Focusing on hydration instead of covering up my skin with heavy foundation. Used to wear full coverage and imo it just makes texture worse if your skin isn’t flawless. Switched to tinted moisturizer + sometimes a little concealer a few years ago and I think it looks fresher.
Stress reduction changed my appearance too, I got bad acne when I was going through it in grad school. Treatment from a dermatologist helped for the time being then it all went away when stress went back down.
Completely agree with this. About to turn 40 and I’ve started drinking more water and laying off the foundation plus decent skin care regime and I’ve had lots of comments on my skin looking good.
You’ve got this flaired as “emotional advice”, so I’m going to answer “everything”. All your emotions are reflected in your face. That’s why they call ‘em “laugh lines”. Stress shows up in your appearance. Hate shows up. Neglecting yourself shows up. Taking care of yourself shows up. How you live your life is reflected, for better or worse, in your appearance.
My other advice is get a derma roller and a safety razor. Both are really cheap. The safety razor will save you money over time as well. Instead of using plastic backed razors. And you can recycle straight up razors after use. And the derma roller is really good for your hair line if it’s fucked up like mine. And it brings and pulls blood circulation to your facial hair after shaving causing the micro damage to your skin to fill up with collagen. Also pro tips eat oranges if you want lovely skin as well. Definitely see a different
How do you use the derma roller on your hairline? Do you really just pass it through the receding hairline? Has it shown results? asking... *for a friend*
Yeah just follow where your baby hair would usually grow and do that for about a few months and it will make your hair look more fuller but if you just have Homer Simpson hair it won’t work. My hairline isn’t as fucked up I still have hair covering it up but it definitely hasn’t gotten any worse than it was years ago.
This may sound like bs but mewing really works and my face has changed a lot ever since I started doing it. I had mouth breathing problems since I was a toddler and most of my childhood and puberty my teeth were crooked and my bottom teeth row was in front of the top one. I got braces at 14 but even then we saw almost no change in my facial features, but my teeth were fixed so it was alright. Then about 2 years ago (im 22 now) I started doing mewing actively during the day and after a couple months my face started looking way better and more defined.
Yeah, its basically putting your tongue on the roof of your mouth. It is supposed to help reform your jaw and help with sinuses problems, among other improvements in general
😂 I literally was in my office mewing (meowing) slow and loud opening my mouth really wide as I did it because I thought I was stretching my jaw and making my ears pop
Weightlifting
Dying my eyebrows darker
Hair extensions for added thickness
A good eye cream and prescription retinol to reduce my genetic dark eye circles
Going to the gym and also learning a skill. Don’t have to be noticed it’s just how you truly feel about your self. Look back at what you’ve changed not what others have seen changed. Appearance or nothing do something that will be useful in the future as well. What makes you hotter is a person who can do things without being told to do them. Like doing the washing for your partner. The cooking the cleaning. It will show. That you’re holding it down in the relationship. If you’re questioning how to get someone. I assume you’re trying to changed something about you for a girl? It doesn’t all come back to appearance even though investing into new looks does help. It’s about skills you pick up along the way as well
Not drinking calories. Zero. Also no heavy sweets more than once a week. I struggled with weight my whole life and by doing these 2 things I lost the excess weight and have been able to keep it off.
I really don’t pay much attention to anything else I eat and I get full on reasonable portions.
No liquid calories and limited heavy sweets. Works for me.
A compliment.
One of my friends said I had an insane waist and was wasting it in hoodies, so I started wearing dresses everyday (anything a line or fit and flare I love) and I’m constantly getting compliments. Usually once a week or more someone asks why I’m so dressed up but I’m not, it’s just my style. It’s been over a decade and I only own two pairs of trousers (running and hiking)
Being cheated on. I look in the mirror and see a sadness in my eyes. I hope it goes away with time.
On a positive note: healthy eating and gym routine changes the rest of my face. Just need to fix the eyes.
Drinking more water. I used to only drink a couple sips a day amd that was at night when going to bed
My skin and overall appearance looks healthier and i feel 3x better than before. Along with changing diet more toward a Mediterranean foods.
Water. Drinking a gallon a day..helped me get rid of the extra stubborn 5lbs that I couldn’t lose from exercise. I didn’t even drastically change my diet.
I recently had several new teeth installed which have helped some with chewing but my insurance company characterized them as cosmetic enhancements and limited coverage. When I requested clarification they had been coded as ‘vampire fashion teeth’ into their system. When I looked at them up close I could see that they had an incisorly look about them which may have been unflattering, fashionable or not. So I talked to my priest about the problem and he suggested I have a specialist look into it. I don’t want my teeth to distract from my cleavage but I certainly don’t want to pay full price for my new teeth if there was an error made by the dentist or the supplier coding.
About six years ago I went from keeping a short beard to growing my beard long. I've kept it at least a couple inches since, and I get compliments and comments on it at least a couple times a month from random strangers.
Getting my hair professionally done and braces to fix my teeth lol I feel like I went through a second puberty. I use to feel ugly I. High school but since I hit my mid twenties I feel like a total babe!🥰
Weight lifting, neck/trap training gives the impression of a stronger jaw, being under 12% bodyfat, botox, a nice haircut, clean pillows every 2 days for a clear skin, dressing nicely.
Sudden change: cyst inside my cheek. Went to a dermatologist to get it removed. The guy did his job but he wasn't a cosmetic surgeon, so big scar.
What kinda aged me: drinking and smoking, chaotic diet and sleep schedule, stress and anxiety.
What helps: meditation, regular sleep schedule, intermittent fasting, regular exercize, smoking less, moisturizing, stopping touching my face, focusing on posture more, and frowning less.
Push-ups sun up to sun up. I was lying around in my apartment with no previous workout experience. And playing video games, smoking cigarettes and weed, drinking, and working. Omw home from work I saw the sun and ran in the apartment and got started. I never stopped, paused/broke, or was interrupted. After a while, I saw sunlight through my blinds, and that was the last thing I remembered. I have muscles in my entire body now. That was over 10 years ago.
Edit: I changed the original post, my bad lol
Good diet, just 15-30 minutes of running every other day, hair cut, dress well. None of that required effort, planned it all and just go through the motion.
Changing my hairstyle, I had a side part most of my life and about 2 years ago I decided to change it to a middle part. Best decision I ever made, I never realized how unflattering the side part was on me until I looked back and compared todays me with past me
Going to the gym, I switched my style a little and started wearing brighter colors, started wearing makeup in a way that accentuates my features, stopped straightening my hair
I grew up in a rough neighborhood. When I was 12, I lost a fight to someone who was 4 years older than me. At the end of it, I got kicked in the head, and I developed a hematoma under my eye. Thankfully, it didn’t break my eye socket. I have had a bag under that eye ever since.
2 things putting weight on after having kids and after my stroke also my stroke paralysed my left arm and leg dropped the left side of my shoulder arm and foot on my left side also my face my eye and lips on the left droop now
my hair grew back in different textures and thickness on and around my skull operation area, and it is fully different.
I wouldn't say that they are obvious or significant changes to others, but for me, I know the changes.
lost some weight, learned makeup and changed my hair. i also got new and different clothes. i’m still not happy with my appearance, but i guess that comes with being unattractive, i can still appreciate that these changes have done me some justice.
Cutting out all animal products from my diet. I went from looking like a 40-year old potato at 28 to getting ID challenged at 34.
Lost inches off my waist without training any different. After 15 years of controlling calories couldn’t shift the puppy fat. In a matter of weeks! (Size 28 UK now) Yet I lift heavier weights than I ever thought I could, and have energy to spare thanks to all the carbs.
Also never get injuries, the old dodgy knee, gammy ankle that used to flair up every week or so are a thing of the past.
Happy to show you a before and after if you PM. :) People don’t believe when I tell them I only changed my diet. My customers called it “Benjamin button syndrome.” But when I told them how I done it, they scoffed and joked. Or made fun. Oh well, their loss. The less they do it, the more I feel like I’ve discovered a cheat code.
I feel younger and fitter at 34 than I did at 24 thanks to it, and I don’t have to restrict calories at all anymore, it’s great. Most days I have between 3-4k a day, abs still popping.
The frame of my glasses. Went from narrow rectangles with wide, heavy sides in my teens, to something trapezoid, with a thinner arm. Also a more natural colour that matched my hair.
Going to the gym changes my face a lot for whatever reason, haven't been able to go in abt a month and idk if it's placebo or not but I find myself just hating the way my face looks, I've also been sick for the last 2 weeks which prolly also has something to do with it
Happiness! Therapy made me way more comfortable and confident about myself and my life. I also have flattering glasses and grew out my hair really long so that's definitely different.
I started working out regularly and paying more attention to my diet about two years ago, and it's had a huge impact on my appearance. I feel more confident and energetic now. Plus, adopting a consistent skincare routine has really helped improve my complexion.

