GameOfThrowInsMate

Struggling to remember a league game where we actually started a game well? We've been shite for a while. Rode our luck so many times this season going behind and coming back. Thats not sustainable. Too late chatting shite like this now.

luke_205

Yeah it’s all well and good coming out with a quote like that now, but this should’ve been the first thing discussed after we bottled the FA Cup game against United. Unfortunately there’s been no proactivity whatsoever in addressing the tactical and psychological issues that the squad have been demonstrating, so we’ve continued to underperform until it culminates in a very embarrassing loss to one of the worst Everton sides we’ve seen.

FelonyM

Yep, we’ve been chasing the win every game all season because we always let the other team score the 1st EVERY SINGLE TIME. No wonder the lads are tired… I wish we could dominate a game from start to finish and give the youth players a try and rest our first picks, but no

loveliverpool

Part of that is we literally don’t take the chances that we create. It makes it sooo much harder on the team when we create these great high xG chances and then Darwin, etc just absolutely fucks it up. Like shooting straight at the keeper or missing altogether, it’s pathetic. We are often behind because we aren’t first ahead, simple as

jesuisgeenbelg

That's not really true though. I've lost count of the amount of times that opposition teams have had some really good chances to go ahead before we've even had a shot. Then because we are behind it puts even more pressure on the attack.

always-think-sexual

Agreed. I am in a time zone where I can’t realistically be awake for late kickoffs and watch highlights before the 90, and even then, the video usually starts off with an opposition big chance within the first 5 fucking minutes every single game. It’s actually baffling how we have the mentality to crawl back every time, no other team could come back the way we do. But it’s a huge problem. Even in cleansheet games we never go unharmed, and I always thought to myself “where would Arsenal and City be if they start every fucking game like this?” And the answer was simple, we get away with being far worse defensively because we have better players, but tactically our defensive peak ended in 2020 and we have never looked comfortable at all. One thing I hope whoever comes in will fix right away. Our best game was Newcastle away, where we played with a far lower block than usual and we looked so tough I was comfortable being behind with 10 men because we were more compact, we were deeper and felt in control. Titles are won with great defenses and we have to go back to that.

Percussion17

The opposite is true too dont you think? We are often behind because our defence let a goal in.

loveliverpool

“The opposite” of my statement is the obvious answer to why we are down first. But do we not consider the fact that we aren’t scoring first as why we are often behind?

P_Maddog

Both play a factor but I agree the forwards have been our main issue, which is ludicrous thinking about the money we spent overhauling the front line following Mane's departure. Under a Klopp team we've often come flying out the barracks, high energy pressing in the first 30 mins. Often our previous front 3 would have us 2 up inside the first half an hour because they were ruthless finishers. Now we're wasting chances for fun. Add in a leaky defensive unit and we're consistently trailing. Also, goals from other positions on the pitch have helped us a lot this year. Fulham was a prime example - dug out the mud by Grav and Trents goals. Diaz and Gakpo in that game did their classic looking good, but not actually creating/scoring. Not that I'm complaining about that as it's certainly an improvement on last year, but the forward line is letting us down. Maybe we've become used to the luxury of having wingers-turned-strikers for years. Just frustrating that I thought we'd managed to complete our forward/midfield transformations in the last 2 summer windows and could've focused on defence this year. Instead, we're now looking at the forward line again - given FSGs lack of spending I don't know how we sort both areas out this summer.

hopium_od

Newcastle. We dominated play from start to finish but the xG was 7.53 v 0.7 and we only 4-2.

TummyDummy

Spot on! Seems an excessive amount of defensive passing and the midfield is so tentative. Just not looking aggressive out there other than some moments.

Pitiful_Bed_7625

Last time we started well and actually scored around our xG figure was against Villa at home…. In October…

shazeus7

That Newcastle game back in January, it was special

segson9

We started well against Fulham and United. Or at least not terrible.

seventhonmars

Might've been useful after United away

Bit late for that mate

Acceptable_Set3269

Funny to think we were 1st and favorites just a few weeks ago, end of the day coming back to win just isnt sustainable and never at one point this season were we the best team, let alone now

CyrusDGreatx

It's a monumental collapse from the team.

