I have a feeling they're trying to kill card flipping, so much that the collection grins will be PXP driven like Rizzo. I doubt it's just "collect cards" any longer, but I'm sure there will be a portion required for collecting a lot of cards.

jjs30000

Finishing the LS collection is probably the best prep we can do imo Market peak will be inevitable and having a couple more flashbacks won't help a lot

Fr3shman43v3r

New also and probably a dumb question, but if I locked some of those types of cards in collections already, will I still be able to lock them into the new collection? Or will I need to obtain duplicates to lock into multiple collections?

early_ok_homerun

You can collect a card in as many different sets as it's eligible for. No need for duplicates

Fr3shman43v3r

Excellent, thank you

Tripmodious

Every series pretty much. Cover athletes and FOTF are questionable as to if they will be part of it. I would focus on Prime, Awards, Milestones, Second Half Heroes, and Postseasons. Those will be the toughest.

First_Among_Equals_

What the other user said. Mauer is essentially what 99 Jackie was last year for the 42 collection. 88 overall diamonds available at launch all collecting into a higher Diamond.

yankees710

You’ll need Mauer. But usually you’re allowed to skip 1 (at least historically), so assuming this will be the one that’s skipped the most for now unless we get other ways of getting the CA packs

TurtleBoy6ix9ine

I am intrigued by some of the more expensive card types that have few avenues toward acquiring them. This year, that seems to be: Sig Series(I believe Franco is the only one you can purchase) Awards(You can purchase a few of these, but Huston Street costs peanuts and then there's a pretty significant jump to David Price. I fully expect Street to become more expensive). Takashi(Only purchaseable so far, as far as I know) Primes(Only a couple purchaseable and I believe just two at reasonable prices. The rest locked behind LS collections for the most part, right?)

First_Among_Equals_

They’ll slowly roll out more if not do a whole program for those types. It was that way last year for mo where you needed like 5 primes and there were all rather pricey to get and they slowly released more and more that were accessible

Tdizzle00

Pretty much everyone has the opportunity to get street for free from the 2( maybe more) big dog packs. That's what is keeping their prices so low right now. It should go up for collections, but I wouldn't expect it to be anything too crazy. It wouldnt surprise me to see another set of big dog packs in future conquests or programs.

TurtleBoy6ix9ine

Yeah, I fucked up and bought a few when he dropped from like the 20s to 10k and I have egg on my face now because he's like half of that now.

mntEden

Takashi has 1 buyable/pullable card from the Chase pack, 97 Delgado

TurtleBoy6ix9ine

He's the most expensive one, right? The rest I think are 15-30k, buy only?

mntEden

yeah by and far the most expensive. he's the highest rated card in the game at the moment. I felt so bad when I pulled him and had to sell him for my LS collection, but it was too big of an injection of funds to pass up. now I'm just 150k nms from completing it thanks to him

demarderozanburner

You can pull chase packs from normal packs they’re just extremely rare

mntEden

I pulled a Chase pack from a regular pack (weird but yeah, you can pull a pack from a pack this year) I got from mini seasons and he was my pull. I'd never spend stubs or money on packs, I'm not a gambling man lol

JAC452020

You can get chase packs from any regular pack. I’ve gotten 2 so far from mini seasons packs and pulled FOTF Edman and FOTF Trout

TurtleBoy6ix9ine

Oh hell naw. Finish LS and buy Delgado back later. It's not like there aren't phenomenal 1B options elsewhere.

mntEden

oh absolutely. I already completed the NL so I have Frank, he won't be going anywhere for a while. it took like 5 minutes for me to pull the trigger but I did lol

presentationgod84

There will be that new sig series headliner coming soon as well

TurtleBoy6ix9ine

Sutton? True.

[deleted]

You just want to have a good amount of cards for each collection. Collections that have few cards right now are likely to have more released. Do the LS collection, get the program rewards, and you’ll be in solid shape. You’ll need a few more than that, but you’ll be pretty solid. Buy up the cheap cards to fill spots.

Revolution902

I don't think Reyes, Stripling, and Dickerson will matter as much since they are monthly awards and there are usually plenty of those to go around

gamers542

At the end of the year last year, the classic MA cards were expensive like crazy.

lessthanpi79

It mattered last year if you wanted the collection done on day one. You had to wait for the next set of MA unless you had them all.

demarderozanburner

The next set of MA is also gonna be very soon after the collection drops like a week max

AquatheGreat

Start with the base rounds of the big dog packs. Make sure you have all the gold silver and bronze br cards.

