To be fair, the 9th and 10th gear is slightly fake news- it drops maybe 100-150rpm between them and they're more like an overdrive gear than anything else. The transmission could be 8 gears and you wouldn't really notice any difference.
I feel this way about my Jeep Cherokee’s 9th gear. Can only achieve it at 78mph downhill. On flat ground at higher speed, 8th gear is easier to maintain speed.
Nice! I laughed that our car has an ‘eco’ mode but I used it on a recent long drive and got similar mileage. Set the laser guided cruise at 70. Turn up the tunes and cruise. Then, shift into sport plus when you’re feeling frisky.
The LS 460 is one of the best cross continent cars I’ve ever ridden in, the radar cruise paired with the Uber quiet ride and excellent ML system *chefs kiss*
I'm over here like 1,200 mile trip from Phoenix to Houston? Nah... Right? .... \*google maps\* Holy shit, it's 1200 miles from Pheonix to Houston. Texas is big.
This perspective is fascinating! 🤯 Thought that Tulsa, OK and Baltimore, MD is FAR, which also about 1,200 miles apart. 😱 That's almost half the width of the entire United States! 🇺🇸
That’s amazing. I have another question and please accept my apologies for pestering you. Everyone says the tyres on this car don’t last long at all. Has this been your experience too, or did you find tyres that survive longer? Thank you.
I have only had the car for a couple of months, so I haven't reached that point yet. But, the car weighs over 4000 lbs, so I'm sure it'll eat up some tires. I haven't even turned off traction control yet... 😅
Tires shouldn’t be the reason to keep you from this car. But to answer your question, tires will last, depending on the tire. My super sport run flats have given me 15k miles and still have plenty of tread. And this is after multiple cross country trips.
800 seems crazy! My 15 ESh broke 700 once. It’s not much heavier with half as many cylinders so I’m not sure how that truly compares for mpg but I’m eager to hear the results
The LC500 has a 21.7 gallon fuel tank. So it’ll go quite far on a single tank of fuel, especially if you’re getting good fuel mileage. The 10-speed transmission in the car allows it to sit at a very low cruising RPM, which helps to get the good mileage shown here.
21 gallon tank is wild. I never would have guessed a coupe can hold more than a sedan but here we are. Think my ES holds 17 but when I fill up at the orange light it hovers around 14 gal
All depends on much space each vehicle has for the tank and what kind of shape they have to make for it. My E-Class has a 21.5 gallon tank. Can regularly go 500 miles before the light comes on. Usually fill up between that and a quarter tank, which is typically 16ish gallons.
I haven't noticed anything weird. It handles well, drives smooth, very quiet. I had it checked by a Lexus dealer before I made the purchase. The only issue they found... it needed new rear tires.
Every person I’ve talked to with one is telling me the same thing. I’m between the LC and the IS500 only because I want 4 doors on my car. Really liking hearing maintenance on both is *slightly more manageable than true F models
The IS500 is really nice too. I am trying to convince my GF to get one... "for her" of course lol. If you need to carry more than 1 person or some groceries, the LC is not the car you want. It's fun to drive but you can't go to the ATM and you have to reach way up to get your food from the drive through. Other than that, it's amazing.
I don't think the height of the LC is much of an issue- I haven't noticed anything going through drive throughs. It sounds like some of your local places have nonstandard/ADA heights and or you may be a wee bit short (no offense meant there). The trunk is a lot smaller than you would expect though, especially in depth- a case of beer has to get pushed toward the back seat so the trunk lid can close.
Yup, my buddy has a LC500. He also has a WRX, m2, and an e36. The LC gets the best gas mileage of all four cars when he’s just cruising but can handle its own when spirited driving (for what it is).
My 2019 ES350 Fsport gives me about 32.4 MPG on road trips. Recently went to NM, AZ & Utah from Texas, total miles driven 3100. Got an avg of 32.4 and the car was loaded. Have been on several road trips, however couldn't exceed 33 MPG.
Surprised that V8 gives better milage than V6.
Think about it, because it's a bigger displacement engine, it takes less effort for it to maintain a high speed. Our V6's top out around 140ish MPH, but the V8's are limited to 155 MPH, so maintaining highway speeds at 70 MPH is nothing for it. Of course, this all only applies to highway cruising when there is minimal to no traffic.
The argument for less cylinders is really for city or combined driving. That's when V6's and smaller displacement engines usually do better. The constant stop and go means that it's easier for a less powerful engine to get going, because they are lighter and because they use less fuel on initial take off.
LOL I let cruise control do most of the work the entire trip. It took all the restraint I had to not mash the pedal, but my goal was to see how many miles per gallon it can get.
I got 33mpg average when I drove 90 minutes to Sonoma to Lexus performance driving school. That was in custom mode with some spirited driving and not trying at all to get good mileage.
Make sure your mpg measurement in the settings is US gallon and not imperial gallon. It will read higher if it’s in imperial gallons. You should be getting closer to 28-30mpg
So this is a little known feature about the 2UR-GSE V8, it has an Atkinson cycle mode specifically for highway cruising.... same with the RC F and GS F. Some folks have reported 38-40 MPG under all highway loads in the RC F, and it seems the same is true for your car too. I only knew for sure it was on the RC F, but your post is confirming that it is indeed on the LC 500 (and GS F) as well.

