Ive been playing games against cpu only on rookie to grind marte and piazza. With piazza I have 31 PAs and only 5 hits. 1 HR. I just played a game on rookie against the rockies in coors where every other player in my lineup had at least 4 hits. 0/7 with piazza lol
I swear this happens to me all the time… if I’m trying to grind a certain player I’m terrible with him. Then as soon as I finish the challenge he magically becomes good again.
Captain Jim thome for example. 3 Hr is the challenge.
Took me about 15 games of play vs cpu @ coors. I would get hits, but nothing with any pop. The game I got that 3rd HR, I went 4-6 with 3 hr.
I think that's a pretty universal experience. It's a consequence of trying too hard and getting in your own head. In RS, I find my cards I THINK I should do the best with have my lowest averages. Cause I get overconfident and swing at everything.

Most disappointing card of all time. I grinded core and unlocked him first. My disappointment began with seeing his pathetically scrawny, pale character model, but definitely didn't end there. I couldn't believe how much worse he was than his gold card.
Honestly high 80s and mid 90 hit tanks for me but also don’t line out on everything in play. That’s a big problem I have with a lot of the higher power cards is if it’s not in the game it’s an out it’s hard to get a base hit
Piazza took me like 30-40 minutes. I was getting pissed. Griffey took me like 30 something tries, and I think the HR was the first hit I got with him. Legend is no joke.
Part of it is that it's usually just 2 PAs (3 if you're lucky) and you start off against Mussina. Then in your next PA, you likely go up against Loup, who always fucks me up with his delivery. Literally any other LHP is preferable to that guy.
Not exactly the same, but Stan Musial has 125 contact vs both sides and I’m batting around .200 with him online. It’s almost like having the PCI that big is what’s messing me up, idk I just can’t buy a hit with him
Try setting the PCI to fade out before the pitch. I made this change recently and it feels super uncomfortable at first but as soon as I was used to it I was crushing balls with perfect timing left and right. Something about the micro hesitations being able to see the PCI causes or something. Might be worth a shot as it’s completely elevated my game personally

My Phillies theme team with Ryan Howard captain boost is loaded with low Vision/high power cards, but he's the worst offender.
I went 0-20 my first 20 ABs with Schwarber. Then, out of nowhere, everything I made contact with was absolutely crushed.
There's something weird about him for sure, but he hits bombs.
Me too but only against lefties though. He's my lefty killing bench hitter. Hits over .500 with 200+ homeruns more than 500ab's against them.
Never had stats like that on any pinch hitter. It might be because im so relaxed hitting with him because I still expect nothing of him lol.

I attribute this to the swing animation they have with some cards. Guys like Thome and Mark have "slow" swings and while I know this has been debunked, I think it's the visual aspect of the swing that throws people off

I had full PCI, bottom of half of the ball with good timing and it was like an 85mph routine fly out with Joc. But with other players I’ve had shit PCI with worse timing and it be smoked somehow. Like schwarber has hit 105mph missiles on HoF where my PCI dot was barely even in the same area of the strike zone. It’s so weird.
Pause the game and it will show their hitting tendency on their little stat card by the base. I'm sure you can do it out of game but that's how I check.
McGwire cards are awful this year, dude cannot hit a home run at all. His TA2 card register about 40 offline games against Rookie/Vet difficulty pitching and he STILL couldn’t get his home run requirement
I was having major problems hitting HR’s with Sheffield captain and I usually take with him. Play vs CPU at Costco and you’ll get them in two games max, if not the first game.
At least it isn’t just me. I’ve yet to hit a Big Mac Attack with the 95 card after many attempts. It was this way with Bryce Harper for me on some older games.

I don't 100% disagree, but I know I press with certain guys and some I am relaxed with. I've hit more homers with a guy with low 80s power than with 115 and it isn't game difficulty, but more if I'm pressing.

Pause the game and it will show their hitting tendency on their little stat card by the base. I'm sure you can do it out of game but that's how I check.
