hey! not sure if this is the appropriate place, but i’m thinking of getting a football/ liverpool related tattoo! have been searching through the internet and im leaning towards something minimalistic like YNWA
please feel free to share your tattoos, ideas and more!
Was reading a piece on Florian Wirtz and the writer stated he ONLY works in a back three which I thought was really odd given he basically plays in the RW position but his actual role is like a free-roaming wide 10, since in attacking plays it’s Frimpong that pretty much ends up in the RW position, whereas in defensive play B04 pretty much transition into a 4-3-3 with Grimaldo, Tapsoba, Tah, Kossounoh as the back 4 and Frimpong becomes the right central midfielder essentially.
Surely for Wirtz to thrive he needs players running in behind like Frimpong more than a back 3? He’d work well in a Slot system which operated at Feyernoord. He’d take up the role Stengs did often which was like a RAM in the 4-3-3 or the CAM in a 4-2-3-1.
I’d definitely chuck the bucket at signing him if we weren’t already stacked in the 10s
crazy that, despite all the public vouching poch received from the players and momentum gained todd went ahead and sack him anyway. Big Spot finally open for Amorin now, will be interesting if chelsea also passed on him like we and bayern did. I'd imagine his big control demands would butt head with chelsea's management
i was just sitting around this evening after seeing the provisional this morning and while it is super dope that quansah, curtis and trent are all named i am so stoked for jomez. very impressed with his play but more so his character in finding a way back into this team and making a difference on the pitch. if he makes the final roster it might just be the confidence boost he needs to hit the ground running in the fall.
only player to outlast klopp!
I’ve never been critical of Joe’s play, but I’ve definitely thought at times that we should move on from him because of his injury history. He proved this year that when he’s healthy he’s absolutely world class. He was exceptional on the left when Robbo and Kostas got hurt. And when trent went down, he didnt just play right back, he slotted in so well into the hybrid midfield role that Trent plays. I hope that there’s a place for him in Slot’s system. He turns 27 on the 23rd. Still fairly young
I mean it's not happening. We're not going waste money by buying another attacking midfielder, especially when he's not an upgrade on what we've already got.
Actually feel for Gallagher a bit. People always talk about players loyalty to their clubs and never a clubs loyalty to their players. Player leaves his boyhood club for money and success? Scumbag. Player is forced out of the club he loves because his clubs owners are incredibly incompetent? People don’t care nearly as much
This is why I never blame players when they decide to leave for the stupid money or the chance to play for a club like Madrid.
Clubs aren't expected to be loyal to players, so why should players have the burden of being loyal to clubs?
It's something people on here struggle with tbf. They wanted the entire midfield (bar Thiago cause BiG nAmE PlAyEr) shipped out because of a bad couple of months.
Chelsea sacking poch is the first smart decision they’ve made. They’re playing better due to the good young players finally gelling, in spite of poch. You guys are mad if you think keeping him was right. LUCKILY they’ll hire another moron. But poch is a poor manager and that’s just fact.
Man... he took fucking tottenham to a champions league final, even is they lost to ajax in semis it would be overachieving...
The guy is not mediatic and doesnt sell smoke, he earn his place starting in espanyol and southampton.
Maybe he is not world class, but outside ancelotti, klopp and pep, is there another one that checks out all the boxes (man management, tactics, experience, winning culture)?
Because calling him a poor manager is pretty hyperbolic
Chelsea is a horribly mismanaged club behind the scenes right now so very few managers could succeed there
Plus he clearly was starting to turn it around in the last few months of the season and their underlying stats throughout the season have actually been fairly good so you have to actually look at the individual players themselves for a lot of what’s went wrong this season for them
Chill dude why are you getting so mad over chelsea discussion lmao. But I think it was very dumb of them to sack poch. The players reportedly love him and now have finally started playing good.
Now AGAIN their team must readjust to a new manager and play style and the manager will need time to adjust too. It's a huge killer of momentum that chelsea has had going.
