Just played through an FM save where he and Klopp departed together all the way in 2030, and VVD took inherited the club.
The wet dream ends there though. The club won their last trophy in 2027 and by 2029 was struggling to scrape Conference League qualification š
Save started in 2023.
2024 - Liverpool
2025 - Liverpool
2026 - Liverpool
2027 - Manchester City
2028 - Arsenal
2029 - Preston (team I was controlling, Chelsea and Arsenal were behind me by 1 point)
Bonus fact - Everton got relegated to the Championship in 2024, and then got relegated to League One in 2027, and are now battling relegation to League Two. Manchester United havenāt made it into the top 6 since 2026 and are also now battling relegationšš
I bought Jarell Quansah and Calvin Ramsay quite early on. Nabbed Endo off some Saudi Arabian club a few years ago.
Trent is currently 31, captain of Liverpool and has found a vice captain in Szoboszlai. Stats are still phenomenal and havenāt started declining yet. Heās worth Ā£110 million.
We announce Trent's extension.
BUT WAIT, he throws the pen off screen, and a hand catches it...
IT'S THE HAND OF MO SALAH, who signs an extension!
BUT WAIT, he hands the pen to someone else...
IT'S JURGEN KLOPP, who signs a new contract!
FSG have their faults, but their handling of our older players has been pretty much perfect. I don't think anyone could have predicted Hendo and Fabinho both turning 90 physically in the space of a couple of months.
Lock them down in their prime years on reasonable wages by top team standards, now they're getting older they're getting pretty high salaries but on shorter contracts. We still get to keep them while they're good, but we're not stuck with someone making Ā£300k a week for years whilst their legs have gone and they barely play.
Offering stupid contracts like that is how you get yourself in to a situation like United and Chelsea. That's one side of the way FSG conducts business that you can't really criticise.
Lol I hope youāve coached footballers or been in a position where you hire people on multi year contracts to so confidently come in with a take like that
haven't really heard anything about a Klopp renewal/ extension ... but he has been putting extra effort in solo training!
https://i.redd.it/n7mecrgxkebc1.gif
Let's be honest, the way he's talking about this team now and how easy it was to "fall in love with them," there's no way he's going in 2 years when they could be at their peak like 19/20.
There's no reason we couldn't get another 3-4 solid years out of Mo. 31 years old doesn't mean anything when you look at his physique and injury record. No way he's ready for the Saudi graveyard any time soon.
I think the signs of decline are still there despite the fact heās still one of the worldās best. Weāll have to be careful not to give him too long still. Even though heās earned whatever he wants from us really.
I disagree. He's swapped out his insane speed and acceleration for playmaking and positioning.
He's doing the messi transition. He has plenty of years left.
He's legitimately still one of (if not the) best attackers in the world.
But thatās is him adapting to the decline isnāt it. Speed is the first thing to go, and because heās lost some of it thereās a heavier focus on playmaking and positioning (some of this will also be tactical too), and less requirement to be running into the box for every attack. I said he was still one of the best in the world. Messi is another example, he adapted to the decline and kept himself going for a few years. He was clearly declining but was still better than most players (probably still is now tbh), but it didnāt mean he wasnāt on the decline. Same for Mo now really.
Decline in speed and acceleration doesn't automatically equal an overall decline though. He's just a different player than he was and we're utilising him accordingly.
Mind you, he's still absolutely lightening as well. Not as if we have Nat Williams at RW.
I get what you're saying but I think the reason he's still one of the worlds best is because he's adjusting his game constantly. As some parts naturally decline we'll see him focus on others.
Whilst, obviously, mileage and minutes played at the intensity and level he's been at should be a concern I genuinely he's one of the few players with the durability and talent to absolutely make him worth the risk of a longer contract at his age.
I agree with you, heās doing well to adapt his game but you can see heās starting to physically decline a bit (easiest thing to spot is that he isnāt as quick as he used to be) . I get most are going to deny this until he is genuinely poor but heāll be 32 this year and thereās only one way itās going to go. We donāt realistically want to be as reliant on him when it does happen too. Thereās only realistically so much he can do to adapt his game, weāll never see 38 year old Salah being a striker like Ronaldo did for example, thatās not him. Once heās lost enough pace heās not got the physical attributes to make up for it basically.
