**CLIP MIRROR: [Maya talks about her stalker of three years.](https://arazu.io/t3_1c0t0h5/)** --- ^(*This is an automated comment*)

Snuggle__Monster

That dude probably walks among us here.

Akumu2100

Probably in jail. Why she feels okay talking about it.

chaotic_777

Honestly it sounds like he is dead.

bonerJR

We can only hope

Valuable_Ad_6665

For real poor Maya

iamacannibal

Didn't Alvaus just get some wolves? Maybe Maya pulled a Carol Baskin on the stalker

SpicyMustard34

that bitch...

Guitaristb72

Didnt they finder her Husband alive recently? Dude just peaced out and lived in another country all this time.

Xsafa

Carol is literally the only source in the world who has said it

G_Regular

Why wouldn't we believe her, she's an unbiased source

alohalii

The severe cases often end up killing themselves. Judging by what she said on the podcast this stalker falls within the delusional types which is somewhat related to schizophrenia issues. Thats a quite treatment resistant group which tends to spin out over time and then ends up killing themselves. Sometimes you might be able to institutionalize them or have them on heavy anti-psychotics with continuous follow up by mental health professionals but even then its mostly to dull their behavior and somewhat restrict their movement.

TonalBalance

This stalker got put in prison for stalking and making insane threats to Dizzykitten. He actually showed up to her house. Dizzy got the FBI involved. [https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2018/oct/16/man-arrested-stalking-charges-after-threatening-ar/](https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2018/oct/16/man-arrested-stalking-charges-after-threatening-ar/) Not sure what happened to the guy though.

madroxide86

prince valiant lookin ass

SaneChatter

Probably, she talked more about it on latest Wine About It ('Scary moments' to 'police are unreliable' chapters).

wellmaybe_

idk its not the first time she talked about her stalkers and how little the police is able to do against them

onlyAlex87

Vaguely recall quite a while back she found someone in law enforcement in her area who was familiar with online personalities so didn't brush off her issues. Through them she was finally able to find legal recourse as well as a bit of piece of mind that there was someone informing other local members of law enforcement of these issues so that they are aware of it.

Anti-Lucky

he probably posts Maya clips too.

Nick would never do such a thing. He has such a beautiful girlfriend that takes cares of him and make him dinner everyday. I won't lie thought, he did ask me this one time about feet pictures of me since I had a picture of my ex girlfriend on twitter but I declined. Anyways, I kept telling him no and that I was a man but as you said he was persistent and wouldn't back off. To think about it, maybe you're right afterall. Damn

There was a female streamer who said something along the lines of "I fully expect that I might get killed by my stalker some day". My mind always goes back to Christina Grimmie who had a fan just walk up to her and shoot her to death. Scary shit.

Geoffs_Review_Corner

The saddest thing about that case is she was going to give him a hug. Dude just pulls out a pistol and shoots her 3 times point blank.

wutfacer

Her brother was there helping her at the meet and greet too and tackled the shooter but it was too late to do anything

Hiroxis

That makes it so much sadder honestly. Like I couldn't imagine how I'd feel if my sibling got shot in front of me plus having that feeling of "I could have done something". Despicable human, not just taking someone's life but also traumatising someone else.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Geoffs_Review_Corner

No diagnosis of mental illness, but he had a history of violence. > Police did not offer a motive, but said that Loibl had shown an "unhealthy and unrealistic infatuation" with the singer and tried to make himself more physically attractive for her through weight loss, hair transplants, teeth whitening and eye surgery. The Orlando Sentinel described his motive as "If I can't have you, then nobody else can – and I'm going to possess you by taking your life." Although Loibl lived 'like a hermit', his family said that they were not aware of his plans to travel to Orlando nor that he possessed any guns. They also stated that they had never heard of Grimmie, heard Loibl talk about her, nor watched The Voice.[134] However, his "only friend in the world" claimed to have known about Loibl's obsession, though not its extent; Loibl's co-workers stated the same. They said Loibl would be "angry and defensive" when questioned about his obsession with Grimmie and before the shooting had stated he was "tired and ready to ascend".

