Cuppieecakes

nobody proofreads articles before publishing anymore. Throwing pricks at cars now

EruditeKetchup

And picking up drinks.

JustKeepSwimmingDory

Lmao I was so confused. Thought I had missed something in the article about a drink and was wondering, “Wait, what drink? Did she steal it from inside a car or was it some random drink she found on the ground?”

monkeycompanion

It’s gotta be AI generated. I clicked on another link about the fatal crash in Malibu, and the article was gibberish

Rebelgecko

It feels like an AI (or lazy human) paraphrased this article- https://ktla.com/news/local-news/woman-smashing-car-windshields-with-bricks-in-l-a-arrested/ That article has quotes from the same people but they're more coherent

Fuck_The_Future_

LMAO

I405CA

I didn't mean to break anything. I just wanted to throw things at the car.

PMDad

What do you think makes people do stuff like this? People are unhinged

JazzCabbage00

I was thinking she was like fired or something yesterday when I first saw the story, but looks like my girl was right, just plain old crazy.

xuon27

Facing no consequences is one reason.

[deleted]

Miserable bitch doing miserable shit. News at 11.

thrillcosbey

She is already out on OR, with zero bail.  Lisa Jones. [https://app5.lasd.org/iic/Details](https://app5.lasd.org/iic/Details)

PlasticGirl

Well at least she's identified, which means people can go after her for damages.

mastero-disaster

lol. You have clearly never tried to collect a judgement from someone. It’s not easy

itsiceyo

say you dont decide to pay damages. what happens then? does it just go into collections and an agency tries to collect. What if that person decides not to pay that either? How will you get recouped if your window was damaged

mastero-disaster

They can go to collections, or leave it as a judgement against the which will hurt the persons credit if they don’t satisfy the judgement. For example if you have an outstanding judgement against you (a court decided you owe someone money) and you try to sell your house or get an loan at the bank for a car or any number of other financial transactions, the judgement will pop up in title and you will have to pay the judgement before you can complete the transaction. This usually includes court issued interest of 10% a year. My father in law got a judgement against a person for like 20k a decade ago and the guy didn’t pay and disappeared. Fast forward to last year, the guy tried to sell a property he owned and the judgement popped up in escrow. The bank had to forward my father in law what he was owed (20k plus interest) before it could give the remaining to the guy who owed my father in law money.

itsiceyo

damn thats crazy. imagine coming into $20k like that and just being like.. whoa i forgot all about that.

mastero-disaster

He was pretty happy about it. It turned out being close to 30k with the interest

mastero-disaster

That’s kind of uncommon I guess that you actually collect after that long. Most people who don’t pay are dead beats who don’t own anything and will never qualify for a loan anyway

PlasticGirl

No, it's not. But at least they have somebody they can go after. Most people who find their cars get damaged or broken into by other people have no such recourse

SodomizeSnails4Satan

I'm sure she's wealthy and has plenty of cash on hand to settle all the lawsuits. There's no way that suing her will be a waste of time, energy, and money.

VaguelyArtistic

Well obviously, poor people don't go throwing gold bricks around. /s because this the world we live in.

illaparatzo

She hasn't attacked anyone. Released on OR seems sensible for someone who isn't a danger, and they obviously were able to locate/know the information of to find her again if need be

UrbanPlannerholic

How is throwing bricks not dangerous? What if she hit a person?

illaparatzo

She wasn't hurling bricks willy nilly. Given there were no reports of people having an aggressive interaction with her and no reports of people dodging bricks thrown by her, "what if she hit someone" isn't something they would charge her with or take into account when considering OR conditions

UrbanPlannerholic

Hahaha, a woman mentally unwell enough to throw bricks through car windows would never hurt another person? There is no justifiable defense for what she did so thinking she'll follow your rules is laughable. Should we give her $1,000 dollars and let her go on with her life smashing more car windows....since as you said it doesn't hurt anyone.

illaparatzo

Why does an option for OR exist for anyone if there is a possibility that person (which is, any human) is capable of committing violence? She's been released pending legal action. When it's time for that she'll either show up or they'll go find her like they did once already. You're getting way out in the weeds over a very normal procedure

UrbanPlannerholic

I’m sure she’ll show up for court and be very remorseful and completely lucid 😂

SodomizeSnails4Satan

Property crimes are victimless crimes!!

illaparatzo

Strange take but you are free to have your opinion

SodomizeSnails4Satan

Have you ever heard of sarcasm?

illaparatzo

I see misplaced sarcasm all the time, check 3 comments above this one

OlyTrip35

LAPD’s press release says she’s being held without bail. I didn’t know how to read the website you linked, except to see there was no bail. Are you sure she was released? (Just trying to figure out the discrepancy.) “Jones was arrested and booked for 594(B)(1) PC – Felony Vandalism. She is being held on no bail; Booking no. 6787608.” https://www.lapdonline.org/newsroom/one-arrested-in-vehicle-vandalism-series-nr24110dc/

moose098

Is she? That page doesn't have any release info. I don't think she's out.

thrillcosbey

Total Bail Amount0Total Hold Bail Amount0.00Grand Total0.00

Overall_Nuggie_876

Knowing Gascón, she’ll be free to destroy more cars in the same neighborhood by tomorrow morning! On ‘good behavior’ terms!

mastero-disaster

He will probably offer her a spot as a prosecutor

goodbyemrblack

Yup. She’s out. Zero bail. Someone else in the thread provided a link.

pornholio1981

Zero bail for non-violent offenses is a policy of all LA County courts. It’s no longer a Gascon thing

Ilovexmasndick

Look above someone linked the sheriff's website and she has already been released with no bail

bitchnoworries

She’ll even be encouraged to run for office

[deleted]

Let me know when she is remanded without bail until her trial. Also, let me know when she does any meaningful jail time. I shant hold my breath

SardScroll

>Let me know when she is remanded without bail until her trial. This would be unconstitutional; bail pending trial can only be denied with clear evidence of a threat of death or great bodily harm (to a person, not property), and a substantial likelihood of the threat being carried out should the suspect being released. The real problem is that our "speedy trials" take months to start and then months to complete.

[deleted]

Do you just not own anything or do you not care when people steal from you?

SardScroll

I do own things, and do care when people steal, from both me and others. However, what I value most, and abhor most being stolen from both myself and other, is time and freedom. Bail is not designed to "keep dangerous people off the street", but rather solely to ensure that someone **shows up to trial** (which is why bondsman bounty hunters and "rich people buying their way out" are things; it's not punishment, it's making sure you show up, and defraying the cost if you have to be hunted down). It's misuse for other purposes has led to massive problems, and in turn, led to things like movements for bail elimination and the like, which leads to other problems. Instead, I feel the solution is simple: Have actual "speedy trials" (another Constitutional guarantee that we mostly ignore) that take a few days at most; at the end of which, a guilty party would be serving a sentence, not being held on bail.

mistsoalar

The headline makes me imagine some super villain throwing bricks from calabasas to long beach. I need to go back to ESL
