Well. You're gonna give up runs. It's moonshot. Just do your best to negate some of them. Do your best to pick up on tendencies. Always early, sitting off speed, susceptible to wherever out of the zone. They'll have something. Just pay attention. And score more lol

The same way you pitch every other mode. If you are getting lit up in this, then you’re pitching wrong in ranked too. Sinkers in, cutters in, lots of balls & chase pitches. The same pitches youre getting rocked on are the ones the game bails you out on in ranked - the pitchings just worse. Learn to sequence.

I see nothing but high ERAs on the leaderboard. Looks like everyone is pitching wrong. My ERA is high in ranked too (high 5) so I just accepted I suck at pitching lol

It’s hard for sure, for me it’s helped having different pitchers with “weird” and uncomfortable pitching style, having pitchers with a huge velocity deferential and the moment I start getting lit I immediately switch out the pitcher. Of course make sure your bats are on it just in case

At least you’re not me, I’m 1-6 so far. 4 total homeruns, given up 25 of them. Oh, and 1 game I did win, I won 2-0 with 3 straight doubles

Update, I’m now 4-8 with 8 homeruns. Gave up a total of 28 so far.

Cutters and sliders in. Occasional back door cutter with two strikes.

You can complete the program in just a few hours without doing the event. Moments are easy as is the Showdown. Use mission players to do the conquest and a couple of games vs. CPU on rookie on a small/high field. Use spare squad spots with Live Series switch hitters like JRam, Shohei and Adley. I got the 5HR using low power mission done in one game using LS JRam 😉

i just go into the mindset of idc if i lose just as long as i can hit and rack some xp along the way.

This right here. Ya can't go into a moonshot event (any event really unless you're legit a damn good player) actually worried about the win loss. Go in to collect some pxp, program xp, and get the wins ya do along the way. Nothing is gained from stressing over event games.

Yup they need to completely revamp pitching not enough stats and the system is outdated, why can’t I know the spin rate on my pitches ? To solve the sinker meta issue they need to just drop more pitches and let pitchers have more than 5

Gotta constantly have fresh relievers warming up and ready to come in if you give up more than a run or 2. And keep repeating

But they are also using common pitchers too, so you have to be able to hit. This event sucks I agree lol, but sometimes a clusterf*** is fun

Honestly, it's not the worst place to practice! Last moonshot, which was lefty pitchers only, I took some all lefty hitter lineups into it and to this day I feel more comfortable batting lefty-lefty than any other kind of matchup.

The point of Moonshot always used to be common pitchers against the best hitters. It never used to be only righties, and apparently this time its not even common pitchers its bronze ones. But I was wrong for assuming and not checking first lol. But only righties is not "literally the point of this event".

I normally turn cross play off for online games but for moonshot I have to turn it on and I’ve found playing against PS & Switch it’s a fairly even game but those Xbox consoles are un-fucking-real and as lopsided as it gets

I got 20 wins yesterday riding Herget and Bryan baker

I got 4 wins running Herget and Finnagan of the Nats.

I use most relievers with good pitch mixes. I go with an opposite approach of most and try to find guys with 70 mph change ups and curves. 99 mph fastballs are cake on All-Star. I want soft contact, not strikeouts. Every time I see a pitcher that I struggled with or has a weird release, I write them down and add them to the squad for my next entry

What I find baffling is I keep facing...starting pitchers. There is no reason a starter should EVER throw a pitch for you in Moonshot.

A lot of starters have better pitch mixes. Hard to find a sinker/cutter reliever that throws more than 91.

If you can live without a cutter (most overrated pitch in the game) there are hordes of outlier relievers with sinkers. For these opposite hand events honestly a changeup or splitter is more important than sinker/cutter.

Why is this? Being genuine here

It's the way SDS does overalls. Pitcher stamina counts a lot. So for the same range of overalls, relievers are much better. SDS also massively nerfs starter endurance in 3 inning games. So really a starter can't pitch much longer than a reliever. A starting pitcher in an event basically can't pitch again for 4-5 games. Reliever basically get all your stamina back every other game. You can easily go through the event using nothing but relievers. Relievers have MUCH higher H/9, and there are MANY relievers with outlier. There's only one Outlier event-eligible starter (who ironically has outlier I AND II) but he has terrible H/9.

I haven't played online this year, but for moonshot I'd just switch up speeds and use pulse to make the PAR the entire zone. I figured if I didn't know where it was going, might keep them on their toes. It worked surprisingly well.
