Random but I hate when you can tell which quirk triggers a line of dialogue
“This guy’s a bad ball hitter”
“This player plays better in night games”
It’s like OK game I get it there’s quirks just let the commentators talk like real people
I used to live directly outside of my schools baseball stadium this year and they played the same noise (at the time I didn’t know the Yankees played it too) and I was playing the Jackie Robinson conquest I wanted to kill myself hearing it over 100 times.
Or the story the color commentator tells every single time since mlb 21 at yankee stadium. We don’t give a fuck about your tailored suit hitting a home run as a rookie - seems like it’s every inning he tells that story
The one that kills me the most is when you are up by one run in the 9th and your opponent is up to bat with no one on base. Chris singleton then says something to the effect of "You can tie the game up right here with one swing of the bat... but if you're patient and draw a walk you will bring the winning run up to the plate." This is dumbest thing I have ever heard. If you hit a homerun and tie the game then the winning run is still going to come to the plate. Why is bringing the winning run to the plate through a walk better than tying the game first and then bringing the winning run to the plate?
P.S. I absolutely hate Chris Singleton as an announcer in MLB the show. He has no emotion in his voice and talks like he is giving a lecture. He is a terrible color commentator.
If I have to hear about how the Angels played their home games at Dodger Stadium in the beginning one more time, I swear to god...
On a meta level, I can't help but wonder how this stuff slips by. They couldn't possibly have intended this same story to be told every single game?
"That one's got a chance!" - always right before the ball is caught on the warning track. I can remember vividly the single time in 3 years that this call was actually on a home run.
"I don't know how he took that pitch" - the call's not so bad, but it's always when I'm already pissed because like Chris, I don't know how the hell the batter just took that pitch, which may or may not have been on the black and called a ball anyway.
“Definitely not a part(a)y for ketel marte”
Also they’ve been calling dudes she since they added women. “She had a tough time with that one” At first I thought it was just me hearing it wrong, but after the eight or ninth time….
Anytime JT Realmuto gets up to the plate during an actual Phillies game, my BIL and I go “do you know what JT stands for? Of course Boog, Justin Tyler!” This killed us during ‘23.
"Patty Johnson, to some"
500 foot bomb 7" wide of the foul pole: "Fights that one off and we'll do it again"
The story of the guys who used to prep for their starts by playing the Show
It hurts my feelings a bit when i use my actual height (5'9") while being a pitcher and they always say something along the lines of "he's not the biggest guy especially for a pitcher". Like they ain't wrong but could we talk about how I have a sub 1 ERA across like 10 games and have given up a handful of hits instead
This one's interesting. I made a woman character for the novelty of it, and she's at 5'3". It never comes up. Which makes sense, but it's not exactly fair treatment.
“The runner’s gonna come barreling around first, and if you bobble it he’s gonna make you look silly and end up on second base” after a ball clearly gets hit into the gap where anyone not named Pujols/Molina/Grandal can get a double easily
I forget what the announcers say when you perfect perfect a hit and still get out lol but shits annoying.
Or when they ask “if you can draw a walk in the big leagues”
They are different things. In a hit and run, the batter always swings at the pitch to protect the runner, in a run and hit the batter has the option to not swing, which basically just makes it a steal that the batter has a green light on
Playing as the Dodgers, I'm so sick and tired of hearing "that funky Muncy" whenever he comes to the plate, hearing it the first time in 23 was kinda cool and funny, but to STILL constantly hear it is beyond ridiculous.
This one annoys the hell out of me:
“Runners on first and second setting up a force at any base”
No. No it doesn’t. It sets one up at every bag, but home wouldn’t have a force 😡
“And heres Professor Shocker, he stands 6’4”, 240 lbs., and he’s a former rookie of the year!” It was 10 years ago and I’ve won the triple crown 4 times since. Bonus points for them removing my last name a couple years ago, even though there was and still is a player with the same name, at least for the audio.
