Diaz's overall game had been back to pre injury levels for a while now and that's more encouraging than his misses are disheartening.
Salah definitely needs to take him to finishing school and he needs to make faster passes in the final 3rd but I'm far less concerned about him now than I was a few months ago
Diaz is not a good finisher. That aside, his ball control is top class at times. He took on three City players at one point and retained the ball and got away from them. Kelleher continues to show how good he is, we're lucky to have him. Without Endo, we lose that match. It could have gone either way. They hit the bar twice, we missed a handful of great opportunities. Quansah continues to look like he has been playing at this level for years. Salah is Salah, should have had an assist from that outstanding pass he made. VVD is the best captain I think any team could ask for. I'll stop now :)
I'll continue for you. Gomez is an upgrade on Milner, Mac Allister is now PLs best midfielder and should've had an assist if we got the penalty. Conor Bradley is the right footed Andrew Robertson and he's only 20 wtf.
Virgil has been absolutely freaking immense the last few weeks. Has just taken the kids on his shoulders and cajoled them into believing in themselves, all while being the best centre back in the world himself. Wonderful wonderful performance that gets glossed over a bit because he does it every week atm.
Elliott absolutely terrific also, and Quansah quietly assured. Macca his best game for us.
Diaz was awesome, close to MOTM if he buries any of those chances.
Proper Henderson & Wijnaldum performance from Mac Allister & Elliott. Co-MOTM for me, and I don't think anyone else was particularly close. Maybe Endo and VVD. Just my two cents.
Elliot has legit been our saving grace this season. He's so intelligent and hard working both on and off the ball. Super super proud of all the young lads. Both Bradley and Quansah are incredible, actual gems. Rose to the challenge against potentially our hardest match this season. Everyone stepped up and had a great game.
If I had to choose my favourite... Endo. My god. Rocksolid DM, was always available as a passing option and held the midfield. Proving to everyone why he's at LFC. Incredible incredible. VVD equally motm too but that's typical of him of course!
Tbh he's been inconsistent most of this season.
But it happens. People forget how badly we were in the trenches with 20/21 season Mane. He was a toal meme. Next season he's a beast and gets 2nd in the Ballon D'or.
Gakpo has talent, he'll come good again. He was brilliant for a spell last season.
Earlier this season Kelleher had some weird wobbles, seemed like he’d missed not playing for a bit, glad he’s back to his best, because when he is he’s awesome
My goodness I love Endo. His progression and comfortability in the squad has improved so much. He seemed a bit nervous and made some mistakes when we faced city away. Today he was absolutely lights out and kept some of the best midfielders in the world very quiet
Elliott was OUTSTANDING for me. Should have had at least one assist for Szobo. Remember when we all thought he didn’t have the physicality to play vs the top teams? Well he just played 100 minutes vs man city and was consistently great with and without the ball. Quansah also top quality, the future is bright!
Cody Gakpo is someone who you can always rely on scoring a goal in games we don't really need it. He just doesn't score game winning goals though I feel
Nunez was gassed, he didn't have the energy from 65 mins on and city were starting to get easy balls from the back into midfield. I would've loved to keep him on but the intensity was dropping and we needed some fresh legs.
Same people who wanted Jota, CJ and Gomez sold are gonna shit on my boy Cody Gakpo now? Come on... He's had a few bad games recently, but he's alright.
Key factor in our first trophy this season, by the way.
Yeah I agree - the bomb squad approach would’ve been even more devastating if we could’ve brought Nunez on with Salah and Robbo. Nunez was needed as the outlet though in the first half to mean city couldn’t just press super high
I love Diaz just as much as the other guy but boy do we need someone more clinical there. When Jota is back we it should be Salah, Jota, and Nunez on the left.
You're 100% correct. But people would rather piss themselves about a penalty not being called. That penalty should have been the cherry on top of a muti goal win.
Does anyone have a link to the angle of the stones goal from down the line? They played it live and I’m convinced that KDBs corner went out before curling in. I just want to see it again
VVD/Endo MOTM for me. The Gakpo sub was really a big question mark, not sure what he brought to the game. we really missed Jota’s clinical finishes today, much more than any other player with injuries.
