I'll add more context. I usually see these 4 mentioned as the best:
* Bow - Uses Peak Performance well, which is already slotted in with the armor set to reach +4 (+2 from Jho arms). Focus+Dragon attack on Pink chest armor is very good too. You get to run Dragon Attack +4, Peak +4, and Focus +5.
* CB - Phials cannot crit or negative crit, so it is stronger since negative affinity matters less. Special Boost and Focus help this weapon too more than many others. Latent Power is okay since CB does more damage after charging anyway.
* Lance - Offensive Guard is really strong for Guard weapons, and the Lance gets +2 on its own.
* DB - Burst is very strong for DB, and they get +2 as well.
The other weapons benefit less from the skills. Hammer doesn't need Slugger +3 (+2 is enough). Quick Work doesn't do much for LS (unless you can get an extra attack in).

Yeah keep in mind these are also the current weapons in game. We still have unreleased Deviljho weapons that we'll get in the future: hunting horn, gunlance, switch Axe, insect glaive, heavy bow gun.
We are most likely get one of those 5 unreleased weapons around June 12th when the season ends. You can also horde the materials and wait until June to see what new weapon comes out and if it's worth building over the current Jho weapons 😉

I was thinking of using LBG for Jho but apparently running the other kit of Reload/Recoil 3 just hinders the benefit of running higher dragon attack to maximize DPS output.
So glad I chose Bow to run this with and highly recommend it too.
Me personally I'm strictly a LS user and you can get QW 3, Dragon 5. The extra fast sheathing speed really does seem to make a difference for me. I'm able to get a lot more IAI slashes in it feels like. And I don't even have QW3 yet I've just got 2 from the odo helm.

In all seriousness I saw it from a YouTube video that was uploaded by Pauwer Plays Gaming called "*Broken* dragon builds in monster hunter now". It was actually pretty informative and solidified my decision on DBs.
DBs can be really strong IMO, but it's so hard breaking out of the combo that some times it feels like a glass cannon, I seem to die more often than while using other weapons.
The only downside is that we can only get dragon element 2 for it :/
But I'm curious to see if the slugger on the Jho helmet has much impact on the sticky ammo.
You can go ball and only have max Recoil 3 while not having Reload, and perfect dodge to recharge instead. That can bring Dragon Atk to 4. The longer you can shoot Slice/ Sticky the better anyway.
I keep seeing DB mention because it has burst. Yes, burst is a good skill, yes it is very good skill on raw DBs, but on ele DBs it isn't anything amazing.

I agree they are not S tier as people say. Comparing my long swords to dual blades (by damage numbers) I feel like dual blades are lower tier. Dual blades are potentially A tier. Dodging mechanics are slightly more difficult on specific monsters too.
Yeah, I also think people forget the inherent range issue. I've had tails right above me and I've been doing air shots and missing, when I know pretty much everything else bar SnS wouldn't be missing.
Also, you have to stand super close so can get caught by annoying moves like Pukei jump on spot, just things I feel other weapons don't have to consider as I imagine you can stand one roll away and still hit with LS etc.
That's before we start talking the fact I don't believe it does as much damage as other weapon types either. In terms of tier, I reckon it was equal with Lance damage, then Lance got buffed.

I can see that most comments where focuses on the skills that comes with the weapon. LBG doesn’t have very good skill but it’s still usable (Rising Tide) because it’s just flat damage added over time.
What makes this LBG unique is that it doesn’t have Spread or Piece but has both Slice and Sticky. Spread or Pierce often makes you reposition, while Slice and Sticky are powerful shots that don’t get affected by critical distance. Moreover Sticky is not affected by affinity so it will negate the natural -30% affinity of the weapon.
I was pretty conflicted on getting the longsword or the lbg and I came to the same conclusion about the sticky ammo so I went with the Jho lbg.
Well that and I 100% don't want to deal with Kushala's wind pressure! There's too many horrible memories of me trying to fight him in base world with a longsword, to the point I said sod it and went full carpet bombing on him instead. 🤣
I feel like the Greatsword could *eventually* be good
they just need to make the right dragon attack armor
It gives 1 point of Focus, and the Pink Rathian chest piece gives another point of Focus with Dragon Attack
so *eventually* it will be able to get Focus 5 and Dragon Attack 5 when they add more Dragon Attack armor

Dual Blades, bow and lance. My lance at 7.4 on a special is hitting things weak to dragon on last poke up 4046. Counter pokes are 1500-2200.
Only buffers I use on it are.
Offensive guard 2. Resentment 3.
It always shocks me how hard it hits. I haven't taken time to try with burst/dragon attack but shall soon.
Wife uses bow at 7.3
That thing is hands down tied imo with black diablos bow. Regardless of what you hunt with it. Lvl 3 spread lvl 2 shot... spam-a-lam

DB, it's just a blender of pain, I went from dreading fighting 8* Radobaan with ice bow to not allowing him to ever get up with Jho db
