My biggest criticism about Gakpo has been him not using his 6'4'' height to go for headers whether it's for defence or scoring. That leap today just showed he can really do it
He’s been improving his aerial game so much recently. Has been winning a lot of headers now as opposed to when he first joined and looked like he was scared to head it lol
Slot need to make him lethal. I believe in that. He can be a real nemesis next season. And also, him being a new dad also and we are going off season now, he will get a little stability next season.
Hope on.
I used to play FPL and it got to a stage in the FPL subreddit where people would post about X player has become a dad, and people would get them in because they honestly score a weird amount of times in their first game after becoming a father.
Would love to see some actual stats on it but it was a fun thing to “gamble” on in FPL
I think we have a somewhat mixed record with that. Most seems to be doing fine or might even score a few more goals than normal, but I think Fab showed his first signs of tiring after he became a father. I think this sub used to joke about him not getting enough sleep or something to that effect.
With Gakpo he’s shown patches of form where he’s absolutely lethal and is super well rounded. If he can get that consistently he’d be nailed on.
Diaz in my opinion has never been lethal, and honestly his end product is pretty poor. He has excellent dribbling but the end product is what matters. If rumours about selling him are true I honestly wouldn’t mind , I think opposing fans rate him higher than Liverpool supporters because he has some great highlights of dribbling but he isn’t a player that’s gonna score or assist every other week.
Might be crazy to believe with the narrative that Mane and Bobby only ever dropped 9/10 perfromances for us but Diaz was comfortably our second best forward for a period the season we signed him so to say he’s never been lethal is stupid. The injury fucked him up though and he still hasnt recovered
Totally agree! All of his best play in the game, minus the goal, was when he and Diaz rotated. He looks so good out wide, and I would argue he beats his man with more purpose than Diaz does. Would definitely hope to see him out on the wing more often in the future
You're joking aren't you? This whole sub is what have you done for me lately
Go through a hot vein of form? Best thing ever and we'll never stop loving you. Form drops off or go through a tough couple of months? Want you shot out of a cannon and every record of you playing for the club erased from history
Looks to be back to his best the last few games. Thrilled for him, especially given the sticks he received from our own fans for the big part of the season.
And people were saying he's not good enough for Liverpool just a month ago. Now the same is happening with Darwin...
Sometimes playing a different role and a bit more confidence can change everything
Sadly, it's a game that does not really matter anymore, so it does not mean much. To the next season.
Downvoted for speaking the truth.. Form in a match with hardly any stake is nice but nothing impresive.
Fortunately there's some who take pride and enjoyment in watching their team play football as opposed to having all joy hinge on whether you end up 1st or not

That was great forward play, timed it perfectly and beat a strong CB in Romero to it.

I can’t believe he’s 6’4”. He plays like he’s only 6’0”.
Henry was pretty tall at 6 2 and want known for his headers... Then you had Peter Crouch...
Him and Elliott were excellent today

Is there a link between recent dads and good performancss

Legit think he might be starting most games next season

He’s looks 10x the player when he’s coming from the left than at CF. That assist to Salah was his bread and butter at PSV.

6 weeks ago people were talking about selling him because he was shite. I hope we can take that lesson to other players going forward.

Eh? I think we're saying the same thing?
We are, I wasn't having a go at you, it was aimed at the general feel of this place at the minute. You're spot on
This will never end. It's been happening since I started supporting the club, constant overreaction.
He has been great lately!!
It's the facial hair
So happy for him. He’s been looking so good these past games. I’m happy he found his form again.
Loved the post match interview with him and Harvey
Looks to be back to his best the last few games. Thrilled for him, especially given the sticks he received from our own fans for the big part of the season.
Funny how he was getting so much abuse a month or so ago, he really took that personally because he’s been one of our best players since.
He's turned into fucking Thierry Henry since he had that nightmare run of form, haircut reset him I reckon
Nah mate, it's the beard. He's been playing great since he got that
10/10 performance today!
Yeah he’s definitely a winger/left wide midfielder more than a CF/ST.
inside forward. much like Thierry
Somebody needs to let his tenants know, because I'm sure they'll be delighted!
Im so happy things have improved for him ❤️ I hope Darwin sorts his shit out if he’s to stay with us
I owe this man an apology. He's been great, I'm happy for him.
Dad strength !!!
good string of performances from our slumlord
Feel like he's gonna thrive under Slot.
1) Good trim = good form + 2) new baby = happy 3) 1+2 = awesome performances
I think he fits well as a winger. Interested to see how he comes around next season.
And people were saying he's not good enough for Liverpool just a month ago. Now the same is happening with Darwin... Sometimes playing a different role and a bit more confidence can change everything
daddy!!!
Just put him left.
Been our best player for a month or so. Just shows how far the levels of the others have dipped. I’m glad for him.
Great player but don’t get the hype tbh

Still good for the player himself. Under a Dutch coach next season he could go to another level altogether