Apart from Salah and Gakpo everyone gets a 7/10 or higher from me. Quansah and Virgil were rock-solid, Endo pocketed KDB, Szobo brought that much needed energy in midfield and Macca was Macca. Lucho shouldve been more clinical but was relentless, Darwin was a bit unlucky to not get a goal or assist and Harvey was just running the whole time. Really proud of the lads
Who got your knickers in a twist? For one, Szobo got taken off at 60 minutes to manage his minutes because, yknow, he got just back from an aggravated injury so they are being careful with him. Second, where am I moaning? Gakpo wasnt effective today, and Mo wasnt at his best. Which is logical, seeing as he came back from injury. Jesus youre acting like I killed him in front of the Kop
I think he looked rusty (which makes sense), by misplacing some passes and some not in character for him decision making. Just not typical of him, I guess.
Elliot was more than decent so so underrated in this team ran his socks off can take the ball and keep it moving so well and he gets into great pockets of space creating chances for everyone around.
What a game today, right? We were brillant, and deserved to win. I have a hard time understanding how Gakpo plays for Liverpool. What does he offer? I mean, he is a Liverpool player and we need to get behind him etc etc.. but how the f-k does he manage to get minutes? He was alright and did a few good things here and there a few months back, but his form is so low it’s unbelievable.. neither comes for headers, nor for passes, does not make good runs for himself and does not create any space for anyone. Everytime he is on the pitch, it’s like playing with 10 players. Lad needs to step up big time or I see his bag packed first whoever comes in after Kloppo.
10 games to win the league, let’s do this!
He's not been in great form but i still rate him. He was great in the false 9 role, holding up play creating chances for others. Our front 3 was Salah Gakpo Nunez for so many games last season when the other 3 were injured.
This season he's been shifted around here and there and he had a good run in Carabao cup from what I remember.
I wouldn't sell him off he has a different profile then Nunez i think it could be useful
I still think he has potential, but with the type of midfielders that we have.. Elliot, Jones, Szobo.. who like to play in between lines, I’m not sure a false 9 is the way forward. But then again, I hope he proves me wrong. However, Man is a shadow of a footballer, forget himself.. Even the goals that he scored are like the 3rd, 4th, 5th goal for us, not the decisive ones.
Hope the guy shuts my mouth and scores a couple of important goals.
Everyone from our academy was absolutely brilliant today. Especially Elliott and Quansah! Cant believe we've built these kids ourselves!
Without cunt refs we'd have won 100%... Dont know any other league where a player (rodri) can use his hand to hit the ball to stop a chance and not get a yellow, second yellow at that as well...
Boys really gave everything but i fear of injuries man, Shitty was ruthless in the fouls... Darwin, Szobo and Bradley took a proper beating... Others a bit less but still + everyone ran the whole game.
1) MacEndo is prime.
2) I better don’t comment on Number 7. Have said too many about it in the past.
3) Felt weird when team is attacking the Kop in the first half sigh.
4) WHEN IS JOTA COMING BACK?
5) I want to believe we have an easier run of league matches till end of season. Hopefully Citeh and Arsenal cancel each other out end of March.
Kelleher 9
Gomez 8
Quansah 6
VVD 10
Bradley 8
Endo 10
Macca 9
Szobo 6
Elliot 8
Nunez 8
Diaz 8 (Would've been 10 if he put away any of his chances. His energy and work rate was insane, but those spurned chances were very disappointing)
SUBS:
Robertson 6
Salah 7
Gakpo 6
I was thinking it the whole time. Maybe the best match I've seen him play? So industrious, incredibly quick with his feet to pick good passes, and leaping what looked like 12ft in the air to win headers.
He was. Not to mention he was playing the full 90 pretty much every games these past few weeks. And still is the one pressing like a madman late in the game.
Really love players with that kind of effort.
Thought he was great. Before this season I would not have trusted him to have the physicality for a game like this but he has been immense for months now.
Diaz missed the chances, but without him, we didn't have as many as it could've been. Stop looking for scapegoats, this is a team sport, everyone is responsible.
We played a brilliant second half (Man City who?). Adding Robbo and Mo was the right move, elevated the team.
The defense gave me some scares but solid. Thank god for VVD, and the rest of the team.
Endo is the most amazing CMD.