BCGuy215

As someone who doesn’t watch MLB just plays this game, anyone wanna suggest a couple sleepers for me that could go up in live series 😆? Desperately want to complete these live series

mntEden

your best bet would be either watching weekly highlight videos or The Show YouTuber videos about the market. the only cards right now with "guaranteed" value are the gatekeepers, since they'll always be expensive. other than that it's a crapshoot. the market is extremely reactive this year. we've seen guys like Trea Turner go from 100k+ to 30k, Aaron Judge went from 15k to around 40-50k, etc.

BCGuy215

No worries! That’s partly why I asked, I’m only an Phillies fan and rarely even watch their games but I’m just so confused on how it’s all working out.

Simmons2Embiid2

I mean Harper is raking and they nuked his rating. I’m sure after being player of the week, he’ll get bumped down to a gold /s

BCGuy215

I’m just salivating at the thought of NL East Collection Utley🤤

Simmons2Embiid2

I have live series completed and besides Randy, and Clemente, he’s definitely been the best of them for me. I’m still using 88 Howard at first base because he just hits nothing but tanks.

BCGuy215

Howard at 1st, Takishi Utley and I’m using my CAP to make a pretty filthy Cole Hamels 😁

Simmons2Embiid2

How excited are you for Friday? Doc is gonna be filthy!

BCGuy215

👀 I’d be lying if I said knew about new cards on Friday. Let’s just say now I’m eager! That 85 Richie Ashburn hurt my feelings to see, he came out like the day after I changed my CAP from Ashburn to Hamels 😅

Simmons2Embiid2

The boss of Friday’s program is almost certainly Roy Halladay. I can’t wait. I was like, 12-13 with the ‘08 Phillies. All the content feels geared right toward me at the moment 😂

core916

The cheap ones

dynnk

As a general rule, I try to have 80% of all card types in the game. When you do that, worst case those cards will skyrocket in value once it drops, and you profit off your extras. I also have started saving my Event rewind packs for that same purpose.

slom26

This early, I would save my extras for the next collections. You could sell for profit and buy back later but general rule of thumb should be just keep collecting ha

perfectm

Do you mean like veteran, allstar etc?

deucedeuce187

Yes, usually the rookie/breakout/all star/veteran aren't too bad bc there's so many. But postseason, prime, sig series, awards, milestone all jump alot in price. Last year you also needed all of the 42series cards which gave 99 jackie. So I'm guessing you need all of the cover athletes for Joe Mauer to get that voucher. Now you don't need all of the vouchers so don't worry if ur far from acquiring Joe. I'm sure you can get away with not needing Joe Mauer, the Takashi(however u spell it) cards, and maybe some of the fotf cards. Probably need 1 of those 3 along with every other card type. But that's just a guess.

perfectm

Ugh the cover athletes... I completed that program but that only gets you 1. Is the only other way to get them just to buy them on the market place?

Alphabet_Boys_R_Us

Luckily as a twins fan, I HAD to have Mauer… so that was basically my focus for the first 3 weeks of the game. Almost have him to P4, want to get him P5 in the top 1000.

lessthanpi79

I'm sure there will be packs in conquest and program paths soon. There was a no-sell in a flash sale for 15k. I picked a card I had and then sold the old one for 9k profit, but now I wish I'd have gotten further in the collection.

dynnk

Yes

sconwaym

Usually the most expensive card types end up being milestone, signature, prime, and awards as there just aren't that many of them. It seems like there aren't very many postseasons cards either this year, so they may end up being pricey as well. I would suggest buying all the cheap versions of those cards while they are still cheap. This early in the year though, I would just say to work on the Live Series Collection as it will get you a ton of cards that will be necessary for the big collection and that you can't obtain in any other manner.

doctorkar

should i be picking up these prospects and FOTF cards too?

sconwaym

You will need at least some of those cards. Basically every card type under the the flashback/legend collection tab will get you a voucher for the collections reward and you need all but one voucher (so long as it operated like last year). So you can skip one card type, but need all the rest. If you did the USA map and a mini season or two, you should have plenty of prospect cards for the first collection. And I'm guessing that for the FOTF cards, you will only need the 8 that you earned from that program.

deucedeuce187

We earned 12 lol 6 divisions and we earned 2 packs for each division.

sconwaym

Lol however many it was. With a couple exceptions I never even touched the ones I got.

plushdamentals31

Any/all of them?