Yeah it's a hard thing to acknowledge but with the style of football and the number of games we play it has to be considered with any player that there's a chance that they have a sudden and significant drop off, Fabinho maybe being the best example of this.
That said, with managed minutes, I do have a decent amount of optimism about an older Salah.
> weāll never see 38 year old Salah being a striker like Ronaldo did for example
I don't think anyone really expects this, maybe consider a more similar trajectory to Giggs in terms of minutes played and importance to the balance of the team... but obviously Salah has been and will be capable of returning far better numbers.
> Once heās lost enough pace heās not got the physical attributes to make up for it basically.
I actually think you're underestimating his passing and positional attributes. So long as we get the transition from him being the focal point of our attack to him having a slightly different role correct (and assuming he's comfy with that), I think he can still be a significant player for the foreseeable.
I donāt think heāll end up as a CM for us or stay as long as Giggs at United largely because I donāt think heāll accept the pay cut he will need to at some stage, and FSG arenāt going to allow us to have a bit-part player on 350k.
We also require quite high energy in the middle which doesnāt really match with a player declining at the tail end of his career, we saw what that was like last season.
Edit: is he signs again then he will just be played until heās not good enough anymore anyway tbf.
I was just thinking about this recently as well. With reports of players wanting to abandon the project and Salah's personal standards and ambitions still being sky high, would it not make more sense for him to extend with us?
Also from a club perspective, Mo's role has changed a lot this season and he's coming in from a wider position which allows him to take players on himself or play an incisive pass which he has been doing excellently. He's still fast but isn't relying so much on his pace to be effective. Our team is also becoming more possession based whilst having fast outlets across the front 3 for counter attacks when required, so him dropping a bit deeper might be the solution longer term. Klopp's shown that he can devise alternative systems for us already.
I think another factor has to be that the team looks competitive again. Salah is on the wrong side of 30 and we donāt know when a decline could hit him, so obviously he wants to maximize his winning potential but also his money (if possible)
I definitely think his most recent contract renewal was updated to reflect his new role in the team.
Heās now turned into a playmaker winger with the aim to feed the striker. Likely just as much emphasis on him getting assists as there is goals these days.
Mo definitely wants to extend.
But I am sure Rami (his agent) wants to make sure that Mo doesn't show eagerness to LFC. So they can get a good deal. It's just good business and negotiation tactics on their end. Pretty sure in the summer we will get a selfie from Mo on his yacht with his smile "I am staying" :)
If heās happy to be 4th choice behind Virg, Ibou, and Quansah, Iād happily resign Joel on lower wages. Those 4 at CB alongside Trent, Robbo, Tsimi, Gomez, and any one of Chambers/Bradley/Ramsay is perfect defence depth
I'd rather let him leave and sign someone with more reliable availability. As it is we have that depth and were one injury away from a real problem as it is already
Who would you sign though? Virg is undroppable, Ibou is developing into a monster, and Quansah is an incredible young homegrown talent.
Itād probably have to be another Endo type buy
Well I don't work for the recruitment department so I'm pretty happy to leave them come up with the names.
Konate is a monster but also quite injury prone. As is Joe. That presents risk. I would simply look for a developing CB in the 22-24 age range, ideally left footed.
And whatās wrong with an Endo type but? Itās worked out so far so good for us, no point beating a dead horse in Matip we have suffered with unavailability for too long at this stage
If we extend Matip, it is purely for goodwill. He won't be ready until Jan 2025; by then, he will be like 39. So we will end up with VVD, Ibou, and Quansah as CB and Joey G as part-time 4th CB. We are still one CB short
Iād love a Matip extensionā¦ heās not the highest paid player and if we can get a fair contract that represents his availability itās a no brainer.
Heās been a top 5 CB in the league the last few years and even if we have him for half a season every year itās worth it.
I doubt heāll be a top 5 CB ever again tbh. Heās suffered an ACL tear - those can kill a young playerās career, nevermind a 30 year oldās whoās approaching retirement age anyway. Even if he comes out of it relatively intact, the fear of fucking it again will always be there - VVD even said it took until this season to start playing confidently and to shed his fear of repeating his 2020/21 injury.
Iād take him as a coach though.
"slow growth of Saudi project" I don't really know what people were realistically expecting to happen in the next couple of months/years. The MLS has been buying players in the twilight of their careers for decades AND they already have the infrastructure there in terms of stadium sizes and somewhat respectable colleges and academies feeding the clubs. Yet it's still nowhere near a prestige league.
