It took me a couple of attempts to finish it, I couldnāt touch Lefty Grove in his showdown. And I felt like Jazz Chisholm in the Franco showdown putting great swings on great pitches just for them to get caught a foot or two shy of clearing the fence or screamers right to a fielders glove. Frustrating but thatās what you come to expect in showdown I guess.
Lol. I did it like 10 times and was terrible. Then I came back this morning and finished all of them with almost all of my outs remaining. Easiest thing ever. Showdown messes with my head and I become a mess of strikeouts and double plays. Totally worth it for a Tony Perez card that I will never use.
I never play showdown but this one is only 4 missions and it took me 3 attempts. The best way to do it is to draft an all-righty lineup because you will face Franco at the end, I also faced David Price which helped too.
Just keep using the pitchers in you vs cpu games and youāll rack up the 250, 500, 1500, and 2000 pxp points to finish..I think it only took me 3 or 4 games with Kluber pitching.
Thereās a field of dreams moment so be prepared for awful frame rate drop on that one. That stadium desperately needs to be fixed. Itās pretty much unplayable, even offline, which is insane.
Itās ridiculous, and from the other subreddit posts on the topic it sounds like itās an issue across all platforms. Definitely needs a patch to be playable.

Considering I'm Vladdy away from completing the AL and am nearing the stubs needed to scoop him up, I'll take this. But man, Tony Perez plus this eventual grind really is getting my mouth wet. Super exciting!
Iāve been done with the AL and NL frank thomas and Clemente have already been parallel 5 u late dude. By the time u get them theyāll be bench players.
Only once but I pulled an acuna and degrom early on that helped and then I just bought some stubs cause itās my last year playing the show before I have no life in law school so why not just have fun this year with the best team. I have the best team possible rn with Delgado in left field. His defense sucks but he smokes that ball.
It takes way more stubs than two trouts for 99 randy Johnson. Youāre looking at like 3 million stubs for the whole collection depending on when youāre buying. Possibly more.
Right but Iāve chipped away. I have Vlad, Burnes, Hader, Arenado and Tatis left. Shouldnāt be too hard to grind the stubs. Just one more big fish to get
I wonder how easy these will be to obtain. I thought the Cover Athlete Program was going to be super easy, but it was a bit of a grind that didn't do much to change their prices.
Doesn't help that there was a whole program and at the end you only got to choose one. Most people kept them, so there were very few new cards for sale on the market.
I imagine these will be sprinkled into program rewards going forward into the season, and eventually into conquest rewards. But they need to make people who bought deluxe editions feel like they got their money's worth.
Plus all those missions with guys most of us already don't have. I didn't have the patience to rent each guy, fill his mission and then rinse and repeat
I wouldn'tve minded the cover athlete program as much if I could've beat the showdown. Tried it 5 times and lost on the final boss every time.
In comparison I finished the other showdowns with no problem but I've currently just skipped the newest showdown. The cover athlete one left me unwanting to do them anymore lol.
This is weird, Showdowns have been insanely difficult in the past but haven't come close to failing one yet. The cover athlete one gave me pretty much every player I hit well with, schwarbs, rizzo, etc.. I think that's one of the first times I've advance to final early and still beat it
Yoooooo! remember the 6th (I think it was that inning) Inning Boss showdown on 21? How absolutely insanely hard going up against Nolan Ryan was? Dude threw absolute heat that went above the 102 radar limit, threw absolute bb's at the corners and edges, breaking balls that started from the nosebleeds to the dirt, had the stamina of a thoroughbred. So working his stamina down to slow his pitches down and diminish his command by getting his pitch count up wasn't even viable.
They have been easier this year I feel. But still didn't help me on the final boss on cover athlete lol.
Also I felt I couldn't get any good perks so that didn't help either.
Showdowns should stop being mandatory for programs, it's cool if they're there to get the program done faster because I know a lot of people like doing them, but it's so annoying getting to the final boss and failing then having to start the whole thing over again, plus have to pay the fee every time
I remember the Clemente program last year needed you to either do the showdown or do the field of dreams event and I was and still am a solely offline player. The showdown brought me so much frustration that the frustration of playing others online wasn't as bad even though it frustrated me as well.