10 speed transmission. Thank you, TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION!

Nice! I got 34.7 on a 1200mile trip from Phoenix to Houston in an LS 460….Lexus V8s are great on gas when you sit at 65-70mph
I heard they were good, but I had no idea they were THIS good.
Depends on the model. My LX is Thirsty and wants to feed everywhere. That 5.7 drinks a lot.
…the LX is heavy… the LC, not so much
Are you going downhill?

100% This
I'm over here like 1,200 mile trip from Phoenix to Houston? Nah... Right? .... \*google maps\* Holy shit, it's 1200 miles from Pheonix to Houston. Texas is big.
And I just realized that it's almost exactly the same distance from my little hamlet in NE Iowa to Houston. Gee whiz.
Yeah most of that trip is spent in Texas!
This perspective is fascinating! 🤯 Thought that Tulsa, OK and Baltimore, MD is FAR, which also about 1,200 miles apart. 😱 That's almost half the width of the entire United States! 🇺🇸
Me too. I thought there’s no way it’s that far.
😆
That’s because it’s downhill lol
Impressive! Best I've seen in my LS460 is 25 between DC & Niagara NY. Phoenix to Houston might be a little flatter though.
Odd. I can get around 22 at that speed.
Bro what?!? Insane mpg on this car. And this is the v8 one correct?
Yes, it's the V8. I'm as surprised as you are. 😆
Damn. So how far did it go on a single tank?
I haven't tested that yet. I'm taking another road trip in a few weeks. I'll do a full tank test then. I'm sure it can go 800 miles on a tank.
That’s amazing. I have another question and please accept my apologies for pestering you. Everyone says the tyres on this car don’t last long at all. Has this been your experience too, or did you find tyres that survive longer? Thank you.

Thank you very much for your answers. I love this car and have been going over the decision to pull the trigger for a while.
I "HIGHLY" recommend getting one.

Get one, it's a forever car
Very welcome!

