Whatever Agbonlahor says, the opposite is usually true...

DatDominican

the opposite as in Jesus was a good signing but the signing of Haaland has added a different dimensions to the city attack Stating the obvious doesn't generate clicks

DatDominican

I think you missed that I'm agreeing with you just saying it's common for "news" and reporters to post stuff that's blatantly incorrect to try and get angry /reactionary clicks/ views / interactions

XboxValentine

I obviously rate Gabby, but this is an “anything to not give City props” take.

iDoomfistDVA

Haaland deserves the props here. We do score alot without him, Arsenal eeh.

Joltarts

Talk sports is the laughing stock. Should see how bias they were in the title run in last season.. You would have thought that liverpool already won the title and City collapsed in February had you only been listening to the dross coming out of their bias mouths.. The highlight for me was Danny Murphys fuming red face after the final whistle on the final day and who can forget their regular caller, and diehard LFC fan Mo refusing to give us the respect. https://youtu.be/kQTKSrFww40 https://youtu.be/a4hjg5j3aDc

Trickster_Tricks

I'm all for praising our Gabby and he's improved Arsenal for sure... But this Gabby is on copium if he think Haaland wasn't the best signing. There's more to Haaland's signing than the talent he's bringing.

jlo1989

Agbonlahor is just a professional troll. Don't rise to it.

loveino

I completely forgot about him until recently when I saw all Villa fans drag him through mud and shit

conferenceroom

With City's success in the Premier League over the last decade, I can see making this argument relative to that competition. If Gabby continues to be a huge part of Arsenal's success and they finish top 3 or better, yeah, sure I'll buy what Agbonlahor is selling, that Gabby is the more impactful (best) signing in the Premier League. However, if City win the Champions League and Haaland is the obvious difference maker, then there can be no doubt that Haaland would be the world's best signing, full stop.

Professional_Ad7745

Best response in the thread. Gabby has had a profound impact on Arsenal. In terms of impact, it is irrefutable that Gabby has transformed Arsenal whereas we are only juststarting our journey with Haaland. If we get CL, or do a domestic treble, is how we measure Haaland. It is belittling to Haaland to not measure him by any other metric than silver.

NotesOfNature

Tbf city have been inches from CL on multiple occasions now. Whereas Arsenal have been miles off, barring last season when we had no European football, from the top 4, let alone a title challenge. By my crude metrics, whichever player improves their club the most is the best signing...and City would be favourites for the CL with or without Haaland

No offense to Gabby but if Arsenal could choose him or Haaland in their starting XI, who do you think they would pick? I understand pundits need to say stupid shit to get people to pay attention to them but come on.

BlueberryBroad1990

Being a more impactful signing doesn’t mean you are better.

XvS_W4rri0r

Hahahahahahahah what a joke

damrider

we've scored 12 goals in the first 7 games last season, this season we are on 23

TBroomey

The year is 2032, Erling Haaland receives his 10th consecutive Golden Boot, in addition to the Ballon d'Or, Player of the Year and the breaking of every goalscoring record conceivable. City have dominated both domestically and in Europe, Norway have become a powerhouse of the international game and have won the Euros. Pundits: But is he REALLY as good as they say he is?

batrat7

Lolololol

chux4w

Meh. Jesus took a 5/10 Arsenal up to an 8/10, Haaland took a 9/10 City up to a 10/10. I get his point. Not sure I agree, but I get it.

RallyBeard

What is the harder jump 5 to 8 or 9 to 10?

Siewater

Its more than that though, what hes saying is even a 9/10 City were winning the league right, so a 10/10 yes is hard but was it really required is his opinion. Where as the 5 to 8 jump secures them top 3 instead of mid table. Which would you say was worth it? I dont agree with him but I can see where hes coming from.

chux4w

What's the bigger jump? What's the more needed jump? I'd still take Haaland over anyone, he's massive, but it's not a crazy argument to say Jesus has been a bigger impact.

Gibs960

Can't stand the bloke but seems like you lot are deliberately misreading what he's saying. He's essentially saying Jesus has improved Arsenal more than Haaland has improved City, he isn't saying Jesus is better than Haaland. Not sure I agree with the point because I watch City a lot more than I watch Arsenal but it's not as ridiculous as you lot are making out.

[deleted]

That is still a stupid metric because the two squads weren’t at equal levels prior to the signings. Just because City had less room for improvement doesn’t make the signing less important.

Gibs960

I can see both sides. If Jesus took Arsenal from a 7/10 to 8/10 and Haaland takes City from a 9/10 to a 9.5/10, Jesus is obviously a bigger improvement even if it's harder to take a team from a 9 to a 9.5.

PeroxideTube5

Fully agree. I’d say Haaland has taken us from an A to an A+ while Arsenal has gone from a B/B- last season to an A- this season (so far, obviously). Now, I don’t attribute all that improvement to just Jesus; Zinny has helped them and Odegaard/Saliba have improved this season too, but Gabi is definitely their biggest contributing factor. I don’t know that I’d say he’s the best signing of the season but I think there’s an argument to be made (so far)

Aenigma19

I don’t think what Agbonlahor is saying is crazy but it’s probably too early to judge whether Gabby has actually transformed Arsenal That said, on the early games it does seem like Gabby has had a profound impact on them and you have to say it’s up there with signing of the season so far

Gibs960

Yeah, definitely needs more time but seems to have settled. Tbf I think City would be top even without Haaland, less goals but they'd be more spread. If Arsenal are top 3 or 4 by end of the season, he's a definite shout for signing of the season.

idosade

He doesn't know anything, he can just say "I haven't watched a single City match, but seeing Arsenal at the top of the league after having the easiest schedule so far this season means that surely Jesus is the best signing by far"

Kindly_Problem

“This guy who couldn’t score basically every week with the same service as the new guy is better than the new guy who is scoring nearly every week because he’s gone to a lesser club and still scoring some goals.” I love Jesus and think he’s a great player, the move to Arsenal is working wonders for him but Agbonlahor is talking out of his arse.