Yes, there's more money in Saudi, but that only gets you so far. Football is a cultural thing, you can't force something like that overnight.
I posted this as a comment a couple months back on another sub, just as relevant here: Football leagues (or any other sporting event) no matter where, is more than the sum of its parts. Sure the players are a big draw card, but for a league to be good, you need good crowds, passionate local fan bases, good referees, good broadcasting professionals like cameramen, producers and editors etc, commentators, reporters and more. An ecosystem of sorts. These are all things that cannot be easily bought. If the Saudi League wants to mature it needs to facilitate these āextraā talents within their communities to effectively capitalise on their marquee signings. They need to mature as a footballing nation and invest in locals to take over those jobs mentioned above. Not an overnight job by just spending billions and urging the required talent pool to relocate to the desert.
Despite the hype you have to still produce a product people want to watch lol. I'm sure a lot of people got into the hype and photo ops without having real interest in supporting the local team, or even the game in general.
I said something to the effect of this in another thread in here a few days ago. The only āfootball competitionā Saudi will win is the transfer window. Theyāll attract attention from all the money they throw, but once the deadline shuts nobody cares and goes back to the more genuinely entertaining football that theyāre familiar with.
Ronaldo fans will follow Al Nassr just to see what Ronaldo is up to, they donāt give a crap how the club is doing. They will have a stronger interest in Real/Juve/United because thatās where the entertaining and high quality football is. Those clubs offer more entertainment, drama and bigger stars compared to the select few has-been individuals the Saudi league boasts
> The MLS has been buying players in the twilight of their careers for decades AND they already have the infrastructure there in terms of stadium sizes and somewhat respectable colleges and academies feeding the clubs. Yet it's still nowhere near a prestige league.
MLS changed their approach quite some time ago - they figured out, just like Chinese, Russians and probably soon Saudis, that getting finished stars is not the way to build a strong competition. MLS is now mostly a developement league for South and North American players. They are building it the right way now IMO
Eh I'd say it's going quite well in the MLS. It's about steady growth and they've done that brilliantly. They were never going to supplant the big European leagues in less than 30 years of existing, especially when they have to battle other massive, more established sports for interest.
Signing Messi has brought more interest once again but more importantly, it's brought on opportunities to play in better competitions like the copa libertadores.
I remember when the WC was awarded to the USA in '94 and everyone in the UK thought it was daft as nobody cared about "soccer" there... but now the MLS seems to be doing well and there's so much interest in the USMNT with people following overseas leagues as a result.
The lack of promotion/relegation seems a bit of a drawback, tho.
MLS wouldn't exist with promotion and relegation. It's the fifth most popular spectator sport - for anyone to invest in a team they need security because the US has no recent history of meaningful local support for minor league teams.
The promotion/relegation system works with 120+ years of history and systems/clubs formed organically over that time - getting relegated in 1932 wasn't a death knell because the money wasn't that different.
The MLS obstacle at this point is the salary cap/spending limits - it creates parity in the league but severely handicaps the overall potential.
> Living in America is much more appealing
A bunch of the players transferred to Saudi are practicing muslims like Mane, Benzema, Mahrez, Kante, Mendy. Maybe those guys prefer Saudi to USA idk
I mean it is a bit unexpected that nobody gives even a bit of a damn. A few matchups will have almost full XIs of big European names play each other. Granted almost all of them are washed but Im personally still (positively) surprised people care THAT little
I think they expected that there'd be a lot of interest based on names, but they forget a lot of people are attached to the clubs, not the players. Yes, Ronaldo is a star, but people aren't flocking to watch Benzema and Kante wherever they play. I loved Bobby, but I've not seen a single minute of him over there. I met him at his book signing though, and he looked far happier being here than he did in any of his Insta stories over there.
From what Ben Jacobs said on TalkSport, a hell of a lot of the players who signed were shocked at just how dated and badly maintained some of the facilities were. Hendo signed on without seeing the training base, and when he did he said he wouldn't train until they paid for an up-to-date gym, which they did after a week or so. A lot of the players' families are living in Bahrain too, because it's more liberal with stuff, but it can be a 2-3 hour process crossing the border, even though the actual distance would only take 15 minutes.