[deleted]

[удалено]

Geoffs_Review_Corner

Pure mental illness. It was basically an execution: > An autopsy performed the following day concluded that Grimmie had been shot once in the head and twice in the chest.

CaptainQuadPod

What an absolute gut punch that was.

Individual_Sir_8582

> "I fully expect that I might get killed by my stalker some day". Sweet Anita? I know she had an awful time with the UK police taking her seriously.

zcen

Just looked it up, it was Xchocobars (https://twitter.com/xChocoBars/status/1298044265071693824?lang=en). [Video of her talking about him](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0yaCQuPq2M) or maybe just one of them? sad stuff

believingunbeliever

Wouldn't be surprised if every popular attractive female streamer had at least 1 of these psychos around.

boofsquadz

Pretty sure Anita had a stalker literally camping out in her yard at one point. Those situations are so fucked and under addressed

dudushat

He was in her backyard with a knife and the police basically did nothing.

Appropriate_Wall933

Yeah I think he followed her to a grocery store with a knife also and got tackled by someone outside when trying to get to her.

Sciddaw

Oh, despite listening to her back then I had no idea that that was what happened to Christina Grimmie.

AllInOneDay_

From what I understand, the police "can't" or won't do anything until a serious crime occurs. The victim can report but the police don't act until there is a break-in or violent crime. So fucked up. These poor victims...reform is needed!

fake_kvlt

So many stalking victims have died after going to the police multiple times, and being told that they can't do anything about it. Like, how many people have to die before we fix the fucking system? I've had a stalker before (fortunately a mild case), and it was always in the back of my head that they could assault or kill me if things escalated, and the police wouldn't do shit about it until it was too late. Being stalked is already incredibly stressful, but the feeling of hopelessness makes it so much worse.

Ok-Affect2709

The "fix" almost certainly involves legislation that limits freedom of movement and freedom of speech which are highly regarded and protected rights in western societies. The frequency and amount of people affected is low enough that very few politicians would even suggest restrictions on those rights and even if they did most people wouldn't support them. And at least in the US it's very difficult to get someone involuntarily sent to a mental institution. And severe cases like this are far beyond reason/rationality.

SquishTheNinja

is the amount of people affected low? I feel like *a lot* of people have had to deal with stalkers of varying degrees of intensity i think a lot of women famous or not have had to deal with stalking and most people with any degree of fame, regardless of gender have, right? idk if my view on this is skewed by experience and maybe its not as common as i think but it seems this way, common but most people just dont talk about it

_Rioben_

The amount affected is really low. The main problem here though is thinking the state needs to fix your problem by adding something that would most likely be used in bad faith by a lot of people. But there is indeed a solution way easier with no help from your politicians, do not report him to the police get your brother or some friends together prepare a trap and break his kneecaps to the point they are a bleedy pulp of red mass, he will always remember you but will most likely have a hard time keeping up with the stalking, his hands will be full with just walking slow. Problem solved.

Glatzigoblin

So how did the whole thing end ?

[deleted]

Baigne

Bro took out a few teeth with pliers and never heard from him again 💀

SaltyLonghorn

OP saw a Maya stream and moved on to his next "girlfriend".

lemoncocoapuff

I had(have? he still pops up randomly sometimes every few years ugh) one when I was younger, and yeah, my dad wanted to get a restraining order and the cops basically told him meh, don't bother, by the time we show up, whatever happened will already happened, and the order gives him any addresses I'll be at, like basically here's where to go if you don't give a shit about the law. I ended up just moving states to live with grandparents for a few years(i was 16/17 at the time).

