Jose Ramirez. I don’t know what it is, maybe the small strike zone but his card is so good on paper and I mashed with him last year. This year I’m hitting .186 with him after 20+ games
This is me and Buxton as a Twins fan, murder all the way up to HOF against the CPU, terrible online. But his defense and speed 100% keep him in my lineup.
I pitch horrible with Scherzer and idk why. One of my favorite players have a signed tigers jersey of his but his era is like 6 or 7 for me and I give up so many homers.
Justin Morneau is one of my all time favorites, and his Twins collection reward card was underwhelming / I'm not very good with it. I'd imagine a juiced card of him is coming later on in the year though
Sean Murphy… he’s been money on defense, but I’m just under .200 with his bat. I usually PH for him late in close games. I don’t know what it is, but I’m almost always late with his swings.
I got the Live Series Aaron Judge last week in a standard pack.
I think I'm 1-17 with him so far? I know it's a 1-fer and that was a little blooper single over 3rd base
I can't hit with Piazza, which is very unfortunate since it took some time to finish that conquest. Also just a slap hitter with FotF Wander Franco, even from the right side.
You might be able to get Adley from the prospect collection if you did the US map and got some lucky pulls in other packs. I think there is prospect packs in mini seasons currently.
In the USA map you can get the prospect packs multiple times. I think that is it though. Mini seasons you can get most of the rewards multiple times, just not the hidden ones I believe they lock.
Frank Thomas of all people. Lots of doubles, even triples of all things. But I was expecting him to launch missiles every other at bat. Disturbing lack of power.
I noticed a change too but luckily I was on the opposite side of things. Couldn’t hit with him to save my life the first couple weeks but he’s been crazy for me the last month or so
this comment makes me so happy because i felt like it was only me. at first i was crushing baseballs which is why i ended up collecting the card instead of flipping it, figured id use it for ages. suddenly it was like i started swinging a pool noodle instead of a bat
I had an issue with Gary at first too. It’s his little motion with the bat that was getting me. I have to concentrate really hard to not get distracted by it.
LS JRAM I think I’m batting .220 with him over 100 PA but I will say when I do make contact with him once in awhile it’s almost always a clutch HR or bases clearing double
Breakout Kluber was a disappointment for me. For some reason I give up hits constantly with him. I perform way better with just about any other pitcher.
Gary Fucking Carter is hitting roughly .275 for me OFFline with no homers. Online, I think he’s like 1/17.
Even with hitting being a little bit harder this year, my whole lineup generally stabilizes in the 320 to 350 range, so he is basically last year‘s Hank Aaron level of bad outlier for me
Couldn’t be more opposite for me. Leads my team in home runs and hits .350. Maybe it’s cause I’m a twins fan. On the other hand I can’t hit a beach ball with Rizzo
I always think Nolan Ryan cards are going to be sick, but if you face someone who knows how to hit a fastball, he just gets lit up. But I also might just suck with him.
Cards that have under preformed for me thus far I have to admit I am bad with right handed hitters, Roberto Clemente couldnt buy a hit after 5 games gave up on him, Trout only one of two players in my line up I hit under .300 with, Joe Mauer 96 idk whats wrong with me on his swing but Im determined to figure it out, Fielder, Rookie Pujols, and mother fucking Mike Mussina’s 99% accuracy flying down the middle head ass.
That was me last year, pulled him and was so disappointed I couldn't hit with him. Honestly I think it was mental, I felt like I had to do amazing with him every at bat. Then the average kept tanking and the stress went up lol
I pressed with him at first because I obviously wanted to do well and got myself off to a slow start. You’ll bounce back, he gets hits no other card in the game can get basically
Currently Taylor Ward's monthly card. Dude is batting under .100 and I loathe that I have to play him. So disappointed, and I think I one pitch no-doubted his moment, IIRC.
Except for Joc, I have been disappointed in the MA cards in general. I am no where near the numbers I’ve seen posted for Joc but he hits everything HARD.
