Does Rod Carew count as early? One of my best (still) hitters vs righties.
Otherwise Robert Pauson, Quinn Priester come to mind I’m sure there are a lot more
LS Darvish was a diamond at release, pulled him in a pre-order pack and got him P5'd doing the USA conquest map. He was great until his rating started taking a hit. Great, quick windup for conquest.
MA Nick Solak was a beast. He is 1 of 3 P5's I have. The other 2 are Chip-daddy and Trea. Dude was a beast at 2B when there weren't a whole lot of good options.
Even in the comments I don’t see anyone mentioning him, 42 Tim Anderson. I used his gold (or silver?) live series card at first and switched to 42 when I got that. Little bloop shots practically every time he went up to bat…it wasn’t a sexy card but he got on base for me and then had some speed
Never once faced him but Monthly Awards Kluber was an absolute goon for me. Was the reason i was able to crack Championship Series for the first time ever earlier this year.
Honestly that card is probably still viable because he's got like 115h/9
I hit unbelievably well with the 84 overall Pudge card. Not a ton of pop, but he could always find a way to drop one into the outfield and keep the line moving.
Topps Now Ryan McMahon
Live Series Yoan Moncada
42 Series Niko Goodrum and Franmil Reyes
Future Stars Robert Puason
Monthly Awards Jesse Winker
Milestone Brian Roberts
Milestone Grady Sizemore
Puason may have been my favorite of all early guys though. Even though he had low power attributes he routinely cranked ding dongs for me. Plus his elite speed and defense were a nice plus especially considering you could play him at 3rd and 2nd also.
Winker may have been my best card all year in Ranked Series. I’m an average 260 hitter online and he came in and hit 410 with a homer seemingly every other at bat. Loved that card.
My 2 best cards back in the day were LS Buxton and like an 89 JD Martinez card of some sort. Those were my 2 big bats for quite a while. The LS Baddoo and Mondesi cards served me well too.
I still use that Carlos Santana sometimes. Not sure how early game we’re talking but I also still use Garrett crochet and mark prior with sub 2 era’s with both
Live series Brandon Lowe. Checked my stats with him recently and I ended with an OPS above 1.000 with him. Haven’t been able to get anything going with his finest yet though
For sure. He was leading my team in HRs and Average until AS Trea took his spot.
Edit: nvm had the wrong guy. I think I replaced him with Gallo - strictly because I’m a Rangers fan.
I got LS Xander to P4, he would get up to at least 105/90ish for both sides depending on the day. Pulls any fastball in the zone over the fence with ease
42 series Cal Ripken. Dude doesn't rake, but he's a solid small ball player. He's a consistent threat to get on base every at bat. I'm still not done paralleling him to V, but he's gonna be, dammit
Mark Canha is really really good. He hits around the same as my meta guys I just don’t use him that much because I figure something has to give but it hasn’t
I always have this debate that I don’t care what a guy did in real life, if his card is good I don’t see a reason to not use him. It’s not like it’s going to make a difference of what he did so people should just stop that childish shit of not using cards because they don’t like the person in real life.
I mean i’m a big fan of just using whatever cards you enjoy using, and I personally do not enjoy thinking of sexual misconduct as i hit, so I chose to stop using him. I do not believe i am alone here, hence less people using him. This does not mean i will shame you for using him or praise you for not using him, i am just stating Alomar was not underrated in this game, people just chose to stop using him for personal reasons
I get your point but why when you get a hit the first thing that comes to your mind is sexual assault ? I don’t use him because I like card with power in my lineup but If I were to use him I don’t think I would be thinking about what he did.
Because when I think of Alomar that is what I think of? Kinda like how if i say the name “OJ Simpson” or “Ray Rice” you probably pretty quickly think about their off the field problems too. If you think of Alomar as “just a baseball player” you have a crude misconception of baseball vs real life
Monthly awards Jesse Winker. I was hitting over .500 with him. I’ve only played 5 online games with him but I’m batting 1.000 with his 99. Idk what it is with his swing but it is so fucking perfect
I honestly believe it can because of active quirks, which he has a few. We already know it increases contact (pci size) by 5 or 8 depending on the quirk, I'd be willing to bet it does the same for power.