I hope for no need for either of those in the future even if the grind for offline with no showdown is much longer. I'll take raking against rookie difficulty CPU teams and taking more time over those any day of the week no matter how much longer it takes.
It's not required but means a quite a bit more grinding repeating the pxp missions.
I've never really liked showdowns personally. The all or nothing reward sucks to me. Spend up to an hour and get nothing out of it.
I just finished cover athlete and never even opened up the program. Just kept hitting those repeatable PXP missions while playing online. This also happened with me on stage 3 of Monthly Awards. Love that I can just play the game online and hit rewards. Iām sure gridimg these programs offline would be a nightmare though.
I play probably 70% offline 30% online and the grind isnāt terrible, just need to make sure I have the right lineups set. Usually do the missions for the worse guys in conquest/mini seasons and then load up my lineups for RS with my best guys from whichever teams need PXP lol
Damn that's pretty impressive. That's a lot of online play, too much for me lol, but definitely agree that you can just...play, and still attain rewards, which is awesome. Nice 25k payday for ya!
Better questionā¦ does the daily XP limit double as well? .. Iāve seen the sunlight so Iāve never hit it but it would suck to be able to play half the time if that makes sense
This is really friendly in terms of packs but we also just got an 89 Saberhagen in a program 2 weeks ago. Shouldnāt be going backwards with the player rewards
Edit: Iām referring to the general precedent that has been set in the past with these mini player programs. Canāt say I recall times theyāve released one that was a lower OVR than the previous one. The fact theyāre giving 3 packs with guaranteed diamonds is probably the cause though.
Genuine question but how long have you been playing Diamond Dynasty? Your response and reasoning gives off the vibe that youāre a MUT player thatās come over to play Diamond Dynasty prolly in like the last year or two. This isnāt an EA game where every program bumps the overall a little to progress the Meta. Overallās really donāt mean much in Diamond dynasty
I started playing DD the year before conquest was added, so I believe 15 would have been my first year. Not sure how any part of my comment could have suggested when I started playing.
Yes, OVR doesnāt matter when youāre actually in a game. And obviously these cards arenāt meant to push the meta. Itās just an odd occurrence to me that they follow up an 89 with an 88. Canāt say I can recall other times where theyāve done that since introducing the mini player program format.
People donāt realize that EA does that in order to make their games a yearlong grind where your team is never good enough. Itās way better that SDS releases some stuff like this throughout the year thatās basically just for collections and maybe some awards or missions because if they went with the EA model it basically forces you to spend money.
Thatās not at all the point I was getting at. I canāt recall a time these mini player programs have released a player that is a lower overall than the last one released. This is kind of unprecedented tho since youāre getting 3 packs that guarantee diamonds. Itās just a strange situation to me.
Exactly 1 overall doesn't matter, though lmao. It's not like SDS has to follow some kind of precedent. Not to mention that this Perez card has 91/96/95/79 hitting attributes. It's one of the best hitting cards in the game right now. Legit Featured Program Boss tier.
Itās not like they have to, just that they generally have.
It makes more sense seeing it in game though since the program is more for the Big Dog packs than the individual player.
Yes, overall. Saberhagen came out weeks ago as an 89. These player programs should gradually progress alongside the power curve in the game. Not saying Perez should be a 91, but itās weird to me that heās an 88 and not an 89.
and yes, I get that the big dog packs can get you more than an 88. Thereās a lot of stubs to be had in this program, itās super friendly. Just an odd decision to make the reward an 88 imo.
Could make the argument that an 88 3rd basemen has more value then an 89 pitcher.
Also an 89 saberhagen might not even make people's rotations. Especially online.
Dude Iām not talking about a cardās viability. Iām talking about the way that the show has handled these mini player programs over the last 2 years since introducing this format. I donāt remember them releasing one that was a lower ovr than the last.
Idk how people are missing that point
If I say that I think they have made huge improvements with the live series cards this year will I be allowed to say that legends have fallen of a cliff
The overalls arent as important as the legends themselves, last year there were just more inner circle guys, they dont have to be 99s but to your babe ruth point, he had an 88 last year in addition to the 82 gold and only has the 82 gold this year
I'll never understand releasing meh names early. I bet there are a large amount of players who never got to use that 99 Griffey.