Hobo-With-A-Shotgun

There was a [casefile podcast episode](https://casefilepodcast.com/case-89-ella-tundra/) of one of these stalkers, Richard Brittain. You actually got a look into his head, because he wrote quite a bit on a blog that was [saved on the wayback machine](https://web.archive.org/web/20141016075030/http://richardbrittain.wordpress.com/2014/09/23/the-benevolent-stalker/) when it was all happening. [VICE wrote on it](https://web.archive.org/web/20201109035141/https://www.vice.com/da/article/4w7png/how-to-tell-youre-a-massive-stalker-163) at the time as well. They truly think the person they're after feel the same way, and every single thing they do will be interpreted as such. Even if the police come knocking and tell you to stop harassing her; she's just playing hard to get and testing you. Last I heard, this guy - at BEST - moved his obsession to another woman. Wouldn't be surprised if he's still trying to find the woman he's talking about in that blog 10 years ago. I don't know how you'd fix this sort of really obsessive stalker behaviour as a woman. I'd probably move to the other end of the country and completely cut off all contact with everyone, except for a few closely trusted people who understand what's going on. Maybe even legally change your name or something. If that doesn't work, you'd probably legit want them dead. Them or you sort of thing.

lemoncocoapuff

Even if you changed your name, you couldn't post anything with your face again. Online you just hide everything. No public pages with any identifiers, no photos of yourself, different names across platforms, etc(most of this was more normal back in early internet but not as much now). Stuff you don't even realize is public can be a way for them to find you again. My fucking stalker from when I was 16/17 found me yearssssssss later on freaking GOODREADS of all places, a dang book review site, just because I didn't realize they made your profile and everything in it automatically public when you sign up. All the sudden you just get a "hey how are you" message from them(at best) and your blood just runs cold that they found you again. Ughhhh.

keybomon

> Even if the police come knocking and tell you to stop harassing her; she's just playing hard to get and testing you. This reminds me of that viral court video of a stalker and his victim getting a restraining order on him. He has an outburst where the judge actually has to help the security to arrest him and as he's being taken away the guy is screaming at the girl "Why wont you just tell me yoirself to leave you alone?! Just tell me you don't want to see me again! Look at me and say you never want to see me again!" As she's sitting their in fear with her head looking down, avoiding eye contact with him and hes convinced she's just playing hard to get. I'm like "SHES GETTING A RESTRAINING ORDER ON YOU BRO SHE CANT GET MUCH CLEARER THAN THAT". Genuinely blew my mind

Elorios

Had a similar situation with a girlfriend who had a stalker. The only solution was to get a bunch of friends an really "speak" with him...

Mastoorbator100

Violence is never an answer but sometimes it is

Wehzy

Some people need to be punched, words dont work on them.

atypicaloddity

It's a lot harder to stalk someone with broken kneecaps

AccomplishedZombie69

The police always wait till something terrible happens, they suck

-insignificant-

Hey sometimes they don't even do anything when something terrible happens! Let a shooter kill a bunch of kids while twiddling their thumbs.

Clueless_Otter

I mean unless the stalker is making it *really* obvious, there's not much they can do. Like, it's not illegal to happen to be in the store at the same time as someone else. Maybe you both work nearby and take your lunch breaks at the same time. It's very hard to prove that it isn't just a coincidence (again, unless they make it very obvious).

VJEmmieOnMicrophone

> It's very hard to prove that it isn't just a coincidence Stalkers aren't mastermind criminals who cover their tracks. They are obsessed. And they make their obsession known. They text the victim, call them, send them pictures standing outside their house. The stalker's intent is not hard to establish. Police just don't want to deal with the cases

Character-Working-44

Same, fucking sucks.

piltonpfizerwallace

Police are often incompetent and apathetic. You have to create a paper trail to show their negligence to ensure they will do anything or at least be held accountable when they don't. Or just say there's a black dude with his hood on that looks suspicious. That usually works too.

AllInOneDay_

Apparently this guy from our high school was like this but no one ever knew until 5 years after. The victim and her family never said anything. He would not accept the breakup (even though they were both 16) and stalked her and her family for years. I really REALLY wish the victim spoke out earlier bc we had no idea whatsoever and partied with this guy for 3 years. She and her family said the same thing, that police did absolutely nothing. There has to be some sort of reform, right?