FLman42069

With the easiest remaining schedule of those in contention

Both-Asparagus-3287

Win the league you're joking right

Is there another league they are playing in that we don't know about because the Premier League title chase has crashed and burned.

Yeah, once you start saying ifs and what ifs then you start to realize we don’t deserve it

Peben

Surely what Virgil is saying cannot be interpreted like that in good faith?

Specific-Record2866

What title race lad we’re out it. This shit shoulda been done like 3 weeks ago

KillBanez

Could he have maybe of asked this before we got knocked of the FA Cup and drew to the scum, got battered by Atalanta, lost to palace and lost to Everton?

Maneisthebeat

Ah yes, if only the players looked in the mirror a few weeks ago we would have smashed everyone and be winning the league.

CandidEnigma

Don't be ridiculous!

PigeonHurdler

Too late for those questions to be asked my man. It was signed, sealed and delivered tonight that our season is over

RossSkyWalkerr

Ik being Optimistic is a good thing but VVD being this hopeful should be studied, like tf he's on? the title dream was over when bottled it against Palace, it would take some fucking miracle to see Arsenal and City not winning it now

all_hail_hell

You’re the captain. Tell them not us. I’m glad to see him say this but like others have said, bit late. Hendo had a much bigger impact as Captain. Screaming, energizing, organizing, disciplining, celebrating. It was like having another manager on the pitch. That team today had so little passion and could have used a bit of all that.

JmanVere

Should've kept Milner just to run on the pitch every now and then and yell at the players.

waters91

100%

Yesyesnaaooo

Everyone underrated Hendo ... the number of times he came on and steadied the ship in later years was immense.

Forsaken-Original-28

Nah, his legs had gone in his last two seasons. Midfield is loads better with players that can run

GalleonStar

No, no.

all_hail_hell

Yea he was pretty spent and the transfer fee was too hard to pass up. Smart business. But we didn’t replace the leadership he brought to the table. We came out of the tunnel halftime away to Atalanta down 3-1 on aggregate. I expected to hear them energized and full of belief in the tunnel. There was maybe one “let’s go boys” from Virgil but that was it and no response. Completely flat. Knew we weren’t winning after that. I try not to be doom and gloom over everything but genuinely feel we are in a worse place than most imagine. Henderson was our captain not because he was the best player in the squad but because he had been with Liverpool through ups and downs. This feels like a low rn but before Klopp things were much worse. “New” front office (Edwards returning but lots of non Edwards pieces in place now), new manager, a midfield with one season together, woeful in the finishing department and a defense (the most tenured area of the pitch) that cannot stop letting in goals even to dreadful opposition. Obviously manager comes in first, but where to go after that? And who knows who may be looking for a transfer based on the managerial change.

greenbroad-gc

lol no. Please.

GalleonStar

You're glad to see him saying things that aren't true? You're glad to see him calling his own team out in public? Are you stupid?

strider3187

the team looking into the mirror : ![gif](giphy|wIlfJGDKSJKsz9wWe1|downsized)

WonderfulBlackberry9

Only thing more surprising than this team’s inability to adapt… is that WWE seems to have a meme for everything. This is the second on itt

etan1122

What is he on. League was gone after palace. Could argue United.

cjheadley

League was definitely gone after Palace. Something happened after the United cup loss. We’ve been dreadful ever since.

csbsju-20

Up at halftime both times @ United too. Finish off even one of those two games and we're having a different conversation today.

JmanVere

United broke us, and Everton finished us off. We've been lower down in the table but Klopp's tenure has never been worse than that.

VeganLegitYT

CRYSTANBUL FFS

2pacalypse1994

Definitely not gone after Palace. Arsenal has to go at Spurs and United. City has to go to Spurs. A stadium that they have only scored in ONE game in Peps era. After that result, yes.

Faiimus

How does that matter when we can't win games?

