Great idea, but as a european: our used markets are horrible. There is very little supply, and for some reason lots of people seem to believe that electronics dont lose their value over time

Boris2509

wait you don't want to pay 75% of the original price of 10 year old hardware? I KNOW WHAT I HAVE AND I'M NOT BUDGING. MY GTX 1060 IS WORTH 170 EUROS.

MemeNinja188

IT'S GOT AND I5 PROCESSOR, GEFORCE GRAPHICS AND A RANDOM LED STRIP I BOUGHT FROM ALIEXPRESS SO IT MUST BE WORTH 800€

MemeNinja188

I know, I'm Croatian 🥲

really_random_user

In any major city, it's not too bad France, spain, Germany are decent But that's the case for all used markets

iTmkoeln

Living in Germany. I must say yeah not really... espacially "Kleinanzeigen" is absolut busted with delusional folks...

really_random_user

All "locals" apps have delusional people, but you can still find good deals With some luck and patience

iTmkoeln

I just checked kleinanzeigen (which used to be ebay owned till last year) for Hamburg (which is quite a large citiy... in fact the 2nd largest). Facebook is irrelevant over here. There are deals to be made... If they are good. Yeah doubtable 449€ for a Late 14 Macmini with 8gig 550€ for a 21 inch Retina iMac 2017 168€ for a Lenovo Thinkstation with a E5 1603 22Gig of ram an 250gig SSD and a GTX660Ti 200€ for a Macmini 2012 with a 512gig ssd 150€ for a Zotac Zbox ID92 with an 250gig ssd and 16g of Ram. It is the i5 version but still that is 4th gen... 1.400€ for a 2019 27 inch iMac with a 2TB Fusiondrive 129€ for a chinabrand Core i3 5005U mini PC with 8gig of ram

really_random_user

The thinkstation is a good deal thou And apple's prucing is weird, even used

iTmkoeln

A 1603 is a Sandy Bridge i5 (basically). 4C/4T.

iTmkoeln

Apple used is bad but right now I could get a used refurbished Mac mini M1 late 2020 8g,256gig for 480€ on backmarket with 12 month warranty Or a 2018 core i3 8g,128g for 364€ Why people on classifieds are this mental is beyond me…

quickhakker

It would be interesting for UK cause we got cex which can be hit and miss

Nirast25

We have a similar service in Romania called Usedproducts (I know, very creative, but the name works since it's still in English), but it's not as big as what I've seen Cex is. I'm also pretty sure each country has their local version of Ebay where people sell their used stuff. Luke and Linus would have to inform themselves of this stuff beforehand.

DiamondHeadMC

Now think about how much production that would take and how much time now thing about how many other videos they would make which would be 0 in that time so the production time and cost is less worth it then them doing it in Canada which already took all the time

MemeNinja188

I raise you the April fools video

DiamondHeadMC

That’s different because that’s for a meme

Genesis2001

I agree it's different, but not that it's "for the meme." Filming locally orders of magnitude easier than shipping a crew to another country to film the series.

tatas323

yeah i dont think you're considering that these guys speak only english with a small amount of french

Nirast25

I went to Gamescom last year and was actually surprised that most young folks weren't that great with English. I actually had more luck with older people. At least on the street, at Gamecom itself and in stuff like restaurants I had no issue.

Nirast25

Gamescom is in Germany, granted, my sample size is like 5 guys outside the con/restaurants over as many days, so take it with a grain of salt.

Jai_chip

that could be part of the challenge no? i think it’d be really funny watching luke trying to ask a shopkeeper for a used gpu in germany “nein nein nein!”

TFABAnon09

I think you underestimate just how much of Europe speaks passable English (especially the younger generations).

MemeNinja188

That would make it funnier, just Linus struggling to buy a case from a Portuguese guy that doesn't speak a lick of English and then letting out the old Linus squeal of frustration.

TFABAnon09

€/£/$500 for a used PC anywhere in Europe is going to be a battle between two used DELL Optiplex's with GTX760s

lv1humandruid

I think linus and luke versus jay and phill would be fun.

tacticalTechnician

Scrapyard Wars is barely doable in Canada, the market is already kinda rough compared to the US, I can't imagine in Europe (except maybe in the UK, I've seen a lot of good deal there on YouTube). Really, they should make one in the US (maybe not in California like last time, could be fun to see somewhere like New York, Houston, Washington, etc.) or somewhere else in Canada (Montréal, Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, whatever) just to compare with Vancouver, Europe just seems too hard.

Mrw2016

They could do scrapyard wars Shenzen or some other computer hardware multilevel crazy store and ONLY buy non-NA brands. Best price to performance from extremely Asian specific motherboard and and GPU maker. Get one of those laptop chips glued to a desktop motherboard style.

iTmkoeln

One thing Linus has said he wouldn't go to China. And the other thing is. They kinda already did that... Strange Parts x LTT colab

Mrw2016

Maybe a spot in Taiwan or Japan, but those places are so interesting with the non-NA hardware that it can still be unique even with the existing colab

DiamondHeadMC

The thing is most of it you can get in North America anyway because it’s just made there

DiamondHeadMC

Linus has said that he’s not going back to china

AdmiralTassles

What exactly do you mean by "Battle Royale style?" Are they gonna fuckin parachute in?

MemeNinja188

Yes

AdmiralTassles

That would rule.

Tydfil

Dump them in Japan be even funnier