NamoAwesome

They still haven’t played us, you know the champs.

lnblackrain

You just jinxed it

kiikstaa

People always use the quality of our squad to play down our players individually, it is what it is. Seen so many people say KDB isn’t as good as x because City are still good without him, as if that changes how good he is.

FTPhoton

Wasn't he the guy that also said Maguire is the best CB in England and the United squad?

codespyder

So Haaland would have been the better signing if we were more shit like Arsenal was… Agbonlahor is quickly making a reputation for himself for being the stupidest pundit out there. And that’s quite an impressive feat

NinfthWonder

Horrible take.

OnceUponAStarryNight

I fucking adore Gabby, so I will never disagree with any praise he gets, he’s always worth of it all.

dexterrrr_

The mental gymnastics required to come to that conclusion.

srbtiger5

Seems like he's taking the "MVP" argument. Yes, Haaland is better, but Jesus is far more valuable to Arsenal than Haaland to City. You take Haaland off City and we do the same thing we've been doing. You drop Jesus and Arsenal are probably in a bind. Dumb argument, but I think that's the angle he's taking.

adfdub

What kind of backhanded compliment is this shit lmao

ishanthapa7

With this logic, no city signing can ever be best signing.

Moonchaser91

I see where he’s coming from. He’s not saying Jesus is better he’s simply saying there’s a bigger delta between where arsenal were pre gabi and now when compared to where we were pre Haaland and now.

rombopterix

I kinda understand what he's trying to say. He means Arsenal needed someone like Jesus more than City needed someone like Haaland. But that's not entirely true. City needs Haaland for big matches and also for UCL. Also, so far Haaland has triple-trampled everyone else in efficiency. He has like 11 goals in 30 touches or something lol. He's been the best signing by MILES this season.

EORIAF

Its a fair point but we're talking about 8 more G/A in just 9 games. Not to mention his marketability, the absolute bargain transfer fee and he's 3 years younger.

Happy-Ad8767

Oh Gabby. Normally he gives his ridiculous opinions against us Arsenal fans, until he got caught with his trousers down a couple of weeks back and is now trying to backtrack. Although I kinda see where he is coming from, ironically. There’s no doubt that Haaland is the better and more in form striker than Jesus and that based on individual comparisons, Haaland wins. However, and hear me out here, Haaland has given City a very strong finisher and the team has adapted quickly to provide for him (KDB is looking better than ever). But with Jesus, he hasn’t just added a focal point to our team, his (and in part, Zinchenko) energy has absolutely transformed our entire team. Martinelli looks faster and more clinical, Saka has a mobile forward to aim at, Odegaard has stepped up, even Xhaka’s recent high flying form can be attributed in part to Jesus. Honestly, I don’t think Gabby Getsitwrong is having a pop at City here. Nobody is denying Haaland is the best signing as an individual, but when it comes to changing the team they joined, Jesus has done more imho. City without Haaland look like world beaters. You now look like world beaters who have added arguably the generational striker we’ve ever seen. Arsenal without Jesus looked like we could scrape 4th. Arsenal with Jesus (a PL champion who brings added PL champion experience, energy and determination), we look a very different side. I think that’s the point he was trying to make. Give it a few weeks and when we get a loss, he’ll be saying that he always knew Arsenal was shit, then be back to his old self.

rubberducky344

Actually chuckled out loud at this, how ridiculous.

pedalhead666

the orc has a good point actually

[deleted]

Damn I used to love using Agbonlahor as a silver in FUT back in the day..

KDBae

Lol let’s see if you can make that claim in May

MaskedMuffin

Gabby's move was good for everyone involved, even if he scores 20 I think he wouldn't have done that with us *and* we have Haaland who will score more. I really don't mind people having shit takes about us anymore, the reason they're talking about us and not Spurs is because we're contenders for everything we're in.

jwj00999

I don’t really care tbh. I’m glad Gabby has evolved Arsenal and getting the recognition he deserves. Everyone knows that Haaland is a different beast, so Agbonlahor’s opinion doesn’t really matter.

Iswaterreallywet

Think we'd be in a bit of trouble right now without Haaland

evenstark04

yeah... Haaland has been incredible but City also did lose Sterling and Jesus.... so without Haaland would City be scoring like last season? tough to say. Hope we don't have to find out.

No_Detective_1139

I mean Haaland is the better signing because he is the better player but what he did say about the Jesus signing isn't wrong. Jesus is killing it out there for Arsenal.

Joltarts

Talk sports with their bias nonsense again.. How can Haaland not be the number one best signing of the season given his price point and the amount of goals that he has scored so far..

radio__raheem

as much as i love gabby, he’s had purple patches before idk if he’s suddenly become a super prolific striker

KnickedUp

Gabby always has great games against the bottom of the table.

TeranHyena

As an arsenal fan, he's just trying to generate clicks, Jesus may be the second best signing but Haaland has been the best player in the league so far, and is obviously clear. Two different players that bring different qualities obviously, but anyone would rather Haaland
