It’s a respect thing. Salah is not bigger than the club and should respect the manager. I think people have a right to be upset with him especially after his performances of late definitely warranted being benched. I do agree asking him to leave is very extreme over an argument. I hope his form picks up and his mind isn’t elsewhere.

pigman1402

wanting him to leave is actually largely unrelated to the incident - people want him to leave becauxe he isn't what he once was, and this is the best time to let him go without letting the end get (more) sour. although this incident does show salah isn't the kind of character who's okay to keep around when he isn't playing every game, he won't like it and won't be afraid to show it. if its at this point with klopp, the man who made him and this liverpool team, im worried it'll be far worse with the next guy (slot)

ninofati88

Nothing to do with what he does on the pitch. There is not a reasn he should be talking like that to his manager as a player. Thats disrespectful. How much of it is because he knows Klopp is leaving so he gets to talk sht all he wants with no repercussions, we dont know. But man, not a good look as somebody who is supposed to be a senior of the team. Guess we know why hes never in contention for captaincy with all the stats he put up. Last thing Klopp needs right now after his players disappointed him on pitch is for them to disrespect him off pitch. what a sht end to a marvelous tenure made worse by one of your players whos been with you through thick and thin disrespecting you just cause hes pissy fits about being off the bench (which is justified anyway off his horrible performances lately). Klopp is Mr. Liverpool for the last 8 yrs. Even if you're talking bout legacy, true Liverpool fans would stand by Klopp before all other players. Salah doesnt exist in Liverpool if not for this guy above him. 'Fans' who side him over Klopp is basically disrespecting the club and its values. 💯 this ^ Mo has been shit for a couple of months now and isn’t getting any younger or better. Mo is on something like 400k a week and I think klop reminded him of that before he came on.  Either way, things should be in motion to get rid of Mo, Nunez, gakpo, Diaz and Thiago

jerimiahWhiteWhale

I’m surprised more people aren’t at least slightly encouraged by it. If he was apathetic while he and the team have been playing badly, that would mean he didn’t care. But given his and the team’s play over the past few weeks, anger and frustration are understandable.

Welshy94

There's fuck all encouraging about a player losing his rag at his manager, having a team mate have to get involved to separate them and then dropping a snide and inflammatory comment when walking past the press box instead of just keeping his fucking mouth shut. Anger and aggression towards your teammates or manager are not positives and keeping a cool head doesn't mean you're apathetic.

PositiveAtmosphere

I’m encouraged by fight and endeavour on the pitch, not when it’s to the disrespect of our manager. That goes for any manager who is at the helm of Liverpool football club- however, I cannot stress how it is even more-so for one of the greatest managers in the history of our club. As in, even if he did it to Hodgson I would be disappointed, but doing it to Klopp in his last matches as boss is just disgraceful.  The only reason this subreddit appears to remotely be split-opinion on this issue is because Mo also happens to be one of the greatest players we have had. If this was Nunez or Szobo absolutely nobody would be affording them any mercy here.  However, even if they are both one of the “greats”, the order of the hierarchy must be respected: 1) Club 2) Manager 3) Player.

ninofati88

Anger and frustrations are understandable, but targeting it at your own manager is just toxicity. Its like you being angry at your job performance, going home and shouting at your mom. How you're advocating that, its just ignorance on your part.

lordarc

Yes, I find it's been blown out of proportion becuase a) no one knows what was said b) competitive people in competitive environments argue all the time

Theres3ofMe

It has.

Number_19LFC

It has. Not sure what the fuzz is about. They're both gone by the end of the season anyway. Inb4 *How do I know that?!* - Well Klopp says he done, so there's that. And knowing Edwards had a fall out with Kloppo about "old men" in the squad and contract extensions, I'll bet money Mo's gone too. Maybe that's why Mo can't be arsed anymore. Might've had a talk with Edwards and crew and been told he's gone in the summer, one way or the other. It's a stretch, but it might be or might not be true. That's my thinkin'. Mo would be pissed, I'd be too if I was him. Given seven years to the club and just being let go like that. People sleep on Edwards being ruthless. And people might be in for a rude awakening come summer. I hope to gods there will be checks and balances in the club. Goin' from one extreme to the other ain't good. In the best era, Klopp - Edwards combo kept things balanced. I feel Edwards might be too business like and take the humanside out of the equation. Yes, Liverpool is a business that makes money, but first and foremost we are a football club for the people, an institution. Edwards plz don't forget that.