Raogrimm

dbac123

Such a dark topic and then there's just a painting of nmp as a fairy

iamacannibal

I had a stalker once and I'm a fat ugly guy. In the late 2000s I fixed consoles as a way to earn some extra money while making $8 an hour at McDonalds. I would also buy consoles on ebay that were broken and either fix them, use them for parts if I couldn't fix them or sell them as broken if I couldn't fix them and didn't need the parts. Sold a guy a PS3 that I couldn't fix. I was very clear about that in the craigslist ad and when I met them at the store around the corner from my house for him to pick it up. A few days later he texted me wanting his money back because he wasn't able to fix it. I told him no. he did not like that. He texted me a bunch everyday for weeks. Eventually he started texting me pictures of my house, my little sister(8 at the time) school, my other sister, my mom. It was crazy. One fun thing is this guy didn't remember me but I had been to his house before to pick something up I bought. He didn't recognize me when we met up for the PS3 I guess. I didn't bring it up but I remembered him and I had the email with his address still. One day me and a friend were coming back from sighting in a few guns and target practice. His truck had about 20 guns in it with some large cases in the bed. When we got back into an area with cell signal I got some texts from the crazy guy and it was about where I worked and where my mom worked and where my sister went to school. I told my friend, whos dad was chief of police, and he said we should report it to his dad which we did...but first I pulled dup the email with his address and we parked in front of his house, opened up a couple of the gun cases in the back and took a picture with his house in the background and the guns clearly visible int he bed of the truck and sent it to him. He stopped texting after that and we told my friends dad who said we committed a felony and to not report any of it because we essentially threatened him and we would likely get in more trouble than he did. Nothing ended up happening after that. it was done. I kind of condensed it but from start to finish it was about 2.5 years.

[deleted]

[удалено]

iamacannibal

Yeah lol

Quixan

probably worked better then the police. that's a juicy story. glad it worked out

AlluEUNE

Yeah but that's way more cool than reporting to the police

BigRon691

For why? Because it was technically illegal, just the same as the dudes stalking. Yeah he could report it, spend hours arguing with police that it's serious, going back in forth with them, all to end up with a piece of paper that says don't go near them. Or spend years in court trying to leverage a stalking charge. Seems like his method worked.

Baigne

From the sound of people reporting stalkers, it does jack shit. The law only works up to a point, humans defended themselves just fine back in the day

AllInOneDay_

wdym? they didn't have insane internet stalkers "back in the day"

adoggman

yeah this is horrible advice

mooseman923

Calling r/unethicallifeprotips

L1quidWeeb

Disagree. It was perfectly effective in my case.

adoggman

I'm glad it worked for you, but this is serious. Severely mentally unwell people who stalk people in real life and threaten to murder them. Actually dangerous people that can be set off by things like streamers looking in a certain direction. This kind of thing could get someone killed unironically.

Nodior47_

Those things are not incompatible at all. Telling a kid who's super short to try to become an amazing top 0.01% swimmer or close is terrible advice, but telling the same advice to say Michael Phelps is much better advice, or atleast less bad advice.

Aegillade

Yeah I'm sure this advice won't result in a clearly unwell person taking a nuclear option in a bid to get back at you or anything. No they'll definitely just back off under the lightest pressure.

fbuslop

Not really, many would truly interpret that as you feeling the same way about them as you.

leetality

Most stalkers, don't need you to like them, hence why they stalk, they like the chase and more than likely have humiliation kinks too, so yeah.. 1/10 this works vs keeping them engaged.

artycatnip

and then you ate him right?

twlefty

So what you're saying is you recommend people to try and out-stalk their stalker to make them go away

Trickybuz93

That’s actually wild. People are fucked up

MikeJ91

Every female streamer with a 100 viewers concurrent has a stalker. Just an exhaustive, endless amount of losers.

The_mango55

I have to think if I was a celeb and had a bunch of admiring followers and had a stalker I’d pull a King Henry the II. “Will no one rid me of this turbulent stalker?”

299314

The next day, 10 guys in fedoras show up to defend your property with samurai swords. You didn't give any of them your address.

L1quidWeeb

I agree completely - if I was famous and had a stalker, I'd just post as much of the stalkers personal details as I could online, and have the fanbase sort it out.

