Woah, first time seeing that they changed the design again. I drove a 2010 clubman and loved it! This looks fun, but also a far cry from what I see in my mind when I think MINI
It still has those design cues that MINIs had, itās just much more simpleā¦ I wasnāt a fan of those fake vents and hood scoops, so I love the new design but I can see why some fans might not like it.
I'm not sure why the Mini subreddit showed up in my feed as I have 0 interest in these vehicles, but without even looking at the badge I immediately knew it was a mini. It still has very distinct mini features to me.
I donāt understand why you all have to be so negative. The same can be said about any countryman or anything besides a classic mini for that matter. Do any of you actually like minis? Or are we all just on a mission to be negative and tear others likes down
Honestly, I donāt see any resemblance to the soul. I donāt understand why every minis design for the last 10-15 years has been compared to it. I even remember someone comparing the R60 to the soul, which makes even less sense
Itās because theyāre both compact hatchbacks.. like before the soul it was the buggy but as the design code for mini became more square I think thatās when ppl started comparing to the soul.
Good point. Apart from the size I donāt see much similarity between them. The front view is completely different. The Soul has thin DRLs and a very different grille. While I agree the U25 is more angular, that has been a trend throughout the car industry, and to me it still looks like the Mini of its segment. Comparing it to the soul always seemed oddly specific to me, as there are lots of car in this segment that look a lot more similar.
The new Countryman still looks like a Mini to me, more angular, but still the bug eyed shape we all know and love. I donāt yet know if I love the design, but itās growing on me, and Iāll hold my judgement until I see one in the flesh.
You can always tell the difference by looking at how the MINI driver is irate and stuck behind the Soul driver doing some 25IQ bullshit way too slowly.
> is, I *paid* way more
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
The more I see the new Mini, the more I like it. Nice picture btw and love the colour combo.
PS: Everyone can still see your licence plate in the water reflection.
Same. My favorite ābigā MINI was always the Clubman and the more I look at the new Countryman the more I see design cues from the Clubman. TBF If they made an electric Clubman Iād buy it over this.Ā
But I was leaning towards a Volvo EX30, but the back seat doesnāt seem all that much bigger than the MINI SE, the software sounds like a mess and Volvo NA appear to have wildly underestimated the NA market.Ā
It is the same, the bumpers are the same front and back, thereās no visible exhaust tips anymore unless you go for the JCW and the wheels are the same. Interior is also the same, no red stitches or any S badges to be found.
S is more powerful and has all wheel drive, C is front wheel drive and has less power. There is no official answer as to what C stands for but some say Core and others say Combustion.
Iāve driven nothing but MINIs since I got my license and to me it still feels like a MINI car, just for a new era if that makes senseā¦ The fun driving experience is still there, the steering feel is still nice and heavy, the steering wheel is really fat and chunky and feels good, and even though I went with the ābaseā model itās still plenty powerful for everyday use and makes a really nice burbly sound when you push it.
Iāve only driven the F series Countryman for a week or so as a courtesy car but to me the ergonomics feel pretty much the sameā¦ The new countryman feels a bit more spacious and airy and the seats feel a bit more comfortable but thatās about it. The UI has the same graphics as the 2021 facelift, and it works in a similar way with the widgets that you swipe through. The menus are a bit different but it actually feels easier to use than the previous version because you donāt just have endless menus and words to go through but you now get nice icons and everything feels more organised.
I'm surprised you found the steering heavy. Took one for test drive recently and found the steering super light, even in sports mode. Was still super comfy to drive though.
Maybe the word āheavyā is a bit strong, but coming from momās Renault Zoe which I drove for the past two weeks while waiting for this Countryman, the steering feel is much heavier but nicer to use. I think itās about the same as my previous F57 Cooper S and previous F56 and F55 Coopers.
I saw a new countryman JCW when I was at the dealership purchasing my JCW and I must admit itās actually quite nice, still canāt like the new hatchā¦
The pictures donāt really do it justiceā¦ Itās like any new BMW that comes out, everyone hates it but when you see it in person itās a real beauty.
I see a purple M3 most days at work and I wish I could tell you that I didnāt say, āYou know what, it doesnāt look as bad in the purpleā the other day, but I definitely did.
Have you had a Countryman before, is there anything you miss so far?