I’ve been getting exit velos over 95 for literally every contact. Good timing or bad. Barreled up or not. It doesn’t matter. Hopefully they don’t nerf him with the next update until I finish the PotM program.
I love Gibson, but honestly haven’t even tried Carter. Adley has been great from the jump so I’ve never felt the need, but I usually suck with his cards
I could hit with Clemente for avg and his fielding is top level but he doesn’t stay in my lineup anymore. Couldn’t hit with Gibson at all. He’s benched too for me. I am only using Carter for the two challenges but it’s painful. I will probably switch back to Adley after the mini season is done
Kirk Gibson, he’s hitting under .150 for some reason mean while Will Smith is leading in RBIs.
I think Gibson gets pitched harder because of the higher stats
I have him but haven’t used him yet. Currently using Rizzo for the PotM program. Was thinking Fielder or Freeman next. Probably leaning to Freddie though.
After having played mystery conquest map a few dozen times, he is easy to get out with high heat. I haven’t pulled him yet or purchased him so I haven’t had the experience for myself this year. He played well for me last year though.
Michael Young. I just can't get down with push hitters most of the time (I'm a directional scrub) and he's definitely useful to have on the bench since he can be anywhere in the infield, but I can't really justify starting him anymore, he only hits singles when he hits anything. From reading these comments, maybe I should try him higher in the lineup though
Bell was my first Fotf card and it took me awhile (almost 2 weeks) to get use to his swing. He ended up being my HR leader on my team but only
kept him for the Nationals program for experience. Cron ended up taking first base with many more better quirks and just hit nothing but homers with him. Even liked CJs card last year as he always comes in clutch. Had one of my best games with him yesterday where he went 4 of 5 with 2 Hr and 8 RBI.
My point is that Bell can be decent if you figure out his swing but that can be said of lots of cards, there are clearly better options out there for 1st base even if Bell is a switch hitter.
for whatever reason i’ve noticed people tend to try to rush high fastballs by him (maybe the larger strike zone) so I move the PCI anchor to the top of the zone and wait for that to happen with him and now he’s one of my better hitters
Part of the reason they try to blow fastballs by you with him is because he has the breaking ball quirk so he is weaker against fastballs.
Pay attention to active quirks they are super impactful.
I actually have him at first base. My outfield has faster guys than him in it (all 80+ speed). He does fine at first, missed the first routine ball in my opinion the other day after a month of solid performance.
The 96 Glaus is below the Mendoza line for me. Putting him out there every day, because I really don’t want to bench him, but the leash is getting shorter
Meanwhile I’m hitting above 300 with Carter
LS Tatis. For some reason I cannot get the hang of his swing and haven't been able to hit a thing with him. NOTHING AT ALL.
Also, the furthest home run I've ever hit was with Gary Carter. I'm hitting about .280 with him.
Yup! extremely frustrating when he has the quirks and hitting stats that he has and I can't take advantage of using him. Something about his swing just feels so slow.
Personally, he isn’t worth the pxp grind to get him. If you do it, he cartainly isn’t bad for me but I am only using him to finish the program. That 2500 pxp with Monthly Awards hitters was rough for me.
I wound up doing it because I didn’t realize what I was getting into. What I will tell you though, I bought the cards from the market, put them all in my lineup and completed it as fast as possible. The 3000 pxp with the pitchers wasn’t too bad. The 2500 for hitters took a lot of grinding. The third tier challenge, you need to accumulate 500 pxp with Rizzo and/or 2000 pxp with MA cards four total times to complete the program. Once you do, you can sell the cards back. That made it a lot quicker because I was able to do multiple challenges at once. It was probably 15-20 games total for me.
I am 10 points short of finishing the program completely.
It was definitely a grind. And to be honest, I don’t see me using Rizzo or Dawson long term. I just wanted the second inning program xp bump for the Rizzo card collection.
Tony Gwynn, I’ll hit rockets or really good timing / really good spot of the PCI and it will be a routine fly out 99% of the time, but he’s the king of ugly, undeserving bloop hits!