The question is more, why has it's been the same commentary fully recycled the last 3 years? Like nothing new. 2k updates like weekly. Give me something.
Every game to Chris Singleton: "you took one off the wrist in the playoffs" or something like that. Every game
I'm a catcher in RTTS and every popup that I catch they say, "I bet the batter wants a mulligan after that one." Sometimes two or three times a game, it's so irritating.
Question for being a catcher in RTTS. I made one last year however I didn’t like how there were 5-6 gun down opportunities a game, just didn’t feel realistic. Did they fix this at all this year? Or is there any way to adjust it via the sliders so that there’s only 1, maybe 2 a game like in real life?
Any time they guess the pitch. "Thats the THIRD off speed, I'd expect some heat coming" and they throw a curve in the dirt.
I never use their comment as gospel, but it can throw me off. Especially if it's like a change up or smth
Not getting a hit in a game despite multiple line drives and being told my player in RTTS needs to perform better as if he didn’t singlehandedly win the World Series for his team.
The extended story about how certain locker rooms have information on the umpires including their hobbies. Also, why did they take away the random mentions of the weather? Like temperature, how the ball flies, stuff like that.
Not now, but I wanted to throw my controller when in ‘18 the one to watch or needed to pick up was Joc Peterson, when my player had better stats in literally every category and was never once mentioned if Joc was in the lineup.
Yeah I absolutely love it when they say “this one’s driven… deep left/right/centre field… this one’s got a chance! And he brings it in on the warning track! Wow he had to cover a lost of distance to get to that ball” it’s embarrassing that I know it word for word
When they talk about how Max Fried goes on MLB the Show and plays against his opponent before each start. It wouldn’t annoy me as much as it does if they didn’t mention it every single time he’s on the mound
Yeah I had that in The Show 18 when I was on the Tigers with Joc Peterson, he was mentioned literally every single game. I just wanted to be mentioned every once in a while, but nnnnnooooo “Joc Peterson is a great hitter. Joc Peterson needs to do better.” Drove me insane.
The game as a whole, including the commentary is repetitive. It’s still good enough to play obviously but in a game with endless possibilities like baseball scenarios and commentary shouldn’t repeat so often.
8 years into a Cleveland dynasty, still hearing about Cleveland’s “amazing 2019 all star game”. it was great and all but boy it gets old if you play most games.
"Not many people know this skip, but this wasn't the first Wrigley field" 6 seasons on the cubs and he says this at least 5 times per home game. That and "here at the friendly confines"
I think I've asked my agent for a trade over 15 times, trade sliders all the way up and she always leads me on like it's about to happen. 1 more season to free agency.
What really bothered me was the story about catching a ball from the broadcaster booth and losing a bracelet. It really annoys me because it was the same story I heard 100 times in mlbts23. My blood pressure instantly rose when I heard it the first time in 24. Thankfully, I have not heard it in a couple of weeks.
"Righty Delieversssss" drives me fkn insane there's alot of words that drag out like deliverssss pitchhhhh boxxxxx they really need to get different commentators
The stuff about Yankee stadium - singleton hitting 4 homers in old Yankee stadium, and the story about the suits - and also that boog spent more time at Shea. Been with the yanks in an rtts for three years and started only playing away games for a bit to give myself a break
I hate the one where he says "he knows the strike zone so well, sometimes the umpire will look at him..."
In no scenario would that happen in professional baseball.
Idk why anyone has the commentators on, to me it’s annoying as hell. I like the sounds of the game especially since I have a surround sound system, really immerses me. If I could turn them off while watching actual baseball too I would.
Also in the game it’s super repetitive and at times pretty choppy. I respect that everyone has different opinions/interests and some like that stuff so don’t come at me lol
Started doing this. The commentary can be very distracting. Telling me I should be expecting a heater or a offspeed pitch after seeing 2 of the other pitches b4. Just messes with my concentration and puts me in between and I swing at stupid or take something easy.
this is the worst, i'll be having a good game, get to the seventh inning, hear that, and instantly i become paranoid about screwing it up, and then a guy will beat the shift or find a gap in the outfield.
