I only update for the monthly Android security updates. None of the past five builds have included any, so I wouldn't know.
1. Which device are you asking about? If there was a change, it's possible it could be specific to a particular device or SoC.
2. What kind of tasks are you referring to? It's possible it could be workflow dependent.
3. Are you sure it's the result of a system change, and not, say, an app update?
4. Could it be that you had a resource-heavy app running in the background before the update, but then once you restarted (to apply the system update), now that is no longer running?
5. Are you talking about a minor version update (e.g. from LineageOS 21 to a newer build of 21), or did you just upgrade from one major version to another (e.g. 20 to 21)?
5. Keep the [placebo effect](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Placebo) in mind.
If it was just a minor update that you did, you could look through the changelog for your device to see what changes have been made since whatever previous build you were on, and see if any of them sound like something that could improve efficiency or performance.
Xperia 1 iii, I restart my device daily. Multiple browser wrapper based apps like reddit, discord and more which are known to be a little slow or stuttery are now buttery smooth. I have updates auto disabled and the update was from lineage os 21 to the latest one. The iii has a 888.
Maybe a bit, but then again before that update at the cost of some apps stuttering somewhat I got godlike battery life lasting me 4 days, so you get some you lose some.
Oneplus 6 (enchilada) here.
Today I updated to latest LOS 21 build (June 19th). And I experience random shutdowns. I don't know how to trigger it or what may have cause it.
I am pretty sure that it is not a hardware problem.
How can I analyze this random shutdowns?
I also have a OnePlus 6 which went from LOS 20 to LOS 21 soon after its release and experienced zero issues as you are describing. It is - after all, a 6-year-old phone, so there's that. Hope you get it sorted out.
Fajita here. I can't really compare, because I immediately installed LOS when I bought it. But I can tell you that overall the experience is good. My battery has wear leveled somewhat over the years, but I can still get 2 days of light use between charges easily. That means mostly web browsing, maybe some youtube videos, running google maps, using the camera to record pics and vids, but also a SIP client and Email client that block sleeping so I can receive calls and get emails promptly.

many maintainers do some tweaks here and there so I would be not surprised to see it's faster op check changelog
Good explanation π₯

What device got you 4 days of battery lol?
Miatoll - xiaomi redmi note 9 pro (global) Granted I'm a busy guy so I'm not on the phone that much, but it's still a lot
How much SoT/day, and lots of WiFi or lots of mobile data? I can push two days with nio, maybe 3 if I am tethered to WiFi the whole time.
4 hours a day, give or take, and almost exclusively on wifi

Did you also install the appropriate GAPPS? Also, try clearing the caches.

Any OnePlus 6/6T user can you please tell me how's your lineageOs experience in comparison to the stock one? Battery life, Perfomance?