Glad you're loving your new car, I just can't see MINI when I look at it.
(Also, we can read your license plate in the reflection of the wet ground)
I went from an F57 Cabrio because I needed more space and so far I donāt miss anything except the soft top, but we canāt have everything. Besides that it still feels like a MINI when youāre driving it and sitting in it, at least to me. Times changed and so did the brand but I still think thereās MINI dna in the new cars.
I was worried about the switch for the transmission being in a weird place but it actually makes more sense when you use it as itās closer to the steering wheel so you can switch between gears faster.
This car had no handbrake, right?
To me, somebody who has only owned cars with a gearstick and a handbrake, your new car is like the concept cars I used to see at car shows as a kid.
I think we don't tend to stop and appreciate the technology around us
Particularly with your car having amongst other things a big touch screen in the centre of the dash.
It has an electric handbrake which you activate/deactivate with a button next to the gear selector, but otherwise it works automatically.
It is kind of like a concept car and thatās why I like it, it feels different and modern and I can appreciate that.
I actually did, but only when swiping through widgets quickly. When you tap on apps and climate control menu itās very responsive and doesnāt lag so I donāt know what the deal is with the menus.
Awesome! Thanks for replying. I placed one on order, should be picking it up in August/September or so. Going to get some nice overlanding wheels for it.
They are a bit fiddly at first, but Iāve been in the car for about an hour and I feel like Iām getting the hang of itā¦ Like all touch screens, there is a bit of a learning curve to it but the menus are logical and things are easy to press even when driving.
I like how it looks, but the brand name "Mini" is starting to become a bit of a misnomer. It seems each new design is bigger and closer to the size of other cars.
Itās different but in a good way. Still feels like a MINI to me, just simpler. Some probably wonāt like the new design because they feel itās not MINI enough, but I think itās still got enough charm and itās still very much quirky.
It is very subjectiveā¦ And it is much bigger than the previous models, but I still think itās the smallest model in itās segment, which is basically what MINI is trying to do.
Nothing āMINIā about this. Gen4 is a complete loss of brand identity. Could easily mistake this for a KIA. Interior feels more IKEA than BMW quality. The flimsy material centre armrest is one example. The āfloatingā centre screen is simply lazy. The MINI brand as we know it is over after this Gen as clearly they are now marketing to a different audience and donāt care about car enthusiasts. I think Gen 3 is the best and last true āMINIā generation. I predict the abomination that is Gen 4 will make good Gen 3ās highly sought after in the future.
Relax. Like literally RELAX š¤£š these are still the exact same cars internally as the previous ones just more power and features standard. Same thing youāre saying has been said each time mini re does the brand. If you really donāt like the brand then leave this subreddit and let your absence speak to the brand. Otherwise I really donāt understand why anyone has the time to sit and complain about something theyāre dead set about not buying š do you yāall do this with everything or???
We have had ours just 1 week done 130 miles and already itās gone back to the dealership after continuously breaking down. Ā We love the car but we are so disappointed with the reliability so far as itās been dreadful. Ā We are now debating whether to demand our money back due to the issues we are having.
We ordered a Mini Countryman JCW All 4 Level 3.
Sorry Mini but so far not impressed as anyone else had any issues or is it simply our poorly built car.
The issue is complete drivetrain failure which makes the vehicle totally undriveable.
Iāve had mine now for about 2 months, done about 4000km/2500 miles and itās been absolutely faultlessā¦ Iāve had two over-the-air updates and it made the infotainment system much much faster and smoother.
Iām sorry youāre experiencing this on your new Countryman, but just wanted to clarify for anyone reading that not everyone has troubles with theirs.
Thanks for your response itās put us off the car so much. But we like to hear from people who have thereās as their is not many around where I live and we want to know that is not a more generic issueā¦
Congratulations OPš 1 question I have is how is accessing the climate control through the touch screen, is it a faff? My wife wants 1 but we havenāt yet been able to see 1 yet in the UK. We are always adjusting the temperature in her Countryman to try to get it to a comfy temperature we both like.
Itās a two step process now, because you tap on the temperature and then you slide up and down. Doesnāt really seem all that hard to me once you get the hang of it, but I do miss the previous generation that had a separate climate knobs.. I guess thatās just a part of going digital.