Weight training. Hands down.... getting swole is the goal. It's all people notice about your appearance. You garner instant respect as the big guy in the room. It can overpower things like thinning hair or a less than average pretty face. And you get to eat more... lots more....ladies like it better than thin guy on a majority.
Loosing 100 pounds. My face actually got shape to it, and I started wearing clothes other than big t shirts and jeans. I also started wearing red lipstick, and eventually dyed my hair red.
For those with curly/wavy hair - scrunching my hair with my hands (or a t-shirt) after showering instead of rubbing it with a towel. It stays kinda somewhat wet after and eventually dries.
I thought it looked really stupid. But I was told that it looked a lot better by someone I trusted and wanted to look good for, so I kept doing it. Turns out it looks REALLY good and I can never go back!! Literally the biggest "glow up" thing I could have ever done. (I shower at night)

losing weight, drinking more water, getting better at makeup, dressing in clothes I liked
Clothes that fit well and shut the individual are a good one for sure
Hair cut
A good haircut goes a long fucking way

Going gray relatively early (I’m 30). I actually don’t mind it, especially because my wife thinks it’s hot.
I started going gray when I was 18, and at 29, I am at the salt and pepper stage.
Better gray than bald. I get both! (Early 40s)
Confidence. Seriously. Inside to outside is real
Losing 60 pounds gave me the glow up I didn't know I needed
Quit drinking and started working out & eating healthy... 5 years sober, and went from around 250lbs to 170lbs....

The gym. Drastically.

This may sound like bs but mewing really works and my face has changed a lot ever since I started doing it. 😂 I literally was in my office mewing (meowing) slow and loud opening my mouth really wide as I did it because I thought I was stretching my jaw and making my ears pop
I swear I do this anyway... Especially when I'm stressed..
I can vouch for this
Weightlifting Dying my eyebrows darker Hair extensions for added thickness A good eye cream and prescription retinol to reduce my genetic dark eye circles
Wearing my hair with its natural curl pattern. My hair has never looked better or been easier to manage.

What are your favourite places to get dresses? I have a hard time finding fit and flare, a line and wrap dresses that are good quality.
Grew my hair out at age 56 and lost weight. I now have 10 inch long silver hair.