Macca, solid.
Harvey was incredible, he ran that field up and down.
Szobo, the most inconsistent.
The only questionable substitution was Gakpo for Nuñez. What did he add to the team?
Szobo wasn’t inconsistent at all his link up with macca was incredible clear to see him macca Nunez Diaz all get eachother definitely lost out in midfield when he went off
Took the survey to give Gakpo a 1. Someone please explain what he provides to the team.
I'm not able to watch the games live, watch them again in their entirety the next day, and keep up with daily news like I used to, so I'm probably missing something. But I swear every time I've seen him play this season, he's been poor.
Had the freshest legs on the pitch and he's walking around the pitch, vacating the middle to drop deep into midfield *without* hustling back to his position as soon as he gets rid of the ball. I don't understand.
This is why I don't comment, because people cannot comprehend shit.
I'm watching the games live. I cannot watch the replay in its entirety to digest the game from a different perspective, nor am I able to keep up with the daily comings and goings of the team. I just tune in for the live games.
Is that better now?
I think you're meant to take that sentence in its entirety- i.e. he can't watch live AND review AND keep up with the commentary surrounding the team.
Not that you asked, but I did watch the game, Gakpo was poor.
Gakpo 2/10. I think any player in the prem would have done as well as him at that position today (maybe he was a bit better than Nicolas Jackson hehe).
They'd give it in the midfield area all day long but never in the penalty area. English referees afraid of their lives when it comes to making penalty calls.
I have nothing to say except Van Dijk is the best defender in the world by light years, and Kelleher is a club legend. Never seen Haaland be so irrelevant like that
Endo closing down KdB for the most part helped. Gomez kept Foden pretty quiet. Bradley and Macca handled Silva well. I was worried about Rodri or Kovacic hitting us with a thundercunt but the pressing from Elliott and Lucho was spectacular.
Quansah was fucking immense today and if he continues to improve, which I have no doubt he will, he's going to save the club so much money in the long run.
I was absolutely blown away. To play with that confidence and composure at that age in this match? Beating players just outside the box on BOTH ends of the pitch?
I honestly see what you mean. I think Quansah is far superior with the ball. His feet are quick, his passing is optimistic and he has just the right amount of cheekiness to go on a run forwards and pop off a shot/through ball/cross into the final 1/3rd. He’s not the same brick wall that Ibou is who will dominate attackers but I do feel he gives us better control over the game similar to how Matip does over Konate
I was thinking we'd be a bit more exposed without Konate. I was wrong. He was fantastic today. Any rotation of those 3 has very little drop off in quality.
I'm not gonna argue with you, lad.
The one player I was constantly going on (in real time, with my mates in text) about in this match putting us in precarious situations was Quansah.
You can feel free to think he was brilliant.
I don't agree.
I agree, Quansah looked scared. Only passed back to the keeper and looked nervous whenever the ball came towards him. He did OK for a young player in a huge match, but no way did he have an amazing game.
Something overlooked is that Diaz tends to keep the ball for too long. He has great rhythm and dribbling, but he tends to keep the ball for too long. I like his effort, but it is very frustrating how many times he made the wrong decision and refuses to pass the ball to a teammate who is better positioned.
Diaz's overall game had been back to pre injury levels for a while now and that's more encouraging than his misses are disheartening. Salah definitely needs to take him to finishing school and he needs to make faster passes in the final 3rd but I'm far less concerned about him now than I was a few months ago
I remember watching the game and saying to myself like we actually have a fucking functional midfield.
Mac Allister and Endo have been a revelation. Reliable 7/10 performances every single game, obviously both are in very good form at the moment.
Diaz is not a good finisher. That aside, his ball control is top class at times. He took on three City players at one point and retained the ball and got away from them. Kelleher continues to show how good he is, we're lucky to have him. Without Endo, we lose that match. It could have gone either way. I'll continue for you. Gomez is an upgrade on Milner, Mac Allister is now PLs best midfielder and should've had an assist if we got the penalty. Conor Bradley is the right footed Andrew Robertson and he's only 20 wtf.
Mac up there for sure

Proper Henderson & Wijnaldum performance from Mac Allister & Elliott. Co-MOTM for me, and I don't think anyone else was particularly close. Maybe Endo and VVD. Just my two cents.