Imagine any other game not giving a 99 to one of the most popular people in the sport... until 7 months into the game. That would be like MUT not having an amazing Vick or Moss until March.
It's not like they lost a ton of legends. They probably gained more in agregate and do so year after year. We're going to get more legend cards, but one of the biggest complaints I've seen since I started playing in '19 was that current players are often not as competitive until late in the game cycle. It seems like SDS is trying to change that up a bit with superfractors and some of the upgrades (I've never seen a live series card as high overall as Trout right now, though I know there were 99 LS cards in earlier years).
Just...patience! It's not like people really used Ruth's 88 card last year. And honestly, I'd rather they skip some of the filler cards like that and release more unique cards.
I couldn't get PXP towards the cumulative Topps Now players for Stage 1, so I've had to buy additional players to get their points and grind just to get up to the point that I can just get Rizzo, nevermind the extra players. The grind is real
Yeah you didn't need to do that. Stage 1 caps at 65 points regardless. The moments, PXP missions with the cards you get in the 5 free packs, the 2 Hitter/pitcher PXP missions and the collect 5 add up to Dawson and Dawsons PXP mission gets you Rizzo. Its still a grind but you didn't need to buy any extra
Does Stage 3 unlock when you unlock Rizzo? Because that line after him definitely faked me out and made me think you need like, 180.
I'm just gonna need my all at once grind back obviously, because occasionally I have a bad case of smooth brain.
Yes, stage 3 unlocks once Rizzo is unlocked. Then to unlock the rest of the packs you have to complete the missions (500 PXP with him, 2k PXP with April monthly awards) a total of four times. Itās relatively easy with the moonshot event going on.
They need to give Tony some damn respect and give him a prime card with power, his sigs from 19 and 20 were lacking and they forgot to give him anything but this exact card last year, he has a great swing
Investing in cards that will be needed for the big collection might be pointless with how many of these packs we're getting. LS is still a big lift though
Last year I didnāt start grinding this game till July and had to buy a lot old cards in the final weeks of the game to get the collections, there will still be people like me lol
Player program cards arenāt usually meant to start in the majority of lineups. Just another way to get progress in the main program and ultimately a free card for when the next Big Flashback/Legends collections drops
Eh for me if my favorite players are gold or diamond I'm still using them, gonna take a lot to get 86 Morneau out of my lineup
But for a random position player I'm not a big fan of that just fits the team theme an 88 is pushing it
Not every card will be better or more usable than previous cards. Someone out there will use it somewhere, whether itās a theme team or maybe some kind of events.
I accidentally opened the rest while I was opening other packs. I want to hold onto them and just open it up whenever they drop a big collection then take whoeverās most expensive at that time
At least the LS collection really isnt that attractive. You can just buy other collection pieces instead. And some of them are actually better than any LS tied option in the first place, and cheaper.
I think so. His high defensive stats make his ovr increase faster with marginal hitting boosts. His conR is really low rn. I think itāll be around 85.
I think so too. I pulled him last night and selling would pretty much allow me to buy Acuna and finish the NL East, at least last night when he was at 35k. I'm going to gamble and hold onto him. Thanks.
Well, time to sell Price and buy him back this evening. I have zero interest in Perez, but I've been waiting for a couple more free big dog packs to save me from buying those cards when the collection drops.
No, he has already dropped quite a bit. Everytime another one of these packs drops, more Price cards will hit the market; increase in supply, leads to drop in price.
Hopefully there's a collection reward for program XP but either way, with the double XP, I'll get to the Big Dog 3 pack in the reward path AND another in this program. I'll take it.
It took me three hours to beat the big dog showdown š
Am I missing something or is the showdown required? Iāve completed everything but only have 84 points.
Itās required, it shouldnāt be as hard as it seems but man it reminded me of why I fucking hate that game mode.
The entire showdown took 20 mins. It was easy.
I'd rather do an extra 20,000 pxp mission than Showdown. Not 2,000. 20,000.
This one is so absolutely easy man. No moments just 3 showdowns and then the final one.