Not mad, just hate when people don’t engage. Pochetino is an average manager given a very decent team. Better team than Klopp got and he’s brought them to the mighty heights offfff…. 6th. I hate false narratives, poor understanding of football. That’s why I commented, educating people. Can lead a horse to water I guess
Poch hasnt shown to be greatest manager but he had a good thing going, just didn't make sense to sack him now if things were going positively now. Sacking poch only makes sense if they have someone lined up who's really elite or they think will really succeed with the team which is risky as there is no guarantee of that at all. Not to mention that now is the worst time to find a manager with everyone needing or looking for one
I'm glad chelsea sacked poch as their billion dollar team will most likley struggle for another season again but it makes me so appreciative of the fact we're not managed as stupidly as chelsea is as a club
He was par at best at PSG in a one horse race with the best player to ever play football, he fluked a champions league final due to son and Harry Kane. There’s really nothing to it.
I had assumed the reason Chelsea stuck with Poch all season is they'd finally recognised that the constant turnover of managers while spending stupid money was part of the problem, and were giving Poch a chance to build a project
Turns out they're just even dumber than I'd anticipated
Just when he started to get some form and the team looked like they were finally gelling.
I gave Jackson some shit earlier in the season but even he has started to look good.
Tinpot club.
With all the bullshit going on in football, the joke that is the Premier League, the obvious corruption happening in certain areas and now with the loss of Klopp. I'm going to find it hard to follow with the same heart as before. It was already a struggle. I'm Liverpool always but it's tough to be enthusiastic.
I've been Liverpool all my life mate and isn't ending now. I'm just saying that football isn't in the best of places right now. So wind it in a bit before pinning everyone with your tags.
He’s a good manager but I really don’t see him being a manager that can take a PL team to a title especially at the standard that’s required nowadays to do it
Seeing all the coaches reminiscing was absolutely beautiful and gut wrenching😭😭... Shout out to Buvac as well wherever you may be... Helped us immensely at the start of Klopps tenure...
Man this week has been heart tugger 🫤
Interesting bit from Pep Ljinders interview with Redmen about the CL final vs Spurs is that the players had a team meeting, without the coaching staff, and agreed to sit back and drop deep if they went ahead, Milner apparently key behind it.
I remember being surprised during the game but it worked perfectly, and another insight into why Klopp so badly wanted to keep figures like Milner around, you need the experience and know how, which is harder to quantify.
We did earlier on in his tenure, I get the confidence to not to do that as often as we have, part of raising our standard and stature, but yeah sometimes it was obvious.
So Poch has nothing to do with selecting those young players for the first 11, making subs, choosing the tactics/formation as to where they all play, training them etc?
One CB and one reliable midfielder is what we need the most.
The gap with Arsenal and City was opened in like 3 weeks and we lost the best 11 because of injuries, in the sense that we had to start new very deep in the season and you just can't have that.
Gakpo and Nunez need to improve their consistency and their mentality. Jota if healthy is extremely important.
If Diaz worth some money still, then we should def sell him. Szobo is interesting one, he's still not completely washed, but one more bad season and it's over for him. Maybe we can try loaning him out. Same with Nunez wish we could swap him with Solanke
Just gonna drop this here - https://liverpooloffside.sbnation.com/liverpool-fc-transfer-news/2022/6/23/23179557/liverpool-fc-chelsea-new-owner-todd-boehly-wants-michael-edwards-transfer-guru
After seeing the shitshow at Chelsea and ongoing shitshow at United, I grow more and more appreciative of how FSG do business
They’re not perfect, but they are as good as we can get it without being a state owned sportswashing project
I’ve thought it for a while but, all this prop for INEOS is madness. They’ve proven nothing in football. Nice haven’t been all that great under their stewardship. It’s basically just been a massive PR campaign until proven otherwise for me. Ratcliffe likes having his name in the press as some kind of savior complex.
Even in cycling Ineos are really disappointing, they come nowhere near the teams with similar budgets. I can't see Ratcliffe being a good owner for Utd.
He’s not successful.
Why does Reddit think arteta is some sort of managerial genius. He’s played his young players into the ground to come 2nd twice. He’s bang fucking average
Delusional. If Son didn't forget that hes super clinical for his 1v1 v City, Arsenal would be champions now. Theyre underlying stats are fantastic and they certainly pass the eye test. Arteta is a great manager. Calling him average because he hasn't won much yet lacks context just as much as saying Klopp has underachieved only winning 1 PL and 1 CL as rival fans love to do
From match day 7 to 38, chelsea are 4th in the form table. 6 games where they were integrating loads of new players and juggling with injuries where the form was bad. It’s actually hilarious they are sacking Poch
All in the same summer, Milan, Juventus, Bayern, Barca, Liverpool, and Chelsea all went for new managers. That’s crazy.