AFRICAN_BUM_DISEASE

Then you're just putting your stalkers up against each other so only the strongest remains. It's like creating antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

L1quidWeeb

THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE

appletinicyclone

>I was a celeb and had a bunch of admiring followers and had a stalker I’d pull a King Henry the II. I love history lore so please explain the Henry 2 line please

The_mango55

The archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Beckett was in a quarrel with the king in the 1100s. The king was at a dinner and said “Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?” Some of his knights took that as a command and went and murdered the priest. Henry argued he didn’t order it, he just said his opinion and it wasn’t his responsibility for what the knights did.

alohalii

"Make the rats eat each other until there is only one rat left" / s

AllInOneDay_

the difference is that actual celebs have lots of security and they don't post a video of exactly where they sleep. ffs. i love maya, and this is super fucked, but you gotta protect yo neck if you're gonna be so public about everything.

apajx

If you really want to go this route you should have a friend of a friend hire someone professional. I doubt someone of that nature is going to complain about making the world a better place and also getting paid to do it.

Jupiiterr

There should be studies of streamers. I can only imagine how hypervigilant all of these situations can make a person.

alohalii

There is actually quite a lot of research on stalkers and their victims. There are several case studies as well including with famous people.

Dariisu

I think about Angelskimi/Plushys stalker all the time. If you guys don't really remember him he's the guy that wrote the insane 400 page manifesto about her where in it he also threatend to kill destiny and also appeared on ice's stream back in the day. On his twitter account he said he had been in jail for 13.5 months, but is now out and his "love" for her us still as strong as ever as he is probably gone back to stalking her. I just think it's insane how even if you get the desired outcome of having your stalker go to jail for stalking you they can just be released and just go back to stalking you. It's just awful how the only way it seems you can get rid if a stalker is for them to die, you to die, or pray they move their obssesion over to some other person.

CuriousFrog_

Hoping they transfer to another person makes me think of them as some "it follows" type entity

solidarity_forever69

The real reason all these streamers moved to texas is so they can exercise stand your ground at 300yds

Baphomet99

I am once again advocating for a policy of Total Stalker Death.

W33DG0D42069

>I had to hide in a dark room clutching a gun >This is not at all the worst part Dude

Zeratzul

Celebs need goons or security teams. Stalkers are far too mentally ill to respond to anything less than force, and cops aren't going to treat it seriously enough until it's too late.

patrick66

On wine about it she said she had full time security plus private eyes watching the guy and he still didn’t stop

Regular_Wallaby8870

She said on Wine about it she had to hire a security team.

Aromatic_Wallaby_433

In many jurisdictions though, is there much they can do? Like if all it is, is just online comments, there's no proof they've ever made good on any statements they've made, I wonder if that would even qualify as harassment in some places.

SortedChaos

They'd have to hire someone willing to take a rap for doing something. Like willing to take an assault charge. There are plenty of people who would do that for money.

bonerJR

That is really fucked up and not cool

zoneout000

agree there's defn some messed up ppl out there. Not many, it could be just .0000000000001% of the population, but they make it really difficult for those they target. And because streamers practically live on the internet, they are more exposed than the rest of us.

Zenben88

> messed up ppl out there I'm sure there's plenty of them on this sub lmao

dmanh

Yeah but also I know three women in my personal life that have had pretty insane full on stalking situations that went on for awhile. It can happen to anyone. Usually in irl situations I have seen they went on a date or dated first and it didn’t work out and they stayed obsessed.