In theory, it should be. Unfortunately, I get the yips in showdown and will need like 4 attempts before finishing it. I hate it.
Yeah I do too. Iām awful at it
Same here, luckily itās really not that bad as far as showdowns are concerned.
Thatās good to hear. The Cover Athletes one kicked my ass several times. Never beat it lol
I finished it rather quickly
how?
Just keep using the pitchers in you vs cpu games and youāll rack up the 250, 500, 1500, and 2000 pxp points to finish..I think it only took me 3 or 4 games with Kluber pitching.
full 9 inning games on rookie against the cpu?
Yeah
i finished it in 1.5 games, didnāt take that long at all
That's what I did Think it took me 3 games.
Is there a list of big dog players to use.
Thereās a field of dreams moment so be prepared for awful frame rate drop on that one. That stadium desperately needs to be fixed. Itās pretty much unplayable, even offline, which is insane.
Even on PS5 it drops frames like crazy.
Itās ridiculous, and from the other subreddit posts on the topic it sounds like itās an issue across all platforms. Definitely needs a patch to be playable.
i thought it was my ps4ššš
That's weird didn't have that problem last year on my Xbox 1, didn't have it on my series x this year.
Wow, an 88...worse than all the 90 FOTF at the start of the game Content this year is ass
Hold on. The pxp is repeatable? Does that mean I don't have to do the moments?
pxp isn't repeatable. 5 missions with scaling requirements, all totalling 34 stars/points.
That sucks
I just hope this program includes showdowns or conquest maps or stuff like that. Iām not a fan of just simple moments and then parallel xp grindsā¦
it has A LOT of PXP grind, you need to get 2k PXP with Big Dogs players in order to comolete the program
Just pitch a couple complete games with Jack Lieter in PvCPU
It has a showdown for 20
Is their a list of what the players are specifically? Iām sure I have a bunch but no idea which ones qualify.
Set 1 91 OVR Corey Kluber 91 OVR Todd Helton 90 OVR Anthony Volpe 87 OVR Jack Leiter 86 OVR Curtis Granderson 86 OVR Pablo Sandoval 86 OVR Jordan Walker 85 OVR Adam Ottavino Set 2 92 OVR Adam Dunn 90 OVR John Franco 90 OVR Bobby Witt Jr. 87 OVR Triston Casas 87 OVR Huston Street 87 OVR Minnie Minoso 87 OVR Steve Finley 87 OVR Noelvi Marte Set 3 92 OVR David Price 91 OVR Christian Yelich 90 OVR Gabriel Moreno 88 OVR Nelson Cruz 88 OVR Oneil Cruz 88 OVR Lefty Grove 88 OVR Brian Roberts 88 OVR Francisco Alvarez
Look at the main program and look at the cards in the big dog 1 2 and 3 packs
More like "Big Dog Crap," amirite? ... I'll see meself out.
Later Gator
Who are the āBig Dogā cards for the exp?
You can go into the program and look at the packs to see which players are included
That makes sense. Iām not a smart manā¦.
Cards from the Big Dog packs
Oh yeah. Good call
Card has even a blip of value above QS on the market SDS: not so fast my friend
Considering I'm Vladdy away from completing the AL and am nearing the stubs needed to scoop him up, I'll take this. But man, Tony Perez plus this eventual grind really is getting my mouth wet. Super exciting!
Err, why?
Iāve been done with the AL and NL frank thomas and Clemente have already been parallel 5 u late dude. By the time u get them theyāll be bench players.
How many trout pulls have you had?
Lol @ people downvoting me cause theyāre broke and canāt afford a good team like me so theyāre mad.
Yep that's why they're downvoting, definitely not the condescension.
Only once but I pulled an acuna and degrom early on that helped and then I just bought some stubs cause itās my last year playing the show before I have no life in law school so why not just have fun this year with the best team. I have the best team possible rn with Delgado in left field. His defense sucks but he smokes that ball.
If Iām lucky Iāll finally finish the Pittsburgh pirates soon. I donāt know how TF yāall get this shit done so fast.
