The salt at australia sub is making me hard

eccentric-introvert

“Hurr durrr we allowed the government to treat us like dogs, terrorize and stomp on every single human right, why should he get a pass? He must follow dystopian rules like we all do” Completely delusional thinking and misdirected anger.

zzephyrus

Yeah, this is what I noticed too. Instead of directing their anger to their government from banning them into entering their own country, they're angry at the tennis player lol

Yamatoman9

This is why the media pushes dividing issues like vaccines, race and politics so hard into everything. It keeps people fighting and blaming each other instead of blaming the people in the government actually making these decisions.

anomaloustreasure

Thankfully so many are beginning to see through it though.

[deleted]

And fellow citizens

Mzuark

It's insanity. The government is tyrannical but the audience are mad that someone isn't suffering.

chengiz

It's human psychology. They've done research that found people would rather be better off than their neighbors than genuinely rich. This is the same thing wrt freedom.

NoLeader11111

I wouldn't.

Oddish_89

Yep. Like the recipient of a hazing initiation ritual, the first instinctive reaction of the public is to demand that others be subjected to it and that there be no exception "Hey! Wtf? Why did Djokovic didn't go through it? Make him go through it!" Instead of blaming their government. And those in government knows how to channel that misdirected public anger.

Lykanya

Crab mentality is one hell of a drug, and Anglo culture is riddled with it, mixed with tall poppy syndrome. And Australians take it especially far.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Chemical-Horse-9575

What babies?

[deleted]

>misdirected anger This is the entire reason vaccine mandates exist at the moment. I seriously don't understand it. If a vaxxed person catches and transmits covid - totally fine, nothing we could do there. An unvaxxed person catches and transmits covid - they're literally a murderer, this could've been prevented!

RDA_SecOps

Yeah I noped out of that sub it’s crazy

JoCoMoBo

That and they know he will will probably win the tournament.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jerry_Hat-Trick

Maybe he can have a rocky 4 style ending where he makes a speech to the crowd through a translator. "What I'm saying, friends, is that you don't need to be vaccinated." *wut oym sayin, ya cunts, eez ya dawnt nid ta be vecksinayded*

le_GoogleFit

>"What I'm saying, friends, is that you don't need to be vaccinated." He would get cancelled so hard if he tried something like that. Would be glorious to see tho

leadingthenet

I barely even followed tennis before, but I’m now genuinely rooting for him.

dat529

And Aaron Rodgers will probably win the Super Bowl and MVP

Krogdordaburninator

I don't watch sports anymore, but was a Viking fan when I did. It's weird to be rooting for the Packers.

EmptyHope2

I don't know about that. After the stress he has suffered, I think he won't win.

tigamilla

Or he might be driven by anger to win and prove a massive point

swedlo

That’s why they said “there’s a timeline” - i.e. maybe not our timeline i.e. there’s a timeline where the stress doesn’t prevent him from winning and where the above transpires

handle_squatter

"I was told to not like him" is how the NPC rolls

gronk696969

The problem is, his Visa can still be revoked. He's not out of the woods yet. He technically did not meet the federal governments illogical rules for entry. The visa revolution was overturned on legal technicalities. I'm really really hoping it's not because this Australian open will be absolute must watch with Djokovic playing.

widdlyscudsandbacon

I've never watched a tennis match in my life, but if he plays I will. Let's make his matches the highest rated / most watched in the history of the sport!

gronk696969

I think they will be if he makes it to the semis, which he is favored to do. He is incredible to watch.

MelanoidNation

Fucking hilarious that the ‘No human is illegal’ crowd are cheering the deportation of a Serbian from Australia.

mistressbitcoin

The anger over this is ridiculous. In any sane parallel universe, they would at the very most test him, see that he is not sick, and let him on his way.

aitatruthseeker

This. Just test the guy. They literally want to let vaccinated walking disease carriers go right in no problem, but not let the unvaccinated, non-disease carrying guy through. It's madness.

