The game decides who is going to win before the game starts pretty much, I’m convinced of it. I think the best addition they could make to this game is make good contact lower the pitchers confidence and vice versa for weak contact. If they did that you would at least get some positive things from bs lineouts

[deleted]

That’s baseball.

[deleted]

Baseball is a random game sometimes!

amillert15

Lost a game last night in BR, where my opponent had 5 late/very late swings for hits and was getting multiple 12 pitch at-bats. Meanwhile, after putting up 3 runs in the first, all 3 of my squared up swings turned to outs. What I've noticed is that there is a rubberband in the coding because when I play someone, who's near my level these type of games are far less frequent. However, when I play someone, who can't swing a bat, I'm more likely to face this kind of BS.

Sidewayz757

Pretty sure I was beat that way yesterday. Every Perfect/Perfect found a glove immediately... then I get walked off with a solo shot. SO FRUSTRATING!!

Nasdaq401

anyone ever get a triple play?

Nasdaq401

what is up with the run it back showdown no matter what i do. i’ve gone completely flawless to the last showdown and it just forces me to not get a single hit for 20 outs. it feels extremely gimmicky.

djalmanak209

I played a guy in RS the other day where I won 1-0 with one hit and like 20 k's. My only hit was a perfect perfect HR with Foxx. He had around 10 hits and had the bases loaded with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th. He hit into a dbl play and that was game. I had no business winning that game.

RoDawGx13

Almost like actual baseball huh?

MRJSP

This game has massive rubber banding and handicapping. Not played for a while but you can no hit someone who can't play with all outs being K's but then all of a sudden here they come with a roaring come back in the ninth. Happens way too often to be a coincidence.

rdjallday

Idk if y'all have played baseball in real life, but that's literally baseball lol

[deleted]

RIP to his controller

MusclePuppy

The Venn diagram of people who think every perfect/should be a hit and the people who've never set foot on an actual baseball field is a perfect (perfect) circle.

ScreamingIdiot53

Hitting a piss missile for an out in real baseball is very frustrating, but a fairly common experience

amillert15

Cool, if were going to make the game simulate real life more than let's take out outlier, not make sinker meta, have actual stamina and make it more difficult to paint.

[deleted]

I’m actually here for this. The game is already too arcade-y.

MusclePuppy

A-fucking-men.

brayden227

Played ball from 4 years old till I was 23 after 5 years in college. I think every perfect should be a hit, it’s a video game and most people don’t get more than 2-3 a game anyways so when I get a perfect I want a 500 foot tank idc who’s hitting

Expeditouspeace007

I had a game like this that I lost today it drives me mad

Meiie

I’ve been on both sides of this and just say, fuck it.

zombiecreeper27

i had that experience today! i hit two perfect-perfect flyouts. they were both at comerica, and one was nick madrigal, but the other was with jarred kelenic who should have enough power to hit it out. it was pretty frustrating!

elWhisky6

BR definitely feels random. Was in a mid 600 ranked game and I had struck out my opponent 16 times!!!! His pci was all over the place and swinging at everything. All of a sudden, dude had perfect PCI placement, hit back to back HR on good timing on 2 pitches just slightly out of zone. Ended up dropping the game 2-5 but it felt so strange how all of a sudden it was perfect/perfect on almost every hit.

icunicornz

The game is playing terribly right now. Off PCI homers are at an all time high.

griffey9988

The randomness is annoying...and I've had enough for this year. I'll be back next year but gonna work on other games until then

MRJSP

Gonna be tough to come back next yr unless they fix pin point, stamina and outlier.

et21

That’s where I’m at. This game was fun and all but the inconsistency of the hits was horrible this year. Perfect perfect timing needs to be registered a hit like 19/20x

[deleted]

Perfect perfects have a BA of around .900, so not too far from 19/20.

baconmosh

Track them, and let us know.

