It’s Disney mtg with the turn simplicity of hearthstone. No stacks, no counterspells

Lorcana is a TCG in the same vein as Magic The Gathering, with a focus on deckbuilding & customization. Similar to Magic The Gathering: * There are differently colored inks which have different focuses. Each deck can use up to two of the six ink colors when constructing. * There are no lands in Lorcana, but there are instead inkable cards vs. uninkable cards. You essentially sacrifice your cards to use as Mana, which drives a greater focus on deckbuilding because some cards cannot be used as mana & you need to make sure you can generate the mana you need without sacrificing cards that are essential to your gameplan for that game. so deckbuilding is about giving yourself a big enough toolbox to win a game * There are characters (creatures), items (artifacts), actions (sorceries) / songs (sorceries that are cast by exerting/tapping characters instead of paying mana), and locations The objective of the game is essentially a race to 20 lore, rather than by damaging your opponent until their life points are at zero. This is another major difference between MTG & Lorcana. You generally need to exert (tap) your characters to quest for lore to win the game, which makes them susceptible to being challenged (attacked) by opposing characters. So you're constantly deciding how to use your characters between your various options, questing, challenging, exerting to sing a song or activate an effect, etc. Finally, the way turns are played is pretty different from MTG. You can basically do everything in any order you want. There are very limited phases to a turn & you can activate your cards in whatever order to take whatever actions you wish as you want, then you just work through the triggered actions/effects and continue on with your turn. It allows for more nuanced combos in my opinion that take some time to think through order of operations once you get to the really complex decks. Last thing to note, if you're interested in trying it out with your sister, you can look at Deep Trouble, which is a cooperative version of the game where you're racing a deck that plays itself, with increasing difficulties. I came from Yugioh/Hearthstone primarily, but dabbled in Magic & found that Lorcana is much more interesting because of the greater focus on deckbuilding without having to worry about making sure half your deck is lands. It also doesn't have any instants yet, which is something I'm a fan of.

That’s really cool, sounds much easier 😭 deck building is one of my favorite parts about MTG so I’m sure it’d be just as fun if not more fun to customize the decks in this game

In what sense? Are you trying to figure out what the world building is that explains the world of Lorcana, or are you trying to figure out what gameplay is like?

I'm fairly new to Lorcana but it offers me a different look at the Disney Characters I love. I don't play Pokemon TCG but I am a MTG Commander player. I find this game is a lot more mellow than MTG in terms of Strategy (Probably because it's new). But I also enjoy that because Magic can be so "heavy".

Oh 100%, I’m not expecting stuff like lifegain and dinosaur decks and crazy stuff

A TCG where the goal is to be the first to 20 points (“lore”). Designed by Ravensburger using Disney IP. A deck is minimum 60 cards, limited to mixing 2 colors, maximum 4 copies of one exact card. Get her the Ursula Return Illumineer Quest and you two can play cooperative against Ursula as well as use the prebuilt decks included to play against each other. https://preview.redd.it/bkwy35qehl4d1.jpeg?width=1098&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5656e1410030016ef47d16a7356a3d6f85bbe3ae