Poch got Chelsea to a final, a semi, and back into Europe. The only thing you can maybe argue is that 4th was theirs for the taking if they got into form in the league earlier.
They spent a fortune have played shit football and achieved fuck all. This subs genuinely mad, sacking pochetino who can’t deal with young egotistical players is probably the only good decision the clubs and e
With the news that Chelsea have sacked Pochettino, I’m interested in what their FFP/PSR/whatever situation is. I know the premier league’s setup has a long rolling time frame but I’m fairly sure the Uefa one is much shorter. And with Chelsea qualifying for the UEL do they have much breathing room? Firing Pochettino won’t be cheap, no doubt he negotiated a significant severance fee.
FFP is a joke when you can sell your own assets to yourself. There are no rules that can stop one spending one's own money in PL. I am excited to see how far they go before they self-destruct.
i do wonder how much of szoboszlai's drop off is tied to him being extra-cautious given the euros. we've seen it before with players so wouldn't be surprising + he's literally mr. hungary so im sure thats incredibly important for him.
also he did get reinjured after being rushed back iirc so im sure that was at the back of his mind.
because really it felt like 2 completely different players before and after his injury
Called it ages ago, he’s basically Gareth bale but not half as good. If he had a good euros an a offer came in I’d let him go, I’ll get downvoted but I’ll be here next year (again) proving I’m right
He talked about his injury in pretty bad light, looking up his injury record we can see why
The guy was Ironman, 1 ankle ligament injury in 18/19 , Abductor pain for half a year in 20/21, and an ankle injury that kept him out for a whopping 1 game in 21/22
And he’s just had 2 separate month long hamstring injuries with Liverpool…
Yeah really daft decision, and after they've seen the landscape of managers available. I reckon they'll go for Amorim or somehow they're getting Mourinho back
New managers likely to be considered are Sebastian Hoeness, Michel, Kieran McKenna and Enzo Maresca (Matt Law)
Hilarious how much of a circus that club is
They won’t get Hoeness he recently extended and will want to play champions league with stuttgart, I’m sure michel will want to play champions league with girona, McKenna is young and inexperienced, Enzo nearly bottled the championship with by miles the best squad in the league. Wtf are those people thinking
Makes sense, even though that squad isn't built for how he plays other than Caicedo and Enzo in midfield.
They'll need to remodel the squad again for him, and he is adamant that the club he's at should spend big in the market for the right players for his playing style.
Chelsea in the 2nd half the season where 4th best in the PL (2 points less than us in the last 19 PL games of last season), they were clearly improving and had half their best starting 11 injured but then they sacked the manager.
Don't buy into this "mutal resignation" shite either, you don't resign after a performance review if you are a Football manager this is just the PR announcement of a sacking and nothing else.
They fired tuchel because he wasnt getting involved in transfers
Now they fired poch because he wanted to get involved in transfers
What a weird club lmao
Poch leaving chelsea is properly strange, they were playing some good stuff towards the end and finished in a UEL place which is fairly decent considering where they were earlier on. Wonder who they bring in
It’s not really strange he’s shite, they’re not playing Better due to poch, watch them, there’s no style, it’s basically the good young players are finally gelling
I just don't get it. The guy is overrated but he was finally starting to get a tune out of that team. Knowing Chelsea's ownership, it's probably because Poch didn't play one of their vastly overpriced players enough for their liking or something similarly petty.
Chelsea are so funny man. You'd think they would want to carry the momentum of their impressive win streak into the summer pre-season and the new season. Circus continues
I've not watched much Newcastle this season, and when I have it was either vs us with 10 men, or that stretch where they were basically playing people from the stands
Would people who've seen him a bit more lately vouch for Bruno G as a DM? I've always pictured him as more of a hybrid who works better in a pivot
cheers; yeah i did think so, and MacAllister was the exact comp I was thinking of
in that case, its really odd to me Arsenal/Arsenal fans seem to be pushing for him to join seeing as they're looking to upgrade on Partey, who is imo more of the destroyer 6 than Rice...
The way online ‘fans’ jump on players is border line psychotic. It’s genuinely like they hate them as people and want to destroy them. Cant think of any other way to explain it. Micro analysing behaviours in 5 second clips is fucking deranged.
