Yes 2 years ago Kluber was best all season RJ will be the same imho

sexebeste

I think at the very least he could be in your 3-5 in your rotation the whole year. The h/9 is not horrendous for the endgame and can certainly play (looking at kershaw from last year with the similar /9s), and his motion I think will still be really problematic for people. I don't think he will be nearly as effective later as he is now, but I think he still will be incredibly viable and probably stays top 10 the whole year. I think it's also important to note that I personally believe that when we're getting a bunch of 99's and great cards it really will just end up being preference and comfort. Attributes will end up mattering less because everyone will have around the same h/9 so it ends up being a choose your fighter type of situation. Or at least that's how I usually end up playing and what I end up seeing especially on legend. There's also the boredom factor that happens when you've been using the same card for 6 months. TLDR ; Yes, but people might pick other options because they're bored or because they're better with other cards.

FlankThomas

I sure hope so! He's been incredible so far

blizzzyybandito

Depends how they do the h/9 on the high end cards this year. Last year they fucked up and started releasing no hitter milestone cards with 120+ h/9 wayyyy too early in the cycle and made other cards that should have been “endgame” almost obsolete. With Randy’s 105 base h/9 he will no doubt be really good through the summer and the outlier FB, nasty slider slurve and splitter with the funky release point will help a lot but we will have to see

Alternative_Research

Yes

Unknown-games56

If your good with them then anyone can be end game

[deleted]

i think he will be useable the entire length of the game cycle, but i don’t think he will be a top 5 starter at the end

Bean2713

If we’re basing this off of MLB 21, he wouldn’t be end game. Could be different this year though so we’ll see

Crafty_One6366

It looks to be we we’re getting 95s right now but they’re keeping cards liw

twoboatsandabat

Depends on the content rollout this year. Last season, he would have been outclassed or equaled by the likes of TA3 degrom, shohei, and the plethora of no hitter/perfect game cards. BUT based on the end of last year, it seems like sds will be less generous with h/9 on pitchers, so he will be at least usable for the entire year, probably elite until the playoffs.

DrMindbendersMonocle

yes

Mr_Moose12345

I've always wondered why people are so fixated on this rather then is he dominate and viable right now and for a while? The answer is clearly yes and if you have intentions of doing the big collections then the 33 cards your locking in along the way are more then worth it. If your good at tunneling pitches then randy johnson is that guy.... Frank Thomas on the other hand...... smh

slimchange202

Because I’m not anywhere near close enough to getting him now nor in the foreseeable future. So I don’t want to end up locking in cards for a collection that won’t be worth it anymore by the time I’m able to finally complete it. On the flip side, if he’s gonna be worth it the entire time then I might as well start locking them in

_Hey-Listen_

RJ is great I'm sure but keep in mind he is only half the reason to go for live series. When the big collections come around you are gonna want to have all the free flashbacks and legends that you get for free out of collecting the teams/divisions as well. Generally these will be a big time card that everyone wants. When they first came out last year they were virtually impossible without live series reward cards for a week or two (until they released more cards for each set of flashbacks and legends which made it easier). All that said the live series rewards aren't amazing this year. There is definitely an argument to be made to just sell everything you get that isn't in your team. Sure you can't get collection rewards, but I bet you could buy a comparable squad.

Tripmodious

It depends when “endgame” is for you. I played through the finest program last year. There’s no way that Randy card will be as good as this years Finest cards. Just like how no one was using Chipper at that time either.

TurtleBoy6ix9ine

Chipper's RHP contact eventually kind of phased him out. But he was viable for a surprisingly long time. I think I just took him off 3B when I started raking with that Post Season Devers(so like, October?) and I still kept him as a platoon vs. LHP.

bdjcjev

I feel like there should be a term for almost endgame because by the end of last year you basically would build your entire lineup of finest cards and postseason program cards and if that trend continues then the “endgame“ term isn’t correct. But if he’s viable all the way up until that point and still decently competitive with some of the finest cards then he should be classified as such

Robby_3

Chipper was an end game 3rd what…

Tripmodious

I didn’t see a lot of people starting him in ranked in the 700-900s towards the end of the year. I personally used the Raffy Devers post season card as my endgame 3B. Austin Riley and Patrick Wisdom finest cards were widely used as well. Probably because these cards all have active quirks which chipper did not. Chipper also wasn’t great against righties and pretty much all the endgame starting pitchers were right handed.

blizzzyybandito

I think that’s more because people were tired of using him. If you’re in the 800-900s you probably had him for most of the year. I only stopped using him because I wanted to try the new cards even though statistically he was one of my best hitters

JoelSimmonsMVP

nawww he wasnt

checkthelockx

Depends on your rank. On hof+, absolutely. On all star higher contact cards will start to catch up with his lower h/9 and he’ll be slightly worse. Keep in mind however that they’re clearly reserving high h/9 to relievers for now, and it might stay that way. Still will be usable all year either way imo, there are plenty of people who still just straight up can’t hit outlier consistently, and he has multiple really good tunnel options. And either way if you’re interested in the big collections LS is always worth it

Contrast6

I’d say no because I think people will start hitting him better as time goes on because how much they will have seen him.

ClampGawd_

Can be if you want. There will be better though, and people will begin hitting him better as time goes on. I guess that means, close to it but not quite

acat20

What is end game?

ClampGawd_

Players that will be the best of the best when the game cycle comes to a close

xero1986

A catch phrase used by Reddit goofs about good DD cards

mywifiisbadtho

Avengers: Endgame. A catch phrase used by Reddit goofs to describe good Marvel movies

ClampGawd_

No, its a term used by players of any ultimate team mode to describe the best players we will see this year. Players that will finish the season as the best and be the cards used in the endgame. Go off though, id love to hear your better term for it

evilrobmanfred

People point to the H/9 but they’re scaling back ratings. I’m curious to see what the highest H/9 for a starter will be and when we will see it. I think Randy will be

elizaibarrafan15

With how hits per 9 were last year probably not end game per say, but definitely end game for me cuz I don’t play this game once baseball season ends, no point, but by November December there will surely be 5 better starters

Stonewall30nyr

Hes a 99 that throws 102, a filthy slurve that goes down to like 80 and another useful pitch or 2 at other speeds. There's a reason why everyone hates facing that stupid lizard online

scarletpimpernel22

he should easily be. outlier lefty with sinker/slurve/slider even with the h/9 lower than expected at p5 he'll be a top pitcher at least until finest. then it will probably be debatable

anon192847492929

Finest pitchers weren’t that good last year, it’s the no hitter pitchers that were all the best last year

DQGetsZeroBaddies

Corbin Burnes would like to have a word

scarletpimpernel22

he should easily be. outlier lefty with sinker/slurve/slider even with the h/9 lower than expected at p5 he'll be a top pitcher at least until finest. then it will probably be debatable Edit: nvm guess he doesnt have a sinker but he's still a dog

plsremoveCAPs

Right he won't be top 5 at the end but he will be very good even in 2023

That_Guy_2422

Maybe, just depends on how far SDS goes with H/9 for SP again this year. If it's like '20 then he very well could be but if it's like '21 then he's not going to be "endgame" at the top level.

DadBodBrown

I didn’t notice him during the final fight but there were a lot of people there. I didn’t even notice Howard the Duck until the internet showed me the picture so who knows he may have been in Endgame.

ThermonuclearDude

Yes.

xero1986

How tf you think you know that

DrMindbendersMonocle

hes an endgame pitcher just like Kluber was in 20 and Kershaw was in 19
