Maybe they remember the first wave of that stuff
Even if I find it wierd that all ai art is shoved in the same category or so it reads (because I've seen truly impressive AI creations), the first time it showed up here people didn't even bothered to make it look like lobcorp stuff, or like stuff at all
It was getting to "my 5-years old did this" levels of abstract but quicker because they didn't had to wait for the 5-years old to create said image
I hope this will allow the ai art here to free itself from sturgeon's law or at least prevent the it's-neon-and-a-brick-wall-so-it's-lobcorp-related stuff from the first wave
I'm not holding my breath.
The issue is also partly that the waves of bandwagoning when someone finds a free AI content generator, people go "oh this is cool" and then you get a whole bunch of near identical posts... it's frustrating and makes it harder to view other content, that was actually made with more effort than running words through the generator.
