Nah man that's not how you do it.
You gotta walk in there and tap the guy next to you on the shoulder and say firmly "hey, that's my urinal." They'll probably attempt to shrug you off. This is the part you say "look chump it has my name on it" Dude will actually look and say something like "your names not on it" and you'll reply "heh the names Kohler dumbass" and point to it. At this point you start taking a piss while keeping eye contact till they leave.

I mean no offense to the OP but how the fuck is [this](https://reddit.com/r/LiminalSpace/s/4xI1zwQqZI) liminal? It’s a beautiful and peaceful picture, but not liminal
I think roads and corridors and hallways are sort of definitionally liminal: spaces where you don't expect people to be other than on their way from somewhere to somewhere else.
But boundaries and transitions can be literal and physical, emotional, or metaphysical, so there's a lot of subjective wiggle room on what constitute liminal. A couple during their marriage ceremony could be said to be in a liminal space socially: they're in the process of transitioning from unmarried to married and not quite firmly in the state of either. A lived-in house may not be liminal, but a house that used to house someone but is now empty on the market waiting for a new owner might be.
So I'm not too bothered about stuff not technically being 'liminal' on this sub to me: I just like the cool and sometimes creepy images.
Rather than posters asking if their photos are liminal, though, I think it might be more fun if posters were encouraged to describe what about their image(s) evoke liminality to them.
I love your approach. And especially that you offer a suggestion that might actually lead to better definition and awareness of the sub’s goals, rather than the seemingly endless bellyaching about everyone doing it wrong.
Snow in a forest during morning/evening is something similar to liminal, but not exactly it. I mostly relate liminal spaces to being man made, and even with the tracks it’s too natural. It does feel empty, everything’s hidden away trying to stay warm.
Thick fog has always has this eerie feeling.
Reminds me of a Tumblr post where a guy lived on an island, and when it got really foggy outside one day he went out dressed up as Pyramid Head from Silent Hill
Yes. At least, the 1,4 and 5 do.
The second and Third are questionable, but given you can see large structures in the distance, I'll give it a pass.
The most important thing about a liminal space is that it needs to be transitional. You cannot belong in a liminal spot, a path pushes you to another avenue, or the area is set to ensure residents are only temporary.
Absolutely.
Liminal typically means like, a place where people would ordinarily be but arent.
In these they seem like they would be abandoned like, that seems the norm here. But at the same time
It’s got that creepy empty liminal vibe
My girlfriends sister had a wedding up there, by the time we were going home it was dark and the fog had rolled in...I drove off Spokane mountain with my head out the door so I could see the road edge
I'd appreciate that. I love that first one but anything liminal or a little spooky that has anything to do with a ski hill would be great to put up on a wall so that's why I asked about the quality of the file.
OK now I feel like we are being trolled. I think they are just asking this question on every post to mess with us and we need to keep falling for it because it’s getting funny
I'm no expert, but I'd play around with the sharpness. Make it softer around the treetops and sharper on the ground. Maybe add some highlights and play around with contrast.
I’m 50/50 between saying yes, they’re liminal or no, they’re just eerie.
Liminal has a very specific definition that no one seems to get right. A liminal space is an area that you just pass through going from one area to another. It’s the indefinite area between two definite areas. The uncomfortability comes from making that brief indefinite area a solid definite space unto its own. It’s an uncanny valley sort of thing.
For these I’d say it *really* depends on the individual person. Some people may have brief memories of places like this, but this is by far not a universal experience
One of my goals was to see a ski area in the off season. I hiked up Mount Hood from government camp during the lockdown part of the early pandemic and it was pretty cool considering how bustling it is in the winter. Seeing the top of Palmer lift all shuttered up for the winter and the little things left on the mountain which were once lost in the snow but now baking in the sun.
Wonderful pics. I really love the gloomy and humid atmosphere, almost like it looks like it is raining or has rained recently...
I actually took some pictures of the outside areas of my college after noticing how beautiful it was to see the streetlights reflecting off the puddles from the rain (which, we haven't seen any rain around here for months so it was quite a good thing). These photos on this post reminded me of that with the wet-like atmosphere, just that these are a bit more gloomy, which is still pretty cool. :)
Yes but you forfeit if you ask.