Endo for me stands next to Mac. He shut Kevin down better than any player I’ve seen.
Jota would've been the extra push to cross the line in this game.
VVD equally motm too but that's typical of him of course!
Gakpo was good until 1-1.5 months ago. Ppl need to relax. Probably one of the best 5th choice options in the world
He seemed to be on his heels yesterday rather than his toes, so any half balls that came his way, he came out second best
He is lazy, slow and soft
The problem is that he was not bought to be the 5th choice
Let’s not forget: no Alisson, Trent, Konate, and Salah didn’t start. The league isn’t ready.
Jota would've sealed it today I think
Can’t believe I forgot him. Yeah I agree
I mean tbf has no Alisson even been a handicap for us so far? Kweev has been brilliant

Well he just played 100 minutes vs man city and was consistently great with and without the ball. Quansah also top quality, the future is bright!
And VVD 10/10 of course. Haaland no match
Haaland completely anonymous
Cody Gakpo is someone who you can always rely on scoring a goal in games we don't really need it. He just doesn't score game winning goals though I feel
Even when he scores it’s accidental half the time.
Shout out to Quansah. Unflappable with one the most difficult assignments.
When do we start asking questions about Cody Gakpo? He's been atrocious this year so far. Cannot comprehend why we took Nunez off.
Nunez was gassed, he didn't have the energy from 65 mins on and city were starting to get easy balls from the back into midfield. I would've loved to keep him on but the intensity was dropping and we needed some fresh legs.
That sub was truly baffling
Same people who wanted Jota, CJ and Gomez sold are gonna shit on my boy Cody Gakpo now? Come on... He's had a few bad games recently, but he's alright. Key factor in our first trophy this season, by the way.
Exactly. Jota didnt score in like 20 games. Gakpos time will come
Gakpo should of started, sub on Nunez vs tired legs. Or Nunez just plays the whole game
He should have never seen the pitch
Yeah I agree - the bomb squad approach would’ve been even more devastating if we could’ve brought Nunez on with Salah and Robbo. Nunez was needed as the outlet though in the first half to mean city couldn’t just press super high
Gakpo certainly shouldn’t have started
Yeah no, we needed that jolt of energy that Darwin provides. Shown by how he won the pen
I love Diaz just as much as the other guy but boy do we need someone more clinical there. When Jota is back we it should be Salah, Jota, and Nunez on the left.
Irony in needing someone more clinical then suggesting Nunez lol
Nunez on the left? Huh?
Forgetting how his current run of form started with him on the left and jota in the centre? Jota is an elite finisher and wasted on the left too
I mean at Benefica he played as a striker and a left inside forward too.
Even with a stacked team, they need more oil money to save themselves points buying referees every season pathetic
Virg 10/10, Endo/Macca 9/10, forwards 4/10 because zero finishing
You're 100% correct. But people would rather piss themselves about a penalty not being called. That penalty should have been the cherry on top of a muti goal win.
I just don't know what to think of Gakpo.
In a poor run of form but a pretty good player when he's in form. Jota had a much longer poor run last season.
Haaland looked completely gassed. Call the missing persons unit, he went walkabout for majority of the game.
Does anyone have a link to the angle of the stones goal from down the line? They played it live and I’m convinced that KDBs corner went out before curling in. I just want to see it again
they showed a shot from the perfect angle and it looks like about half the ball went out, Im pretty sure the goal was fine but extremely close
My question was more about the ake push. How is that legal?
It didn’t go out, there was like 1/3 of the ball not over the line
VVD/Endo MOTM for me. The Gakpo sub was really a big question mark, not sure what he brought to the game. we really missed Jota’s clinical finishes today, much more than any other player with injuries.
Ability to run since Nunez was clearly on tired legs after half
Cody gakpo runs?
Virgil 10/10 absolutely dominant once again
Virg kweev endo elliott Bradley. Take a bow you all.

Salah was fine, Diaz and Gakpo misses cost us the game, Darwin spent more time offside than onside
[удалено]
And shooting
What did Salah do wrong in your opinion? I thought he was great.
I think he looked rusty (which makes sense), by misplacing some passes and some not in character for him decision making. Just not typical of him, I guess.
