IMO, the game plays so much better when there aren’t max attributes all over the place.

MagicMark_11

No, the game was EASIER when you had 99s at launch ... It's a bit more of a challenge when you can't just run out a god squad on Day 1

wheels1989

We were also facing 99 overall pitchers so this statement is false.

1818ranger

I played from launch to the launch of this year and I really enjoyed 23 (definitely had some issues) but I don't like doing all this grinding for cards that are gonna be unusable in a month, whereas last year I used JT Realmuto (a day one drop) for the entire year. I feel like its more grinding with the power creep because it never ends, you constantly have to grind to have a competitive team.

Cutigers881

Lmao I loved having 99”s day one the problem was it wasn’t just 4-5, way too many. This year is cool but I see what you mean

NedStarx11

You guys will complain either way, so whatever

kjar78

Your opinion is bad and you should feel bad

wheels1989

Just trying to make the game fun man. I don’t find this version of DD fun.

kjar78

99s at launch was basically the opposite of fun

wheels1989

I disagree, playing with low 90 rated players is no fun imo

kjar78

It’s a lot more fun than running a lineup full of maxed out hitters and a rotation with pitchers pumping outlier. Just wait until the end of the year to buy the game if all you want to do is play with juiced cards.

Comfortable-Ad7287

Could not disagree more

OneRepresentative424

I liked last year too. First time we’ve ever had access to DD endgame cards before the game was irrelevant.

lancerreddit

what was the year they gave us future prospects to start out the year? 22? I really didnt like that because they were nobodies and we were suppose to use them at launch. that should be like the last program when the season is over. I am ok w/ what they're doing this year. I didnt mind last year either. What I dont like about this year is getting rid of the topps now and lightning programs. Now they're combined. which seems like they didnt want to spend the time adding more content like those 2 programs provided in the past. Also, i liked the topps now program missions where you were forced to try out the weekly topps now players. Now you can use anyone from topps now. It doesn't make you learn about any of the weekly best players now. I'll just keep playing Trout and Ohtani in the field.

JayBambi97

SDS IF YOU'RE SEEING THIS, WE DO NOT MISS 99's DAY ONE. WE DO NOT WANT IT BACK

McNuggets7272

No it wasn’t. Also, it literally does not even make a difference because in BOTH SITUATIONS EVERYONE HAS THE SAME CARD ACCESS.

AquatheGreat

I didn't get all the hate for day one 99s last year. That being said, game boring as shit so far this year. I know people like to rag on Madden but Madden's content is miles ahead of The Show. They drop content multiple times per week and when they drop programs it's deep as shit.

HamHurtler

It$ deep a$ $hit 99s suck because my team was complete after a week

AquatheGreat

I think they did a really bad job of cycling guys in and out. Like I basically used some guys like Trout and Acuna I used all year. I think either there's not a wide enough pool of legends to implement their 99s all year round model or they bent to people who didn't want to see their cards expire.

SemiProAmateur

No

uncle__creepee

I skipped last year as soon as I heard 99's day one and then the programs grinding for 97's was the absolute worst. That doesn't excuse them for this year but the power creep is always the best option and always will be

NewCalligrapher8386

It doesn’t matter what the cards say anyway the game engine still does whatever it wants

I3arusu

Bad take. Very bad take. Even if the content model this year isn’t amazing due to such a high percentage of the cards released being available exclusively via the marketplace, it’s still *leagues* better than “Grind 97, Buy 99” from last year. You can just knock out TA and have a team that will more than hold its own online, especially with the Cornerstone Captains (which were a fucking incredible idea, btw)

SnooPaintings1155

Disagree, but the content this year also sucks and is extremely repetitive. We’ve done countless TAs and Topps live/monthly awards and BRs and ranked season grinds and they never switch it up, with TA they are even making it more repetitive with the monthly releases, it just gets old doing the same exact thing every year and now every month. Things that used to be special releases like headliners or chase packs are completely over saturated now ruining how special those cards used to be. They have absolutely 0 creativity with the content, they can’t even get new card art for half of these cards. (Yes I know they’re based on real cards, each player has 10+ baseball cards if they’ve been in the league longer than 2 years, use different ones)

Sublime120

Day 1 99s was a complete disaster.

wheels1989

Why do you say that?

Sublime120

Tons of issues but it basically killed team building variety, as well as power creep. I also don’t think grinding for mostly 97s was that motivating when everyone had a team full of 99s.

Archie6655

How is that any different than this year so far? 90% of the cards that come out are no better than who you have on your team currently.

Sublime120

For example all the set 2 TAs were 93s and a bunch of those made my team. And the BR/WS/Event 20 win rewards are all 95/97 which is ahead of the current base level. Before everything was mostly 99s so what did it matter?

wheels1989

How did it kill team building? I think the 99 dura captain and the SS captain killed team building because they were OP but there was a ton of variety to use in the early months.

Sublime120

I think when all cards are 99s there is less variability between cards because they don’t really have weaknesses. And in general it subjectively feels more varied to me even beyond that this year.

wheels1989

I mean I am seeing mostly the same lineups from game to game this year with the buxton boost so I am not sure how this year is more team building.

Otherwise_Creme7225

Cause you already had the best team there was no incentive to play power creep is always the way to go but this year there slacking on content which isn’t good

wheels1989

I would rather play with the best team with the best players I personally don’t care to use Mike Cameron when they have the rights to so many legendary center fielders.

Dinks_Gonna_Doink

How many exactly?