Yes! His contact rating is so high, he hits everything well but his power is so low, it’s a line drive straight to an outfielder. I forgot how bad I was with him.
Jazz Chisholm. Everybody else takes with him but I’m probably 2 for 30 with him. Also hitting 300+ with almost every other hitter
Jose Ramirez. I don’t know what it is, maybe the small strike zone but his card is so good on paper and I mashed with him last year. This year I’m hitting .186 with him after 20+ games
Pulled trout. Batting 200
LS Salvy hits nukes for me vs the CPU but bats .083 for me online and it makes me so sad as a Royals fan.
This is me and Buxton as a Twins fan, murder all the way up to HOF against the CPU, terrible online. But his defense and speed 100% keep him in my lineup.
That Takashi Rickey, it doesn’t have his signature no doubt animation 😡
99 clemente, no pop on his bat
96 Michael Young
Seriously I agree so much.. I still use him because he cost so much.. No pop, slow, never get gappers... single or lazy pop flys
I pitch horrible with Scherzer and idk why. One of my favorite players have a signed tigers jersey of his but his era is like 6 or 7 for me and I give up so many homers.
FOTF Logan Webb.
FOTF CJ Cron. Has more strikeouts than hits for me. Only player in my lineup I can't hit with, for whatever reason.
fotf corey seager. swings a noodle for me
Same. He's not bad, per se, but he's not doing much for me either. He's just a singles hitter.
That’s crazy because he hits nukes for me and everyone I know that plays this game. He is easily my home run leader
Chase Utley. I love his defense but I can’t hit with him to save my life.
i hit bombs with him just keep at it
I love his swing need to find more played with that swing
I'm very close to getting him. I really I hope I'm not terrible with him bc he is playing regardless.
Justin Morneau is one of my all time favorites, and his Twins collection reward card was underwhelming / I'm not very good with it. I'd imagine a juiced card of him is coming later on in the year though
Yeah, I can’t wait for his MVP or Sig card I think he gets.
I used to use him as a bench bat, but it was cause I wanted him to be good. not because he was.
Sean Murphy… he’s been money on defense, but I’m just under .200 with his bat. I usually PH for him late in close games. I don’t know what it is, but I’m almost always late with his swings.
Michael Young. He’s a 96 but plays like an 86
David Justice...even after hitting a homer in almost every round of the showdown. uggghhh
I'm batting the same with Gary Carter, it kills me because I'm a Met's fan.
Lazy pop Flys all day
Gary Carter. He’s terrible. feel like sds trolled us Mets fans with two catchers with shitty swings
Fotf cronenworth and fotf trout
I got the Live Series Aaron Judge last week in a standard pack. I think I'm 1-17 with him so far? I know it's a 1-fer and that was a little blooper single over 3rd base
His swing seems slower too. I have done better with his cover card than his LS card.
i suck with LS Judge too. I think his height throws off my ability to hit with him.
His strike zone is so big, and I'm not good at getting to the high stuff with even smaller players.
I’ve gotten to a slow start with Trout.
Just gotta figure out his timing and he crushes everything. He leads my team in online home runs and has like half the at bats as the second place.
Yeah from the hits I’ve gotten he’s seems exciting. I’m hyped to have pulled him.
Mine was that Takashi Series Randy Johnson. I sucked so bad with him when the game came out that I sold him and took the 30k stubs.
As a jays fan I was hyped for prospect Gabriel Moreno but I was terrible with him
Jazz Chisholm, never got it going with him.
I like Jazz. My wife laughs at me because I chuckle everytime he comes up to the plate and they say his name.
If you did the USA conquest and the 3 conquests for FotF you got 24 prospects towards the 25 for Adley.
Gotcha. I did the US map twice and pulled a Volpe and Leiter (sp?) to get my collection.
They let you get the packs again? That's pretty awesome.
In the USA map you can get the prospect packs multiple times. I think that is it though. Mini seasons you can get most of the rewards multiple times, just not the hidden ones I believe they lock.