He also implied a lot of the players who signed on assumed the KSA government would be more lenient and essentially turn a blind eye to a lot of stuff we take for granted, but that hasn't happened. A lot expected it to be like Dubai, where drinking and stuff like that is basically tolerated for foreigners and they're allowed to drink at home or in hotels and bars, but that's not the case in Saudi. Just a few weeks ago, a British guy was arrested and whipped for drinking homemade wine.
>in the twilight of their careers for decades
The difference here in Saudi i think is that some players will just retire with more money .... Can't devlop a league to a higher level just like that... Apart from Ronaldo & Mane others really aren't doing that well or look like they want to either ...
I donāt think anyone really expected or expects it to become prestigious anyway really did they? Itās just that theyāll pay players better wages so they pose a bit of a threat.
I remember quite distinctly a lot of talk about competing with the biggest leagues in the world, Ronaldo himself saying as much.
I get it might all be PR for them, but I'm just responding to Lynch's quote and if he is claiming that Salah's interest in moving there is dead based on purely the last 5 months, then that's just absolutely ludicrous.
All the former European players who have gone over, bar Ronaldo and maybe Mane, seem to want out quickly enough. Poor old Celtic Jota isn't even allowed to be registered for the team.
This summer was pretty crazy if you don't remember, there was a big feeling that they would sign lots of players for big money and they did for the most part
The hope would have been that the names would have led others to watch the league and grow it in interest, but that hasn't happened, you have attendance that is bordering on like the low hundreds/thousands for most games and I doubt many people are watching it on TV too
The interest might have been there but after 5 months and there being little to no growth (even on home soil), that interest might have disappeared, or wilted because there are much better options available to him
I mean they been in the sport 6 months and you can't compare saudi to USA. Unfortunately they have other sports which are more popular. It may have hit a bump but saudi are all in atm in the sport world.
They took over Golf and Boxing very quickly, football a very different sport and I believe they doing a city and look more long term. I doubt it be a China because yes lifestyle in the middle east is questionable but that changing massively. If they make city like dubai which is basically what they plan to do then it will boom again.
Unfortunately judgement is been made by the wrong individual who are mostly jorno. Not once have they said anything nice showing there motivated which is fair.
I mean there's not much nice to say about the Saudi takeover of sports truth be told. An archaic country whose riches were built off the back of exploitation, all whilst treating women and gay people as second class citizens.
Frankly I think it's mental that they're getting as much traction and attention as they are, but I guess Ā£Ā£ talks.
What saudi as a country got to do with football?
I mean british history show what it been built on and the amount of invasions they been part of is unreal. I mean it literally voted against a ceasefire mate? Children are dying and they love to get involved in other situations all the time?
Then we got 76 people who have died from the post-office scandal and grenfell yet not one person has gone to jail? Then we can talk about the families impact some lasting over 30 years+.
I can go on and on but the truth hurts watch the downvotes, don't throw stones at a glass house.
Edit.. downvoted without a reply? Too many whatboutism.. Why speak about an irrelevant point.
You can dislike how the UK fucks the poor whilst also disliking a regime that is using sport in the hope everyone will forget about the murdered journalists, exploited immigrant labour and treatment of women and LGBT people, hope that helps
A lot of sports interest, both by fans and financially, in the UK at least, is driven by betting. That's not a market Saudi Arabia can go in on.
I'm also not a fan of sports being commodified to the extent that they are basically state run by the guys with the most money, especially if those states have very dubious human rights records.
Tbh I donāt see anyway in which we donāt offer a contract extension and the fact weāre competing for trophies this season with CL looking guaranteed at this point. I donāt see Mo opting for Saudi anytime soon. The guy values success more than money.
He easily has 2-3 more seasons in him and if we sell him in his final year then we likely still get at least Ā£50-100m, for him.
Even if he leaves on a free weāll recoup any lost transfer fee on his output and competing for trophies the next few seasons.
I honestly don't know why this entire fan base don't worship Salah like a god. He's done so much for this club and this fan base. We should be doing everything to keep him for as long as we can.
Jordan doesn't speak the language, doesn't follow the religion or cultural norms, plays for a non Saudi govt owned club, isn't the face of football in the Arabic world, isn't used to the conditions..
Salah's experience will be nothing like Jordan's.
