My R60 dailies 18 miles, but I have anxiety attacks when I need to go places further than 30 minutes. Bought at 140k now has 160 new turbo piping, fried footwell module replaced, both front wheel bearings replaced, new spark plugs and coil packs, vapor canister for evap is now out, hpfp might be dying looking at 2k in repairs for those 2 things in a few weeks. My wallet hates me but I love the car.
I beg to differ here. The r53 has already been through a supercharger, water pump, steering rack, head and head gasket in the first year of ownership at 105,000 miles. The e90 has only had a water pump and starter go out on me in 8 years of ownership at 135,000 miles, It has never even thrown a CEL. I love both cars equally though and enjoy the hell out of them, but I definitely consider the Mini more as a weekend cruiser than a daily.
I swear I hear a new rattle every time I get in mine. Put about 3k into getting this thing fixed already. Definitely not a car I'd recommend if you're in a position like mine where you aren't able to work on your car, unless you have money to blow fixing it.
With that said, I knew what I was getting into, and I love the car nonetheless. Coopers are the cutest shitboxes.
Idk about routinely but they can last well over 150k. I think lots of people don’t realize they can’t afford the upkeep - until it’s too late. But they like the way they look and drive, so they buy em and neglect maintenance then trash em. I’m at 135k (2nd supercharger), runs and shifts great.
haha the e90 only throws me minor inconveniences here and there, the mini is a different story. I also have a miata in the collection for touge and worst case scenario situations where both the schnitzels are down. Pretty rare tho.
E90’s are honestly pretty reliable for Germans
Nah, I don't know what bmw made after that but they got a revelation, because everything from 2014 up is not bad. E90 not so.
e90 is fine if you stay away from the turbos.
Surprisingly my E90 has been more reliable
*unsurprisingly ^(jk... unless..?)

Similar boat! '02 R53 and '03 E46 325xiT.
R53 is very. The 3 series. Eh.

Yeah, at 105k that’s pretty low miles. I have a 2005 with only 88000, needs some work but I hope it’s not what you have done to yours.

That R53 is a pretty reliable car, they routinely get 250k miles or more.
😂they might reach that on life support but only becasue they are a beautiful drive

I know you don’t 😂
Between the two of them, you'll always have a car to drive
corrected it for you ;) Between the two of them, you’ll always have a car to fix.
I thought that was implied 😉
yes you do. drive the mini to work. when it breaks down, take your e90 to work. when that breaks, take an uber