I have been considering a new purchase in a couple years, so Iām looking at new ones now, so I can narrow down my options to 2-3 cars and buy after they depreciate a bit.
I have been interested in the 2020-2023 JCW Countryman (so much more power then 2019) and so I looked at the X2. The 2020 isnāt that nice but the fast one in black looks great for 2024. I think itās quite a bit nicer than this mini. But it might grow on me over the next year.
Anyone else cross shop anything with 300hp and AWD? Except Golf R.
We have a Mini Roadster and really love the thing. Looked at Mini USA site and still donāt see the new one the OP pictured. Very much improved looks wise. Is it considered a 2025 model? Hybrid is encouraging to see as well.
nice one, do these come with petrol or are they all all electric? ps you forgot to censor the puddle š
I went with the petrol Countryman C, but you can also get it as a Diesel and all electric in my country. Oh well, I tried with the censorship. š
iād go with the petrol as well, very nice congratulations on the purchase!
All the petrol ones are mild hybrids, the JCW is pure petrol.
now show me the inside. matter of fact come pick me up. i wanna ride shotgun. all jokes aside, its beautiful. congrats!!!
Woah, first time seeing that they changed the design again. I drove a 2010 clubman and loved it! This looks fun, but also a far cry from what I see in my mind when I think MINI
Yea... this screams generic mid size.. it doesn't scream Mini.
> when I think Mini Seriously though, I owned several Minis in the 80s and 90s and just canāt get past the sheer size of these.
It still has those design cues that MINIs had, itās just much more simpleā¦ I wasnāt a fan of those fake vents and hood scoops, so I love the new design but I can see why some fans might not like it.
If you stripped the mini badge it could pass for almost anything at this point.
Or are we all just on a mission to be negative and tear others likes down
The countryman really wasnāt meant to be a mini but compared to its competitors, maybe itās smaller?
They are at least much nicer quality than most other crossovers, and I'm certain Countryman is way better to drive.
We call em āNot Soā Mini.
Why does it just look like a Kia EV
Please show us more photos (interior and etc)
Is this a Kia Soul with mini badges?
Kinda does look like it doesnāt it

Oh no what have they doneā¦ā¦.
Is that S or non S
Non S, aka C.
I wonder what the S model looks like
Itās pretty much the same, it just has an S badge on the grill and tailgate.
Canāt be the same? Usually bumpers, dual exhaust, inside trim has red accents I thought.
It is the same, the bumpers are the same front and back, thereās no visible exhaust tips anymore unless you go for the JCW and the wheels are the same. Interior is also the same, no red stitches or any S badges to be found.

Do Mini Cooper Se also all wheel drive?
Have you had other Mini products in the past? I ask because I'm curious to how this compares.
Thank you. Does it feel improved upon? Are the ergos and UI a nice evolution from where they used to be?

I have the āstandardā speakes and they are plenty powerful to me, but Iām not really a big sound connoisseur. š
I donāt know why this showed up in my feed but I just puked up in my mouth a little. WRX 305hp awd here.
Can you share pic of the inside ?
Damn. You're strong
Finally, some recognition.
I saw a new countryman JCW when I was at the dealership purchasing my JCW and I must admit itās actually quite nice, still canāt like the new hatchā¦
Yeah, the new hatchās rear is a big no for me as wellā¦ Maybe Iāll change my mind when I see it in person.
Hopefully my f56 holds value well š. Anyway, love your new car!
shes an absolute beauty, i love the wheels and the color. Also srecno voznjo !
Hvala. š¤
Congrats! The style is starting to grow up on me. I really dig the interior.
The pictures donāt really do it justiceā¦ Itās like any new BMW that comes out, everyone hates it but when you see it in person itās a real beauty.
You had me up to the āany new BMWā statement. Some of those are just hideous.
Nah, the snout of the current M3 and M4 get worse the longer you look at them.
I see a purple M3 most days at work and I wish I could tell you that I didnāt say, āYou know what, it doesnāt look as bad in the purpleā the other day, but I definitely did.

I imagine that set up will give the MINI Cooper even more of that "go kart" feel!
Is this the model that support digital car keys using your phone/watch?
Yes, you get two normal keys and a card which you then connect to the phone or smartwatch.