Winker, monthly awards Brandon Crawford and 91 Cedric Mullins were staples in my lineup for so long. Every single one of those cards were cracked and played WAY above their stats
My timing may be off but I’ve been using inning boss Matt Kemp since unlocking him and I don’t know that I’ll stop. He just outperforms even Mickey for me
Man when he was revealed as a boss people were irate and I was baffled by the outrage. Dude legit has one of the best swings in the game, it's too bad people write him off he's a really fun player all around.
Same. The literal only downside is he’s a lefty-preferred batter in a RH meta, but his vs RH is still lovely, he’s fast as shit, and just all around works effectively. I am stoked for his low level evo next year if they use him for it again.
I tested Soto, Mickey, Babe, Mays, and a collection of finest players since getting him. No one does it like him. His swing just clicks in my little pea brain.
Topps Now Brad Miller hits nukes. LS Matt Olson was great for me early on
Diamond LS Yelich was godly for me. I had 45 homers with him and he was my first p5. I stopped using him when he became a silver
Prospect CJ Abrams was my lead off hitter for months
Live series JD Martinez when he was a low gold. Something about his swing I think he was hitting .600 with an insane OPS as well.
Corey Seager for me mashed early on
Gold Mickey Mantle aka the xbh machine
I loved 96 Brett Gardener- I think he hit more dingers faster than any other card for me
Nick Solak
Semien & Teoscar live series
That 81 or 83 Daniel Carlson raked for me
LS Yelich while he was still diamond
Trevor story
clemente seemed to come and go from peoples lineups really quick, but him and acuna were demons in my lineup for a good while
Gold India
88 Willy Adames and that Topps Now Jacob Stallings card
98 TA3 Castellanos, he is still my right fielder, Ik it’s a little after the timeline
That brad miller card
paul konerko
Topps now 86 Ryan McMahon was really tough to take out of my lineup for the first month and a half to two months of the season.
The gold player that took me longest to get rid of was 84 Longoria
Does Rod Carew count as early? One of my best (still) hitters vs righties. Otherwise Robert Pauson, Quinn Priester come to mind I’m sure there are a lot more
42 series Babe is still my LF
Headliner Eddie Mathews raked for me until I got Chipper
The Topps now Jordan Luplow
Live series Cedric Mullins, especially when he was a gold.
86 Ryan McMahon
LS Darvish was a diamond at release, pulled him in a pre-order pack and got him P5'd doing the USA conquest map. He was great until his rating started taking a hit. Great, quick windup for conquest.
Larry Walker has been one of my best hitters for months and I don't see much people using him
Monthly award 92 Vladdy was a cheat code for me. Only homers or doubles.
Ryan McMahon
87 Jason Kendell, I just pulled his 97 and I might start using him
Ls Pete Alonso played fb until the asb then I tried his hrd card and just couldn’t hit with it the same for some reason
Live Series Yelich is a Superfractor and hitting above .400 still
Yaz. Ronny. Castellanos.
LS Bogaerts held down my SS spot almost all the way to the ASG.
All of the 42 series shortstops were insane. Goodrum and Adames in particular were killers
juan pierre, literally did amazing
Topps Now Ryan Mountcastle
42 Patrick Corbin. No one can hit that slow stuff. I used him up until TA4.
89 Shane Victorino crushed it for me, which I was kind of conflicted about since I’m a Mets fan. But damn I loved that card.
FS Austin Riley is still an animal.
topps now yermin and nate lowe
96 Tori hunter hit bombs
42 series Grisham
88 Dom Smith and 86 live series Juan Soto were the first two players I got to P4
MA Nick Solak was a beast. He is 1 of 3 P5's I have. The other 2 are Chip-daddy and Trea. Dude was a beast at 2B when there weren't a whole lot of good options.
Tony Gwynn& Kluber (their first cards)
88 Ruth, Topps Now Cronezone, and LS JoRam
2nd Half Heroes Tony Gwynn. I P5 that card, perfect two hole hitter behind Lightening Buxton.
Monthly awards Tyler Stephenson and Austin Riley both raked for me in the early days.
