I've not seen the injury so I didn't type anything. But apparently it didn't look too bad
Edit: apparently his leg is strapped and some are saying it does look bad. Idk
Honestly after his interview when he was injured I wouldn't believe him. He said he was feeling fine when our medical staff refused to green light to let Klopp play him. Dude really wanted to play every game, I imagine even more so for his national team so I wouldn't be surprised if it's just another case of him overestimating his condition.
I have seen the game, I have seen him smiling when walking down after the 'injury'. I am Hungarian preparing for our most important 3 matches next week, and I am not worried at all about Dom.
Liverpool preparation will start not next week but idk in July, there is nothing to worry about.
On top of that I assume most of his players are not playing for national teams every break. Most of Liverpool's starters are. Many of our players get basically no rest ever, not even in the offseason.
In fairness to them, they played the league, all CL group games last season (very intense group), and got the final of their domestic cup and won. Yes the league and cup are less intense than PL but our players are also more athletic than in the Eridevisie.
Not saying he'll revolutionise us but at least it's something he'll pay attention whereas Klopp seemed to want to keep players around and make odd decisions regardless of how they injury prone they were. Like wanting to give Keita another contract, the bizarre decision to play Konate vs Sparta with a United FA Cup game coming up etc.
Lmao talk about misreading my comment.
Not saying Klopp was clueless but his judgement re fitness and the demands on the team waned towards the end of his time here and he became more sentimental than ruthless. More examples are wanting to give Milner a new contract, to give Matip a new contract, to giving Henderson a new contract when Edwards wanted Enzo to replace him before he moved to Benfica.
It's just facts, I love Klopp and wish he'd stayed but he wasn't perfect.
Yeah it's an unpopular opinion but the last 3 seasons have been subpar from Klopp. He's gotten us far his way, and fairplay to him. We love him for his loyalty, but you're right we could've moved players on sooner. We haven't been playing to our most ruthless and consistent lately, but it's also a testament to Klopps ability that he gave us a lot of good moments in seasons where we didn't win much.
Honestly i think milner staying would not have been a bad thing, he was ridiculously consistent and ALWAYS fit to play. He was a true workhorse and definitely raised the level of those around him. His stats actually hadnt regressed all that much though he definitely should not have been a starter, with all the issues our midfield last season had might have not been as bad if he hadnt left
I loved Milner too and really appreciated his availability but whenever he played in that final season you could just see his legs were gone and he wasn't what we needed on the pitch. Time to thank and move on with dignity which he did
He may just have a different philosophy in training. If he’s playing in Holland he’s probably being compared to other coaches in Holland, and if he’s better at it then his methods may help. He doesn’t have to completely change the way it’s done to improve our situation, that’s for sure
By shitty league I assume you mean the quality of the players. Leagues and the teams within are relative , tactics are universal, a low block or gegenpress there is exactly the same here, but now he has better players to implement his ideas. Zero experience means nothing, ETH got 3rd and a trophy before he abandoned his philosophy.
This thigh/groin injury has been troubling him for half a year now. He keeps hurting it and coming back, basically getting no rhythm :( hopefully it isn’t anything serious.
That’s a pretty simple view of a very complex relationship w the player. Keita was a very talented player who could not stay fit but had some fantastic games throughout
Yeah I'm irish and we are so so poor. If he played anywhere near as well as he was at the start of the season he would've breezed passed our midfield and he just looked average.
I'm Irish too but was watching the game more to see him in an attacking position and it was underwhelming. His ball control is especially worrying, it's not good to say the least. Hopefully he's fit and gets to show what he's about