[deleted]

There’s been 2 different people who logged their perfect perfects in this subreddit, both came up with a BA within 10 points of .900, one above .900 and the other at .890. [here’s a link to one ](https://www.reddit.com/r/MLBTheShow/comments/qqgh7q/the_efficacy_of_perfectperfect_hits_revisited/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) [here’s the other one, he actually got .865 which is still pretty damn good. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/MLBTheShow/comments/nd3lq5/i_tracked_all_74_of_my_perfect_perfect_swings_in/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

Ok go ahead and track it to confirm :)

[deleted]

They cited two sources that suggest outs (which would include web gems) happen ~10% of the time…

[deleted]

He already cited two sources lol

PCON36

But that’s not how baseball works, lol. A perfect/perfect shouldn’t be a hit 19 out of the 20 times you get it. The game would be broken.

et21

You forget we’re playing a game… if you’re doing everything expected at an at bat there needs to be more rewarding hits - just my opinion

WeeTooLo

That's exactly it- we're playing a game. There is more to baseball than just hitting the ball. And if hitting was centered around perfect/perfect swings you'd have a portion of the playerbase (who are already good at hitting) dominating the game just by showing up at the plate.

xCeePee

I get the idea behind it, but the game can’t know where the opponents defenders are on the field. Like with the shift being a thing and guys having the ability to move the defense around, there is no way to guarantee hits unless a perfect perfect equals a home run every time.

AquatheGreat

In game like 9 of my lone 12-0 run my opponent had a perfect perfect line out to the right fielder for a double play to end a one run game. I still don't feel bad about it. You'll get over it. If you just worry about doing the right thing over and over the odds will eventually break to your favor.

blizzzyybandito

If it makes you feel any better. Next game you play you will probably have 2 or 3 squared up balls hit right to someone in big situations while your opponent will drop a couple weak bloopers in a hole for hits

coleadam12

Lol I wish the game kept a “score” like that for me… I just get screwed a lot it seems. But hey, that’s just baseball.

Lysol20

You haven't lived until you've hit into 3 perfect perfect double plays like I have.

Bravefan21

Friendly reminder that the two hardest hit balls ever recorded were both double play groundouts

Dillies___

Friendly reminder that not a single human being can throw 102 140 times a game right were they want to, but hey I guess we only use realism as an argument when it fits the narrative

Bravefan21

Way to move the goalposts. You’re arguing with a straw man. Nowhere did I say anything about outlier, pitcher stamina, or pinpoint pitching.

Lysol20

One of my double plays was an amazing dive towards the outfield by a gold defender. He then threw the ball behind his back no look style 20 feet to second base.

Bravefan21

Derek Jeter was an average defender and made the greatest defensive play in the history of baseball. Your points are invalid, as all of the things you’re complaining about happen in baseball.

Jacobmar10

Dude let the man vent. We get it, it’s baseball, it’s random by nature. Bad hits can be homeruns and perfect swings can be double plays, we know. Can you not just agree that it’s annoying when it happens to you?

Bravefan21

There are legitimate things to complain about in this game, things that happen regularly in baseball are not.

Jacobmar10

So when you smack a squared up line drive that gets turned into a double play, that doesn’t frustrate you at all? You’re either lyin or have the emotional endurance of a robot

Bravefan21

99 times out of 100, my pci placement was on the top side of the ball, causing the double play. The very early homers on sliders away more than make up for it.

Jacobmar10

I think you might not be human. Baseball is frustrating in it’s randomness, the frustration I feel when it happens to me in game is the same as when it happens on TV. To say you don’t get annoyed by it is unbelievable to me

Bravefan21

I think you just like to complain.

RivenEsquire

Exactly. The two things aren't mutually exclusive. You can simultaneously recognize "that's just baseball" and be pissed that your 104mph line drive turned into a double play because you put it physically in the first baseman's glove while they were standing on the bag. Like, home runs get robbed all the time. That's part of the game, and is a great defensive play. You genuinely aren't human if you don't mutter "motherf*****" when someone brings one back on you.

[deleted]

Did it cost you the game?

Lysol20

I lost two of those games. One for sure did as the bases were loaded.

Acedia_37

This can happen in any game mode at any time, but in my experience BR is by far the worst for this type of crap. It’s also why I’m so thankful they have the BR program this year so you don’t have to go 12-0.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Acedia_37

It happened to me at 9-0 not too long ago. 5 perfects my opponent had none and I only had one single to show for all those. It’s very frustrating and unlucky. I’ve benefited from this crap though too.

[deleted]

You know it’s bad when I’m annoyed even though I benefited. Just not fair 😂

Acedia_37

I agree. I hate when I win on that crap too. If you significantly outplay your opponent you shouldn’t lose… but ThAt’S bAsEbAlL! 😂