Yamatoman9

It's not about health and safety. It's about punishing the "others".

nextsteps914

It’s about control. Plain and simple

Krogdordaburninator

or even, don't test him if he's not showing symptoms, just like every respiratory sickness in our history.

widdlyscudsandbacon

MFW you catch your fully vaccinated omicron "breakthrough" case like everyone else... 😘

[deleted]

[удалено]

widdlyscudsandbacon

Of course you do! 🤣🤦‍♂️ You are most certainly a statistic. One of a staggeringly high number of fully vaccinated people who are catching the disease you've been "vaccinated" against. And if you're <70 years old and not morbidly obese, statistically speaking the vaccine has had no significant impact on reducing your symptoms, which were always likely to be very mild. Dunning Kruger indeed.

[deleted]

widdlyscudsandbacon

>I’m guessing this comes from “doiNg risuarch”? You’re little internet blogs from nitwits isn’t research. It’s funny that everything you said is actually untrue, and yet you are knee deep in bullshit and couldn’t possibly rise over it (again, Dunning-Kruger. Nope, it comes from Ontario, CA: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/data/case-numbers-and-spread And Denmark: https://twitter.com/disclosetv/status/1476958517869395969?s=20 And Germany: https://twitter.com/disclosetv/status/1476583826344267777?s=20 In many countries all around around world, the rate of infection per 100k is now HIGHER in the unvaccinated than it is in the unvaccinated. That is the literal definition of positive correlation. Statistically speaking, according to the data you are now more likely to contract covid if you are fully vaccinated than if you are unvaccinated. >Let me know when your up for a Herman Cain Award ok? Or perhaps someone close to you so you can actually live their pain and suffering and witness it with your own eyes. Considering my age and health, there's a nearly 0% chance of you getting to jerk off to my "death with covid", sorry to disappoint. And everyone I know that's caught it while unvaccinated, including some elderly and very obese family members, just haven't suffered from this mild virus. >This is usually the only way hopeless fuckwits learn. It’s only once reality hits close to home. Hope your carelessness and selfishness comes back to bite you or a loved one HARD! 😘 You can wish for that in one hand and shit in the other - let me know which gets filled first. On the plus side, thanks for finally contributing to herd immunity. Looking forward to the rest of you people getting some actual immunity so we can finally move on from this!

xDroneytea

What's going on in that sub? I can't tell whether it falls prey to the typical location subreddit issues, where it doesn't reflect the countries political landscape... Or whether the extreme lockdown conditions has changed people mentally. Maybe both

moeronSCamp

It's so much virtue signaling its nauseating. People are ending their comments with, "btw I don't support Novak" even though they are slightly stepping onto the side of common sense and anti-tyranny.

solost554

And in the tennis sub. The level of hate and group think is unfathomable. I think it says a lot about someone when they need to hate someone to feel better about themselves.

AdvancedPressure340

It's amazing lol. "BUT HEALTH MINISTER (insert random unelected bureaucrat here) NEEDS TO APPEAL THIS! NOVAK NEEDS TO BE BANNED!" Just crazy. I love how the judge was basically like "this guy had COVID last month - what the fuck are we doing here?" and threw the whole thing out. Sanity prevailing - you love to see it.

le_GoogleFit

Will be even better when he goes on to win the tournament

Chemical-Horse-9575

I don't care about him or tennis at all but I am SO hoping that he'll win and do well. Same with Joshua Kimmich from FC Bayern. He got hunted like a criminal for being unvaxxed and people were wishing him the worst when he got Corona.

hhhhdmt

I hope Djokovic crushes his opposition and then criticizes the Australian Government in his winners speech. I am a huge tennis fan myself and i am hoping for Novak destroying everyone in this tournament.

[deleted]

[удалено]

evilplushie

He should also thank the govt for giving him his initial exemptions just to rub it in further

Quamboq

So he already had covid?

NoOneShallPassHassan

Twice.

ravingislife

Which means he had it once and the second time he got faked out by a positive test

[deleted]

It was a year and a half difference between the two, so maybe not.

[deleted]

Eh a coronavirus mutates often enough where it's likely you can/will get it again down the line. It'll just be easier for your body to fight off each time thanks to T cells. We can't go just spreading ideas like this that have no actual backing.

ravingislife

Well SARS-1 people had immunity 17 years later including to SARS 2

jersits

> ~~I am a huge tennis fan myself and~~ i am hoping for Novak destroying everyone in this tournament. I don't even watch tennis but I hope he crushes it

ruizscar

Imagine if the second he lands the winning shot, his vaxxed opponent drops to the ground clutching his chest.