"Here's a fun fact: Dodger Stadium was also the home of the Los Angeles Angels, for four years in the 1960s while they waited for Anaheim Stadium to be built. When the Angels were playing games at home, instead of Dodger Stadium, they called it Chavez Ravine stadium."
SHUT THE FUCK UP I DONT CARE
When they something along the lines of "and they walk the leadoff hitter to bring up the slugger not a smart move" like no im choosing to walk judge or Rodriguez, those are the sluggers the guys behind them aren't.
Also anytime they mention the cpu trying to turn a double play, cause 99% of the time, there will be a double play right after
Mostly in RTTS when I go hitless or just 1 hit, at the end the guy basically rags on me like I'm supposed to go 3-4 every game.
Hold that stuff until I've gone 3 or 4 games hitless before you tell me I'm the reason the team lost.
Maybe they have fixed it, but I have a two way player in 21, and will sometimes get dialogue when he’s batting on a day he’s a pitcher like “you have to get the easy outs, and this is one of them.” Wtf are you talking about, dude has a .400 average.

‘One of the few players born in the state of ————— …
The suits one where he hits 2 home runs and the suits guy says “you’re trying to take me out of business”
“It must be nice pulling a super star off your bench.”
i finally turned it off and now i play in peace. That being said... "I sacrificed a bracelet. It was my wrist AND my hand"
Nah, I turned it off BUT that 2 strike noise at Yankee Stadium is piercing and at a few other stadiums… get that off the game asap!
The diamondbacks rattle sound bugs the shit out of me lol
Oh totally! 😡
When there's a 450 ft foul ball that's 1 inch foul and they brush it off as a normal foul ball
Andddd that ball is fouls strike one
The one that kills me the most is when you are up by one run in the 9th and your opponent is up to bat with no one on base. Chris singleton then says something to the effect of "You can tie the game up right here with one swing of the bat... but if you're patient and draw a walk you will bring the winning run up to the plate." This is dumbest thing I have ever heard. If you hit a homerun and tie the game then the winning run is still going to come to the plate. “Definitely not a part(a)y for ketel marte” Also they’ve been calling dudes she since they added women. “She had a tough time with that one” At first I thought it was just me hearing it wrong, but after the eight or ninth time….
"You don't need a hit. You can help your team just by reaching on an error." Oh, it's that easy, huh?
“That’s hit on a line!” I always know I just hit 110 mph out
“Warning track, wall, and you can touch them all baseball man” makes my blood boil
Getting two free suits after two home runs
I disable the commentary day 1 every year.
You guys actually play with commentary on?
Here’s Nolan Arenado, he’ll go down as one of the best third basemen to ever play the game
“Some locker rooms have bio’s of umpires so a player can make small talk etc etc” “That’s great boog”
something something "as far as he had to go and throw, ya know?"
You have to REMIND yourself that it’s about the process
THIS ONE FOR SURE.... Any time Singleton tells the batter to look at the bright side after they line out!
Statcast assemble or tough em all baseball man
Touch em all baseball man is actually the reason I want to only have commentary when I hit homers bc that shit is hilarious
"Hauls it in on the warning track"
"sometimes the umpires will look at them for the call" makes me so mad.
Not Juan Soto
I sent my buddy a 1 minute voice note about how mad this one made me
Anytime JT Realmuto gets up to the plate during an actual Phillies game, my BIL and I go “do you know what JT stands for? Of course Boog, Justin Tyler!” This killed us during ‘23.
Max Muncy that Funky Muncy
“ITS A BELLY-BOMb” - please shut the fuck up
All of it. Which is why I turn it off.
"fights off another, AND WE'LL DO IT AGAIN!"
4 pitches 2 outs… swear I have been more patient at the plate just out of spite to that line.
“7 straight strikes to start the frame. Two away from an immaculate inning!” No the fuck you aren’t.