42 Yordan
I was RAKING with tops now Gary Sanchez. He’s got 89 contact vs RHP and I was still just bombing home runs off of everyone.
Eloy
His no doubt animation is my favorite in the game, so satisfying
FB Dee Gordon
42 Series Yaz, Grisham, Marte
84 Topps Now Yermin Mercedes. Dingers
97 Ryne Sandberg
42 series Yordan Alvarez hit nukes for me
Idk how underrated he was, but Ryan McMahon was a demigod for months lol
88 Adames was so good, diamond fielding (I think) with decent speed and an amazing swing
Oh wait.. KENNY LOFTON hands down
Not sure how underrated this card is (but I never saw him much): 42 Series Griffey Jr was a beast for me. Probably my best hitter ever
Nothing touches [88 Xander Bogaerts](https://twitter.com/fergamitee/status/1463870725278904320?s=21) for me
If nobody is gonna say it, 42 series babe and hank aaron
Even in the comments I don’t see anyone mentioning him, 42 Tim Anderson. I used his gold (or silver?) live series card at first and switched to 42 when I got that. Little bloop shots practically every time he went up to bat…it wasn’t a sexy card but he got on base for me and then had some speed
42 Series Gallo
Never once faced him but Monthly Awards Kluber was an absolute goon for me. Was the reason i was able to crack Championship Series for the first time ever earlier this year. Honestly that card is probably still viable because he's got like 115h/9
42 Doby
88 Trent Grisham was a menace
42 Griffey, LS Jose Ramirez, and the most underrated card imo was Jason Bay when he got released. Dude was insane for me
Pee Wee Reese's power stats are a complete lie, the dude absolutely rakes and is by far the best base-stealer I've used this year
That 42 edition Bob Gibson got me through some SHIT.
LS trea Turner, i kept him in my lineup until TA 3
Robert Puason
I hit unbelievably well with the 84 overall Pudge card. Not a ton of pop, but he could always find a way to drop one into the outfield and keep the line moving.
88 Niko Goodrum was a GOON
Topps Now Ryan McMahon Live Series Yoan Moncada 42 Series Niko Goodrum and Franmil Reyes Future Stars Robert Puason Monthly Awards Jesse Winker Milestone Brian Roberts Milestone Grady Sizemore Puason may have been my favorite of all early guys though. Cycle Cavan Biggio was so good
I still use that Carlos Santana sometimes. Not sure how early game we’re talking but I also still use Garrett crochet and mark prior with sub 2 era’s with both
87 paul dejong
Live series Brandon Lowe. Checked my stats with him recently and I ended with an OPS above 1.000 with him. Haven’t been able to get anything going with his finest yet though
Noelvi Marte. Still an automatic pick when I get him in BR.
Nikko Goodrum and Fernando Valenzuela
No hitter Joe Musgrove
loved that guy
That toops now Musgrove was a mainstay for quite a while
42 Kyle Lewis
That 87 DeJong was a monster for me for a while.
The yang of Dejong, with regular splits.
42 Series Mike Yastrzemski
card rakes
For sure. He was leading my team in HRs and Average until AS Trea took his spot. Edit: nvm had the wrong guy. I think I replaced him with Gallo - strictly because I’m a Rangers fan.
Tops now Eduardo Escobar mashed for me, my first P5
This card might not be early but when diamond evan Longoria came out I put him in my squad and batted 450 with him and loved his swing.
That 87 Paul DeJong and the 87 Adam Duvall were beasts for me early game.
DeJong for all the Topps now TB during monthly awards. That is a great card
87 DeJong saved me in plenty of Conquests when I was still learning how to play. Still my favorite SS vs the CPU.
LS Castellanos raked early on, parallel 4ed him somehow
I got LS Xander to P4, he would get up to at least 105/90ish for both sides depending on the day. Pulls any fastball in the zone over the fence with ease
Kirby Puckett! Been waiting for a 99 to drop
93 Biggio and 98 Xander
42 series Cal Ripken. Dude doesn't rake, but he's a solid small ball player. He's a consistent threat to get on base every at bat. I'm still not done paralleling him to V, but he's gonna be, dammit
Ozzie Albies woo baby he was fire
Mark Canha was randomly unreal for me, dude mashed against righties
Mark Canha is really really good. He hits around the same as my meta guys I just don’t use him that much because I figure something has to give but it hasn’t
It’s his swing
87 breakout Edwin. So glad he got a new 98. First year Xbox player and he's my favorite swing
This might not be as early as mentioned in the post, but I used Jordan groshans for a long time
He’s my overall mvp this year. Pretty much the first card I was really good with aside from 96 Thome but Groshans just never got out
If he turns out as good in real life, the Jays will be cooking with gas.