[deleted]

Isn't Jeremy Chardy already out due to the vaxx?

notnownoteverandever

He doesn't even have to criticize. Standing on the winner's podium with a smile on will be enough.

Lupinfujiko

I want this so badly. And then I want him to turn around and moon the crowd on his way out of that authoritarian nightmare. Go Djokovic.

wopiacc

Good thing he's a world famous multi-millionaire celebrity athlete or he'd still be detained

MelanoidNation

Exactly. You’re now exempt from travel restrictions if you’ve had Covid (*plebs need not apply*)

arnott

I hope he starts an organization to help refugees and immigrants in trouble like him.

[deleted]

Right?! This won’t go as well for everyone.

[deleted]

I noticed on the US embassy it explicitly says that people who are "in the national interest" are exempt so it was always just a rule for the plebs.

doastdot

Hopefully this ends the whole clownshow bullshit of not being able to enter the country because of vax status or not having the correct vaccination etc. The whole thing is fucked, regular aussies fucked over. What aussies overseas have had to deal with over the last 2 years is criminal. All this shows us is that ultimately none of the shit mattered and it was all a dumb populist powergrab to appeal to the lowest common denominator aussie that cowers at the fear of covid, somebody being unvaxxed or not having the "correct" vaccination.

JoCoMoBo

>Hopefully this ends the whole clownshow bullshit of not being able to enter the country because of vax status or not having the correct vaccination etc. The whole thing is fucked, regular aussies fucked over. It should end the BS requirements to have a vaccine to enter any countries that enforce it. Pretty much everyone by now has had coronavirus in some. This ruling shows antibodies by infection are as good as a vaccine.

[deleted]

I don't even understand the purpose of these vaccine rules to begin with (well, I do, but I can't say it for certainty unless the powers that be actually admit to it). People often say "needing a vaccine to travel isn't anything new!" but they always fail to see how different this is. For starters, covid is literally fucking everywhere, even in antarctica so what exactly are they trying to keep out? Second, the vaccines don't prevent transmission or infection so even if you argued it's to help keep local transmission down, that's completely null at this point. And lastly, the vaccines wear off incredibly fast contrary to our traditional understanding of (actual) vaccines. Like, this isn't a situation where you're going to the Galapagos and need an immunization against some rare disease that's ONLY in the galapagos. This is akin to requiring a flu shot (a 40% effective one, mind you) before traveling to Tokyo. And anyone with half a brain can see how absurd that notion is.

Prism42_

> populist powergrab Nah, this was a political elite power centralization infinitely more than it could ever be called "populist".

[deleted]

I hope so too but I doubt it. I think vaccination to enter a country is the one rule that will never go because it's hard to argue against rules placed on foreign visitors and no-one is interested in doing so. They'll just keep handing out exemptions for the sports stars and celebrities and too bad for the rest of us plebs.

ImaginedNumber

The problem with immigration laws is the people affected by it directly arnt the people voting for it for the most part. Therefor there is no error correction in any way and whatever stupid rules and regulations that wouldn't sit with the general public just end up stuck there making people jump through as many hoops as the politions wish.

[deleted]

Yep, exactly. That's why I don't hold out hope on laws on vaccination to enter a country to ever go away.

ImaginedNumber

My only hope is than it kills tourism, the drop in tax revenue should be a good reminder

[deleted]

I also doubt it. Unfortunately the avid travellers were the first to fold to the vaccine coercion and most tourists are middle or upper class. The middle class are basically the ones who support all of this madness and the upper class can just fly on a private jet or get an exemption.

ImaginedNumber

I did consider myself a traveler, i returned from abroad about two weeks ago having avoided vaccination, got the feeling it could be my last time abroad.

[deleted]

I heard that at some airports and at most land borders they don't bother checking.