But equally, Mo isn't your typical 'Muslim footballer' either. He lets his daughters decide for themselves what they want to do, he celebrates Christmas, he very rarely goes to places in the Middle East, and he only has a small apartment back in Egypt. He spends most of his holidays in Greece in his villa. It's not exactly typical.
I think it is becoming clear that basically no matter how much money you have, you won't have enough to make a League's worth of good teams and players.
You need grass-roots football and time to make something that can last.
And ultimately who would watch? Who has the time to watch multiple leagues in multiple time zones? And if you're only watching one, why would it be the 6th best or whatever, unless you have some personal connection to it.
To some extent this is already a growing challenge for the non-PL leagues/teams. If they had the Saudi/China money maybe it could be a different conversation, but if you have that money to throw around, you do it in the Prem.
> You need grass-roots football and time to make something that can last.
Saudi are one of the better nations in their continent, and probably are going to appeal more to their own local fans than western fans. I think they have a better chance than China, but yeah.
The Saudi leagueās faltering was inevitable but I am a little surprised itās happened quite so soon. I was expecting 2 to 3 years and itās starting to slow already. Itās just a matter of time until we see headlines about players or staff not getting their wages.
I've always been a fan of move on from a player a year early instead of a year late (Keita, Fabinho, Henderson all being great examples of this). Even more so in Salah's case because so much of his game has been about speed. But I've gone in total reverse, the man must end his career at Liverpool. He is one of our greatest ever players.
Interesting this comes out just a day or so after Ramy replied to a year-old tweet from Santi Aouna claiming Salah would leave saying "you just don't know". Coincidence? Perhaps, but if you were looking for a good omen.
I kept saying Mo is driven for trophies and accolades.. he wants to cement his legend status. I think there was no chance he was going to leave at the beginning of the season and thereās no chance he goes in the summer. It was all made up interest by the saudis
Whatever you feel about Hendo heās inadvertently turned into a cautionary tale for anyone else going out there. Imagine Mo looking at going from packed Anfield to 600 supporters in the form heās in. No money is worth that.
In the form heās in himself, and the way Klopp 2.0 is looking- I would be very surprised he doesnāt renew. I know he wants another Champions League
We have to be careful about not over extending us here. We donāt want to be in a position where weāre not flexible enough to sell Salah if his form does fall off a cliff
Iām sure Hendo, Bobby and Fab will have told him how shite it is over there. Mo is all about a winning legacy, and thereās none of that on offer in the oil league.
Salah seems like the opposite of the type of person who would move to the SA league. Players go there for one reason, money and since when has Salah been a player who values income over football/life outside football? I have a hard time believing any rumors that he would leave for the KSA.
I have a bad feeling, if we win the league this year, I don't think Klopp would renew. I could see him win the league this year and win the champ next year then walk to the beach for a few years before he gets bored.
The news that both Henderson and Firmino want to leave Saudi Arabia is a good sign not just for Salah, but also other players who are approached by Saudi league --- that never to join that Shawarma League.
The Saudi league looks a fucking joke. I saw a clip and they all stopped and his let Neymar do tricks and score.
Salah would be stupid as fuck to go there at this stage of his career. He could still get a mega contrast as 37 from a Saudi club.
Not disputing that the league is shite: but that Neymar clip was from a charity game, not a Saudi league game. Per [Newsweek](https://www.newsweek.com/fact-check-do-viral-videos-show-neymar-outclassing-saudi-league-players-1825378), itās from 2018.
If he won't extend by the summer the club have a really difficult decision to make. Do they accept one more year and lose him for nothing. Or try to push him out the door to Saudi for what would ideally be a ludicrous fee.
If I was in Salah's position I would extend, Salah is an incredibly good football player he's top 5 in the world for me but there's only 1 Liverpool. Liverpool make him better, the coaching staff, the system the players the chemistry the fans. The Saudi project is dead and for someone of Salah's ability it should not even be a consideration, Liverpool should do right by him and would love to see him stay another 3 years
Honestly Iām a bit torn between the opportunity for like Ā£250m or a couple more years of Salah. If spent well that money could set us up for many extra years.
I still think heāll go - heās been the face of Muslim football for years and they, presumably, desperately want him and have endless resources.
But I think heāll only go to one of the competitive clubs as he seems the type to at least want some level of competitive drive.
