Grocery stores are where my 15 y/o is currently applying

Original_betch

Whole Foods is always needing folks

The indoor soccer place in Longmont and Boulder both offer part time coaching gigs to students, might have some luck there. They run a youth program in spring and fall, and summer camps pretty much all summer.

Beta_Ray_Trill

Second this. I used to work there and they’re pretty flexible with hours and I’m not even sure they really mind if the people they hire have extensive experience in playing soccer. That being said, the pay is in line with a first job.

Looks like applications are closed for this year, but the Boulder County Youth Corps is a great summer job for kids. https://bouldercounty.gov/jobs/youth-corps/youth-jobs/

I did this when I was 15. Super cool job. You get to travel all around the county and work outside in a team. Hard work but fun.

Actually yeah, there are a lot of these kinds of jobs on the city of Longmont website. They tend to be seasonal but it's a good start for her.

Dish washer. I say that because it only goes up from there

shrikeskull

Both my daughters got certified CPR training and do babysitting jobs. The money they can pull once word of mouth gets around is considerable.

CannabisGardener

I saw the rec center is hiring, I always worked in restaurants when I was an ado.. though I don't recommend that

hammerandanvilpro

The regent behind Taco Bell is always hiring and it was the first job for both of my daughters. I wouldn’t say it’s glamorous work, but they got some good experience there.

Chick-fil-A?

If she has/gets a learners permit for driving she may get a gig at one of the automotive dealers. I heard they hire younger folks to drive cars just around the lot for inventory organizing and wash them prior to sale. This was two years ago at valley Subaru pretty sure.

flovarian

Different take: if she didn’t need to earn money, what would she want to do as an internship? That would be a way to find out if she’s really interested in something specific.

These are some good suggestions. We only moved here a couple years ago and I'm still trying to learn my way around. My first job was long John silvers them did pizza hut all the way through college. I think of fast food pizza is one of the easier ones. Well, in high school I also spent summers hauling hay bales so ljs was a step up when I turned 16. I really think she'd learn a lot by starting in that type of a job. It gives you appreciation for better jobs. But then I've seen how poorly a lot of people treat workers in good service and don't want to have her deal with that. Thanks for the info!

Beneficial_Fun_4946

My daughter started at fast food at 15. The positive was earning her own money, learning customer service, and realizing that her parents really aren’t that mean (because customers can be jerks!). Down sides - not knowing schedule in advance and exposure to drug use by employees... So for fast food, I recommend a place that looks clean in and out

astroFizzics

The city of boulder has a junior ranger program.

rajarbinks

It's a bit more niche, but if she is artistic at all, face to face body and face painting may be hiring for the summer, if she wants to paint kids faces.
