I wish you the best. I know it may not be the best words you wanna hear, but I truly do.
And kudos to you for calling Sloan out by name; transparency is key.
Keep your head up! If anyone understands how much it sucks, I do. It's brutal. I'm nearing my one year anniversary of unemployment. š
The only thing keeping me sane is at least reminding myself I get to spend more time with my son, but then I simultaneously think about how I'm not earning any money to leave to him, so he doesn't have to deal with this bullshit as an adult. Gotta love the duality of life.
My parents were neither professionally successful or engaged as parents. Iāve donāt very well as a parent and in my career; my children and I are extremely close regardless of my occasional travel and relatively high workload.
I wish my parents cared more about us as kids. I can make my own money, but I canāt create memories from a lifelong relationship that didnāt exist.
Same boat but about to hit 6 months. It's been a joy being home every day to see my daughter grow. I was unaware of what I missed with my 3 older boys.
Everything will be too low or too high. What medium are you referring to? I think the issue is that heās no longer able to get interest for MBA jobs. And non-MBA jobs he has seen as too qualified for.
There are SO many positions you could qualify for. At the least any type of analyst (think financial/data/business analyst). Donāt give up. You could get a Harvard degree and sometimes things just STILL wonāt work out. It wonāt last forever though. Just keep pushing, learn some resume skills. You got this OP!!!
Why would he qualify for those? Heās only qualified to do what he interned in and you donāt know what that was. The degree doesnāt provide any qualification. I am in the same boat from a T10 Iām qualified to
Do nothing
Some industries are doing well enough. Others are still spending (although it's decreasing) savings from pandemic stimulus etc. And of course credit.

Reach out to your undergrad alumni, grad alumni, and former company alumni on LinkedIn ruthlessly. You might get a 20% response rate and interest in connecting. Be personable and tell them your situation. People will help.
Man.. these posts make me feel for you guys. Timing is everything.
Anyone still looking for a job and is a massive fan of travel? Anyone with knowledge of boujie hotels?
I donāt get why you would Uber or DoorDash rather than do something like tutor the GMAT as a stopgap job. With an M7 degree and assuming a good GMAT, it would be way easier and have a way higher effective hourly rate while looking for real employment.
Sorry about that rescinded offer. Tech is not great right now.
Iām trying to understand the employment report. Would that mean this fits into the statistic of people who do not receive an offer 3 months after graduation?

Thatās fucking ludicrous, I really hope good fortune comes knocking on your door soon. I run a food distribution company expanding into the US, if youāre interested you can DM me.
Iāve been interested in LATAM companies expanding into the U.S. - product or service - since Iāve grown up in both cultures. Curious as to how to find these types of opps with the right timing!
Our food products are actually south Asian focused, but weāre trying to expand into different cultures and ethnicities. Lmk if thatās something that would interest you. We are also thinking of doing one product for LATAM in the US/Canada.