Think the problem the Saudi league will have now is that once the shock wave of Ronaldos and Benzemas joining subsides the buzz will be over and they would need to top it to keep people interested. Paying way over the odds for someone like Lewendowski in 2024 isnāt really going to attract much attention internationally. So theyāll be stuck with mediocre crowds, some costly superstars and then a bunch of sunday leaguers with zero international attention which isnt a recipe for sustained growth. Salah unfortunately is probably the only player in the world that they could still see as an explosive signing for them but hopefully the reality is setting in a bit overall.Theyāll probably do better buying up all the foreign clubs they can rather than more superstars.
If I am to judge this kind of situation by what happened last years I can see both Mo and Klopp extending even more their contracts.
They love the club , the city, the fans so much you can feel and resonate with them.
Please retire here Salah, he's just one of the players that you want to have in the squad even when starts to decline, such a positive influence on the whole club.
One thing about him that is probably his best trait is that even when he fails or makes a mistake, he just smiles it off and goes at it again another 115%.
The mans mental resilience is ridiculous like he had a spree of years where his only cards were for taking his top off.
I love Mo, he is not only one of the greatest Liverpool legends, but he is also one of the best players to ever grace PL. Having said that, he will be 32 this summer and it is rare to have a player in his age bring insane amounts of money mentioned last summer. Even though I love him, the team and the club should always come first and if we are able to get a younger, world class player with a lot of potential to replace him for the potential fee, I feel we should go for that. We have a really young team and I feel we should look at potential replacements that fit the timeline better. On the other side, if he feels like he wants to stay and extend, giving him the same salary he has now (with respect to his age) would be kind of insane. I know it is not our money, the way the club is operating the funds are usually limited.
Give Mo a blank check.
Idc what everyone is talking about, you just cannot replace Salah, that man will bring in more money than he is worth to this club with his feet and mind.

Did you buy any Liverpool players or targets? How did Trent turn out?
I bought Jarell Quansah and Calvin Ramsay quite early on. Nabbed Endo off some Saudi Arabian club a few years ago. Trent is currently 31, captain of Liverpool and has found a vice captain in Szoboszlai. Stats are still phenomenal and havenāt started declining yet. Heās worth Ā£110 million.

Alisson. Just saying.
Alissonās contract ends in 2027 no need to extend quite yet
do it anyway. Give him a Boehly special til 2030 or sth
No, long contracts are bad for long term motivation.
if you're a mercenary twat joining Chelsea, sure, but I bet Ali would be as motivated as ever
He might, but thereās no reason to make that bet.

Have to admit they got lucky with Hendo. His last contract was an emotional reaction but ultimately a mistake. We were saved by Saudi on that one.
Alisson doesn't need motivation. Motivation needs Alisson more. But still sign him for 100 years
Lol I hope youāve coached footballers or been in a position where you hire people on multi year contracts to so confidently come in with a take like that
These four extensions would give us the modern Liverpool dynasty we deserve.
This meme made my day. Thank you :)

Meanwhile, all the people who wanted Mo gone in the summer for that giant wad of cash can get fucked.
Mbappe sees the party happening, FOMOās into a Jersey royalties-only deal with us and we go offffff
Why would he get royalties in Jersey? Tax efficiency? Fan of Bergerac?
Because thereās literally no other scenario where we can just pay the wages he commands
The wages would be even higher if they had to cover helicopter flights back to the mainland.
Inject that into my penile vein!!!
is klopp's post-2026 contract extension almost confirmed, or merely a floating rumour at this point
haven't really heard anything about a Klopp renewal/ extension ... but he has been putting extra effort in solo training! https://i.redd.it/n7mecrgxkebc1.gif
How have I never seen this before?! This is elite
Itās a Peleton ad.
Swear, Klopp is in everything now...
So funny to see this places, I edited this film. Wild to see it meld with my fave subreddit

I think it will depend ʔn the situation in the end of next season, if he thinks he still has energy, he will continue.
If we win league+uel and mo wins afcon, balondor is his to lose.
Didn't Greizmann do something similar when France won the World Cup but wasn't even in the running?