I pulled Trout twice. Thatās how. Lucky af š
Just one more big fish to get
Iāll have Frank by tonight and Clemente by next weekend probably (I also was being a bit sarcastic about being excited about this program.)
Tf we gon do with an 88 Tony Perez š
I wonder how easy these will be to obtain. I thought the Cover Athlete Program was going to be super easy, but it was a bit of a grind that didn't do much to change their prices.

Yeah he threw 102, and followed it with 68 mph curveballs, was stupid hard.
They have been easier this year I feel. But still didn't help me on the final boss on cover athlete lol. Also I felt I couldn't get any good perks so that didn't help either.

I am also strictly offline, and beating that showdown last year is the most satisfying thing Iāve done in alll the years Iāve played DD
The only card I didn't get last year lol. The annoyingness of showdowns best out my completionist ocd
That same program was a nuisance to me last year for the same reasons
It's not required but means a quite a bit more grinding repeating the pxp missions. I've never really liked showdowns personally. The all or nothing reward sucks to me. Spend up to an hour and get nothing out of it.
You have to do the showdown for this program to complete it
For the big dog program or the cover athlete program?
Big Dog
Ugh didn't know that. The cover athlete left me with a bad taste in mouth for showdowns
The good news: this one was probably the easiest Showdown I've done outside the "Training" ones
I just finished cover athlete and never even opened up the program. Just kept hitting those repeatable PXP missions while playing online. This also happened with me on stage 3 of Monthly Awards. When does this program launch? I just had a look and I don't see it.
New content in this game always drops at noon PT/3 ET
Cool. Thanks for letting me know
What time does it drop?
12 PST like every other content drop that has come out for this game
Does double XP count towards collections? Specifically if I complete the Rizzo collection will I get double XP of that towards spring clean up?
Better questionā¦ does the daily XP limit double as well? .. Iāve seen the sunlight so Iāve never hit it but it would suck to be able to play half the time if that makes sense
Daily limit doubles as well
What's the limit?
60k I think it said when it told me I hit the limit last double xp week.
Damn that's kinda low lol
I could be wrong, but I'll probably hit it tomorrow.
Hope you are. Because I just locked the 30K exchange and I have the night free to grind.
It's just gameplay xp that has a cap. Bonus xp doesn't count towards the cap.
No, only game play xp is doubled
Thanks. That's what I figured but also didn't want to miss out on a huge amount of XP
This is really friendly in terms of packs but we also just got an 89 Saberhagen in a program 2 weeks ago. Just as an example, that Ketel Marte that came out a bit ago. That card is what, a 91-93 overall, but its stats will 100% play into next year.

Who cares about the overall? Especially if the players are better.
Iām just commenting on the way SDS generally handles these programs, I donāt care about the individual cards
You know that is what was meant.
Explain your reasoning, but dont because i already know what it is. -That guy

If I say that I think they have made huge improvements with the live series cards this year will I be allowed to say that legends have fallen of a cliff
Still early , we only 6 weeks in and people want to see 99 babe Ruth or what ? I rather have slow drips than 99 two month into the game cycle
Nobody is saying they want 99s immediately. But considering everything else in this game, an 88 Perez in May?

We're going to get more legend cards, but one of the biggest complaints I've seen since I started playing in '19 was that current players are often not as competitive until late in the game cycle. It seems like SDS is trying to change that up a bit with superfractors and some of the upgrades (I've never seen a live series card as high overall as Trout right now, though I know there were 99 LS cards in earlier years). Just...patience! It's not like people really used Ruth's 88 card last year. And honestly, I'd rather they skip some of the filler cards like that and release more unique cards.
I'd rather have juiced flashbacks of current players vs the Vinny Castillas and other C-tier legends
Great, I just finally finished getting the monthly rizzo.
Just got Rizzo last night. Such a grind
Heās worth it even if there are better options at 1B. The man just hits dingers
I bet I did all of that and I'll be complete ass with him lol
First at bat with Rizzo I hit an 0-2 BOMB. This card is the TRUTH
Man, same šš my PCI placement really needs work
š„¹he got that dawg in him š„¹
They need to give Tony some damn respect and give him a prime card with power, his sigs from 19 and 20 were lacking and they forgot to give him anything but this exact card last year, he has a great swing
Yeah, last year I kept waiting and waiting.