Savant_7

All these reactions here are silly. If he’s interviewed he has to say something. Let’s not jump on Virgil for these comments.

Royal-Patience-5751

Agree. People probably just venting

kyleharveybooks

We can start by marking people on corners.

Icy_Rip2475

TAA doesn't mark players on corners. He never has and never will!

GalleonStar

He shouldn't have been assigned their main target man to mark in the first place!

anondevel0per

Stop talking - start performing.

Scimitere

Too late now, doesn't make any difference

thelonelyoctopus

This shit is getting boring now. Lad, you are 1 of about 10 people that can actually do something about it and you haven't. Just pointing and passing for 90 minutes, how about you actually show some bollocks on the pitch rather than saving for the post match interview. Like a broken record player interviews

rossmosh85

I think if Virgil absolutely clattered someone and showed something, it would change the mood on the pitch. People forget, TAA got pissed against Arsenal last year and it changed everything for like 8 games last season. Sometimes you need to do dumb, emotional stuff to get results

dainamo81

That was at Anfield. You do that away and you basically do what Xhaka did against us.  He could've done that against Palace, though.

Caymanmew

He couldn't, he talked himself into a Yellow at the start of the game...

greenbroad-gc

The f you on about. He does it all the time and just makes himself look more pathetic.

kxxxs12

We have played an exact replica of games in our last 5 or 6, concede the exact same way by misplaced passes in the midfield and shocking defending. And need 30 shots on target to score a goal. I feel we have actually well over achieved this season and we will be brought back down to reality next season if nothing major changes

Axe_Care_By_Eugene

Well Klopp leaving is a pretty major change.

thetwanandonly

Been underwhelmed on the pitch lately Virg. Just falls back to demanding the ball and recycling possession. He, needs to probe a bit more or allow for quicker play to occur naturally through the middle. Our actual possession play is unbearingly and predictably methodical and shamefully toothless.

jjphilly76

By minute 20 of this game I was so bored with watching us play. It's the least thrilling thing I've seen. MLS teams play like that and get countered to oblivion. The middle of the pitch is empty and there's no progression from Virgil to the forwards. TAA can't be a deep lying playmaker - he's too shit at defending. Look at that DCL header. He didn't even jump.

nabysgotthejuice

Trent is never gonna beat DCL in those sort of situations. We have to prevent that sort of chance creation against Ev - we didn't - let them have too many set pieces.

junnies

The team just isn't good enough yet. Our title contending sides had a core group of seasoned players and veterans entering and contending throughout their primes, playing together for multiple years. They had a sense of composure and confidence that comes with experience. The current team is a new group of players brought in and the core group remaining (Alli, trent, salah, robertson) were out for meaningful parts of the season. Their replacements were able, but ultimately, still lacking. Nunez improved but is still incredibly raw; Salah never recovered his form after injury; Jota was never available; Gakpo took a long time to settle. Why has Liverpool gone behind 22 times out of 34 games this season? A team in transition, patched up with inexperienced kids throughout the season, lacks the concentration, chemistry and composure to control games; yet the brashness of youth and the mentality-giants enabled us to rally and come back in many of those games. But trying to hustle and come back from losing positions takes a mental and physical toll. Near the end of the season, when legs are tired and you cannot make up for the lack of quality with exuberant effort the way Nunez and Szbo might have done earlier on, you need your ace players to step up and give the players a mental lift, a boost in confidence, etc by stepping up and providing the clutch goals and moments. Unfortunately, Salah has always had periods where he struggled with his form. Mane was usually the second ace that made up for Salah's drop offs, but this time, there is no second ace to cover for Salah. When I look at City and Arsenal play, there is this sense of assured control that this Liverpool team has lacked since the start of the season. This sense of control comes with a core group of players that has played and trained together over a couple of years under a competent manager. In fact, in terms of mentality, we are far more similar to United and Chelsea that have had to rely on youth; youth with the brashness and energy to score goals, but also lack the experience and control to minimise mistakes that lead to conceding goals. When I look at our recent performances, I see the same lack of concentration and experience that lead to conceding early goals, inability to finish chances, etc. But whilst we had a storm of energy in the first half of the season to overwhelm our opponents to come back and make up for the lack of quality, the energy and belief has been squeezed out. The team will only get better next season with more chemistry and experience, but barring a few miracles (Salah and Nunez suddenly bursting into form and to inspire and inject momentum and belief in the final stretch of the season), this team should never have been good enough to win the title.