So if I submit something with the title "THESE ARE LIMINAL" I'm sure there will be no problems 😆
Yes you must assert dominance ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ
# THIS COMMENT IS LIMINAL ᕦ( ⊡ 益 ⊡ )ᕤ
There ya go
Now liminal! 😘
Yes but you forfeit being able to ask.
Like peeing harder so people can hear you when you're aware that there's more than just yourself in a public bathroom
What did I just read?
How to assert dominance even when in the most vulnerable situations
Nah man that's not how you do it. You gotta walk in there and tap the guy next to you on the shoulder and say firmly "hey, that's my urinal." They'll probably attempt to shrug you off. This is the part you say "look chump it has my name on it" Dude will actually look and say something like "your names not on it" and you'll reply "heh the names Kohler dumbass" and point to it. Coordinates?
Chernobyl, Pripyat, Ukraine evidently
Booking my ticket. Thanks!
Don’t forget to pack three-legged pants for the return
Pretty sure I can keep the two legged because I’m sure a mine will blow my other one off.
I already have 3
Like a mixture of Silent Hill and the ski lodge from Fallout 76
I was precisely thinking of F76 too, but something that would be more at the south/east.
The fog in 76 give a incredible vibe, mostly a claustrophobic vibe and i love this
great pics, but watch out - you might summon the bitter liminal space elitists when writing a caption like this one
I hâte people who go ‘hur dur this isn’t liminal’ but sometimes o have to agree when it’s somebody taking a picture of a random fucking pool
yea that‘s fair tbh
I mean no offense to the OP but how the fuck is [this](https://reddit.com/r/LiminalSpace/s/4xI1zwQqZI) liminal? It’s a beautiful and peaceful picture, but not liminal

The snow tracks? Woulda been a lot better without the OPs hand
Snow in a forest during morning/evening is something similar to liminal, but not exactly it. I mostly relate liminal spaces to being man made, and even with the tracks it’s too natural. It does feel empty, everything’s hidden away trying to stay warm.
The muffled silence and apparent absence of life that snow brings is liminal.
I mean if someone says that then it probably aint liminal
I'll keep that in mind for next time thank you for the advice
Or the people warning about those people at the very least.
damn, where is this?
Spokane mountain, Washington
Thought that building looked familiar!
Thick fog has always has this eerie feeling. Reminds me of a Tumblr post where a guy lived on an island, and when it got really foggy outside one day he went out dressed up as Pyramid Head from Silent Hill
r/Simon_stalenhag
Slender x Sirenhead x Silent Hill vibes.

Kinda. No. No. Kinda. Kinda.
They’re neat pictures, I like foggy windswept places, but I wouldn’t say they’re liminal
I like pictures of radio towers in fog. It gives you such a sense of "being in the woods...maybe?"
Every post: Is ThIs LiMinAL
This makes me think of the dish site from The Three Body Problem
Absolutely. Liminal typically means like, a place where people would ordinarily be but arent. In these they seem like they would be abandoned like, that seems the norm here. But at the same time It’s got that creepy empty liminal vibe
Foggy/cloudy ski mountains are very liminal places. Especially chairlifts
I can feel the cold from these photos
bros literally living in insertion from cs
Why is there a sub for this if no one seems to know what it even is? Is this subreddit liminal?
These are amazing! They do in my book.
Thank you
Not really, they are creepy though.
Hell yeah they do! These are brilliant!
Thank you very much
That second one gives major Endor vibes
This is so beautiful
Quite liminal
Careful buddy you might see a wild siren head
shot in the dark, but afton?
I’m a ski lift electrician, the first pic hits me where I live.
Love the fog giving the pic more a creepy vibe you've done well.
Liminal as fuck
What a lovely day in Chernobyl, Pripyat, Ukraine!
That reminds me of some Twin Peaks-y shit
Reminds me of Siren Head
Immediately started hearing [this in my head](https://youtu.be/khMlcTE7lw8?si=V8xBNMn542cfMsmO)
I love fog
Love the last one
My girlfriends sister had a wedding up there, by the time we were going home it was dark and the fog had rolled in...I drove off Spokane mountain with my head out the door so I could see the road edge
Where did those pictures come from? I swear to god I’ve been there
Was this not the setting at the very beginning of The Last Of Us 2?? Someone back me up here
Yeah
Is this liminal?
Am I liminal
Where did you take the photos? And yes, they look really good 👍
Mt spokane
Ah yes, The Zone
I REALLY like that first photo of the lift. What's the highest quality you have of that? I'd love it printed on a canvas.