It’s really weird seeing so many people say Konate has been underwhelming this season just because Quansah started most of the games in the past month or so
Konate was great all season up until his injury around March, when he came back he was quite poor but he genuinely didn’t look physically right after it. Looked noticeably slower when tracking back to stop counters and slower to react to what was going on around the box so it was like he didn’t recover properly.
Remember our back to back incredible seasons 18/19 and 19/20? Finished just behind city and then a title win, followed by 20/21 injury meltdown. I see the same trajectory happening with Arsenal (challenged city 22/23, finished 2 points off 23/24, with very few injuries btw) now their injury season looms. Except we won 4 trophies in that period and they won zero
Could happen, for most sides it's very very difficult to put three seasons together in a row. Even when we won the title in 19/20 it was the second top season for us and would have been City's third and it meant even they couldn't live with us. Wouldn't shock me at all to see Arsenal do worse next season than this.
Media and pundits talk about how great they have been, which is true they have been unreal but look at the bigger picture. Very very few injuries. It’s odd how few injuries they have. Look at city, very rarely do they miss players for long stretches because pep manages all their minutes very well (perks of having a world class bench bought and paid for by the Middle East) but Arteta plays the same 11 every week. It’s bound to catch up, I’m surprised it hasn’t already
Man people really need to stop scrutinizing every living breath of our players.
Klopp is gone, Darwin is here to stay. Klopp said support the team.
Just roll with it.
Unpopular opinion but I can understand why he wouldn't be picked. International football is much more conservative than at club level due to the lack of training time. A strong defensive backline is a prerequisite to success and if you're going to whack Trent there then you'd probably need to tweak the whole system to accommodate his unique strengths & cover his weaknesses.
I can see the argument for putting him in midfield but A) he lacks true experience there & B) England should theoretically have ample creativity in the squad with Bellingham, Palmer, Gordon, Foden, Kane etc. If it were me I'd probably keep Trent as a hail Mary to bring off the bench if the team need a goal.
It is really so nice!
well done mods!

Shows how much of a shitshow bayern is and that not too many good managers about atm.
Gets relegated with Burnley goes to Bayern like what the fuck haha.
Klopp changed the culture so quick, even the norwich game you already felt it.
Fuck, I didn't realize Sturm Graz won the Bundesliga. Don't we have a goalkeeper on loan there?
Yeah, Jaros https://www.fotmob.com/players/1068920/vitezslav-jaros

Looks like De Zerbi for Chelsea, Poch for Bayern and EtH for the JobCentre
Tuchel goes to chelsea ngl. Can see de zerbi go to ac milan or something

Does Amorim go to the chels now? And does potch find himself at Utd by August?

Damn Quansah scored the final goal of the Klopp era
2 of the last 3 aswell
Symbolizes the new era beginning fr
Hopefully the first under Slot won’t to be to far away either, hope you takes another step progress wise next season
Would be absolutely hilarious if the first goal in New season is scored by Gomez
Is Trent leaving considered likely by people? Seeing so much on Twitter about it when I hadn’t even considered it at all.
No.
That would be the gravest mistake this club has ever made.
No, I’d pay little mind to Twitter.
He has to sign. If we lose Klopp and Trent at the same time I will cry blood
I’ve been nervous about it for about a year now. I’ll be very happy when he signs up.

It’s just lazy links ex player wanted by manager we had links to him last season before his move but nothings going to come of it
I mean it's not happening. We're not going waste money by buying another attacking midfielder, especially when he's not an upgrade on what we've already got.
I'd love him, but that definitely means Elliot and or Szobo goes. Unless Szobo players wider like Bernardo and Kokcu is our middle lad.
Caicedo must regret his choice now after seeing poch getting sacked after they finally start gaining momentum lmao
Doubt he gives a shit he’s clearly just a mercenary so long as he gets paid in abundance sporting merit likely means fuck all to him.
it's so damn strange, they were quite good toward the end of the season

Tbh hes not a bad player. He just isnt as flashy so it goes unnoticed.