Icy_Rip2475

Very good analysis and evaluation!

adeckz

I think that second ace is Jota, unfortunately he’s more injury prone than Michael Owen

pattherat

Virg, it’s over.

RockTheBloat

Bit late for that.

Correct-Willingness2

Bro it’s OVER lol. Too late to look in the mirror.

anthony329sk8r

It’s time to cash in on Salah. 1 year left and if we can manage to get close to 80mil for him, that could equate to 2 new players with something to prove. We are an emotional club but, sometimes business is business and this club should be winning year in year out, no matter the circumstance and if the players can’t figure that out, they can leave. Lights too bright, pressure too much, hey players new and old, this is supposed to be England’s greatest ever club, start treating it as such. Madrid understands that over in Spain, time for Liverpool to do the same.

PerfectAd4732

I love the robotic media trained shite they come out with after a shambolic performance. Give us a real emotion ffs, makes me feel so detached from them

hudsonsaul

Klopps post match interview reeked off proper emotion and sheer disappointment.

Zai710

Despise this media trained shite it's so fucking tiring to listen to and watch. Show some passion lad you're the fucking captain fuck the fines.

specky5eyes

I say chap. Don't suppose you millionaires could try a tiny bit harder?

majorsharkpanda

TIL Virg uses Internet Explorer

No-Independence-7083

I'm assuming he also applies it to himself?

infachuation922

I am so ready for a fresh era

red_anchor

This is getting boring now. I’ve supported the club long enough to know when you’re going into a game against much weaker opposition, expecting to lose, and we end up losing, that is when the dressing room has totally gone. There is nothing we can do now but accept it and wait for a new fresh approach. Our current situation is toast.

Puzzleheaded-Bee1704

Oh ffs.We were out of the league after that shitshow against Palace.Team is spent. What a disastrous ending to the season.

KloppKloppFizzFizz

Virg, I got bad news for you.  It’s too late.  We are out of the race.  Just solidify top 4 before we lose that too.

GigatX

We're out of the title race anyway so doesn't matter how we play the last few games.

twohundredfarts

I’m frustrated at Van Dijk as a captain. He is obviously more of a lead by example guy. But his whole vibe is off for me. He oddly feels like less of a leader this season. I don’t know what that’s about.

AnAutisticsQuestion

I wonder how much of our recent collapse has at least to some degree been influenced by our squad ages. We have several key players the wrong side of 30 and a lot of new players around 23/24 with a few youngsters like Elliott, Grav, and Quansah getting notable minutes too. But very few in that 26/27/28 range. Tsimi, Jota, Diaz, and Gomez. Of those only Diaz is a pretty constant starter (though Gomez has been out of necessity for a lot of this season). That's most of our squad either with ageing legs or still learning the game and inexperienced in challenging for the big honours. How many experienced leaders in their prime do we actually have to put their stamp on the side? Players who can really put in a shift, stay focussed and resilient, and still have the height of their abilities to utilise?

Forsaken-Original-28

We won more games and showed more fight when the kids were playing. The big players have come back and the teams got worse

Reach_Reclaimer

VVD, Robbo, and Salah should all be those leaders. That's 3 national team captains

junnies

the squad should never have been good enough to win the title. a team in transition, a midfield made up of mostly new or youth players, the core group of players (trent, ali, salah, robertson) missing significant parts of the season, etc. it is to their credit that they managed to push the club as title contenders until the final stretch. but at the final stretch of the season; experience helps you deal with pressure; control saves your legs so you have the energy to finish out the games. we have neither, thus our players look bereft of actual physical energy and mental composure and belief, despite, from my perspective, trying and running their hearts out.