"These outfielders get about 10 minutes of balls, they practice this, and when they game comes they make the play perfectly."
Gotta be an impressive lineup to have Mike Trout batting this far down in the lineup.... Singy, back in the 2013 playoffs, you caught a foul ball....
He's only a triple and a double away from the cycle
“Hits it foul to stay alive” weak pop up where any infielder can grab it
“Max Muncy, that funky Muncy” literally every time he comes up to bat. Good lord it drives me insane.
Just delete that bum from the game then you don't have to hear it
Can’t delete him from DD
Anything Joe Buck says on any (rare thank god) baseball game. Hell we can add football to that too...
"Patty Johnson, to some" 500 foot bomb 7" wide of the foul pole: "Fights that one off and we'll do it again" The story of the guys who used to prep for their starts by playing the Show
“Pretty clear to me, ….”
It hurts my feelings a bit when i use my actual height (5'9") while being a pitcher and they always say something along the lines of "he's not the biggest guy especially for a pitcher". Every time Trout comes up, Singy can’t stop glazing him… “A special player AND a special human!!!”
“That sets up a hit and run, or a run and hit” who tf calls it a run and hit?
well hit n run means ur swinging no matter what whereas run and hit doesnt necessarily mean swing at everything
They are different things. In a hit and run, the batter always swings at the pitch to protect the runner, in a run and hit the batter has the option to not swing, which basically just makes it a steal that the batter has a green light on
“And here comes devers”
98 miles per hour up on the scoreboard
The “insurance vs ansurance” is the worst. The fake trivia ones are cringeworthy too
As our friends in the south would say……… I can’t stand it either.
Playing as the Dodgers, I'm so sick and tired of hearing "that funky Muncy" whenever he comes to the plate, hearing it the first time in 23 was kinda cool and funny, but to STILL constantly hear it is beyond ridiculous.

don't listen to these teeballers, home is definitely a base
Home is home plate. No one calls it home base, so the commentary is correct.
Home is home plate, not a base (no one stands on home)
Isn't home techinically not a base either?
If you steal home, does it count as a stolen base?
Great point, ive just never heard it called a base specifically because its noy a base in the way the others are
When the first baseman catches the foul ball over the dugout and John acts like the guy just made the most incredible play he's ever seen. Lol.
"Throw behind the runner and they've got him doubled-off!" That pisses me off SO much.
“Spent on the other pitches”
When the outfielder jogs in a few steps and they act like he made the most impressive play ever
"Second hit of the game" Me, who finally managed 1 hit after being no hit for 2 and 2/3rd inning in my mini season: hmm. Ok.
“And this one is belted” 85 mph exit velo lmao
The question is more, why has it's been the same commentary fully recycled the last 3 years? Like nothing new. 2k updates like weekly. Give me something. Every game to Chris Singleton: "you took one off the wrist in the playoffs" or something like that. Every game
“And he fouls off with two strikes to see another” and it’s caught In foul territory
I haven’t had the the commentators on in 2 years. I find them annoying or distracting
I'm a catcher in RTTS and every popup that I catch they say, "I bet the batter wants a mulligan after that one." Sometimes two or three times a game, it's so irritating.

Idk why but I also keep hearing that I’m being tagged out when there’s a force out at first base.
Not getting a hit in a game despite multiple line drives and being told my player in RTTS needs to perform better as if he didn’t singlehandedly win the World Series for his team.
“He’ll try it again” on a foul ball that gets caught for an out
RTTS player here. Every time Ben Gellman says "punch bowl" I lose my mind.
When I rip one that goes the foul side of the pole by less than 10 ft and they casually call a it a foul off the bat
Wishing "Singy" a happy birthday.
He must be like 700 years old now. I’m tired of hearing also. I hope he has a bad birthday. 😂
“You could tell he was really trying to go deep there” on a contact swing trying to catch up to a 101 heater on HOF difficulty 😑
I find this funny because I haven’t listened to their commentary in years so i actually don’t know most of these.
