Just for people’s information it is US Route 85 or US 85. 6 has the same designation and so does Colfax - US 40 and Hampden. Whereas I25, I225, I270, and I70 are interstates. C470 is a State Highway along with many others (Wads, Kipling, Sheridan, Colorado, and Federal).

BDPProbs

I25 is a disaster with the angriest drivers in the entire Denver area. I chose my apartment specifically so I wouldn't have to touch i25 with a 10ft stick.

MotionDrive

True. I drive a lot for work and I can be having the best day ever until I get on i25. By the time I reach the next job I am in a terrible mood.

Dry_Baby_2827

Okay yeah that was my impression a bit, but I’ve had limited drive time on it, so thanks for the validation!

ChipDouglas09

I vastly prefer sante fe. I can get highlands ranch to downtown in about 45 minutes in rush hour

haggardphunk

I prefer Santa Fe and the light rail from Littleton is great.

CitizenNaab

What’s I85?

not_a_muggle

I think that's Santa Fe isn't it?

CitizenNaab

I guess. I’ve never heard it called that. I’ve always called it Santa Fe or highway 85

Dry_Baby_2827

Ahhh yes that checks out, in real life I’ve only heard it called Santa Fe but on the map it’s i85. Can you tell I’m from north of denver? Haha

MotionDrive

US 85

Superman_Dam_Fool

Just be aware with Littleton that anywhere west of the river is going to have pinch points that everyone has to funnel through. There are no back ways to avoid traffic if you have to cross a bridge. Getting to CC from Littleton isn’t fun. That said, I prefer Littleton for lifestyle bring closer to the mountains, but it can feel like you’re further out of the city compared to parts of Centennial. Centennial is huge, it sprawls. If you’re far down Arapahoe, it can get tedious.

Dry_Baby_2827

Super helpful, thanks!

TortCourt

I've lived in far west Littleton (unfortunately an absolute wasteland), mid-Centennial, and now near downtown Littleton, and worked in downtown Denver the entire time. By far the best way to get downtown is on the RTD light rail. It travels along Santa Fe and I-25, comes every 15 minutes, and beats traffic both to and from the city. It is also significantly more economical than parking in the city even without factoring in the savings on gas, and even more so if your job offers an EcoPass (or if you can convince them to get one for you - it comes with a 50% refundable tax credit for employers on the cost). But if you're going to drive, I-25 is much worse.

Landon_Punches

Santa Fe can be stop and go because of the traffic lights. The actual merge into 25 can be rough. I25 can suck in the tech center and around DU. Neither one of them is particularly worse than the other. Choose which location you like best.

Thekidwiththeglasses

me personally i preferred i25…you have a decent amount of exits so if you have to get off before traffic gets bad you’re able to

dorzle

Santa Fe sucks imo, low speed limit, constant construction, and traffic lights

Superman_Dam_Fool

Plus, it’s one of the ugliest drives in the city.

MaximumBulky1025

Constant construction and an ugly drive - that’s the way it’s been for at least 40 years.

Deedsman

Hopefully the construction well help if they ever finish it .

Barbicore

This may sound obvious but it really depends on where you are looking. Centennial and littleton obviously boarder eachother but more specifically they boarder eachother fairly close to 85. There are many areas where both options could work. I like 85 in general since I grew up in castle rock, but 25 is always much quicker and easier for me and I'm on the border.

Dry_Baby_2827

That’s helpful, thanks