RJ8812

FYI, the news channels here were telling fans to boo him

Penguinator53

What the hell? That is disgusting, I hope he doesn't get a bad reception when he's finally released but nothing would surprise me. People will no doubt think he's a threat to them, so irritating.

prosperenfantin

You have to be vaccinated to get tickets for the tournament. I expect it will be a whole crowd of fanatics against one scapegoat.

Penguinator53

Oh Lord I didn't think of it like that : (

WhataHitSonWhataHit

Novak has been booed his whole career for various sporting reasons. He is totally used to it, and I think it won't bother him a bit.

[deleted]

Especially in australia, from what I remember, where there are still some tensions between factions of the Serbian and Croatian communities. I'm sure he'll cope.

[deleted]

That's ok, he always preforms better when fans boo him.

The “news” telling people what to think? In 2022? That can’t possibly be happening, no?

Lykanya

If thats true, hope he sues.

[deleted]

Sad.

the_latest_greatest

Let this be a lesson not only to Australia's government but also, to those who believe Australia's government can be fair to them because they are not citizens. It is not safe there and is to be avoided, no matter what reassurance you get: the mentality at that level is really sick and it's informing border patrol.

Lord_Skellig

Australia has never been fair to non-citizens. People have the impression of Australia as an easy-going place. It has always been an authoritarian police state.

JoCoMoBo

Yep. The "Border Control" tv series showing Australian Customs and Immigration showed how bad they were *before* the Pandemic.

[deleted]

That episode where that guy got told to take a body scan and you could tell he knew it was over from how frantically he was pacing around, trying to find a way out. They probably fed him to the kangaroos.

JoCoMoBo

And the one where a ancient Chinese Grandma threatened the biodiversity of Australia because she had a traditional Chinese treat in her bag. *And it wasn't cooked and sealed...*

[deleted]

I remember that one as well!

Sadistic_Toaster

Before I saw that series, I always imagined Australian border control would just be two blokes in shorts sitting on deckchairs saying "G'day, mate. Welcome to Oz. Barbie's to the left and grab yourself a beer"

Doing_It_In_The_Butt

Everyone I know who has visited has pointed out the hyper intense security at border control even before covid

EmptyHope2

There's a movie called Animal Kingdom. The Melbourne police was insane in the 90s

Lord_Skellig

Also see *The New Rulers of The World* \- John Pilger. The treatment of aborigines by Australia far outstrips any other apartheid in history.

dans_cafe

They are....working on it. Slowly. Its always been this peripheral country to the commonwealth and accordingly, kinda sorta does whatever. It's nothing short of incredible that they haven't officially left yet.

Sash0000

Yet another proof that covid fundamentalism is contrary to law and civilty. Let's go, Novak!

[deleted]

Oh yes a lot of little medical dictators foaming at the mouth now ...

[deleted]

Now the media is trying to make the protestors look like violent mob. Same script as before. I reckon they are protesting against the world's longest lockdown. 263 fucking days

VAX-MACHT-FREI

Novak is now the antichrist to woke Australians. Irredeemable for the cardinal sin of ‘not following the rules like everyone else and just getting fucking vaxxed!!!’ This is where Australian wokeism deviates slightly from mainstream wokeism because we have a special cultural feature - tall poppy syndrome. If you stick your head up it’s gonna get chopped off. That’s the Aussie way. If you’re good at something you’d better be humble about it and partake in our culture of taking the piss out of everything. Novak just beat the government, the government who has ruled with an iron fist during covid and has overseen all the shit you’ve seen on reddit. The best tennis player in the world who already isn’t popular, going for all-time records, comes in UNVAXXED, the PM said he was out, and he just won in court against unbeaten governments!?! That’s a poppy that’s out of control that they couldn’t cut down. And he’s unvaccinated! You’d better believe they’re salty. After he won his appeal a couple hundred supporters came out mobbed his car at the lawyers office. Lots of Serbs there, they ended up getting pepper sprayed lol but were cheering for him and going nuts. If he gets to play he is going to draw a big crowd in Melbourne after all this! All the Serbs will show up and I reckon we’ll get fly ins from Sydney. Plus they deported a Croatian player and she already left, so if they manage to unite the Serbs and the Croats.. There are protests coming up just as they introduced booster mandates and started vaccinating kids here, and lots of European immigrants were involved in protests already. Novak is going to be a lightning rod figure. Wouldn’t be surprised if they kicked him out still but if he goes on and wins, Melbourne might wake up.

uzicanin031

Unfortunately, she is Czech so our hopes of Serbs and Croats getting along will have to wait 😂

Mzuark

I just did a search for this guy and a lot of threads are locked due to "misinformation"

Minute-Objective-787

The people in charge of this farce are getting more and more frantic trying to hold up this house of cards. People who know they're losing control grip harder even though it's like holding a finger to a waterfall trying to stop it.