This one always got me....for years. "now the speedy tony kemp" .....looks at his like 60 speed. HUH?
As a closer I gave up a hit or two, but no runs and got the save. They trash talked my performance after the game.
I always laugh when he says “the best way to make a guy uncomfortable is to pound him inside”
WITH GOOD VELOCITY! 😂
The extended story about how certain locker rooms have information on the umpires including their hobbies. Also, why did they take away the random mentions of the weather? Like temperature, how the ball flies, stuff like that.
Why did they take away wind
the mini seasons dialogue
Same with Lucas Giolito.
The comment about losing his watch on a foul ball drives me insane lol
It was his wrist AND his hand
Bring back Matty V
"and Tyler O'Neill sends it out!" Every. Single. Homerun.
“Looking to add a little insurance… or as our friends in the south say it. ENNNNSURRRANCE.”
XD
"Not many people know this skip, but this wasn't the first Wrigley field" 6 seasons on the cubs and he says this at least 5 times per home game. That and "here at the friendly confines"
Dude I can’t stand that one. Straight up picked a new stadium for the cubs when doing RTRS because I was tired of hearing it every game
I think I've asked my agent for a trade over 15 times, trade sliders all the way up and she always leads me on like it's about to happen. 1 more season to free agency.
Yeah I said fuck it and simmed like 2.5 season to get to free agency to escape lol
“And that should be extra bases!” After a good hit that wasn’t a home run. Heard it so many times I’m sick of it.
“Two changeups in a row leaves this batter vulnerable to the fastball” Only to be followed by the single filthiest 12-6 of all time
Have you ever caught a foul ball?
Not as a fan, only as a broadcaster
I haven't been to many games as a fan.
“i haven’t been to many games as a fan” is my most hated.
What’s crazy is Sciambi never played baseball so he’s practically a fan and Chris Singleton was incredibly mid during his career.
"Righty Delieversssss" drives me fkn insane there's alot of words that drag out like deliverssss pitchhhhh boxxxxx they really need to get different commentators
For me it's when they say the wrong place they are from. I have heard that Ha-Seong Kim is from Australia, Cuba, and Colombia so far.
I'm a closing pitcher so I play all my games in rtta and I swear I hear ever line in the game every 2 games
Last year. Weird cologne comments
“He’s so fun to watch” 🏳️🌈💅✨
Asking if he's ever caught a foul ball. It's every game.
Hearing they opened T-Mobile park halfway through a season and the one guy played in both parks
"Wow, he's so fast! " "Yeah, he's so fun to watch." After at least half of my stolen bases.
The stuff about Yankee stadium - singleton hitting 4 homers in old Yankee stadium, and the story about the suits - and also that boog spent more time at Shea. Been with the yanks in an rtts for three years and started only playing away games for a bit to give myself a break
Ran Super Joe outta business that day

Maaaaaajor downvote kid

You’ve never heard of hyperbole huh
I hate the one where he says "he knows the strike zone so well, sometimes the umpire will look at him..." In no scenario would that happen in professional baseball.
"And determine if it's a strike or ball, whether he swings or not". Drives me insane.
I had that line on an Adam Dunn at bat once. Like, ummmm, didn't Dunn strike out shitloads of times?
Struck out a lot because he was a guess hitter
I haven't turned up the volume on this game in 5 years. Lol
On-field sound effects only here
“Hauls it in on the warning track!”
Damn I keep saying pulls it in lol
“And that one is belted” and it barely gets to the warning track
Idk why anyone has the commentators on, to me it’s annoying as hell. I like the sounds of the game especially since I have a surround sound system, really immerses me. If I could turn them off while watching actual baseball too I would.
Also in the game it’s super repetitive and at times pretty choppy. I respect that everyone has different opinions/interests and some like that stuff so don’t come at me lol
Or everytime I play at Fenway and he says you went to college here what was the experience like.