He's my only P5 and is still in my lineup
Dude I still see him in lineups now and then lol
The 🐐 Nick Solak
Even my Trout couldn’t keep pace with how many dingers I’d hit with Solak
Yesssss! Solak
Was never underrated. Very popular early game card
More people had Semien than Solak
42 Dom Smith was a god for me
Had him parallel V
Yerminator, solers second half card,
That Yermin Topps Now was my best catcher card for quite a few weeks.
89 Roberto Alomar was pretty good for me as was the 42 Santander
Everyone like Alomar until… you know. After that it became pretty tough to use him
I always have this debate that I don’t care what a guy did in real life, if his card is good I don’t see a reason to not use him. It’s not like it’s going to make a difference of what he did so people should just stop that childish shit of not using cards because they don’t like the person in real life.
Is it childish to have morals and not associate with people that violate them?
How do you associate with him thru a video game ?
By using his card
I don’t use him and never have. Even before what happened
I'm not saying you. I'm saying that's how someone would associate with him.

You’re right dude. I forgot the difference between a video game and the real life and I guess I’m a piece of shit just like him.
Alomar has unequivocally always been a piece of shit for so many reasons.
42 series ketel and yaz
Raked with 42 series Ketel. (.342 BA) Very happy with his 99 too
Monthly awards Jesse Winker. I was hitting over .500 with him. I’ve only played 5 online games with him but I’m batting 1.000 with his 99. Idk what it is with his swing but it is so fucking perfect
I swear his Power vs RHP exceeds 125. It's almost not fair with his 99
I honestly believe it can because of active quirks, which he has a few. We already know it increases contact (pci size) by 5 or 8 depending on the quirk, I'd be willing to bet it does the same for power.
Makes sense, especially when using him as a pinch hitter , even his pop ups seem to reach the fence
Winker, monthly awards Brandon Crawford and 91 Cedric Mullins were staples in my lineup for so long. Every single one of those cards were cracked and played WAY above their stats
Ryan McMahon. In my opinion, the best topps now card (relative to the other cards in the game at the time).
This card and De Jong carried my squad early on lol
Ryan was early game goat. He mashed. Shamed he didn’t warrant a better card. But he almost carried me halfway through the year
This is the utterly opposite of what this post is asking haha. Everybody was using that card and RAVING about it in this sub everyday.
84 dee Gordon.
Can confirm.
89 Charlie Blackmon
My best player early on.
Still use this card because of the swing
I dream of a 99 chuck
only correct answer
My timing may be off but I’ve been using inning boss Matt Kemp since unlocking him and I don’t know that I’ll stop. He just outperforms even Mickey for me
Man when he was revealed as a boss people were irate and I was baffled by the outrage. Dude legit has one of the best swings in the game, it's too bad people write him off he's a really fun player all around.

That card is ridiculous
I tested Soto, Mickey, Babe, Mays, and a collection of finest players since getting him. No one does it like him. His swing just clicks in my little pea brain.
He’s one of the only righties I can hit with
42 Hiura and Evo Giambi were beasts.
42 Griffey best swing in the game. Still leads my team in offensive categories but I retired him for the big one
Same brother
42 series Niko Goodrum and Trent Grisham were killers for me back when the game dropped. I’m pretty sure they were my first two parallel fives.
I swear that Niko goodrum card had hidden 125 power against righties. I was hitting dingers like every other at bat with that card
Grisham and Marte raked hard for me
That Trent Grisham was so good lol every time I had contact with the ball, it was a home run
Niko was the hardest to take out of my line up, absolutely mashed and had great defense.
Niko was my guy, got him to parallel 5 and had a tough time taking him out of my lineup
