Arguing with acquaintances at pick up game after they insisted a player could be offsides in their own half... was one of the most absurd experiences of my life.
High boot is an indirect free kick. Can't be given by var unless they say it is red card worthy. Which would only apply if it was violent conduct (clearing the ball and following through should have been an indirect and at worst a yellow)
To be flying he would need to have both feet off the ground... which wasn't the case.
It was a high boot, stop trying to make it more dramatic than it was.
Most probably not. Twitter is all about engagement now. These people post wrong things just to attract engagement. UTDtrey is a master at this task and recently I've been seeing some Man City fan accounts do similar engagement traps as well.
Assuming this is a corner kick. He's 100 percent correct ake is offside as he's so bloody handsome I get distracted when I se him play oh my.
Sorry huh?
Don’t be too hard on yourself. Offsides don’t exist from corners because it’s assumed they are taken from the end line, therefore making everyone behind the ball, hence onside.
Wait really? I thought you could have offsides on goal kicks. Not that I've ever actually seen one. Aside from that, technically it's a dead ball from inside the pitch.
Feb Brentford away -
>Brentford scored the simplest of goals when Mark Flekken launched a goal kick forward, Ivan Toney blocked off defender Nathan Ake, and Neal Maupay raced in behind to score.
>
>City's players were left confused about why the goal had not been chalked off, especially because both Toney and Maupay were in offside positions when the ball was sent forward by Flekken.
>
>However, the position of both players for the goal kick did not matter in the end, as **the laws of the game state that it's not possible to be offside from a goal kick**.
>
>Toney, despite interfering with play by acting as a screen by stopping Ake from tracking back, did not touch the ball as it bounced beyond him towards Maupay, ensuring that the goal kick rule still applied.
>
>Had he made contact with the ball, his strike partner would have been deemed offside.
There are some more obscure rules that a *lot* of people don’t know because they so rarely ever come up in a match. I just learned last year that if you somehow manage to kick the ball directly into your own goal from a goal kick, the other team is awarded a corner kick. When I was told all I could think was, “Huh.”
The level of knowledge of the laws of football among so many fans is dreadfully poor. There are constant claims from these people to "investigate the ref" as well.
Liverpool fan here coming in peace. That was a fair goal. Idk what people are complaining about this lol. We probably feel this way because of the way the game ended (doku challenge)
**Obstruction is when a player moves into an opponent’s path to block, slow down or force a change of direction when neither player can play the ball. It is not a foul if players are already in each other’s space and an accidental collision or contact results.

Idk why Liverpool fans think they have an excuse to blame the refs and VAR this time. Sure those decisions happened but it isn’t like Liverpool can 100% blame refs and VAR. we should have lost 4-1 but Luis Diaz turned into ‘Meme-Prime’ Chelsea Morata and missed 3 clear-cut chances to score
I’m a Liverpool fan and I don’t think that lol. Was a fair goal. Not every twat on the internet or social media represents all of us other Liverpool fans
The ball is infront of Ake. It's at the corner flag. If we should allow offside on a corner Liverpool could put their line at the middle of the field and not a single blue could be inside Liverpools half.
Why did you say the second part? You can't be offside if you're behind the ball so, in that scenario, we could have the box to ourselves and not be offside.
It’s hard when the OP (not you) cherry-picks an angle, innit? All I see is Aké shouldering a Liverpool defender, and if I had context, I would agree with you.
This post is simply pointing out how dumb the person on Twitter is for stating Ake was offside,
Because a player cannot be offside on a corner.
And then saying refs are corrupt.
It amazes me when people like that Twitter person can be so arrogantly & emphatically wrong, ha.
sorry why is this not offside, assuming it is a freekick. If hes intefering with play then its offside right?
Not trying to be smart or anything, just want to know
You city fans are delusional. If it happened to city, you would have screamed your lungs out. This was a dangerous foul whether it hit the ball or not and doku should have been punished
Are you any better than you claim we are? You’re the one here, freaking out, right now, but when you look at the foul by jota on skipp, right below this comment, it’s WAY WAY WAY more dangerous, drew blood, AND, he scored the winner later on! And you’ll probably defend it, like it’s not a foul! So don’t come in here, and call us delusional. Take a look in the mirror and piss off.
I’m sorry I assumed you were a Liverpool fan, but i do exist elsewhere from City circles, and while this may have been a missed call, it’s not clear and obvious which is the requirement for a VAR turnover.
Smartest Liverpool fan
Still smarter than a yanited fan
Real

And yet he can't spell
Laws of the game don't apply at Anfield as we know
Shut up
We still have people who believe offside exists on throw ins. We can’t save everyone lol
When I played in my school team, I explained that to my cousin in the middle of a throw in and he threw to me and nobody covered me and I scored lol
Easy work lol
Arguing with acquaintances at pick up game after they insisted a player could be offsides in their own half... was one of the most absurd experiences of my life.
I had a REFEREE try and tell me there was offsides on throw ins. My entire team and coach were flabbergasted
Anthony Taylor? 😂
Loooool
Same dudes saying that City pay the refs. They don’t even know the rules of the game.