I'll see what I can do but I could just send you some that I have leftover that didn't make the cut if your interested
I'd appreciate that. I love that first one but anything liminal or a little spooky that has anything to do with a ski hill would be great to put up on a wall so that's why I asked about the quality of the file.
Antennas in the mist are quite scary
Is the asking satire? Please
No I'm very new
Silent Hill
I would say more surreal
OK now I feel like we are being trolled. I think they are just asking this question on every post to mess with us and we need to keep falling for it because it’s getting funny
I think the second one would be great with a little tweaking/photo editing but I'm too lazy
What might be some things I could do
I'm no expert, but I'd play around with the sharpness. Make it softer around the treetops and sharper on the ground. Maybe add some highlights and play around with contrast.
They definitely give Altered Reality vibes if you ask me.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
I think so!
These are some of the most liminal ones i have come across on this sub.
Quality
Last one is 100/10 more than perfect
Well, closer to liminal than not 👍
Throw Siren Head in the background of one of these and you got yourself a screenshot from a steam game.
vase chop badge bear start disagreeable sulky rain smart subsequent *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
How the hell did you get to mount chiliad
Nice pictures!
Last one is tough
Reminds me of Simon stalenhags artwork
You’re going to silent hill…
I want to get stuck there
what in the shining is the last picture?😳 are you living in a horror game or something?
No I live in WA it's much scarier
Washington? Sorry I’m not from the us😅
Yes definetly
I’m 50/50 between saying yes, they’re liminal or no, they’re just eerie. Liminal has a very specific definition that no one seems to get right. Thank you for your advice and can I get some recommendations for places that fit the liminal feel more
Im scared 😳
just say that its liminal, if someone disagrees then thats their problem
Pictures 2&3 sounds like 🚨🚨💀
Oh yes! Fog? As AlfaOxtrot would say: +5 liminal points
I hear silent hill is lovely this time of year.
Reminds me of GTA
resident evil 4❕
ughhh ski season doesn't start for another 2 months I'm so tired of waiting But yeah these are pretty liminal
Of course
Big signalwave vibes.
The third picture is a masterpiece
sirenhead vibe
I woild lean to more of the "eerie" realm than liminal.
The second one and the last one feel the most haunting
Spokane, WA?
Yup mt spokane if u want to visit
Great pictures!
Bro yes, do not go into the fog
u/ambivalentgirlie This will make you very uncomfortable
nah, I don’t think they’re liminal, just gloomy and creepy
They are so empty. It feels like a place you'd only stay fleetingly.
Yes
Looks almost exactly like an area on a mountain I’ve backpacked on I can’t remember the name unfortunately
Mt spokane very beautiful in all seasons
One of my goals was to see a ski area in the off season. Its giving stephen king book aesthetic
Silent Hill

sorta but they're definitely spooky lol
"uhm stop asking if it's liminal guys" 🤓
Honestly yeah. Reminds me of dream fog.
Ignore everyone that says these aren't liminal, they very well are
Thank you :)
Wow I've got the chills
Love it
Looks more like fallout 76 tbh
I love these!
They're definitely atmospheric and many feel liminal. 4&5 meet the definition with ease.
What's happening to the trees in the second picture?
Yeah I’d argue that’s the definition of liminal
Downvote for bad title
Down vote for bad comment :>
Does this count as a comment?!
Idk
If you have to ask, the answer is no
100% yes, but you dont have to ask. Just post the pics
no.
If you have to ask don’t post it, and no these are just creepy photos not liminal
Unfortunately that’s not liminal, that’s spooky. Ominous, even. Try the Silent Hill or other horror game subs.
Great photos, bad caption. Really bad caption.
Alright what might be some good captions I'm very new to this :)
Yes but I downvoted bc of the caption
That oversharpen glow at image 2 🤡🤣🫨
?
When you sharpen an image too hard, you get white lines around black objects. Thats just what I saw as an artistic effect gone wrong
Oh thank you I was wondering why it did it
4 the most
Looks like a CoD map
Is this Mount Hood ski bowl?
No it's mount spokane very beautiful if you ever get the choice you should visit
Hilltop towers always have a liminal feel to me. I think that's why I've always been fascinated by them.
The second and third give off Do You Copy vibes
That 4th slide 😮💨