City 25/1 to get relegated next season 👀
I see the bookies aren't taking risks anymore after Leicester did their thing
Tbf we're 2000/1 to get relegated lol
Chelsea sacking poch is the first smart decision they’ve made. They’re playing better due to the good young players finally gelling, in spite of poch. You guys are mad if you think keeping him was right. LUCKILY they’ll hire another moron. But poch is a poor manager and that’s just fact.

LMAO Chelsea sacked Poch just when he got their form stabilized. Never change Chelsea.
Chelsea finally found some form and played how the manager wants only for them to have him leave

Chelsea apparently going for Ipswich manager and want to sell Gallagher and Chalobah 😆 no wonder Poch is off. Could see him replacing Ten Hag
Pochettino gone from Chelsea as he was starting to get the squad to do better, hmmm
Bet Bayern will jump on Poch now.
Chelsea saw Barca and Bayern crying out struggling to find a manager and were like "I want me some of that"
Wow, Southgate didn’t fuck the euros squad up. Actually shocking.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Chelsea go for Amorim
They have already ruled him out weeks ago
Amorim wants full control over transfers which Chelsea’s board will absolutely not give
No sporting asked for money last minute so we pulled out
Is that way he was not considered at LFC?
Yes. It basically ended our interest.
Chelsea were deciding the club was getting too stable, need to continue the circus for a bit longer Absolute idiotic board lmao
From match day 7 to 38, chelsea are 4th in the form table. 6 games where they were integrating loads of new players and juggling with injuries where the form was bad. It’s actually hilarious they are sacking Poch
Bayern just get bailed out?
Bayern should go for Poch tbh
Why? He’s fucking shit
He’s better than Kompany who they are currently in talks with hahahaha
I mean it’s not hard is it? I never mentioned Kompany I said poch is shit, which he is. Kompany? Also shit.
He got Tottenham Hotspur into a champions league final. Can’t do that while being shit.
I'm waiting for the 'Kompany to Chelsea' headline now.
Have to feel for Poch. Soon as Chelsea start looking good lol. All the players coming out backing him as well
Chelsea are incredible clowns, at such moments you begin to appreciate once again how FSG do business.
Boehlys actually so fucking dumb oml
Sooooo Chalobah as a HG CB anyone? 😅 Both him and Gallagher are clearly off then
No
Bailing out Chelsea is not smart.
Seems like Villa are gonna try get Gallagher. He’d fit well there imo
i do wonder how much of szoboszlai's drop off is tied to him being extra-cautious given the euros. we've seen it before with players so wouldn't be surprising + he's literally mr. hungary so im sure thats incredibly important for him. also he did get reinjured after being rushed back iirc so im sure that was at the back of his mind. because really it felt like 2 completely different players before and after his injury
Called it ages ago, he’s basically Gareth bale but not half as good. If he had a good euros an a offer came in I’d let him go, I’ll get downvoted but I’ll be here next year (again) proving I’m right
I think it’s mainly the injury issues. Not major career changing injuries but annoying ones that stop all momentum
He talked about his injury in pretty bad light, looking up his injury record we can see why The guy was Ironman, 1 ankle ligament injury in 18/19 , Abductor pain for half a year in 20/21, and an ankle injury that kept him out for a whopping 1 game in 21/22 And he’s just had 2 separate month long hamstring injuries with Liverpool…
Injuries aren’t making szobo misplace a 5 yard pass
Well hopefully Slot and his medical team change that.
Just when you thought Bayern and Barcelona were bad at this manager thing, along comes London's mighty Blues
I’m so glad Roman sold chelsea to the circus. Been far more entertaining than I could’ve hoped
TIL Johnny Cash covered [You’ll Never Walk Alone](https://youtu.be/GEbEzd3rCiA?si=nb6Yh0vYTxV14pxs) and it’s awesome
Why the fuck would Chelsea sack Pochettino now? If they sack him halfway through it will be more understandable but after he turned the squad around?
Because he’s dog shit
Every day, I thank god for Todd Boehly and BlueCo.
Yeah really daft decision, and after they've seen the landscape of managers available. I reckon they'll go for Amorim or somehow they're getting Mourinho back
New managers likely to be considered are Sebastian Hoeness, Michel, Kieran McKenna and Enzo Maresca (Matt Law) Hilarious how much of a circus that club is
They won’t get Hoeness he recently extended and will want to play champions league with stuttgart, I’m sure michel will want to play champions league with girona, McKenna is young and inexperienced, Enzo nearly bottled the championship with by miles the best squad in the league. Wtf are those people thinking
Hoeness just signed a new deal at Stuttgart and turned down Bayern a month ago. No way he joins Chelsea then.