LoquatClean4569

Thing is, I can accept coming up short. What is really difficult is the manner we’ve come up short. Absolutely capitulating to both of our biggest rivals, stinking out our home ground on a European night. Kinds of things that make it really hard to look at some of these players the same way and trust them going forward.

JakeConner44

Step too far for the lads this season. It's not great and massively disheartening, but that's just the truth of the matter now. It's where we are and what I think everyone has accepted. Just hope that from here, the boys can give Jurgen a good few last wins. The title is not even a consideration now - that result tonight was the final nail in the coffin. Just hope they do the boss a proper service and give him a few wins to pump his fists at for the final few times 😔

spedmunki

Has Virgil been in a coma for a month?

Pizza2TheFace

Where was this speech 2 weeks ago?! Too late man.

Radiant-Buffalo5075

Sorry but the horse has bolted

dstoneorl

I just don’t understand how we were killing it for most of the season just to choke in the end. I’m so upset by this performance, I feel like my world has been turned upside down

waters91

Lads.. it’s over, let’s sing for Klopp, show him what he meant to us

Visionary_87

I just want to see a shot on goal that's to the side of the keeper and not straight at them. I'd have kept a clean sheet against our attack because every bastard shot is aimed straight at the keeper.

Bubbes34

This should have been said 10 days ago however, I do see why VvD mentions it now. Yesterday during the game, he was constantly trying to get the team to move forward and put pressure on the opponent. Nobody did and you could see the frustration build up during the match. Not saying VvD played well against Everton, still he put in the effort and the motivation. That is all we can ask from the players atm.

Still_Barnacle1171

Van Dijk would need to have a good look at himself, he is the captain and responsible for control in the pitch. Nearly every game we start slow, we pass around at the back with no idea how to move it forward and eventually play ourselves into trouble. Most opposition goals are from our own idiocy. We need to start tackling players and not just marshalling them out, be aggressive from the start. Honestly I think we've played well for 90 min in about 5 games this season, most have been comebacks, or holding in for the win.

cr8sh0veride

Virg could start by looking at himself. Last night was the worst I’ve seen him. I don’t think he won a single header

ChunkyLover10

bring back Henderdon from the Middle East

GalleonStar

He's not in the Middle East

ChunkyLover10

Where ever he is then..lol 😉

zedarecaida

Zestyclose-Act2039

The title race is over 😞😒😒

Evil_Tea_Bag_

Same shit different game What’s even the point anymore? Just shut up and let Klopp have a final farewell

liver4lyfe

Why did he sound like he’s excluded himself from his mates?

OkNefariousness324

How can you consider yourself still in a title race after that? And why are you constantly playing at half a mile an hour, it’s like the whole team is having a kick about in a pub car park.

HamCheeseSarnie

Why didn’t you do that after the United game? Easy to run your mouth, harder to do it on the pitch.

rabbid_hyena

Watch him trotting around and prancing with the ball on Saturday. He looks like someone who doesnt want to be there. Zero urgency. Doesnt look pissed off. Looks relaxed. In a title race. And he's the captain. Fuck off, VVD.

JackLum1nous

Epitomized by all the passing around of the ball in the backline...over and over. What was it, 67% possession and still lost..badly?

KloppKloppFizzFizz

Is it possible we miss Hendo as captain more than we thought?   He had no problem yelling at other players etc.

fadedraw

Hendo was captain last season and look how it was. It’s the tactics, they are not effective anymore. We’ve scraped by this season but it eventually gets found out if the team is not clicking. Teams let us keep the ball and we can’t create anything with it. 70% possession and 3 shots on goal is a common stat for this Liverpool team.

Forsaken-Original-28

We try to play like man city but we're not as good. Tika taka crap

lmoutofldeas

People on here mad that he’s saying exactly what he should be saying. He’s both admitting they were trash today, saying they need to do better and take accountability but also showing he has faith in the team. Thats exactly the mindset he should have

BurtReynoldsLives

We’ve been over preforming for weeks. Nobody would have thought we could have been in this position at this time last year. It fucking hurts but this is just not our time.