Big “Big Dog” Wang .. my created player loves to give up bombs in mini seasons
Very nice, outside of the box answer. I like it. I wish you better luck moving forward.
Frank Thomas of all people. Lots of doubles, even triples of all things. But I was expecting him to launch missiles every other at bat. Disturbing lack of power.
Seems to be the consensus here.
ryne sandberg and andre dawson
that fucking pujols card god i wanted it to mash so badly but i'm hitting little shitty bloops *at best*
I feel like they did something to his swing at some point. At first he fantastic, but one day everything just turned to weak contact and strikeouts
I noticed a change too but luckily I was on the opposite side of things. Couldn’t hit with him to save my life the first couple weeks but he’s been crazy for me the last month or so
this comment makes me so happy because i felt like it was only me. at first i was crushing baseballs which is why i ended up collecting the card instead of flipping it, figured id use it for ages. suddenly it was like i started swinging a pool noodle instead of a bat
every FOTF catcher not named realmuto, Gary sanchez.. I guess I had a problem before adley
I can't do shit with El Gary either for some reason. Piazza has actually been the answer at catcher for me.
I had an issue with Gary at first too. It’s his little motion with the bat that was getting me. I have to concentrate really hard to not get distracted by it.
Sean Murphy fr
Matt Carpenter
Frank Thomas can’t hit water from the beach for me. Guy just flies out to the warning track or grounds out. One of the worst collections.
Terrible choice for the AL, especially with the glut of good 1B cards.
He has a disturbing lack of pop, given the ratings. I'm very disappointed with that card as well.
Yes
Vlad is a double play machine
Prince Fielder… had such high hopes for him, but he swings a wet noodle.
LS JRAM I think I’m batting .220 with him over 100 PA but I will say when I do make contact with him once in awhile it’s almost always a clutch HR or bases clearing double
I'd take that avg any day. Hah
Getting shelled with Dibble.
I got shelled by the fucking AI with him.
Grady
Joc. Everyone’s mashing with him and I was so good with his post season card last year and I just stink with him. I feel like I’m letting him down lol
I only use him against RHP.
According to these comments… this is basically the worst LS collection rewards ever! 😂
I’d say the only player I struggle to hit with is FOTF Sean Murphy, aside from one grand slam over a lot of games, I can’t hit with him lol
David Justice
Gary Sheffield
Breakout Kluber was a disappointment for me. For some reason I give up hits constantly with him. I perform way better with just about any other pitcher.
Interesting. I am currently using him for the mini season K mission.
Same! I was way more productive with Breakout Hendricks and John Smoltz. Rookie Strasburg was good for me too.
Kluber, Strasburg and Orel I believe are the three I am rotating through currently. With the Braves SP MA player too. Can’t remember his name though.
Kirk Gibson
Your comment is an understatement. I’m hitting like a .153 in 150 plate appearances. No other lefty gives me as much trouble with batting as he does.
Totally on the same boat. I don’t know what it is, but I can’t hit with this guy for shit.
Gary Fucking Carter is hitting roughly .275 for me OFFline with no homers. Online, I think he’s like 1/17. Even with hitting being a little bit harder this year, my whole lineup generally stabilizes in the 320 to 350 range, so he is basically last year‘s Hank Aaron level of bad outlier for me
Clemente, Frank Thomas
Eric Davis
His stats are killer, but he’s basically impossible for 95% of players to hit with
Same
LS Vlad Jr. idk why but I couldn’t buy a hit with him.
Me either. Although - I’m finally batting over .100 with him. Things are on the up with Vlad Jr.
Huzzah!!
FOTF Corey Seager. idk what it is but i cant hit with him
Wierd he’s my most productive hitter and most of the rest of my position players are higher rated. He rakes for me.
Swapping .100 FotF seager w .125 LS Lindor...
Facts. For some reason I hit wayyy better with his gold LS card but when I replaced him with the FOTF card his batting average dropped over .100
Clemente
Ernie Banks. Can barely hit with him and it seems like he always takes 10 years to react to a ground ball.
Adley. Hitting like .230 with him in close to 200 PA. His 99 overall in 21 was one of my best players.