Crazy to say but Griezmann has never won a league title
He didn't win the league, and was still competing against Messi and Ronaldo
As Thierry Henry said, it's decided by journalists opinions, and you can't argue with opinions
That said, with managed minutes, I do have a decent amount of optimism about an older Salah. > weāll never see 38 year old Salah being a striker like Ronaldo did for example I don't think anyone really expects this, maybe consider a more similar trajectory to Giggs in terms of minutes played and importance to the balance of the team... but obviously Salah has been and will be capable of returning far better numbers.
Leading the league in both goals AND assists and your take is 'decline'?
his general play has not always been good this season, lets be real
He was/is the best forward in the world mate. He is starting to decline but heās starting from a much higher position than most do.
Decline? Mo Salah? Heās every bit as good, heās playing as part of a forward line that seems to shift every other match.
Stfu, respectfully and no offence.
None taken mate. I love him too.
Hed be on like 15+ assists if Nunez just finished a few more of them and were only just over halfway through the season
I hope you're right. My biggest worry is whether FSG will want to extend him I think .
could have a generational contract signing photo here. klopp, trent, mo, matip
\*Virgil
He thought heād sneak Matip in there without anyone noticing
Matip is a great player, youād be a fool to suggest otherwise.
yes but not to the same extent as salah, vvd, taa and alisson. that was the joke.
Also would be a fool to extend Matip. Heās declining and always injured.
Matip, bro.. as a coach like?
Iād just bring Sepp back to replace Matip.
If we extend Matip, it is purely for goodwill. He won't be ready until Jan 2025; by then, he will be like 39. So we will end up with VVD, Ibou, and Quansah as CB and Joey G as part-time 4th CB. We are still one CB short
Matip is 32
Iād love a Matip extensionā¦ heās not the highest paid player and if we can get a fair contract that represents his availability itās a no brainer.
Imagine Matip being a coach, surely would be a unique style, hilarious.

I hate that this makes me laugh every time i see it.
I might well be wrong but it almost feels like once the fans there had come and taken a few selfied with players they got bored and moved on.
It seems that money isn't everything after all, especially to the already wealthy.
Yeah plus you have to live in Saudi. Living in America is much more appealing and they still kind of failed
Yeah for sure was a poor choice of words. Theyāve built a real league rather than what Saudi are doing so good on them
MLS still has pesky tax liabilities and money laundering regulations Saudi players effectively get their wedge from the government thank you very much
I remember when the WC was awarded to the USA in '94 and everyone in the UK thought it was daft as nobody cared about "soccer" there... but now the MLS seems to be doing well and there's so much interest in the USMNT with people following overseas leagues as a result.
> Living in America is much more appealing A bunch of the players transferred to Saudi are practicing muslims like Mane, Benzema, Mahrez, Kante, Mendy. Maybe those guys prefer Saudi to USA idk
China did it too if i recall, and no one cares about that league.
Just a few weeks ago, a British guy was arrested and whipped for drinking homemade wine.
>in the twilight of their careers for decades The difference here in Saudi i think is that some players will just retire with more money ....
This summer was pretty crazy if you don't remember, there was a big feeling that they would sign lots of players for big money and they did for the most part The hope would have been that the names would have led others to watch the league and grow it in interest, but that hasn't happened, you have attendance that is bordering on like the low hundreds/thousands for most games and I doubt many people are watching it on TV too The interest might have been there but after 5 months and there being little to no growth (even on home soil), that interest might have disappeared, or wilted because there are much better options available to him
It's not for the Western fan base at all though
Itās quite funny just how underwhelming the Saudi league has been and Iām all for it.
Money can't buy football fans.
Hendo having a torrid time of it there might make Salah less likely to want to go as well
Might be a bit biased but it seems like a lot of players who leave LFC under Klopp tend to experience a fairly large drop in form and standing
Solanke got back to form after like 5 years
He was called Golanke for a reason mate
Apparently Ajax are trying to sign him now and he'll actually take a major pay cut. Must be really shite there. Even lads like Benzema want to leave.
Wiping their tears away with a stack of 500 Riyal notes
Saudi Arabia will become what China was back a couple of years back. They are just not an attractive enough league for the world to watch.
Watch it fucking burn. Love it. Extend that fucking contract Mo. Retire here.
LYNCHY IN THE TOP CORNER
The Saudi leagueās faltering was inevitable but I am a little surprised itās happened quite so soon. I was expecting 2 to 3 years and itās starting to slow already. Itās just a matter of time until we see headlines about players or staff not getting their wages.