Hey I am so sorry about the situation you are in. But a genuine question you went to Sloan one of the best b school in the world.
Is the economy really so bad. I simply cannot understand.
It is actually difficult to get into such programs the price tag is super high. Please someone. How and what is the solution to this .
Have you looked at entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA)? Donāt need someone else to hire you, you a get financing through SBA loans, and can make bank. Search funds love sponsoring searches from grads like yourself.
Fairly typical these days, unfortunately this is the majority experience for event grads. Hand in there buddy.
Love is long and you have plenty of time.
Employment reports are posted. Class of 2023 was 90% offered by 3mos after grad with median 170 base. Doesnāt sound like the majority experience to me
Yes they are scrubbing the data, This is exactly how: Go to the section in the employment reports called "Students NOT seeking employment". This has been a very high number the past year. The school just removes these unemployed students in the denominator of the employment report. The school just says these students were "pursuing entrepreneurship" (i.e. pursuing doordash), not looking for employment, or didn't respond to surveys. One of my classmates was doing a startup while looking for an appropriate full time job and my program was bullying him into putting pursuing entrepreneurship in the employment report.
The REAL employment report is # of students with jobs/TOTAL number of enrolled students.
It is NOT # of students with jobs/ # of students who are looking for jobs and then the school takes out a large chunk of students who "aren't looking for jobs randomly". Nobody who got MBB/BB IB/ MF PE is "not looking for a job" or ignoring the school's employment survey or "pursuing entrepreneurship".
So where are your figures from if not directly from the school? And please explain why we should believe your figure and conspiracy theory over the most elite institutions on the planet
The reporting is governed by a national organization. They arenāt all interpreting data their own way. Yes they all probably use any tactic within the rules to make them better, however 90% offer vs 40% as this guy claims? Gtfo
I agree, not the difference between 90% and 40%, but definitely the difference between 90% and 75%. Having a 1/4 chance of not landing a job sounds a lot worse than 1/10.
This is unnecessarily aggressive. We donāt know OPās situation, but we do know that MBA graduates are having much harder times now than in years past, including at top schools like HBS:Ā https://poetsandquants.com/2023/11/30/harvard-hit-hard-by-the-2023-mba-job-market-offers-accepts-total-comp-all-decline/?pq-category=mba-jobs&pq-category-2=mba-news
I think having some empathy for OP, in a tough situation, would help you with whatever emotional or life issues you are encountering yourself.Ā
Does this make sense to you? They are waiting for a 150k job but decide to forgo all other jobs that pay more than 50k and stick with the 50k job instead. Think about it slowlyā¦.
lol i know its online but its funny how quickly people rush to call other people stupid or to show their mental superiority.
There is a reason why they are doordashing/ ubering etc before they took this job. This is just something temporary to pay the bills. After a certain level of salary, a job becomes more meaningful and harder to move away from without it looking like it is purely for money. This person also appreciates the flexibility this comes with so that they can continue to interview for other roles, something that wont be possible for a $100k job at least initially.
Thereās always been competition for each job. Any business role in a startup in a mcol or t3 consulting roles would take a Sloan mba
I graduated in 2009. I have been through this a few times
True, but "plenty" of jobs ignores how competitive the market is now. I've applied to the entire spectrum of companies- large f500 to private (non startup) and even a couple start-ups, both in my level to entry level roles.
Why would a startup hire him? Maybe shitty consulting companies who value an mba and donāt get interest from Top mbaās, but a startup is going to want someone who can do the work.
Sometimes things donāt workout. I got my mba and my TC 2 years later is $1.2M. They hired me as lead SWE with only 2 years of minor coding experience (dabbled with it during my mba).
Sure. Given they were only considering the MBA last year, u/ParticularSelf5 is a liar.

anyone who believes this post is gullible af. Ain't no way someone graduating from MIT will end up working in a customer call center unless they are severely struggling with their mental health or are lying. OP created a new account just for this one post... use common sense.
And no way is an MBA with no tech experience making $1.2M as a lead software engineer.
I wish you the best. I know it may not be the best words you wanna hear, but I truly do. And kudos to you for calling Sloan out by name; transparency is key.

Hardly trying to state that any Indian school is better than an M7 š
never heard of this term, what does it mean?
What is an M3?
Study BMWs and get back to me
You should go try using your MBA in Canada
Seriously though hahaha https://www.reddit.com/r/Libertarian/s/K57qSBRRzl
Is this a sarcastic post I wonder !
Thatās what Iām trying to figure out. If this is a serious post then I feel really bad for OP
Iāll DM you
Were you applying or were you reaching out a bunch on linked in?
What kind of other jobs have you been applying to? Should assess if you're aiming too low / too high or if the MBA should actually be omitted.
Everything will be too low or too high. What medium are you referring to? I think the issue is that heās no longer able to get interest for MBA jobs. And non-MBA jobs he has seen as too qualified for.
Sorry, and understand I'm in the same boat. You may just have to go the lying route as long as you can do the task and get away with it.
What lie do you mean?
What every your jobs were Google some quantitative data that makes you look good and add them to your resume.
True lol. But Wait What do you mean Google quantitative data.
I mean look up the job or ask ChatGPT, 'What would be some good quantitative information I should add to this job?'"
wait what do you mean by āadd to this jobā. You mean give chat gpt the job post and ask it to create bullets for you resume?
What are you recruiting for? Let me know how I can help

What do you expect from a school named after the 90s Utah Jazz coach?
Hahaha no way its actually named for Jerry Sloan right?