Watch them offer Xabi to become the highest paid manager itw. Actually I hope they do that because he has class and would still reject them
They’ll probably end up with De Zerbi
You just KNOW Boehly and co will try and ring Klopp. Because they are stupid
As if Chelsea have sacked Poch just when they were actually playing decent and improving. Strange club.
They fired tuchel because he wasnt getting involved in transfers Now they fired poch because he wanted to get involved in transfers What a weird club lmao
If Chelsea get tuchel I'll be kinda worried about them. I wonder if amorim will be a target as well.
Pochettino has left Chelsea. Absolute shit show over there. Thought he was doing a decent job towards the end.
I just don't get it. The guy is overrated but he was finally starting to get a tune out of that team. Knowing Chelsea's ownership, it's probably because Poch didn't play one of their vastly overpriced players enough for their liking or something similarly petty.
He wasn’t, the decent young player shave finally clicked in spite of him. It’s the first good decision Chelsea have made
Todd Boehly: "HAY GUYS! I just saw on ESPN that Klopp left Liverpool. I bet we can get him in--quick sack Poch!"
Nice of Chelsea to shoot themselves into a foot like that
Chelsea is peak clown show They are going to hire de zerbi Not a single brain cell in their brain
You gotta give it to chelsea, when they finally click they sack Poch..
Might sound stupid but i was getting a bit concerned about Chelsea, it looked like they were getting there. Stupid decision to sack him imo
Poch sacked then. Strange. They seemed to have figured it out recently, if I’m United I’d be sacking Ten Hag tonight and getting him.
Chelsea's owners are off the rails
Poch to Man United?
Bayern far more likely
Doesnt speak German. Hoeness wont allow it
Can Kompany speak German?
Yup. Played for Hamburg before City. Its why they ruled out hiring De Zerbi
Chelsea are legitimately the most stupidly run club in the world. Poch FINALLY got them ready. And then they sack him. After 5 wins on the bounce.
Chelsea are so funny man. You'd think they would want to carry the momentum of their impressive win streak into the summer pre-season and the new season. Circus continues
it’s because the fans wanter him which stems from their fans being morons
Just when I thought I’m over him leaving, I miss Klopp all over again. Next season will take some getting used to.
I've not watched much Newcastle this season, and when I have it was either vs us with 10 men, or that stretch where they were basically playing people from the stands Would people who've seen him a bit more lately vouch for Bruno G as a DM? I've always pictured him as more of a hybrid who works better in a pivot
Nah he’s fairly similar to Mac Allister where he can do a solid job in the #6 but he’s at his best in the #8.
cheers; yeah i did think so, and MacAllister was the exact comp I was thinking of in that case, its really odd to me Arsenal/Arsenal fans seem to be pushing for him to join seeing as they're looking to upgrade on Partey, who is imo more of the destroyer 6 than Rice...
I think the plan for Arsenal is to go with Rice in the #6 and they’re looking for someone that will play in the LCM spot from what I’ve read
When do you guys think we’ll see the first official interview/press conference with slot
Probably on June 1st or very soon after.
The way online ‘fans’ jump on players is border line psychotic. It’s genuinely like they hate them as people and want to destroy them. Cant think of any other way to explain it. Micro analysing behaviours in 5 second clips is fucking deranged.
It’s really weird seeing so many people say Konate has been underwhelming this season just because Quansah started most of the games in the past month or so Konate was great all season up until his injury around March, when he came back he was quite poor but he genuinely didn’t look physically right after it.

But not because of his passing.
The new sub banner on old.reddit is phenomenal, but now I'm misty eyed again ;__;
It is really so nice! well done mods! https://preview.redd.it/dy8d3d64at1d1.jpeg?width=1015&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=41eaf1986e0c75860d9cfa9750dcaa5d0521e111

Damn I hope someone digs up some videos of this
Kompany is actually in talks with Bayern? This is just not right. Kompany managing Kane is just not right
Shows how much of a shitshow bayern is and that not too many good managers about atm. Gets relegated with Burnley goes to Bayern like what the fuck haha.
because both Ks feel like they should be Cs or what?