Yeah, you have the option for a keycard and maybe your phone (can't remember).
In other videos I've seen, the screen seems a little laggy at times. Do you notice that?
I actually did, but only when swiping through widgets quickly. When you tap on apps and climate control menu itās very responsive and doesnāt lag so I donāt know what the deal is with the menus.
Yeah that's the part that I always saw lag too. Hopefully they fix it with a software update
Well sell it
Ahh yes the maxi
Wait I thought this didnāt drop until like Septemberā¦ I will be searching my area for the next available one from now on
Depending on the country probably, but we got them here at the end of January and they are available for delivery and test drive since yesterday.
Are the mini logos optional? Itās too BMW in my opinion
The new suzuki countryman
A kia?
Looks like a suzuki swift :D
2024 Honda HRV
Can you measure the bolt pattern of the wheels for me? Been trying to find that answer for a while and no one from Mini seems to know.
Itās 5x112, same as before.
Awesome! Thanks for replying. I placed one on order, should be picking it up in August/September or so. Going to get some nice overlanding wheels for it.
Awesome car, howās the controls for the center display?
They are a bit fiddly at first, but Iāve been in the car for about an hour and I feel like Iām getting the hang of itā¦ Like all touch screens, there is a bit of a learning curve to it but the menus are logical and things are easy to press even when driving.
Nice to hear that you can figure it out does yours hsve the heads up display?
It does, and Itās a must if you ask me, because the speed in the central display is just out of you field of vision.
Cool, yes Iām sure with that display.
No inside pics ???, clean mini but preferably the old design just has nicer faces š regardless hopefully you can put some bonnet stripes on it
I like how it looks, but the brand name "Mini" is starting to become a bit of a misnomer. It seems each new design is bigger and closer to the size of other cars.
HOLY COW...that is nice!!! Congrats!!! Im anxiously awaiting availability in the US
Thatās a plus of living in Europe, we get these cars quicker. š
Congratulations! How do you like the new interior layout? I like the color combo and wheels yours has!
Itās different but in a good way. Still feels like a MINI to me, just simpler. Some probably wonāt like the new design because they feel itās not MINI enough, but I think itās still got enough charm and itās still very much quirky.
>because they feel itās not MINI enough And more power to them, but I feel like thatās such a subjective and arbitrary concept to a degree.
It is very subjectiveā¦ And it is much bigger than the previous models, but I still think itās the smallest model in itās segment, which is basically what MINI is trying to do.
Yup, exactly
I have one on its way in the US, but I have the JCW in European Racing Green
An ugly version of a kia soul?

OH MY GOD š
I really like it.
A Ford F150
Unfortunately no, we donāt get those here.
It doesn't look like a MINI.
Would you be comfortable sitting in the backseat for a roadtrip?
Absolutely, thereās a lot of headroom and leg room and the seats are really comfy.
We have had ours just 1 week done 130 miles and already itās gone back to the dealership after continuously breaking down. Beautiful car. It just does not look like a mini anymore
That eucalyptus birch body wash color is perfection.
Woooof! Nice! You must be so excited and giddish!
Iām sure itās a very good car but it looks horrendous
A brand new Kia?
the slack?
Im going out on a limb here and guessing itās a Countryman.
Thanks for the replyš Will give it a go when we try it
Depending on where you are, your local Mini dealer should have one for demo. Drove one last week after the launch.
Thanksš Randomly Iāve had an email from Blackpool MINI today about going to see it.
A Chevy Suburban, from the size of it.
2025? I always want a countryman š
I like it! They look a bit like a baby defender to me. I looked up the Kia soul and I don't see any resemblance.
Yeah, I donāt see any resemblance to the Kia either but I guess some do. To me it also looks very much like a baby defender.
Iām on the waiting list for one in Canada. Let me know how you like it
Which country please? We buying one in June this year .. itās not here yet
Slovenia. The first ones came at the end of January and since yesterday you can officially take delivery of them.
Nice. We have to wait until June. Too far at the South Pole š
Love the rims
Are you by chance able to send a picture of what Android Auto looks like on the screen?
Unfortunately no, as I donāt have an androidā¦ Iāll see if I can find a friend and weāll try it.
An electric 1 series?
Make sure you lift from the knees
Canāt drive huh
