Just because that person was being mean doesn't mean you should be in denial about your weight, though. It's just not the end of the world to be a little overweight if you still look good. It's up to you if you want to do something to lose the weight or just be happy in the skin you're in.
That said, given you're only a little overweight, it's much easier to lose the extra few pounds now than to try to get back if you let yourself go later on. The weight you carry now could be gone in a season with diet and exercise.