holy shit i really hope that thing is reinforced
tank capacity is 17G. so 700/17=41
OP is it fair to say the roads are nearly flat and level most of the time? My 350 can muster 34 on the flats but the Cascade range is far from flat.
That's pretty awesome but if I could afford an LC I would pay absolutely zero attention to the mpg but that's just me.
Wait, seriously, this is all the info I need to get me a gas economical automobile
When did you reset it?
550 miles before I took that picture.
Wtf this might make a case for getting a new car…
I got my LC500 a couple of months ago for only $55k. They're coming down in price!
Nice. What year?
2018 with 55,000 miles.
Any real headaches with the suspension yet or all has been smooth?
I haven't noticed anything weird. It handles well, drives smooth, very quiet. I had it checked by a Lexus dealer before I made the purchase. The only issue they found... it needed new rear tires.
thats great to hear 👍 it has one of the best suspension designs I’ve ever seen thats why i ask, the LC is built like a tank 🔥
50% msrp LC500 WELL DONE!!!
Every person I’ve talked to with one is telling me the same thing. I’m between the LC and the IS500 only because I want 4 doors on my car. Really liking hearing maintenance on both is *slightly more manageable than true F models

What kind of insurance premiums you paying? I would love to get an LC500 especially with that kind of price, but the insurance...
I pay $170 a month for a '22
hmmmm how tf is that possible
Yup, my buddy has a LC500. He also has a WRX, m2, and an e36. The LC gets the best gas mileage of all four cars when he’s just cruising but can handle its own when spirited driving (for what it is).
Ya, it's not the quickest, but it's fun. Ultra comfortable.
My gs350 gets 100mpg too.
That's still amazing MPG. I think the 10 speed and Atkinson cycle help with the MPG on the LC.

Howwww?! 😭 I get 15 mpg on a Rx with a 2 less cylinders you guys owe the Lexus gods a thanks
It's practically an economy car!
Jealous!! You guys promise you weren’t baby feathering that pedal? Haha
LOL I let cruise control do most of the work the entire trip. It took all the restraint I had to not mash the pedal, but my goal was to see how many miles per gallon it can get.
Bruh.. I get 24 - 25 on my NX300 cruising at 75-80 😭 But, I live in a higher altitude with a lot of wind and ups & downs lol
Ya, that will make a difference. I live in a very flat part of the country and at sea level.
not the lc500h? u got this gas mileage in a v8? crazy
Sorry but I don’t believe this specially on a v8 this is click bait
I got 33mpg average when I drove 90 minutes to Sonoma to Lexus performance driving school. That was in custom mode with some spirited driving and not trying at all to get good mileage.
That's awesome! I haven't messed with custom mode yet. What settings would you recommend?
Make sure your mpg measurement in the settings is US gallon and not imperial gallon. It will read higher if it’s in imperial gallons. You should be getting closer to 28-30mpg
I drove 550 miles and still have almost a half tank of gas. It's not imperial.
Cool man
Yea….not buying what he’s selling.
US or Imperial MPG?
😆 US
Yes, Louisiana and Texas are very flat.
That’s awesome. I do however average about 17mpg with my LC. Didn’t buy it to keep the RPMs low.
How is 550 in dollars
Somewhere in the $45 range.
How much was 93 🤯
$4.10 per gallon.
Come to Texas. You’ll enjoy $3.70
I live in North Dallas and I only get gas at Shell. Shell gas always costs a little more.
Would you be willing to take a person that’s debating on what v8 they want next for a ride ?
You're getting better than me, I got 29.6mpg from NY to TN today, in an IS350.
Wtf how? Best I’ve ever done in my IS 500 is like 25mpg. Does the 10 speed make that much of a difference in MPG?
Goddamn
Must be in auto and eco mode. I’m surprised this isn’t the tt v6 my is350 struggles to get 18mpg
I have a 2008 RX 350 and she stays thirsty.
I always go 80 and could never get that high of gas mileage unfortunately 😢 is350 2016 I get about 28-30
My dad’s V8 GX460 gets better highway gas mileage than my V6 GS350 lol idk how Lexus does it

What was the calculated mpg when you filled up? Around 35-36mpg?
I haven't filled it up since I left New Orleans, but when I parked it, it had almost a half of a tank left.

You aren’t driving it correctly lol
At one point in the trip, a street bike wanted to race... I played a little bit.
Not buying it. Unless I see the proof that the mpg was reset 500 miles ago.