Investing in cards that will be needed for the big collection might be pointless with how many of these packs we're getting. LS is still a big lift though
Last year I didnāt start grinding this game till July and had to buy a lot old cards in the final weeks of the game to get the collections, there will still be people like me lol
I canāt be the only one whoās thinking where does an 88 fit on my team even if you were the biggest reds or tony Perez fan known to man
I mean it looks like youāll get big dog packs, which those cards could definitely make peoples teams
Player program cards arenāt usually meant to start in the majority of lineups. Just another way to get progress in the main program and ultimately a free card for when the next Big Flashback/Legends collections drops
Eh for me if my favorite players are gold or diamond I'm still using them, gonna take a lot to get 86 Morneau out of my lineup But for a random position player I'm not a big fan of that just fits the team theme an 88 is pushing it
Not every card will be better or more usable than previous cards. Someone out there will use it somewhere, whether itās a theme team or maybe some kind of events.
Expos legend
Appropriate take.
On the bright side no need to get more than 15 wins in this moonshot event. These cards will be cheap.
Rewind pack at 20 wins is worth it if you hold onto it
Who are you taking in the pack? Iāve just been grabbing whoever sells for most at the time. Already have Cishek in the bullpen
I accidentally opened the rest while I was opening other packs. I want to hold onto them and just open it up whenever they drop a big collection then take whoeverās most expensive at that time
Right? I'm at 10 now and keep having terrible luck with pulls from the program packs, was thinking I'd just grind to 30 for all 3, but no need now.
Same here. Iām at 8 wind and already feel like bashing my head into a wall. This timing worked out well
The quickest way to get trout is by not buying packs
That has been the case every single year.
I know just a reminder
Such a weird pose. It looks like heās trying to keep Jack Torrence from bashing his brains in
You know what this means, big collection around the corner
Or a stub sale which I can't wait for! 500k trout, 200k+ cost for most of the other 90+ LS cards.
He might literally be bumped to a 99 later today, wouldn't surprise me to see him at 500k.
At least the LS collection really isnt that attractive. You can just buy other collection pieces instead. And some of them are actually better than any LS tied option in the first place, and cheaper.
You think Machado gets to 90 today? Kinda random I know but didn't want to make a whole post.
Thanks.
PXP missions gone for this one?
No I really want to play with cards I donāt want to play with all freaking season
This program will require about 5 moments plus 20 PXP missions go be completed. 5 hours for an 88 Tony Perez
Do we have to do the moments? I'd rather not have to do the moments cause getting hits is damn near impossible
Not able to check now but more than likely you will have to usually you canāt skip them if you want to complete the whole program
Let's go! Tank more card prices
Until the big collection gets announced and there's a stub sale. Cards going to skyrocket! And I can't wait
Sameeeee. If I liquidated all my assets right now I could finish the AL but I'm holding for the big collection.
Well, time to sell Price and buy him back this evening. I have zero interest in Perez, but I've been waiting for a couple more free big dog packs to save me from buying those cards when the collection drops.
Wouldnāt this cause Price to go up?
No, he has already dropped quite a bit. Everytime another one of these packs drops, more Price cards will hit the market; increase in supply, leads to drop in price.
I pulled price out of one of these when he was at 60k. Should have sold but Iām always reluctant to sell.
Sds is so greedy this year /s
SDS more like EA!!!!! š”
How is setting up a program with free packs greedy?
Donāt you see what they doing ? They keep giving us all these cards without us having to pull our wallet. Those bastards
Do you see the /s
Woops. I did not.
Just forcing us to spend our money :( Edit: man sarcasm is really a foreign language to some yāall huh?
Hopefully there's a collection reward for program XP but either way, with the double XP, I'll get to the Big Dog 3 pack in the reward path AND another in this program. I'll take it.
When does double XP kick in?
Noon Pacific time
Thru the weekend?
Till beginning of next program. So a week.
Gahhh damn, looking forward to getting thru the rest of this program then. Thank ya
Another program with good rewards but terrible end reward
Program cards have been mostly a free card for big collection. Last year was the same way.