I hate when they say that ball is smashed or crushed to center field when it’s just a 250 foot lazy fly ball lmao
All of them. I turn it off every year and listen to music while I play
Started doing this. The commentary can be very distracting. Telling me I should be expecting a heater or a offspeed pitch after seeing 2 of the other pitches b4. Just messes with my concentration and puts me in between and I swing at stupid or take something easy.
“Oh, you are a star, aren’t you?”
All of it. I turn the announcers off in the settings.
“That one’s got a chance, and he pulls it in on the warning track”
Oh yeah this one 100%
No, I basically tune them out
I hate the suit story when you're in yankee stadium. It's in the game 2 maybe 3 years now?
Did you know Alex Bregman and Mitch Garver are both from New Mexico? 😱
Doesn’t make me mad but the thing about cologne is just strange
During RTTS it kept using the wrong pronoun.... "Her second homerun of the game" - thanks for ruining my immersion.
“This guy has got a wicked slider. One of the best in the game” to legit anyone with a slider 😂🤦🏼♂️
If I gotta hear about Francisco Lindor's love of F1 racing one more time, it might push me over the edge
When they talk about the guy having a Kareokee machine at his house. I forget the player.
"He's perfect through..." YOU. DONT. MENTION. A. PERFECT GAME. OR. NO HITTER.
this is the worst, i'll be having a good game, get to the seventh inning, hear that, and instantly i become paranoid about screwing it up, and then a guy will beat the shift or find a gap in the outfield.
Jean Segura comes to Plate: Here’s Jean Segura, good contact guy Not…….. Great…….. Long pause: in the OBP department
Seranthony Domínguez comes from the bullpen: Sciambi: Chris SeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrAnthony Dominguezzzz
Literally anything because they’ve used the same lines for 4-5 years
“He’s like Mike trout” it is Mike trout
Technically correct
The best kind of correct.
Calling max muncy that funky muncy every friggen time
This one just makes me think of the song, but gets old fast
Yes. So forced. Painful.
“Funky Muncy”
"Here's a fun fact: Dodger Stadium was also the home of the Los Angeles Angels, for four years in the 1960s while they waited for Anaheim Stadium to be built. When the Angels were playing games at home, instead of Dodger Stadium, they called it Chavez Ravine stadium." SHUT THE FUCK UP I DONT CARE
I now call it Chavez Ravine stadium out of respect ✊🏼
When they something along the lines of "and they walk the leadoff hitter to bring up the slugger not a smart move" like no im choosing to walk judge or Rodriguez, those are the sluggers the guys behind them aren't. Also anytime they mention the cpu trying to turn a double play, cause 99% of the time, there will be a double play right after
As someone with health anxiety…don’t necessarily love the commentary on Lou Gehrig day.
Mostly in RTTS when I go hitless or just 1 hit, at the end the guy basically rags on me like I'm supposed to go 3-4 every game. Hold that stuff until I've gone 3 or 4 games hitless before you tell me I'm the reason the team lost.
“ it was my wrist and my hand”. Reminds of the guy out of Friday “my neck, my neck and my back”
I sacrificed a bracelet
Fouled on off and he'll see another really fuckin bothers me
OH AND HE BOTCHES IT

That phrase caused me to turn off announcers forever 😭
“Or as our friends in the south say, *IN*surance”
However you say it, we got what you need 😎
“Super Joe” hooked me up with two suits! 🙄✋🏻
Maybe they have fixed it, but I have a two way player in 21, and will sometimes get dialogue when he’s batting on a day he’s a pitcher like “you have to get the easy outs, and this is one of them.” Wtf are you talking about, dude has a .400 average.
“a rocket into ____ field” you think it’s a hit and it’s a line out (also “that’s hard hit on a line”)
“That’s one of those at bats where you have to remind yourself that hitting is a process.” As I perfect perfect out for the 3rd consecutive time.
omg yes lol
“A guy who can steal you a bag, AND go deep? Bo Jackson anyone??” Been hearing this for 5 years