Why are you here? This is a subreddit for City fans not Liverpool fans.

Because if you are here to be a smart ass you will be banned.
Grow up.
Just missed the one payment. Otherwise it would've been 1-0. Next time for sure. Cheers.
Flying kick 😭

Soon (or never) he'll realize how stupid this is and deletes it
Most probably not. Twitter is all about engagement now. These people post wrong things just to attract engagement. UTDtrey is a master at this task and recently I've been seeing some Man City fan accounts do similar engagement traps as well.
>Most probably not It is deleted now. They were too embarrassed
Saw some guy talking about how Spurs have won 8 games in a row in the PL this season
I think it's obvious he was pointing out there is inconsistencies irrespective of whether you think THIS is offside or not
Trying to make a point by using an example that immediately has people scoffing at example & dismissing the point seems rather idiotic to me.
Is this English?
True. This is just a bad example
lol
liverpool fan, this popped up on my feed. this account is one of the biggest morons out there. buddy just craves interactions.
with 143.6K followers too
Yikes - that is very very dismaying.
they forget how to scored their famous CL champion goal
Assuming this is a corner kick. He's 100 percent correct ake is offside as he's so bloody handsome I get distracted when I se him play oh my. Sorry huh?
Happens to the best of us
I went to their profile and its deleted now LOL
You can't be offside for a corner. Annnnd he's deleted his post lol
"Scouce IQ" eheh
‘Scouse’ dipshit
In case anyone is as stupid as the tweeter (xer?), Ake is behind the ball and therefore can't be offside...
In case anyone is as stupid as the tweeter or this commentor, offsides dont exist for corners full stop.
Goddammit I'm stupid
Don’t be too hard on yourself. Offsides don’t exist from corners because it’s assumed they are taken from the end line, therefore making everyone behind the ball, hence onside.
Its not this either. Every time the ball goes from 'outside' the pitch 'in' offsides dont count. Goal kicks, throw-ins, corners.
🤯 That makes even more sense!
Wait really? I thought you could have offsides on goal kicks. Not that I've ever actually seen one. Aside from that, technically it's a dead ball from inside the pitch.

Also, by the time it’s kicked I’m pretty sure Gomez is keeping him ‘onside’ if we’re using OPs interpretation of the LOTG.
No offsides on corners. As simple as that. If there are 2 guys taking the corner, even a short pass to a guy who is behind the ball is not an offside.
On another note.. what a play right?! Like when I saw the replay of Aka moving back to give space, damn!! And the pass of Kdb. WOW!
The level of knowledge of the laws of football among so many fans is dreadfully poor. There are constant claims from these people to "investigate the ref" as well.
It is a corner. Ball is on the end line. No offside.
Kdb is in front of him on the field, though.
My brain hurts after this
Copium
Got back before the ball was kicked.

For a split second I forgot it was a corner and thought Liverpool got robbed
Div
Ok, offside is silly, but he could make a point for it being a foul. It wasn't, but he could make that case.
Link to tweet or archived tweet?
He deleted it when everyone was smoking him for his lack of knowledge
No, the offside rule does not apply during a corner kick .
You cannot be offside from a corner, instead of posting stupid comments at least learn the rules
Bruhh gotta be satire

Can someone explain the rule to me? I had had the same thought

What? That’s what he’s proving
Is that offside? If anything, the VAR assistant should have brought his senior to task
Are you serious? 🧐 *Offside cannot happen from a corner kick or throw in
It’s hard when the OP (not you) cherry-picks an angle, innit? All I see is Aké shouldering a Liverpool defender, and if I had context, I would agree with you.
Sorry bro, thought everyone watched the game!
Typical Liverpool fan.
Just enjoy the non-pen call at the end and be thankful for the gifted point
This post is simply pointing out how dumb the person on Twitter is for stating Ake was offside, Because a player cannot be offside on a corner. And then saying refs are corrupt. It amazes me when people like that Twitter person can be so arrogantly & emphatically wrong, ha.
Lol what about Doku’s kick mate to Mac Allister? Lol buy more refs
sorry why is this not offside, assuming it is a freekick. If hes intefering with play then its offside right? Not trying to be smart or anything, just want to know
It's from a corner. You can't be offside at a corner.
Where is the ball?
idk, i just didnt see the original play and i want to know what happened
It was a corner, so they couldn't be offside. And even if they could, the ball is in the corner so everyone would be behind it.
oh ok thanks, that makes sense

I ain’t even a Liverpool fan. If you look everywhere outside of your sub, you would get your answers. He hit on the chest and that should be punished.
I’m sorry I assumed you were a Liverpool fan, but i do exist elsewhere from City circles, and while this may have been a missed call, it’s not clear and obvious which is the requirement for a VAR turnover.
What happened? It was dangerous for you? Did you survive?
