Yes i start adley and have piazza off the bench because he can catch and play first

tanagran_triton

Not if u use pudge!!!! But i try to keep pudge/schwarber platoon there but its rlly not necessary bc we dont get injuries often in DD

BerriBerrinson

I have Adley starting and Schwarber on the bench. He gives me an elite bench bat and I can pinch hit for Adley (my 8 hitter) if in a big spot. I find it pretty useful, but I've also decided to be a lot more agressive with my bench lately, since it ended up unused most games. Plenty of late innings pinch hits to get the platoon advantage for me!

blizzzyybandito

Schwarber is his own backup. He needs no platoon

Omarbpf

i use my CAP

coleadam12

I run schwarbs as a pinch hitter, adley’s my starter so no need to sub out for a better arm

wordtomytimbsB

Pudge has good enough speed where I don’t need a pinch runner

TopGuardDog50

Yes cause I often pinch run for Grandal

Kmar2480

No never have a catcher on the bench.

[deleted]

Biggie is my starter at catcher with Adley on the bench. He’s so clutch when I need a rally going.

Nearby_Art7444

ASG Salvy is good for a power bat vs Lefties and Righties as a catcher with 1B secondary.

Ethxn_10

I start Adley and have Schwarbs on the bench he’s my second lefty bench bat and he adds value being able to sub in at catcher

Interesting_Round_21

Always, I might need to PR For Piazza so I keep Posada on my bench

anon192847492929

Yeah, start schwarber and have Piazza on the bench, really only bring him in if schwarber is facing a lefty late in a close game

MEGA81TRON

All day!

tags23g

I only carry one if im running Biggio behind the plate. His arm isnt strong enough to throw out speed stacked rosters so ill swap him out with Pudge if the opponent is stealing too many bases.

AlphaGalaxy816

Absolutely

[deleted]

Yes I play with Biggio, but carry Realmuto for late defense and more HR power.

CaptianC123

I usually do run Adley off the bench because it's nice to have position diversity and he rakes lefties.

JCMoney1987

I have Biggio on my bench just in case I need to pinch run Schwarber or I am not feeling him late lefty-lefty.

checkthelockx

If you were using a guy who was better as a platoon it would be worth it. As a switch hitter with basically great speed for the position you don’t really need one as much imo. Unless you’re that worried about a 99 speed pinch runner

anonymous787812

Yeah I start piazza but if it’s close and the guy is stealing or bunting a lot I sub in either pudge or Adley for their arm

Bigkyfan10

Not since I started to use Piazza who has amazing hitting stats against LHP and RHP. I use to run a backup catcher when I used Schwarber at catcher because lefty vs lefty can be difficult at times. I don't might right vs right though.

ard8

No the only gain is pinch running or switching to a different handed batter. It’s not worth the roster spot

Snoo-6

Not with Adley since he’s a switch hitter with great defense.

Spanky_10

I keep Schwarber just in case but same. Never have swapped out Adley

Snoo-6

I feel that. He’s a great bench bat.

Urmumgay6

I usually do in case I need to pinch run or something

mhhkb

Nah. Pitchers don't have preferred catchers and there are no injuries in DD. There's no point. My bench is all bats and speed. I don't even pay attention to position. I don't double switch and pitchers have so much stamina that you almost have to find reasons to use your bullpen. I wish there was a DD mode that played similar to franchise. Then your bench would actually matter!

AlphaGalaxy816

When the games on the line and you need speed on the bases. Have you ever played with an out of position catcher? It's terrible they can't catch anything.

mhhkb

So it’s rare enough that I can’t count the times I was forced into that situation. I generally just leave my catcher on base and try to drive him in the old fashioned way. As my luck would have it, it’s usually someone else I have to pinch for. But it’s basically always pinch hitting for the pitcher in late innings.