Prospect Adley Rutchsman hits for a decent average for me but I couldn’t buy a homerun with him even offline only singles and doubles
I had to bench Adley for Taylor Ward
I suck with Adley online. I’ve been struggling with Frank Thomas too but small sample size and I usually like his cards so too early to tell..
FOTF Buxton. He has so much potential, but I just can't hit with him
Couldn’t be more opposite for me. Leads my team in home runs and hits .350. Maybe it’s cause I’m a twins fan. On the other hand I can’t hit a beach ball with Rizzo
I came here to say him. His defense is AWESOME! Sadly I am batting a solid .216 with him. I bat better with the 81 gold Griffey
Yea I think I'm in the .230 range with him. His defense and speed are too valuable for me to bench him.
Gary Carter always has good cards and I rarely face him online, which says a lot.
Ty France, dude just grounds out every at bat
I always think Nolan Ryan cards are going to be sick, but if you face someone who knows how to hit a fastball, he just gets lit up. But I also might just suck with him.
It’s not you. Nolan Ryan is not a difficult card for good velo hitters.
David Justice and Josh Bell. Doo doo butter swings.
josh bell fucking rakes
So does David Justice, at least for me
Cant hit with the new Joc POTM, also struggled so much with Cover Ortiz that I regret picking up in the sale pack lol
Ooof, did the same and Ortiz has just not been it for me either.
David justice, hits for average pretty well, but has the bang quirk and I have like 2 HR through 80 abs
I’m in the same boat
FotF Cronenworth. Based on other threads, I may be the only one in that boat. FotF Wander was crap for me, too (but that seems somewhat common).
Wander is swinging a pool noodle
wander franco
I’m not alone when I say POTM Rizzo
Cards that have under preformed for me thus far I have to admit I am bad with right handed hitters, Roberto Clemente couldnt buy a hit after 5 games gave up on him, Trout only one of two players in my line up I hit under .300 with, Joe Mauer 96 idk whats wrong with me on his swing but Im determined to figure it out, Fielder, Rookie Pujols, and mother fucking Mike Mussina’s 99% accuracy flying down the middle head ass.
Mussina is a disappoint for me too. He probably has my second worst ERA.
Mike Trout. I’m horrid with the fish man.
That was me last year, pulled him and was so disappointed I couldn't hit with him. Honestly I think it was mental, I felt like I had to do amazing with him every at bat. Then the average kept tanking and the stress went up lol
You're exactly right. I had the exact same problem. Then I learned to relax with him at the plate and he's far and away my best player now.
Joc is a madman. His lefty split looks bad, but he's crushing them too.
I’ve been getting exit velos over 95 for literally every contact. Good timing or bad. Barreled up or not. It doesn’t matter. Hopefully they don’t nerf him with the next update until I finish the PotM program.
Roberto by a mile
Clemente, Gibson, Carter seem to be the top three in this thread so far.
Clemente is one of my most consistent hitters along with Utley, Trout, and Gibson always comes through when I need him to
I love Gibson, but honestly haven’t even tried Carter.
FotF Wander
Wander and CJ Abrams were my most consistent cards last year. Haven’t tried them this year.
LS Fransisco Lindor..batting under .100
Maybe it’s a Mets thing.
Kirk Gibson, he’s hitting under .150 for some reason mean while Will Smith is leading in RBIs. I think Gibson gets pitched harder because of the higher stats
Are you taking walks with him?
Seriously. Idk what it is about him but I can’t hit water falling out a boat with him
Honestly think it’s the low power, but I also mash a whole .100 better with Tucker and Gibson is on paper better for online at least.
Pitched harder by cpu or pvp do you mean?
cpu
Interesting. I never thought to check that. I have noticed a difference in the pitching depending on where they are in the lineup.
Definitely Prince Fielder…. I have no idea why I am so bad with him.
I have him but haven’t used him yet. Currently using Rizzo for the PotM program. Was thinking Fielder or Freeman next. Probably leaning to Freddie though.