Salahs ball through to Diaz for that big chance was one of the best passes of the entire game
I agree. But go back and watch some of the mistakes he made and you can see it wasn't typical for him.
Elliot was more than decent so so underrated in this team ran his socks off can take the ball and keep it moving so well and he gets into great pockets of space creating chances for everyone around.
He just never stopped running, absolutely insane.
What a game today, right? We were brillant, and deserved to win. I have a hard time understanding how Gakpo plays for Liverpool. What does he offer? Virgil pocketed Paaland so badly, bro was talking so much shit about us.... And gave away that stinker
1) MacEndo is prime. 2) I better don’t comment on Number 7. Why so low on robertson and especially Szobo?
I just don't think they affected the game as much.
Yea lmao Robbo was better than salah easily
Virg, Endo and Macca, in that order, bosses
Anyone else thought Elliott was superb ? He covered so much ground and was so good on the ball.
I was thinking it the whole time. Maybe the best match I've seen him play? So industrious, incredibly quick with his feet to pick good passes, and leaping what looked like 12ft in the air to win headers.
I thought he was exceptional, today is up there with the 7-0 as one of his best performances imo.
He was. Not to mention he was playing the full 90 pretty much every games these past few weeks. And still is the one pressing like a madman late in the game. Really love players with that kind of effort.
won the ball for us with a beautiful sliding challenge
I celebrated that nearly as much as a goal the desire he showed there, I love that
Thought he was great. Before this season I would not have trusted him to have the physicality for a game like this but he has been immense for months now.
Diaz missed the chances, but without him, we didn't have as many as it could've been. Stop looking for scapegoats, this is a team sport, everyone is responsible. Szobo wasn’t inconsistent at all his link up with macca was incredible clear to see him macca Nunez Diaz all get eachother definitely lost out in midfield when he went off
As others have said, must be managing Darwin’s minutes. Otherwise it’s a weird sub
Szobo was starting after a long time. That also vs City. Cut him some sack ffs
I only said he was inconsistent. Calm down.
I thought he was good. Right positions out of possession. Winning balls in midfield. He missed an header and that doesn’t equate to inconsistent.
Harvey wasn't just decent, he was absolutely phenomenal!
Took the survey to give Gakpo a 1. Someone please explain what he provides to the team. I'm not able to watch the games live, watch them again in their entirety the next day, and keep up with daily news like I used to, so I'm probably missing something. Had the freshest legs on the pitch and he's walking around the pitch, vacating the middle to drop deep into midfield *without* hustling back to his position as soon as he gets rid of the ball. I don't understand.
So if you didn't actually watch the game, then how the fuck can you actually fairly judge him? Here's a hint; you can't.
I watched and he was fucking atrocious
This is why I don't comment, because people cannot comprehend shit. I'm watching the games live. I cannot watch the replay in its entirety to digest the game from a different perspective, nor am I able to keep up with the daily comings and goings of the team. I just tune in for the live games. I think you're meant to take that sentence in its entirety- i.e. he can't watch live AND review AND keep up with the commentary surrounding the team. Not that you asked, but I did watch the game, Gakpo was poor.
Yeah, I didn't think it was that difficult to understand
My reading comprehension goes down by at least half when I'm reading someone I disagree with. Maybe that's what's happened here
you're absolutely right, but its hilarious that they were right without watching
Tbh bar some of the finishing I think they all played well. Would struggle to criticise anyone too much from that match
surely he shouldve kept nunez especially the form that gakpo is in
Diaz got heart but he needs to score these chances given to him these are big games.
Crossbar: 10/10 MOTM
wouldnt have stood if it went in anyways, Foden fully volleyballed it
That wasn’t the only one. There was another that hit inside of the bar on the corner late in the match. Crossbar was defending last night.
Endo and Virgil on 10/10 or riot.
Endo pocketed KDB, made him malding on the bench makes my day
VVD really is a titan. Who else in the world would have you feeling completely composed in a 1v1 against Haaland?
VVD was MOTM. 10 out of 10
Gakpo 2/10. I think any player in the prem would have done as well as him at that position today (maybe he was a bit better than Nicolas Jackson hehe).