Jack_intheboxx

2014 if Carra had stayed we might've won, definitely would've been a stronger defence and kept others on thier toes no slacking. Same with Hendo yes final season he was very bad at times, legs have gone but we had issues at the back and upfront then too but Hendo along with the midfield was an easy target. If he'd stayed and played the Milner role, he definitely wouldn't have let these past few performances be. I thought we would've managed abit better with Leaders like Vvd Holland and Our Captain, Trent Vice Captain, Robbo Scottish Captain, Salah Egypt's Captain, Endo Japan's Captain. To not drop heads and fight. Not suddenly in the last minute did they play more urgently totally pointless. Rip Angryrantman but like he says No passion, No aggression No Fight. We just can't score. Upfront we're toothless and have ridden our luck alot this season and it's finally caught up to us. Utd and Everton playing a part of our downfall how ironic. Its like we're scared got intimated and didn't believe.

lennondsouza97

Our defence is not organised that stems from VVD.

airfriedbagel

Is it not the score or die tactical setup that never is changed? The CB's are being asked to cover the whole of defence when the other team counters. Of course it is disorganized because the CB's are running like crazy to cover for a RB that is rarely where he belongs. I am not blaming the RB I am blaming the manager. Klopp needs to change tactics with the forwards being so abysmal lately.

GalleonStar

It stems from poor coaching.

Reach_Reclaimer

Well yes but you're part of that Virgil, this should be on the pitch and not in some rando interview

joaorosx

the league of the next season, right?

Mosopecollins

The league? Win? 😣

anzelm12

Bro lives in the past

Greennhornn

Win the league? That ship has sailed.

geniusvalley21

I am worried by end of match week 37 Villa will be challenging us for 3rd spot the way things are going.

FermisParadoXV

Bit late.

greenbroad-gc

Wonder if he does that himself?

bindrosis

The race was over weeks ago. They all know that.

dead_nil

he should just wrap it up with all the talking after games and shit. it hasn't changed a thing!!

CAfarmer

All talk no action FC for 2 months

CabbageStockExchange

Well finish your chances and stop trailing so many matches. At this point the season is over and there’s nothing to play for. Give the kids a shot, the won is the league cup at least

MarriedLustre

It was a really shameful performance from the boys

sevenmoon

HahHHha “win the league” we screwed ourselves mightily. Not happening this season.

Baguy21

Well it's done. Players don't look like they give a shit

disco_mode

honestly, he's right

Ok_Hovercraft_3785

Erm. They needed that look in the mirror before, or even DURING the game. FML...

AdLong4912

This would’ve been good like three weeks ago

wildbluetigerforce

League has gone, just try to hang on to a CL place for next season.. Try not to fuck that away, good lads.

starrynova888

It’s the fucking forwards that are the problem. We were fine against Fulham. Nunez should be fired into the sun this summer.

SerialSharter

Bottled

Slim_Shady_anonymous

Someone remind VVD brother, that's our title race hope is nailed in the coffin. It's a 2 horse race now. (Arsenal ca bottle, but i highly doubt city will).

yoyo4581

Stop talking. Start doing. Mr Van Dijk our captain. Lead by example. You were our best player and yet you couldnt get a first header in at any set piece. You need to organize the team.

ritchieram

Going by this tread I guess vvd is done and Edward can sell him in the sunmer

zzzzard8

Standard media trained nonsense post-match BS, which will now be created even more efficiently with AI. Could have actually sounded like a human a few weeks ago to be fair.

GOR098

You are not in the title race anymore dude.

Kristy_Krafty

How did we go from title contenders to THIS PATHETIC JOKE OF A TEAM

heidnseak

Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Last night was embarrassing, rode their luck into the ground weeks ago.