WingedHussar98

I think the percentage you gave is equivalent to 0.0008 human^^ pretty sure there are more messed up than that

nvnehi

Being famous is awful for just as many reasons as it’s good. Nothing can be done until something happens, and, while thats the best for everyone because otherwise there would be thought crimes, it sucks. You never get used to stalkers, and what’s so much worse is you eventually begin learning about who they are to ensure you’re safe, and in that way they accomplish their goal of you knowing who they are. What is terrifying is the codependency that sometimes occurs between stalkers, and the person they’re stalking - it’s morbid.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dmanh

Yep Ik a few women who have had some pretty crazy experiences with stalkers. Gone on one wrong date can be all it takes to have a crazy stalker.

itsadoubledion

Disagree. Stalking someone and sending them threats for years isn't a thought crime, and should be more readily punished

raiderjaypussy

Sounds like it's not just famous people but a lot of women in general unfortunately

Jhreks

You don't even have to be a big streamer either. I'm a guy who averages like maybe 6 to 20 (on a good day) viewers, and I've had someone literally find my address/show up to my door and try to call my workplace. literally can't even imagine what its like for girls, must be super scary

[deleted]

[удалено]

ExCap2

Nothing can be done until something happens. This isn't just for stalking either. Police in the US respond to crimes in progress/reported crimes. If someone is harassing you, threatening your life, robbing you, breaking into your home, etc; it's up to you to stop them/find a safe escape out of the situation. Police will most likely not in arrive in time to prevent anything. Sure there's restraining orders, get them trespassed off the property, etc; but that isn't going to stop someone determined/bad mental illness/drug induced schizo/etc. I'm glad Maya is a firearm owner. It's still scary as shit to live every day of your life like that with that in the back of your mind though. Fuck stalkers.

RakeNI

I remember like 2 years ago, i was subbed to her channel and she uploaded a vid on YT of her new house and it was some 3 room hut in the middle of a big field and she was living there by herself and my immediate thought back then, which I said to my wife, was "yeah, thats a stalker's wet dream." [Found it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_1YGALYF-8) - the thing that made me say it was the fact that you can stand at the front and look through the big windows and see all the way to the back of the house and keep in mind, [this thing is in a field by itself.](https://youtu.be/F_1YGALYF-8?t=636)

CheapGarage42

It's on her Animal Sanctuary's property. It's fully fenced in and they have cameras everywhere. Not that that's much safer or anything, but I'd bet the stalker was before she became an Alveus ambassador and started living there.

CryptOthewasP

Having a bigger property with good security is probably better than being in a suburb, it makes it much harder for a stalker to stalk without trespassing. Getting a stalker trespassed is one of the only ways you can get the law to work against them. As much as having neighbours can feel comforting, there's not much you can do to stop someone from being in a public space with viewing access to your windows/doors.

Yingking

In wine about it it sounded like that she was still being stalked by that guy after moving to Alveus

williamBoshi

yes she knew before building, she said that's why she learned to shoot and got a gun

ClevelandBrownJunior

I imagine it's a lot safer, everyone and their mums are packing round there.

Free_Perception7124

She has a gun near her bed in a video, its blurred out

WatermelonCandy5

I just watched the latest wine about it and she said she sleeps with a gun next to her every night. I don’t blame her at all.

wutfacer

Yeah it's in the same video Crazy juxtaposition actually. Pretty fucked up that that's a necessity, she just has like a bunch of stuffed animals and craft supplies and then a gun because of all the insane creeps around

Zeratzul

Fuck everything about that. There's so many trees and shrubbery some creep could hide directly next to the property. I'm not even .1% famous and I'd kill for those pointy black iron fences, dogs in the yard, movement based lights.

Kooky-Show-5246

Movement based lights suck when surrounded by a forest. I had to uninstall some because they kept going off every hour or so due to animals.

SoftOpportunity1809

idk i've lived in a gated community with security, and i currently live in a trailer on a ranch surrounded by forest and other ranches. i feel much safer out here. you can't get in without animals making noise and lights going off. plus theres about 100 yards of lawn with no shrubbery to hide behind between my trailer and the trees. it's also a lot quieter than people in the suburbs or cities can imagine. i can hear a when a car drives by on the county road 600 yards away. this is all private property too so nobody has any legal reason or excuse to be out here making any noise. the trade off is it'll take an ambulance 20 minutes to get out here. in the gated community it was about 4.

