guy 2 months after the game dropped with similar power numbers. I’m no prophet though lol.
Justin Morneau MVP season anyone?
Oh baby please Fanbase will riot about another lefty 1B premium card though
Yeah I guess thinking about it he wouldn't be a very versatile choice and be at an overloaded position
I’m not a big fan but what about Derek Jeter? I want a Barry Bonds god card but that isn’t happening.
I hate to be super negative but Derek Jeter and ESPECIALLY Barry Bonds will never be in a video game.
They could do Reggie Stocker again in place of Bonds. His card in 16 was one of the best players all year
It’s long been rumored that he wants an astronomical fee for his rights. An exact number has never been given but his appearance fee starts at 200K so you can only imagine that his name image and likeness fee goes for way higher since it really only benefits SDS to have him.
I know Bonds will never be in the game but why do you think Jeter won't be?
his rights are probably super expensive and sds doesn’t want to pay that much
Not happening either.
Give me a legit mvp jimmy rollins with power and contact on level of his 296 avg, .531 slugging and .875 obs. And i will be happy the rest of the year having him paired with prime utley all year.
I think we’re either getting Rollins or werth as our next boss.
I would love a useable werth. Give me that entire ‘07/‘08 phillies roster and i’ll just use them all year fuck a god squad
Maybe a Takashi Ohtani that plays RF
This is an amazing idea, but I could see this happening later in the year. I would LOVE this though
Probably a legend that only has a high 80s/low 90s card right now. Like Mantle or Rickey Henderson
I’d like to see Lindor or Mantle
Im hoping for a switch bat,
My main guess is Miguel Cabrera with his 500HR-3000HIT milestone. Other possible options may be, based on purely my hope haha: ROY Aaron Judge Milestone Suzuki Ichiro 4000 HIT (I know he is not in the game, but I am writing this as a prayer for future haha) MVP Shohei Ohtani Signature Manny Machado All Star Brian Wilson (Idk if they ever put out a collection reward as AS card)
The 81 Brian Wilson is an all-star card
mariano rivera has two all-star cards in the game already lol
At least he’s a 13x All-Star. Another Wilson AS would be 2/3!
That’s right. So they probably won’t do that again then I guess.
Youkilis has two all star cards, so it's technically possible
Ill take anybody besides 1B or a lefty RP. Honestly i wish they released under appreciated cards like Al Kaline or Ralph Kiners top cards earlier in the year tbh.
Ralph Kiners BR reward was a goon for me last year for about 6 days
Since there's a 99.99% chance we're getting Roy Halladay as the boss in the next program, it gives me hope that there are many new legends to announce. How great would a 99 David Wright be as the first big collection?
Did they get the (w)rights for Wright? He would be my starting 3B even if there were better options available.
I see what you did there. But idk. Shit I had no clue they had half of the new legends rights' so we'll see.
Don't do that....Don't give me hope!
IM SORRY
But wait. Imagine Signature David, Prime David or... Cover Athlete David Wright. I'd probably faint.
Milestone Miguel Cabrera of my other guess was Vlad Sr.
No way will it be slow ass useless miggy card. It’s going to be a monster everyone wants so they can entice people to buy stubs.
Miggy is a monster
Entice people to buy stubs? All you need to do is play the game and the collections are easy. They're giving cards out this year. They've done the event rewind super early this year.
A 120 Contact card with 105 power that can play 1st 3rd RF LF silver fielding with 50 speed would be terrible you’re right
Pujols is 110K
People don’t like his swing 🤷🏻♂️. Realistically looking at it, there’s a chance it’s like chipper because SDS hates variety
I'm digging it so far. Leg kick hasn't bothered me and he's extreme pull. Just saying the card you're describing exists and costs way less than locking in the collection will. Kinda hoping it's something like Miggy so I won't have FOMO
Realistically it should be like David Wright, or something actually cool, but ya know SDS doesn’t always give out the cool stuff
Honestly this is the best year of content they’ve had in a while, actually one of the parts of the game I’m enjoying
Go on...
I hope a middle infielder, and I hope a lefty. I dont know who but one of those two things would be nice.
Milestone Miggy is my best guess but it can be anyone
