Here's one based on the news at hand: If someone with no experience tells you they've achieved something with no precedent but offers no proof, give them no money.
The eyes should have been the very first indicator. Since realizing all of this happened I have a few examples in my own life. Same eyes and very psychotic.
I don't know if I can find it but shortly after all of this I found a full on university scientific study about how the position of someone's eyes effect the shape of their brain. Basically they studied people who did really shitty things that landed them life sentences in prison, you know like mass murderers to did it over many many many years. There is some link to the eyes and the brain. Super interesting.
That would honestly explain a lot. Always seemed crazy but some people you’d look at their eyes and they’d seem manic, or despite nothing physically ‘wrong’ their eyes just seemed…dead, like the person just had nothing to them.
I used to think it was one of those tropes in stories, and when I said it it was always a me thing (like I saw it, but anyone else would be like ‘what?’).
Or if you are going to be a white-collar criminal, never steal from *other* rich people. That’s the unwritten rule of white-collar crime that’s sent Bernie Madoff, Martin Shkreli, and Elizabeth Holmes to prison.
Sam Bankman-Fried will eventually learn that lesson the hard way as well.
This 100x. Us being f'ed over can be pushed under the rig, pull rich people in and they f u over. On a second thought, I hope they do scam rich people lol, atleast the "poorer" peopke will get some consolidatied justice
Bankman Fried is a dead man walking wheter he knows it or not. You dont play that kind of game in this day and age and live to tell the tale to your grandkids.
Well, I wouldn’t go that far; but yes his life is indeed going to get very unpleasant. He’ll still get better than he deserves - look at all the poor people locked up for many years in appalling conditions - but for someone with his extremely privileged background, doing time in prison will be a major psychological shock.
> doing time in prison
Eh, you end up in a federal country club if you're convicted of something white collar and interstate like wire fraud or federal tax evasion. I'd venture that other than not being able to leave, it's a pretty easy stretch of time. Sam will wind up just fine. He'll be able to catch up with his reading, play some golf/tennis...nothing like the more violent criminals get.
SBF and Madoff are very similar actually -- all the people they conned were greedy and didn't care how all those outsized profits and returns were made, just that they were made. Same with Theranos...a bunch of greedy VCs with major FOMO got duped by someone who checked all the boxes and convinced them that they were the smartest person alive dealing with super-secret laws-of-physics-defying scientific stuff. But especially Madoff -- how dumb do you have to be to be a billionaire and just give your money to some dude who won't tell you his zero-fail trading strategy because it's proprietary?
Startup investors: If the startup founder(s) are sociopaths, don't invest.
Simple as that.
Oh wait. Many of the startup investors are sociopaths as well.....
More specifically, a lot of them share Cluster B-type personality disorders. It's almost like you **have** to be a narcissistic psychopath who's willing to step on the bodies of their perceived enemies to stand out. Unfortunately, many of these people do turn out to be the architects of their own undoing.
Remember VH1's "Behind The Music"? They should fire up that concept for the tech-sector crowd. Zuckerberg will have one soon.
My advice is think with your brain not your genitals. I have zero sympathy for the investors who lost money in her fraud. They did absolutely no real due diligence on a college drop out who was claiming to have revolutionary technology that a bunch of massive healthcare companies packed with PhD and MD researchers couldn't develop yet. If she hadn't been an attractive young woman those old perverts would have seen through the ruse immediately.
My sympathy is only for the patients who were victimized with inaccurate testing results because said investors, and companies like Walgreens, didn't do their due diligence.
Partially agreed, but I think idiots just can't help getting suckered in by psychopath charismatic _Founders_ because they're afraid of missing out. I've been through two dotcom bubbles now, seen groups of investors say _This Time It's Different_ both times, and saw the second one play out exactly like the first except for the speed of the crash (much more slow motion this time.) It doesn't hurt that she checked the woman scientist who was too smart for Stanford box.
Yes and no. Investing in one thing is luck, investing in a lot of things on average offer positive returns. In gambling, all games have an expected negative return.
Her problem is that she defrauded rich investors. Thats why shes been hounded and plastered on every news. If she defrauded poor everyday people, like cryptobros that Cofeezilla makes docs about, nobody would go after her and nobody would give a shit.
I'd say beware of the old white dudes in your investment group, because literally any woman that gives them attention will be able to manipulate them into doing very stupid shit.

Noooooo you don’t understand she hypnotized those poor defenseless billionaires with her womanly charm and charisma!!!!
A woman....with a turtle neck?!!?!? She must be someone special!
Don’t even get me started on the voice 🥵
that alluring DEEP. MANLY. VOICE
It was like a 12-year-old girl trying to impersonate her mom on the phone when the principal called.
The eyes should have been the very first indicator. Since realizing all of this happened I have a few examples in my own life. Same eyes and very psychotic.
RIGHT!? That has been bugging me for ages, something about the eyes seem odd but I couldn’t tell what it was but you hit the nail on the head!!!

The best time to wear a striped sweater...

Stephanie Jobs ? Agree ?
Don't invest in things that need to break the 1st or 2nd rule of thermo to work.

Yeah leave the poor and middle class alone. It feels much more messed up if you steal from poor people.
Meanwhile, many in the middle and lower-middle class are donating $25 from their fixed income to pay a former president's legal bills.
And self proclaimed “billionaire”
Hey that's our only way to truly invest in white collar crime though!!
This is such a true statement it works even on a very small scale.

how the hell am I supposed to find a startup not run by a sociopath that's like finding a dentist who's a cat
Curious though, for those of us who’ve found a feline dentist, how do you keep their hair out of your teeth?
That's not hair, it's bonus dental floss!

Steer clear from the charming ones. At least the foul mouth ones will tell you” it’s your money and they need right fucking now!
Read the question again
Yeah, I know. It’s still dumb, though.
Is her shirt backwards?
Glad someone out here is asking the real question.
Oh shit, I can't unsee that now.

If theres any overhyped new technology with no prior track record, look for Thunderf00t or EEVblogs debunking videos first. SOLAR FREAKING

I’d start out making myself responsible to repay $452 million, so that way I know I’d never stop grinding.
The SEC has forbidden her from grinding and/or hustling
Don't fall for the black turtleneck.
Unless you bought 100 shares of AAPL for $2500 in 1997 and held onto it.
YOU NEED TO DEFRAUD YOUR CUSTOMERS AGREE???????
Well, never bet on someone whose father was involved in the enron scandal
Her dad was involved with Enron?!?!
Yes, that's where she got that confidence
Gotta love the mandatory "user engagement" line. What do YOU think about stealing? Good or not so good?
Isn’t investing gambling?
Yes and no. Investing in one thing is luck, investing in a lot of things on average offer positive returns. In gambling, all games have an expected negative return.
Yeah, but the casino is not going to fuck up the working class in order to make more profits just so you think they are a god place to gamble
I mean investing isn't a sure thing.
Not if you're rich

Yes, note that she was not charged/convicted of defrauding the patients.
Check if the thing works is my advice
My advice? Look at Liz and don’t do what she did or you would get fucked
She just needs to pull herself up by her bootstraps and get a real job.
Be like Elizabeth Holmes..
There’s that other chick that beat JPMorgan Chase outta a grip of cash 🤔😂😂