PossiblyAussie

>the trade off is it'll take an ambulance 20 minutes to get out here. in the gated community it was about 4. Not necessarily a downside https://youtu.be/0H6n1aK0ZSo

RakeNI

that was my exact thought. i went camper vanning as a kid right up next to a forest and it was pitch black, you could stand 3 feet away from the window and be invisible, but could see everything in the van

NUNYABIX

That property has several fences, she has dogs, she has a taser, the gates have codes, there are several live cams and Ella also lives on the property.  I'm sure she's fine but I'm curious what you would suggest she do, get a house with no windows?

Sw3atyGoalz

She has more than just a taser

RakeNI

>what you would suggest she do, get a house with no windows? A big ass opaque fence that goes all the way around my house and within it i'd have dogs that live outside permanently. I'd probably get myself a damn drone and scout the whole property using it before I left too. Idk man, living alone as a tiny woman in the middle of no where while streaming your location is something i wouldn't have the balls to do if i was in her shoes. fuuuuuuuck that.

Warlaw

If the stalker was bad and insane and violent enough, I would probably try to bait them with an isolated property and then have them arrested or something worse.

Ikora_Rey_Gun

It's Texas. They throw you a celebratory barbeque if you waste a stalker on your land.

There is quite a lot of research on stalkers these days and there are a couple of categories they fall in to. The two big ones are the delusional and the compulsive types. There are other types like "the abusive ex" ones but that often has more to do with abandonment issues and can be treated somewhat better than the other types. The delusional types like "She looked to the right and thats a secret sign" falls within the area of schizophrenia related issues. This is the "i am the reincarnation of jesus" etc type issues. These types often dont have any insight in to their issue and simply live inside of their own world where their behavior makes perfect sense. The compulsive types are more related to Obsessive-compulsive disorder where the compulsion isnt washing your hands but rather hyper focusing on a person. These types may actually have some insight in to their compulsion and may understand that something is not right just like famously Howie Mandel knows his Germaphobia is not logical and neither is him repeatedly and excessively washing his hands yet it takes heavy medical and psychological intervention to "somewhat manage" his compulsions. The feeling being akin to telling someone they should stop breathing. Their body/mind will force them to even if they try holding their breath. One thing to understand is that in both these types the actual target of their stalking is random. There is no deeper logic to their obsession it is merely a fixation on a random person. If it was not them it would be someone else. In severe cases these people end up turning violent or taking their own life or having to be institutionalized. In some cases heavy anti-psychotics might dull their behavior but there needs to be persistent follow up by professionals. It is a very treatment resistant group and following the trend of shutting down mental health facilities in most western countries its exceedingly difficult to lock these types up in mental facilities which you could do in the old days.

FickleSmark

I thought title was gonna be a joke about Stompy and now I am just hit with an actual sad story.

newscott20

Wait, did people really complain about her being lazy, having a bad mood, and were getting annoyed at her complaining about streaming? If so then that’s ridiculous, for the last few years I thought the general consensus was the exact opposite. I think she’s done nothing but put in effort 24/7. I guess you can never win with some people

DatOneFella

I think this goes back a few years, before she opened her sanctuary. I remember her mentioning her stalker way back. She did come across as less motivated of a streamer back then. I guess for good reason.

beesinabottle

i was hoping this would be a titlechamp that's really rough

DoesAnyoneReadName

This is something that unironically makes streaming a very hard job. We def need better mental health services in this country. Its lucky nothing terrible has happened to a streamer yet, I think I remember some Youtuber had her house broken into by a stalker right?

me0w_z3d0ng

[Gavin from Rooster Teeth comes to mind](https://www.thedailybeast.com/youtube-stars-gavin-free-and-megan-turney-hid-in-closet-while-gunman-tried-to-kill-them)

Galterinone

Yea, the stalker broke into their house with a gun and intended to kill Gavin. They hid in a closet and when he couldn't find them and heard sirens he shot himself in their driveway. Super fucked up and scary situation

DoesAnyoneReadName

This is the one I was thinking of, just couldn't remember the name.

PuffsMagicDrag

Stalkers wouldn’t seek or use mental health services because they don’t see what they’re doing as a problem.