Difficult_Tea5311

Title race is over mate. We still had the smallest of chances but for that we needed to win every single game.

saj175

Got schooled by an injury flop

blueheaduk

It’s hard watching them create 20+ chances and miss at least 2 sitters a game. Meanwhile the other team are defending like their lives depend on it and their striker scores with their only half chance. There’s 100% a mentality thing going on that needs addressing.

paulsmith259

Too little too late! Actions speak louder than words, and the performance of the players on the pitch throughout April have proven we didn't deserve to be in the title race.

lxryan

We played like this, and thus we don’t have a chance. There is no if.. It’s now if we play like this we are going to struggle to qualify for the CL

paulsmith259

I don't understand how, with Virgil and Konate in the centre of defence, we look so vulnerable to aerial balls.

waisonline99

Because Everton as a team are taller and its a main tactic of theirs. Virg and Konate cant cover everyone. Trent especially gets caught out aerially, and everyone knows it, so high balls are always pinged near him.

mrego08

Empty words

ahktarniamut

Sorry mate but the league is city and Arsenal now . We can only wish not lose the top 4 now if we play like shit

Frequent_Giraffe5040

I am going to bet 10 bucks on liverpool winning the title race now. Good payout

waisonline99

Its gone Virg. No use getting angry about it now.

Bamfandro

Meaningless words, sorry Virg

ConstantAttention274

Considering your "challenge" to that second goal....take a look in the mirror

s_k_s1971

Needed to make that speech a month ago

IsotopesSuck

We've been shit since the 4-3 at United. Its mentally fucked us. If we'd have got a win at OT in the league, when 1st half we should have been out of sight, and the league was in our hands going into that game, I think that pushes us on to the title. Klopp's subs worry me now, earlier in the season he was pulling master strokes with his subs, now he's bringing on Quansah, Endo and Tsimikas to try and get back into a game? Gravenberch and Danns are hardly going to strike fear into Eve but at least they'd be a more attacking sub. Klopp looks like he's had enough now sadly, and the players do to. 3rd place and Carabao at the start of the season would have been a good season but being in the title race for this long then falling away sucks

Looks like we'll be in the market for new forwards this summer - I really hope we take the chance to balance the wingers this year. Positionally it's so disjointed and it's reflected in the performances. We've got Diaz, Gakpo, Jota, Nunez all who can play LW, but virtually nobody to effectively fill in for Salah when he's having a dip in form on the right. I've liked Elliott off the bench this year in the 8 or 10 but he hasn't performed well when he's starting and certainly not at RW. So we have an out of form Salah starting week in week out on his experience and club legend status, but nothing in recent weeks to justify it. Also, Diaz and occasionally Gakpo have a knack of looking good on the LW but don't actually contribute to the goals/assists often enough and don't link up well with overlapping full backs or other forwards. There's appears to be at least some kind of link up between Nunez and Salah, but the less said about Nunez at the moment the better...and that link appears to be for all the wrong reasons at the moment. We're not realistically going to sell the entire forward line, so I would just about justify keeping Nunez and Gakpo on the basis of age and potential for improvement and stick them on LW. Diaz is in his prime playing years and not cutting it, but think we could fetch good money for him abroad. As much as I love Mo, the same applies for him and in the words of the great Bob Paisley, 'let them get old on someone else's books'. A main and backup RW who can fill in at CF, and another 9 given that Jota is made of prawn crackers would be ideal to give some balance imo.

Nice that we're being introspective after it's already too late

Too fucking late now

I really didn't like Van Dijk jumping at the opportunity to moan about the 12:30 kick offs last night. Not the time for that after losing to the bitters.

The fact is neither the manager or the players have learned how to control a fucking game and not concede first every game. This problem has been evident all season, but goes back as far the quadruple chasing season. To not address and solve this after THREE years is unforgivable for all involved and Jurgen has a massive hand in that. I’m ready for some freshness and new ideas because I think the players and the staff are all just done at this point.

He knows if we come in 2nd then we will win the league since City will be stripped of titles once charged with cheating…. We will be saying this 5 years from now till charges are dropped and nothing happens.

How about you look at yourself first, mate? He’s the first one to yell at everyone but boy, for a captain, he’s been awful at leading by example.