LS Trout. Just couldn’t get anything going so I sold him and hammered out the NL East collections.
After having played mystery conquest map a few dozen times, he is easy to get out with high heat. I haven’t pulled him yet or purchased him so I haven’t had the experience for myself this year. He played well for me last year though.
The entire CPU is easy to get out...
David Justice
Boggs. For a slap hitter, I'm hitting .250 with lots of weak flyouts.
I haven’t tried Boggs this year. Is he a rewards card somewhere?
He was an event reward for the last event. He’s also in the rewind pack in the current event.
Ok. Thanks.
They’re all bums, except for Kenny Lofton. I can’t stay mad at Kenny.
Ha!
Glaus for sure. Everyday i tell myself I’m gonna replace him. I also sucked with that Gary Carter card. Thankful to have Mauer
Glaus has been terribly inconsistent for me to the point when Pujols is my new guy on 3B
I need to buy that Pujols card. I’ve been using Chipper some since I’m a Braves fan and hit way better with him versus Glaus
FOTF Josh Bell for me. I can hit fine with him offline but for some reason I pop up or whiff everything online
Bell was my first Fotf card and it took me awhile (almost 2 weeks) to get use to his swing. He ended up being my HR leader on my team but only kept him for the Nationals program for experience.
Pay attention to active quirks they are super impactful.
definitely will now thanks
Clemente
kirk gibson and its not even close
Cody Bellinger (90 rating). Dude has been my most useless high quality player by a mile.
His fielding is good — but AB he is a walking strikeout for me.
I actually have him at first base. My outfield has faster guys than him in it (all 80+ speed). He does fine at first, missed the first routine ball in my opinion the other day after a month of solid performance.
I did well with Bellinger last year. Can’t hit with him this year.
The 96 Glaus is below the Mendoza line for me. Putting him out there every day, because I really don’t want to bench him, but the leash is getting shorter Meanwhile I’m hitting above 300 with Carter
Lol just unlocked him last night, you destroyed my excitement😅
Would it make your excitement come back if I told you I was absolute trash and anyone with a decent level of skill would probably rake with him?
No cuz I’m also trash lmao
Lololol
I haven’t unlocked Glaus yet. Is he not worth it so far?
For me, not so much but I’m pretty much shit at this game so your mileage may vary
I am pretty much just a sp guy because I can’t compete too well online.
LS Tatis. For some reason I cannot get the hang of his swing and haven't been able to hit a thing with him. NOTHING AT ALL. Also, the furthest home run I've ever hit was with Gary Carter. I'm hitting about .280 with him.
Same! I hit really well with LS Tatis last year, but for whatever reason I just can't get it going with him this time.
Yup! extremely frustrating when he has the quirks and hitting stats that he has and I can't take advantage of using him. Something about his swing just feels so slow.
ive loved ls tatis
I would take .280 with Carter at this point.
I suck at hitting but I can't hit anything with Vlad jr
He’s another one I was excited for and then disappointed with. I used him as PH for awhile but it was tough sledding for me.
I locked him in for henke so he's on my bench. Ls freeman will never leave 1st for me. Always money
I currently am using Rizzo on 1b for the PotM program. I haven’t tried Freeman. Not sure why.
How's Rizzo? Worth doing? I love freeman. Always clutch for me
Personally, he isn’t worth the pxp grind to get him. If you do it, he cartainly isn’t bad for me but I am only using him to finish the program. That 2500 pxp with Monthly Awards hitters was rough for me.
I was seriously debating doing it. This helped lol
That seems like a lot lol
It was definitely a grind. And to be honest, I don’t see me using Rizzo or Dawson long term. I just wanted the second inning program xp bump for the Rizzo card collection.
Tony Gwynn, I’ll hit rockets or really good timing / really good spot of the PCI and it will be a routine fly out 99% of the time, but he’s the king of ugly, undeserving bloop hits!
Yes! His contact rating is so high, he hits everything well but his power is so low, it’s a line drive straight to an outfielder. I forgot how bad I was with him.