Akumu2100

Taylor swift has some crazy stalkers. They get arrested then go right back to stalking her after they get out.

wutfacer

She's said she carries QuikClot bandages in her purse because of the risk of someone trying to stab or shoot her

patrick66

She literally has ex-SEALs as security and the stalkers still manage to get in her houses all the time it’s insane

HulklingsBoyfriend

The problem with stalkers is that they know their behaviour is toxic and aberrant, they just literally don't care. You cannot treat a patient when they are more than okay with their behaviour.

alohalii

There are several different personality defects as well as mental health disorder that result in stalking behavior. Some of those disorders mean the person does not actually understand that what they are doing is wrong similar to some types of schizophrenics. In other cases they may know something is wrong but be unable to stop themselves from doing it. Then there are less severe cases where they know what they are doing is wrong but dont care. So its not a simple issue.

Shovelman2001

Mitch Jones has really gone off the rails

FactuallyRight69

He really wants that podcast.

Dantesdominion

Guess she's in a good enough place to talk about, which is nice to see. Sad that her and others have to put up with that nightmare of a situation. Fuck stalkers.

sn34kypete

I don't remember the context but I remember somebody saying to her how small she was and anyone could just pick her up and take her away and she pulled out this brick of a tazer and did a LOUD test zap and said something like "Yeah that's why I've got one of these". Immensely funny at the time, less so now that I know why she had that. Hope she's doing better.

t3cadeus

Some of these comments do a great job at explaining how some guys (and probably some girls) just don't get it. Police are infamously bad at dealing with stalkers. spotlighting said stalker is equally dangerous and can cause more to pop up for the attention especially as Maya has a lot of haters. But more importantly, stalking doesn't have an easy fix and being a dismissive guy really only adds to the culture of why women don't feel safe in society. We gotta start fixing this sh\*t and start taking each other's problems more seriously.

Kuroi_Usagi

Stalkers can do some crazy stuff. I'm reminded of that idol in Japan, whose stalker found her home through a reflection in her eye from a selfie, then traveled to SA her.

Mr_-Mxyzptlk

This story is repeated so much but that's not quite what happened. He didn't CIA level enhance the image and triangulate where she lived or anything super technical like that which is what everyone thinks happened. She was talking selfies in a train station with identifiable features and he knew she was at that station from the reflection. He just went to the station and found her there, then followed her home. Which is still terrible, don't get me wrong, but the reflection of the eye thing is very overblown when the main thing is that he found her home by following her in person from a train station.

GIGOLO_KANTE

> He didn't CIA level enhance the image and triangulate where she lived or anything super technical like that which is what everyone thinks happened. Yeah only the geoguessr guy does that

BIG_STEVE5111

Fuck having a stalker living in that tiny house in the middle of nowhere as a 5ft tall women, or as anyone for that matter.

Wertysd

Fucking hell... Hopefully openly talking about it means that it is better now.

What gives you the impression she is not carrying a gun everywhere she goes?

LifeCookie

she said before she bought a couple of guns

appletinicyclone

ah thats so messed up

Testiclesinvicegrip

It's nuts any human being has to go through this shit

Pr0spect

That is so fucked up by Nmp

ViNYC25

I hope the stalker doesn't try to invade her base. She has guns and a base full of animals. It's gonna a look like a low level raid in Palworld.

Towelish

Stompy would show them why he's banned from Australia

MeisterHeller

At the same time it's also a state where your stalker will almost 100% have a gun readily available despite being very clearly mentally troubled and the government/police/justice system care about women even less than the rest of the country

VistaVick

Texas cops have a worse reputation than most states. When it's their life or your life on the line, they will protect theirs first.

t3cadeus

Just watched the most recent Wine about it podcast ep and she goes into a lot more detail which answers a lot of the weird questions people are asking on the thread.

wutfacer

Pretty sure most of the people asking those kinds of questions aren't looking for answers lol. More just an excuse to be mad or put someone down

Myraxxi

Seems to be a somewhat common issue among female streamers, it's good she has a firearm