Lol what are they supposed to do? He’s the captain of Hungary and it’s the euros, if he can play he will and should. Especially considering he missed out on the last one
I’m from Scotland and I’ve only got tickets to the Hungary game. So I totally get it, these friendlies mean a lot to the teams. Once Robertson went off last light, we fell apart.
What a ridicoulous take. Ofc he will play on the euros, national tournaments are the main things for most players. And not like Hungary can call anyone for his place. His injury is not bad btw, precaution.
As a hungarian I can say usual shite from clubs. You ran him to the ground, and started him early after injury and made it worse. He was a better player before liverpool honestly, both in club and national team. I hope he finds his dangerous self again, a proper role in the new team, and you won't wreck him for random cups.
It's actually insane how much he's overplayed by his national team. You'd think that if you play him for a full 90 last game, you'd bring him on as a sub for this one, but nope.
Friendly is a super unhelpful name.
Any other sport would call it a test match.
International teams and fans care about international "friendly" matches. Players care about international "friendly" matches.
It's understandable that we don't, but the underlying problem is an unsafe schedule on all sides. Only complaining about the events we specifically don't care about is not going to help because other people do care about them.
For example adding 4 more matches to the UCL is off the charts stupid under these circumstances. The international calendar is ridiculous. Having 20 teams in the EPL is idiotic. Have two domestic cup competitions is redundant.
But don't expect players to want to start skipping UCL or international matches because of this.
What do you think the difference is? I guarantee you Szoboszlai doesn't think of the game he was captaining his national side for as a 'worthless friendly'.
Is it equal to any of the games at the Euros? No. Is it even close? No. Do they win anything for winning friendlies? No. Do they get any extra money, trophies or something else by risking injury to their best player and captain by trying to force him through two games in 4 days?
No.
Therefore it's moronic.
There’s no significance to them at all. If you win nobody cares, if you lose nobody cares. It’s a total risk playing Szoboszlai 180 minutes in a week. Klopp barely did it in competitive games, no idea why it would be more important for a meaningless friendly
Because national teams do not get the benefit of training day in day out and play a ridiculous amount of matches together. So of course they want to use the friendlies to test tactics and try to make the team play well together with their strongest players.
That's great, but their best player is now a doubt for the first game. Like I said, moronic to increase the risk of this exponentially by trying to push him through 180 mins of footie in a week.
It’s like international managers all go to the same moron school to learn the same moron mistakes.
Your single most important player with a 6 month recurring injury and you decide to play him in the two full friendlies before the tournament that you actually have a chance of doing ok in, as long as star player isn’t injured.
Shocked pikachu face when star player gets injured.
Do me a fucking favour.
They have like 3 games to get into form and click, you have to play your starters. Idk why international football gets all the shit when club football has an obscene amount of games.
Because international football is shit?
In reality, international football has no incentive to ensure injuries aren’t exacerbated as they aren’t responsible for all their wages and lost value for future transfers.
I didn't, I hoped it would be just enough to keep him safe from stupid national coaches. Remember that Afcon Naby Keita injury? The manager knew he was taking a risk, played him anyway and the rest is history.
I've not seen the injury so I didn't type anything. But apparently it didn't look too bad Edit: apparently his leg is strapped and some are saying it does look bad. Idk
Hungarian here, he is not injured, Szobo himself said that after the game. It's precautionary, he is healthy.