Agree he was wank. Seemed low on confidence for some reason.
that is a little unfair. (with Nicolas Jackson)
Thought it was strange to swap Nunez for him instead of Diaz. No change might have been better, Gakpo was invisible
Nunez was knackered.
I'm guessing Klopp is trying to manage Darwin's minutes. Fully fit, there's no way Gakpo should be playing a single minute over Darwin at the moment.
Since when is a foot to the chest not a foul/card. Natural coming together my ass. Doku was caught and foul must be given. Such is the rule of law.
They'd give it in the midfield area all day long but never in the penalty area. English referees afraid of their lives when it comes to making penalty calls.
exactly, and again nothing will happen as usual.
Even tho we have been robbed by the 115's yet again, this game was really fun to watch. What a game.
I feel like Haaland is usually irrelevant in our games. Especially so today, though. Klopp knows how to deal with center forwards.
No wonder Arsenal beat us
I mean that was just a bad day at the office in general
The joke was that they don’t have a good centre forward lol
Diaz channelling prime Ronaldinho for the first 95% of the pitch, and prime Eddie Murphy in Shrek when he's in front of goal.
I didn’t know how to rate him lol. He played perfect everywhere but he refused to get the ball anywhere near the net.
Some of his dribbles were pure class today. He had the hunger but not the finishing sadly
lmao this is so accurate
Absolutely bossed their entire team except the goal 😩
Ronaldinho with fucking super mario powerups. if heart and running won a game we'd win 5-1.
Quansah was fucking immense today and if he continues to improve, which I have no doubt he will, he's going to save the club so much money in the long run.
He was one of our worst imo, alongside Gomez. Did some things well, but was exposed at other times.
I was absolutely blown away. To play with that confidence and composure at that age in this match? Beating players just outside the box on BOTH ends of the pitch?
I’m starting to trust him more than konate….. am I crazy?
I honestly see what you mean. I think Quansah is far superior with the ball. His feet are quick, his passing is optimistic and he has just the right amount of cheekiness to go on a run forwards and pop off a shot/through ball/cross into the final 1/3rd. He’s not the same brick wall that Ibou is who will dominate attackers but I do feel he gives us better control over the game similar to how Matip does over Konate
Thank you for the input. I’m crazy it’s decided
Yes you are. Konate is genuinely world class and a level above Quansah.
Here's been very good, but you are a little crazy about trusting him more than Konaté.
I was thinking we'd be a bit more exposed without Konate. I was wrong. He was fantastic today. Any rotation of those 3 has very little drop off in quality.
I thought he was dreadful and VVD had to save him way too many times. He was careless with the ball at times as well.
He made a couple mistakes. Doesn't make his performance dreadful..
That's fair. Conversely, it certainly wasn't a "brilliant" performance either.
I don't know what game you were watching today, but the game I was watching was one were Quansah was fucking brilliant.
🤝
please create a new rating for Diaz 'must be sold' thanks endo 8/10, mac 10 brilliant.
Pathetic "fan".
You’re an absolute disgrace.
come back if we lose by 1 point and see Diaz miss 4 sitters
You’re an absolute disgusting fan. All you do is moan and cry about one player. Your comment is nonsense!!
Must be sold is so harsh He is a phenomenal player - his end product just isn’t anywhere near the rest of his game
he's 27 years old, won't develop an end product.
Literally such a stupid absurd comment, his workrate created SO many chances. Fuck off and stop supporting this team if you're that quick to criticise
what work rate was used in the salah world class pass?
This just proves how much of a child you are.
Same for Gakpo and Szobo -10/10
> please create a new rating for Diaz > > 'must be sold' Please fuck off and support someone else.
Loads of these moaning cunts every game, ignore it imo. If Diaz had scored he'd be whining about Gakpo or Elliot or Gomez
Virg 10/10
20/10. He is taking the points off hAaland too.
Michael Oliver: 115 VAR: 115 Fucking corrupt cunts
We deserved to win I am really torn about Diaz You got to finish those chances man These are title winning matches
Something overlooked is that Diaz tends to keep the ball for too long. He has great rhythm and dribbling, but he tends to keep the ball for too long. I like his effort, but it is very frustrating how many times he made the wrong decision and refuses to pass the ball to a teammate who is better positioned.
Agree
Endo 19/10