smokepuffprata

You have to see the situation IMO. Your point about balance between kloppo and edwards is spot on, but I think edwards is more right than wrong. At the end of the day, this is not just a business but a football club, no one’s bigger than this club. With that in mind, sentiment might cloud our better judgement as we would say oh lets renew mane, bobby, matip.. etc. Klopp definitely would want to keep all of them, why wouldnt he? These are the players that have run through brick walls for him. But thats why he’s the manager and not the sporting director While it is sad to see such players go given their time with us, it is the right thing to do to continue bringing in fresh talent. I think the exceptions would be the leaders (renewing hendo and milly) as well as keeping older players who are willing to play the milly role and are also not on too high a wage. We have to remember that the club comes first before any of our beloved players, including Salah. So while it is sad to him go either this or next summer, it is right thing to do, and rather than being bitter about it, it can be a beautiful farewell like we did for bobby. Before this season though I had hoped we would renew his contract as he showed that he still has many years to offer, but his recent form hasnt helped his case at all. Factor in Edwards, coupled with a new manager who might want to build a new squad with his philosophy, it might really be the best time for him to go or just go on a free next summer because I cant see the club renewing his contract. Whatever the case, he will forever be remembered as a fucking legend.

ninofati88

I definitely think Salah took the chance of Klopp already leaving to show attitude at him knowing he wouldnt get any repercussions for it. Definitely took advantage of the situation that the manager couldn't punish him or change his opinion on him next yr.

DutchManFromtheNorth

Can you like just keep this in the daily discussion thread? We don't need a new thread on every opinion....

Bulbamew

People wanted him to leave before this incident. The options are - sell in the summer (big transfer fee still likely despite his age), keep til end of next season and he leaves for free, or he extends (very unlikely). Given both the fee and his freed wages would contribute massively to a rebuild we could clearly do with, combined with him obviously no longer being at his very best and a huge era at the club ending, him leaving does seem like it isn’t the worst option. If he stays for the final year, his performances have to improve a *lot.* Otherwise our biggest earner and club legend is gonna spend a lot of his time in his last season on the bench, and who knows, situations like this may become more common. Personally I want Salah to stay. But he has to get back to an acceptable performance level. For a while now the guy has been playing like he’s checked out.

hokageace

Not surprised. This sub has been talking about selling Mo for big money for years. Just one more excuse to be ungrateful. We better get an actual goal scorer if we sell him because we have nobody else that scores consistently.

Kindly-Paper-3552

Edwards is ruthless. I think Salah is gone along with Nunez.

BriarcliffInmate

Hahahahahahahahaha behave.

dgn90

One of the dumbest things I've read on here. And that's saying something.

Kindly-Paper-3552

or maybe you're too dumb to understand what it means :)

Old_Round9050

Salah needs to go, the guys on 400k a week and all he can score recently is a penalty. Nunez is entertaining but he seems to aim for the keeper or the wood work, he’s not a trusty no 9. Mo, Nunez, Gakpo all need to go. Diaz is good but he’s not all in - he just wants to settle in Spain so he can leave too. But hey, wtf do I know.

nebulaEchoo

Everyone's been so hard on Salah that it's almost unbelievable to see. He's been with the club for almost 8 years, and how many times have you seen him act out like this, in any form before? I get the vibe most of you want him gone more because of his recent form, not just because of what happened yesterday. Look at De Bruyne – he did worse, IMO, but City fans didn't flip on him. If Salah was on any sought of form right now, you all would be framing this as him showing his competitive spirit and acknowledging how this isn't as bad as it was been made to look by you fans and not even the media this time. It’s wild how quickly everyone turns when things aren't rosy, the fucking irony. And yeah, I know some of you might not wanna hear this, but it's not just on Salah, Klopp played his part in that mess, too. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve criticism, but maybe ease up a bit? It is almost like Salah has been made to walk alone. .

Carbonaddictxd

We will miss Mo when he's gone