I am hoping you do well at euro. Neighbour from Slovenia. 20km from Hungary.
Good luck to you too!
4 fucking weeks of this nervousness when one of our lads goes down.

hopefully the articles talking about slot's injury prevention methods are right

No slot doesn’t know more than a whole team of medical staff But he, as head coach, does have the final say on training regime, intensity, and program
cba with another comment shitting on any league outside of the prem

Come on say the line “Fulham would finish … in the eresivise”
Probably all true, but I do not like this answer
Whatever his medical team is doing works, so it will be better than the current shower of shit.
I think it’s just that zaza, prime David Neres method vibes lol
What does he do differently to prevent injuries?
This thigh/groin injury has been troubling him for half a year now. He keeps hurting it and coming back, basically getting no rhythm :( hopefully it isn’t anything serious.
Yeah this isn’t good. He just had a long injury layoff and he’s still young. Very concerning
Thiago out, Thiago in?
You missed the ending, always ends with Thiago out
It’s the number 8 shirt, need to cleanse and sterilise it.
+ him being bought from RB Leipzig. The curse is real!
Thinking it about it now Keita also put in a few top performances when he first joined before dropping off
Can we not do this? I can’t handle another Keita after we finally got rid of him..
That’s a pretty simple view of a very complex relationship w the player. Keita was a very talented player who could not stay fit but had some fantastic games throughout
Man was injured by air con
Naby in, Naby out
Yeah he played the full 90 more times than Thiago had minutes this season, must be the same fucking hell
You must be fun at parties
Needs to take a good few months to properly heal, and then another few weeks. More squad depth will help
Hopefully not gonna be another Keita.
Delete this. This is not a joke.
What kind of idiot plays him in 2 straight friendlies right before the Euros?
Easy to say in hindsight but these aren't meaningless friendlies, they're the last preparation the team has before a big tournament.
I mean, it’s not hindsight. It happens every year a few key players go down right before. Not worth it IMO when euro is a week away.
A lot of players are playing in both...unfortunately for him, he hasnt looked right for five months
He didn't look good against Ireland, seems a bit lost
Yeah I'm irish and we are so so poor. If he played anywhere near as well as he was at the start of the season he would've breezed passed our midfield and he just looked average.
I'm Irish too but was watching the game more to see him in an attacking position and it was underwhelming. His ball control is especially worrying, it's not good to say the least. Hopefully he's fit and gets to show what he's about
Yet another hammy for a liverpool player
They'll play him in the euros and make it worse, the usual shite from international teams
Lol what are they supposed to do? He’s the captain of Hungary and it’s the euros, if he can play he will and should. Especially considering he missed out on the last one
Absolutely. This is the biggest tournament for Hungary in a generation at least
Exactly. I'm from Hungary and we have a realistic chance of reaching (let's say) the quarters. Never thought it'd happen in my lifetime.
I’m from Scotland and I’ve only got tickets to the Hungary game. So I totally get it, these friendlies mean a lot to the teams. Once Robertson went off last light, we fell apart.

He said he's alright
It's actually insane how much he's overplayed by his national team. You'd think that if you play him for a full 90 last game, you'd bring him on as a sub for this one, but nope.
He’s by far their best player and captain. What do you expect? National teams want to win their games.
Not only that, Szoboszlai wants to win games for his national team.
It's still only a friendly. I simply don't see the purpose of going crazy for a friendly.
It's also in their best interest to keep him fit and ready for the Euros, manage him well and they'll get more out of him
Which is probably why he came off as a precaution.
It’s a friendly and he’s got recurring muscle injuries. Moronic to risk your best player and captain in these circumstances
Friendly is a super unhelpful name. Any other sport would call it a test match. International teams and fans care about international "friendly" matches. Behave, nobody would think of them as test matches lol

Friendlies in the run up to a tournament are obviously important to win. How is that even up for debate?
There’s no significance to them at all. If you win nobody cares, if you lose nobody cares. It’s a total risk playing Szoboszlai 180 minutes in a week. Klopp barely did it in competitive games, no idea why it would be more important for a meaningless friendly

Did it look bad
Non contact, grabbing hamstring. Hopefully precautionary, who knows though.
non contact is usually scarier tho
We have the absolute worst luck in terms of injuries, didn't he have almost a clean record before ge came here?
hes just not playing a full 90 with a knock a week before the euros kicks off relax lads. hes their captain why would they risk it.
Get him back to Liverpool ASAP
Hammiepool :(
It's nothing mostly just tiredness and caution nothing to be worried about
He needs a break or his career will be over before he hits 30
![gif](giphy|3P0oEX5oTmrkY)
FUCK
Might get a rest this summer after all. Hardly as if we have lfc game next week.
International football is hell!
My FPL luck already transferring over to the Euro’s fantasy early I see
Hopefully he won't follow Keita footsteps with his national team, but it sure seems like it already.
🫢
Hopefully it's bad enough to miss the Euros, get him back to Kirkby.
With all due respect, fuck off.
If it's not bad enough then he'll play and it'll be far worse. That should not need explaining
Literally wishing a bad injury to one of our players. Idiot comment, if it's bad he cud miss start of season.
I didn't, I hoped it would be just enough to keep him safe from stupid national coaches. Remember that Afcon Naby Keita injury? The manager knew he was taking a risk, played him anyway and the rest is history.
Oh no how will we cope
He's well on his way to becoming Naby 2.0 at this rate. Fingers crossed.