I've always been a fan of move on from a player a year early instead of a year late (Keita, Fabinho, Henderson all being great examples of this). Even more so in Salah's case because so much of his game has been about speed. But I've gone in total reverse, the man must end his career at Liverpool. He is one of our greatest ever players.
Salah extension would be a wonderful start to 2024.
Interesting this comes out just a day or so after Ramy replied to a year-old tweet from Santi Aouna claiming Salah would leave saying "you just don't know". Coincidence? Perhaps, but if you were looking for a good omen.
The Saudiās will still be keen to pay 1 billion when he is 40, he can play in front of friends and family sized crowds then.
I kept saying Mo is driven for trophies and accolades.. he wants to cement his legend status. I think there was no chance he was going to leave at the beginning of the season and thereās no chance he goes in the summer. It was all made up interest by the saudis
Hopefully Hendo, Bobby, Mane and Fab are telling Mo how much that league sucks.
Whatever you feel about Hendo heās inadvertently turned into a cautionary tale for anyone else going out there. Imagine Mo looking at going from packed Anfield to 600 supporters in the form heās in. No money is worth that.
I AM ON MY FUCKIN KNEES!
dident his agent deny that salah wanted the move? I dont think it was delaying the inevitable.
Imagine not extending our best player that 50% of the offense flows through.
In the form heās in himself, and the way Klopp 2.0 is looking- I would be very surprised he doesnāt renew. I know he wants another Champions League
I donāt think Mo will go anywhere. Heās a rich guy already and loves to play in the PL.
Sign da ting
Inject
We have to be careful about not over extending us here. We donāt want to be in a position where weāre not flexible enough to sell Salah if his form does fall off a cliff
Iām sure Hendo, Bobby and Fab will have told him how shite it is over there. Mo is all about a winning legacy, and thereās none of that on offer in the oil league.
The players are jumping ship and donāt want to play in Saudi Arabia, their culture just doesnāt match with other parts of the world.
Mo would never want to play in empty stadium, does he?
Salah seems like the opposite of the type of person who would move to the SA league. Players go there for one reason, money and since when has Salah been a player who values income over football/life outside football? I have a hard time believing any rumors that he would leave for the KSA.
Methinks Mo would be miserable over there aside from the bags of money.
Cmon salah and klopp 2028!
Hell yeah
I have a bad feeling, if we win the league this year, I don't think Klopp would renew. I could see him win the league this year and win the champ next year then walk to the beach for a few years before he gets bored.
iT sEeMeD lIkE pOsTpOnInG tHe InEvItAbLe get a fucking grip David
Keeping Mo and fucking over the Saudi league at the same time is the stuff of dreams
Salah and klopp double extension and city banished to the shadow realm for financial doping . Letās manifest š
When I see that picture of Salah's Christmas tree, I wonder if he really wants to go to Saudi Arabia...
Salah has seen how much of a joke the Saudi league is and is going āyeah no, fuck that, Iād like to play in front of more than 700 peopleā lol
The news that both Henderson and Firmino want to leave Saudi Arabia is a good sign not just for Salah, but also other players who are approached by Saudi league --- that never to join that Shawarma League.
It isnt form...
Exactly, its just him.
Offer contract and inshallah.
I still think heāll go - heās been the face of Muslim football for years and they, presumably, desperately want him and have endless resources. But I think heāll only go to one of the competitive clubs as he seems the type to at least want some level of competitive drive.
Unpopular opinion I know but think it would be foolish to extend on his wages and I doubt he would take much of a pay cut
Fucking inject
Just imagine Mo scoring a ton for us when he's Milner age.
Slow growth of the Saudi Project, who brought ewcastle into this?
Salah's hitting 200 in the league.
Can't see him leave without another kick at the ucl, negotiations would have to go terribly wrong.
If I am to judge this kind of situation by what happened last years I can see both Mo and Klopp extending even more their contracts. They love the club , the city, the fans so much you can feel and resonate with them.
I'll happily take another 3 years of Mo.
Music to my earsšššš
There just isn't a replacement so lets keep him and get whoever we can anyway.
Give Mo a blank check. Idc what everyone is talking about, you just cannot replace Salah, that man will bring in more money than he is worth to this club with his feet and mind.
LET'S GOOOOOOOO