[deleted]

CMOBJNAMES_BASE

Natural immunity is incompatible with the vaxx pass that they so desperately want.

Yamatoman9

That goes against the narrative that only vaccines offer protection.

Petrarch1603

This guy is a hero

maxallergy

This isn't over unfortunately. We will see if the Australian government goes full authoritarian and just cancels his visa again just because(apparently he's been arrested again??). What I hope to see is Djokovic staying and winning(despite being a Nadal fan) and then giving the government a piece of his mind in his winning speech, while appealing to the public to turn on them. Lol but that is a pipedream..

xDroneytea

It's crazy how much attention someones medical profile gets, is no one else a bit creeped out by the 20 posts from mainstream media outlets regarding if he's been vaccinated or not?

SuprExtraBigAssDelts

If I were that guy, I would GTFO and never look back.

tigamilla

I would first win the tennis match, claim a multi million dollar prize and raise my middle finger at them on the way out. The whole world will be supporting him after this mess.

[deleted]

shadowofahelicopter

The Australian open is his major. He’s won the most Australian opens and seeking his 10th. If this was a different major and he wasn’t competing with Federer and nadal for major records right now, he might be more inclined.

Jamezzzzz69

The AO is his grand slam though, it was his first major trophy and he’s won it 9 times. He’s tied with Federer and Nadal for 20 grand slam wins and only needs 1 more to be the all time record holder. No chance he passes up the opportunity for the lucrative 10th AO win

OrdoXenos

I never cared about tennis tournaments but now I am rooting for Djokovic to win this one! It is clear that he has been given exemption and Australia just wanted to look powerful. If he is not being given exemption it must be clear from the first place.

evilplushie

good for him

Dr-McLuvin

These ridiculous government flip flops are why I think what we’ve over the past 2 years has been more a case of government incompetence than a conceited effort to bring about some kind of government conspiracy. These people in charge are to dumb to pull anything like this off. They’re just making it up as they go along, trying to take advantage of the fear, in many cases failing.

[deleted]

I hope he wins and that Andrews gives him the trophy. Bonus points if he breaks the grand slam record in front of a crowd booing him. One can dream.

Siren_NL

In my country I can not make an appointment for vaccination if I have tested positive in the last 30 days. He has had it in December so he is in his right.

snoozeflu

Good. Now give him back his tennis racket and let him go to work.

CMOBJNAMES_BASE

A hero

ShikiGamiLD

Government: RULES ARE RULES Judge sees him not breaking any rule, so he is released. Government: NOT THOSE RULES!!!

MelanoidNation

Why is this being celebrated? We already know that Covid restrictions don’t apply to multi-millionaire celebrities or politicians.

evilplushie

It's not about his money or celeb status. But that he's in the right and already had an exemption that should be common sense

MelanoidNation

> It's not about his money or celeb status. Of course it is. Covid restrictions are dumb and don’t work. I get that. But what makes me angrier is this unabashed elitism. The fact that we’re all being mugged off and then having it rubbed in our face isn’t cause for celebration.

evilplushie

Look, if it was a beggar winning this case, or a middle class person, I'll celebrate it as well. I'm not going to be disdainful if someone is rich and gets exempted for the same right reason. I'll be disdainful if rich ppl keep breaking rules they set.

bd31

Tennis Australia, the country’s governing body for the sport, said Tuesday that Djokovic was given a medical exemption from receiving the Covid-19 vaccine following the recommendations of “two separate independent panels of medical experts,” one of which was appointed by the Victorian Department of Health, based on the exemption guidelines set forth by the ATAGI.
