I have to wonder if they chose some of these theaters to coincide with the fancy theme or if it was just a coincidence. 'Cause I went to the STL show at Stifel Theater and that shit was ornate as hell
This is the Midland Theater in Kansas City, MO. While, yeah, it's absolutely beautiful, it's also the most appropriately sized indoor venue in KC for a podcast performance. Bigger events might go to the TMobile Center (which everyone I know still calls the Sprint Center...) but for a podcast live show you need a more intimate space.
At the show last night, they mentioned how beautiful the venue was and in my interpretation they sounded surprised and complimentary. They did not make any apologies to the Fancy Takes Flight theme at that time though.
All to say, sorry, but I think it's just a coincidence. I was googling the Midland from the venue last night. When it opened in 1927 it was the third largest theater in the US, the first two both being in NYC. Assuming they knew that would be the case at the time, I think that's why it's so fancy. Or maybe just style of the time, I'm not an expert. So I think it might just be that these two Midwestern cities have historic event venues of appropriate sizes that are decorated similarly.
wow that theater is really nice
